Welcome to your second duel!
This is a key stepping stone into determining your placement in the Jinx Tournament so please take this seriously. A list of spells to use can be found HERE while the cost of physical actions can be found below.
Please note that these actions take away from the Fatigue Points section. Also note that these are only taken into account if you're attacking or avoiding a spell. If you're simply moving around the hall, these points don't need to be considered.

A referee (either Professor Airey or Professor Hirsch) will be present to oversee the duels and will only interfere if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.
Please remember to adhere to the Dueling Club rules, the DADA rules as well as the SS Site rules.

OOC: This duel must be completed by the 12th of March by 11:59pm GMT. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate in contacting me about them or posting them in the Dueling Club Rules thread. If you don't think you can post during that time or you don't think you can start/finish your duel, please let me know as soon as possible and we'll try and work something out.
Remember to keep a track of your points both in the title of your post (before any spells have been cast) and at the end of the post (after your charrie has cast a spell). Please refer to this post if you're confused as to how this works or, simply, come to me. Include as much information as you can about the spell in the spoiler section at the bottom of your post, including the directionality of the spell.
Also remember to be as realistic as possible with your charrie's age and ability.
First person mentioned in the thread title is the first person to start off the duel.

This was great…just great.
Cue the sarcastic tone in her mind. It had been challenging enough to duel against a fellow first year who appeared to have a stronger spell basis than she had. Now she was to duel a second year. Granted it was Kitty, a friendly acquaintance and house mate whom she had worked with before, but still. She had a year of knowledge and practice ahead of her. This was certainly going to be quite interesting and Olivia could only hope she managed to hold her own like she had with the previous boy.
Thank Merlin she had been trying to practice for extra time.
Properly outfitted, the Ravenclaw made her way out to the dueling area to greet Kitty and give her best attempt at this. “Good luck,” she offered politely before bowing in respect, her wand already in her grasp as expected. Then as Olivia straightened up from the movement, she readied herself to offer the first spell of the duel.
“Levicorpus!”

Okay. She got this. Last time she had been extremely nervous, but she had practiced a lot since then and was a lot more confident and certain of herself. Also, her opponent was one year younger than she was
- though one year difference wasn't all that much in her opinion.
Kitty considered Olivia to be a friend, having worked with in class before and, and she assumed Olivia felt the same way. Kitty bowed respectfully to her and smiled. "Thank you. Good luck!" Then the Gothic girl skipped to her position and got her wand out.
And the match had started! She ducked to the side, causing the spell to narrowly miss her. Close one. Then she aimed her wand at Olivia and shouted the name of one of her all time favorite spells. "Cantis!"

Unfortunately for her, Kitty hadn’t been caught by the spell, the older girl dodging it. Although thankfully not sliding crazily like Jaemin had done in her last duel that Olivia swore helped him win. Even though she had been cut off from responding by the calling of time. But it was only the first volley and the younger eagle was trying to keep her self-esteem up. Professor Hirsch had congratulated her for how well she had held her own previously. And she didn’t have any more time lingering over her thoughts for her friend was returning fire.
Olivia dodged the impeding spell herself. Nuh uh….she wasn’t going to sing. Especially not on command and singing Merlin knew what when she was trying to duel. And she was saving a shield or two for later on in the duel.
For now there was the start of round two on her mark. First there was a focused “Titillando!” aimed at Kitty. Then quickly following with a quiet yet determined verbal trip jinx. Her uncle had mentioned in his latest letter that multiple spells at one time increased the chance of something hitting. So she was testing the idea out.

"Awww, you ducked!" Kitty called out across the room. That was the second time she had used Cantis in a duel and the second time that her opponent ducked. Kitty was determined to use Cantis on somebody, she'd just have to keep trying.
Kitty sidestepped Olivia's first spell easily. No way was she going to be tickled again, not after Davie seriously humiliated her in the first match with that spell. But then before she could cast again, she felt another spell hit her, tripping her and knocking her flying to the floor. Her wand fell flew from her hand and skidded across the floor.
"Ouch!" Kitty had twisted her knee.

Olivia supposed in this case they were the same thing. She almost remarked that Kitty had done the exact same thing a few minutes before but had stopped herself. There was too much happening before her eyes in reaction with her current round of spells. First there was the older Ravenclaw moving away from the tickle hex which was a minor disappointment. However the suggested idea had worked and Kitty had been caught in the trip jinx. The older girl crashing to the floor and loosing her wand in the process.
She was torn between being concerned for her companion and being excited her actions had actually worked. Her traces of worry flickering across her face. Olivia also wasn’t sure what to do next. Had the loss of Kitty’s wand make her disarmed? And did that mean the duel was over? The younger Ravenclaw looking for the professor who was overseeing their duel questioningly.
As almost an afterthought, she turned her attention to the direction Kitty’s had rolled. Olivia moved across the floor and bent down to retrieve it as it seemed like a possible appropriate action. “You okay?” she asked, tentatively moving closer to her dueling opponent.

Her knee snapped back into position on its own within a few seconds, causing her to grit her teeth in pain but she tried hard not to show it, not wanting to get embarrassed in front of everyone watching. Nearby Olivia was approaching her to ask if she was okay. She felt a surge of affection for her dueling partner.
"I'm okay now." Her knee still hurt a little, but it was back in position and Kitty wanted to continue. She slowly stood up and turned to look from Olivia (holding her wand) to the professor, waiting to hear if the match could continue.

Hirsch had been standing at the sidelines, ready to see what this duel had in store. He'd silently hoped she wasn't mad at him for putting her up against someone who was older than her and, therefore, had more experience. It was a learning curve, wasn't it? A lot could be learnt from both parties while still ensuring that the duel wasn't too unfair.
And then, it happened.
It was like watching one of your favourite remakes of a movie spiral out of control and all you can do is watch. That was it. Getting upset wouldn't do anything to solve the issue and yet, here he was. The man took out his wand and hurried over towards the pair, just in time for Kitty to stand up on her own. Merlin! Didn't her knee hurt?!
"Miss Valentine?" he asked, placing a hand on her shoulder, "Are you hurt? Do you need to go to the Hospital Wing?" Because there was no chance that he was going to let her continue the duel given the condition she was in.

Kitty shook her head as the professor put his hand on her shoulder and asked if she needed to go to the Hospital Wing. "My knee hurts a little but I don't think I need to go to the Hospital Wing. It's not that bad." She winced as a surge of pain flashed through her knee. "I twist it sometimes when I step on a trick step in the moving stairs, but it always recovers in a few hours."

So Kitty was okay?
Olivia wasn’t entirely sure about whether she believed her friend or not. It certainly seemed like it had hurt and that was just by watching what had happened. Which of course reminded the younger Ravenclaw had been the cause which brought on the guilt. She hadn’t meant to get her hurt. “I’m sorry…” she said quietly, looking apologetic. Her face turned to Professor Hirsch as the man appeared beside them, he too concerned for the other girl.
The other girl who was currently adamant about the fact that she was okay. Was she really? Olivia looked between the two others, at a loss for real. Her fingers absently playing with the two wands in her possession.

Kitty tried to smile (through the stinging sensation in her knee) at Olivia to show that she appreciated her apology and that she was okay. "It's okay. I'm not that hurt. Cool spell, by the way." Olivia hadn't done anything wrong. It was an accident. "Can I have my wand back?" She extended her hand for the wand. Whether or not she went to the Hospital Wing or if the duel continued didn't change the fact that she would want her wand with her. | |

You know, if Kitty had managed to say all she managed to say without wincing, Hirsch might've believed her. Might've even let her go! But as it was, he simply couldn't, not when she went on to mention that she sometimes twisted it when she stepped on trick steps. Merlin! How did she manage to do that?!
"Miss Valentine, that still doesn't sound right, even if it happens a lot. I think you should get it checked out, at least." Even if it was to just ease his mind. Because there was no way he was letting her continue the duel and there was no way he was simply going to let her go and frolic around the grounds.
Instead, he turned to Miss Stone and said, "Miss Stone, do you think you could take Miss Valentine to the Hospital Wing, please? And keep me updated on the goings on, yeah?" Even if it meant numerous letters to his office.
