Welcome to your second duel!
This is a key stepping stone into determining your placement in the Jinx Tournament so please take this seriously. A list of spells to use can be found HERE while the cost of physical actions can be found below.
Please note that these actions take away from the Fatigue Points section. Also note that these are only taken into account if you're attacking or avoiding a spell. If you're simply moving around the hall, these points don't need to be considered.

A referee (either Professor Airey or Professor Hirsch) will be present to oversee the duels and will only interfere if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.
Please remember to adhere to the Dueling Club rules, the DADA rules as well as the SS Site rules.

OOC: This duel must be completed by the 12th of March by 11:59pm GMT. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate in contacting me about them or posting them in the Dueling Club Rules thread. If you don't think you can post during that time or you don't think you can start/finish your duel, please let me know as soon as possible and we'll try and work something out.
Remember to keep a track of your points both in the title of your post (before any spells have been cast) and at the end of the post (after your charrie has cast a spell). Please refer to this post if you're confused as to how this works or, simply, come to me. Include as much information as you can about the spell in the spoiler section at the bottom of your post, including the directionality of the spell.
Also remember to be as realistic as possible with your charrie's age and ability.
First person mentioned in the thread title is the first person to start off the duel.

Charlotte was dueling CHLOE which was fun, and obviously they had prepared together by doing make up things because that way if one of them died they would die looking their BEST and stuff, right? Also, Char was definitely interested to see if her every-flavour lip gloss would stay on during the whole duel or not.
Experiments were IMPORTANT.
She bounded into the arena and hopped from foot to foot in excitement. WAS SHE READY? WAS CHLOE READY? BECAUSE CHAR WAS. Paces and bowing and saluting and HUZZAH! IT WAS TIME!
"Melofors!" Charlotte opened the duel on the offensive, and then went for her trusty go to strategy, casting the feather-light charm on herself.
YAHH DUELING!!!

It wasn't that Chloe did not want to do the duel-
No, wait, actually that was exactly what this feeling was. After the first duel, which she won by sheer dumb like (ie. they were both so terrible she felt like Hirsch just randomly picked the winner), Chloe was feeling even less confident. If that was possible.
While she knew that Char was, well, Char and all of the things that went along with that particular kind of Gryffindor, she also knew that she was highly competitive. And Chloe was not. At all. At least not in any physical confrontation. In fact, she was the least physically intimidating person she knew. And duels? Please. They made her anxiety spike.
Would Char be mad if she just laid down and gave up? Did she care?
Before she could even think about her most brilliant tactic ever, the lay down and act dead one, Char was shooting a spell straight at her. Chloe squeaked and was suddenly a pumpkin head. It was very DARK and VERY slimy on the inside of a pumpkin. AND CHLOE HAD JUST DONE HER MAKEUP. CHAR KNEW THAT. SHE SAW HER SPEND FIFTEEN WHOLE MINUTES ON HER WINGED EYELINER.
The Ravenclaw struggled but eventually got the pumpkin off of her head and threw it on the ground. It cracked like Chloe KNEW all of her makeup had basically done. She could feel her eyeliner running.
Chloe drew her wand, aimed and shouted, "Aguamenti!" No, she didn't think this would win her the duel. But she DID know it would ruin Char's makeup.

So that was what it looked like when someone had a pumpkin head, and THAT was what it looked like when the head came off and apparently there was gooooooooo still on your face and--
WATER! Charlotte held her hand up, the one that didn't have her wand in it, and managed to catch the brunt of the water jet, though it still splashed her face, causing her to rub at one eye and leave a panda smear in the wake of said rubbing.
But it was just water! Was her own face as messed up from a bit of water smearing as Chloe's was from pumpkin goo? probably not, but Char hollered consolingly at her friend-
"Don't worry, Chloe! We can do our make up again after!" Yes, they could use the Ellsberry stuff! It would be FUN. ALMOST but not quite as fun as DUELING!
Bopping from foot to foot, Char threw a quick and loud one-two at her friend, a trip jinx followed by the jelly fingers curse.
WASN'T THIS EXCITING? WASN'T CHLOE ALSO SO VERY EXCITED?

No, Char. Chloe was NOT excited. Only lunatics like her dear friend, straight up crazy Gryffindor, liked duels. There were people who found this kind of stuff stressful, anxiety inducing even. She did not want to do it. She wanted to lay down.
Speaking of which, Char was two steps ahead of her.
She tripped ON HER FACE. CHAR OMG STOP. And then her wand slipped from her hand.
Chloe was just going to stay here.
She mumbled from the floor, "Chaaaaaaaaar."

Huzz-- wait, no huzzah, and no protego needed, even if Char's wand was at the ready. Wait more, was Chloe giving UP?
Though she could be obtuse at times, Charlotte wasn't the sort to kick a friend while they were down (even if part of her totally was picturing summoning Chloe's wand then dancing around with two wands hollering about how she was the CHAMPION), but honestly, she wanted to do well because she was GOOD and not just because Chloe was giving up!
"Chloeee get up! This is IMPORTANT to me OKAY? At least TRY, pleaase?"
And just because Charlotte was helpful about these things, she cast again, "Tarantallegra!"
That would help her get up.... and dance, right?

Chloe nearly rolled over and tossed her shoe at Char. This was important to her? Well, her makeup was important to her. And not looking the fool in front of Hirsch was important to her. It was why she had bothered with this dumb club in the first place. And now she looked as terrible as she felt.
UGH.
So she wasn't going to listen to anything Char said. She was going to stay down and avoid any more damage of looking spectacularly foolish.
Or at least that was her plan.
The next thing she knew Chloe had abandoned her wand on the ground, was being yanked up to standing by her feet and was dancing. Not well, to be honest, but dancing. And she couldn't stop. Every time she tried to reach down to grab her wand her legs would spin her away.
"CHAAAAAAR MAKE IT STOP!!"
Was Hirsch watching? She hoped not.

"Finite!" Char cast on her friend, aiming to stop the tarantallegra at least. Chloe wasn't mad, right? She understood, right?
.... Char had won, right?

Yes, Hirsch was watching.
He watched as things started off well, as Chloe seemed to be hitting back spells that Charlotte sent towards her, but he also saw the fall and the, well, the way she gave up. The man was perplexed. Come on, surely Chloe wasn't just going to let someone win, right? Even if that someone was currently talking about makeup........?
You know, he wasn't even going to pretend to understand.
When the time was up - probably luckily for Chloe - the man cast up the shield before making his way towards the young Ravenclaw and getting rid of any lasting effects from recent spells. Charlotte would get her words but for now...... "Miss Newman? Are you okay?" She wasn't upset, was she? About makeup? Because if that was the case, he was about as much help as a kelpie.
Now. Charlotte. "Congratulations, Miss Kettleburn. You've taken the lead for this round as well." Maybe he needed to give her a very hard partner for the final round. Maybe. "And well done on putting up a good fight, Miss Newman."
