| H: 150, m: 150 , f: 15 Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite You would think that after the last duel, the Professor would have pulled him aside and asked if he was magically challenged then suggested he sit out all future duels but nope. Nooooope. Here he was, standing in the dueling arena across from Ava about to duel AGAIN. Don't ask him why they liked pairing him against girls--as if losing wasn't humiliating enough of its own. Why couldn't they choose partners? Granted, Blaise would leave his selection sheet blank but that was besides the point. No one would pick him and he'd be forced to sit out. Alternately, EVERYONE would pick him for an easy win, the Professor would realize then disqualify him for being an unfair advantage.
That's what he was, you know, an unfair advantage. Anyone who dueled him was guaranteed advancement. How did the Professor not realize this from the beginning??? This was technically cheating. This dueling club had successfully made a CHEATER out of him! The shame! He'd have to write home to his mum immediately and hope she wrote the Professor asking that he sit out the next match.
That was his only hope. For now, he was here, Ava was there and if they both just kept standing like this he would be the happiest Second Year ever nothing would get done.
With an openly reluctant sigh, Blaise bowed at his opponent then turned and counted out his ten steps in a painfully slow manner. If She felt the need to cast before he'd turned around again, well, he would lie there and play dead. Usually worked. Unfortunately, upon turning again, there was nothing to make him play dead so he would have to raise his wand and cast the cornflake skin hex.

Well, she was disappointed to lost of course but she had moved on, practice more and... Here she was, facing Blaise Bellaire.
Ava stepped into the dueling arena with her full dueling uniform. She didn't underestimate Blaise though the boy seemed have issue with his wand last term but for now... Maybe he had practice and done better, who knew? She bowed to her opponent and counted back to ten. Once Blaise started the attack, quickly she avoided the spell by ducking it. Without thinking twice, she send a disarming charm to him.

| H: 150, m: 145 , f: 10 Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite The fact Ava was casting back meant they wouldn't simply be standing there until the Professor intervened like he'd hoped. Should have known. Not even Chloe had been willing to simply stand there with him. Oh no, she had to go and CAST things that he had to avoid--like right now.
As much as he didn't mind getting his wand knocked out of his hand so he could insist that continuing was impossible, he didn't fancy getting knocked back in the event Ava's aim wasn't 100%. It was for that reason and that reason alone that Blaise threw himself to the floor with immediacy. It put him at an odd angle to cast, sure but he'd worry about that later. The point was to not be hit and it seemed he'd done a good enough job of that.
Down here, he only had so many options on how to proceed. Forget the fact that the spell might not have even WORKED, there was a matter of being practical. Let's say...his wand humoured him and actually cast, if he shot from this angle his chances were still slim....unless he aimed for her feet.
Not getting up from where he was flopped on the floor, Blaise lifted his wand just enough and cast the tripping jinx in the hopes of bringing her to his level while ignoring the recurring thought to just play dead while he was down there.
It was the perfect opportunity to be sure but he needed something a little more convincing first otherwise it'd never sell.

| H: 150 m: 153: F: 15 BOOMBAYAH! | #PuedoPorquePiensoQuePuedo | Certified Blank and Random Person | Raventastic It seemed like her disarming charm didn't work... What? Merlin's beard, this had never happened before. She should be more focused and concentrated and showed to Hirsch that she's 100% on a game today, even she lost at her first.
As her opponent sent another attack, Ava dodged the spell then attack him back. "Lumos!" The young lioness use the wand-lighting charm and aimed it to her opponent. It was just to make him distracted. And then she sent Curse of the Bogies. She had dedicated 200% for this duel, gained her focus and her concentration back. So just... it should work, okay?

| H: 150, m: 138 , f: 10 Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite He probably should have gotten off the floor now. Ava seemed taken aback by the fact her spell hadn't worked and her focus was now on dodging his own. If he could discretely get off the floor and say...somehow.....disillusion himself, he could probably hide for the rest of the duel. No shame in that. Professor Dakest had taught them that stealth was JUST as good a defense as hitting someone straight on and clearly he wouldn't be hitting her any time soon.
The fact she kept blocking and dodging didn't help him much either. Did it mean his spells weren't casting at all or was she just very sharp? Either way, Blaise was not going to win on offense any time soo--
WHOA!!!
It was the fastest Blaise had ever scrambled to his feet then made a dive at the ground in the longest time. Didn't matter what spell Ava was gonna cast, he didn't want to sit there on the floor waiting to find out. No sir, for all intents and purposes, when it came to duels, the Gryffindor was a runner--or in this case a diver.
He wasn't sure what he'd just missed. Behind him there was a bright light and something else but the boy was now across from where he originally lay with no intention of ever asking. His joints didn't appreciate his many trips to the floor but desperate times called for desperate measures. Speaking of desperate, he needed to cast something real quick. First spell to come to mind? "Incarcerous!" Shot right at her. Something had to give, the kid needed a breather and it would only come when she stopped moving.

But well, Ava didn't give up because she had like so many ways to attack her opponent and of course, to win this duel. Losing to Charlotte makes her had to work very hard because you know, she wanted to show to Hirsch that she's a capable dueler. "Protego!" Once her opponent sent an attack, the young lioness quickly cast the shield charm. But she didn't deflect it back or even send another attack to him. Let's see what he's gonna do next and yeah, this was one of her strategy.

| H: 150, m: 133 , f: 5 Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite Blaise was on edge. There was no doubt he would be vulnerable if he remained flopped there on the floor but at the same time, he was afraid to take his eyes off Ava for even a second. So far she'd been firing spell after spell. Who knew, the moment he made a move, she would probably send another and in his position, defending would be hard.
The thing was....after she blocked his spell....she didn't do anything else...
No more spells? No more firing?
...?
Well then...he was just...gonna....stand up now he supposed. Carefully, eyes still locked on the girl, Blaise rose to his feet but when she still didn't move, the boy took the liberty of brushing himself off. Huh, still no spell. Merlin this was better than he could hope! Were they done??? Was this a draw?? Were they calling it a day??? Sweet Circe let it be so.
Tentatively, the boy stuck his wand back into its holster, still watching in case he had to suddenly pull it but...this...seemed pretty chill. He liked it. They should have done this no casting thing from the start; it was just the way he liked it.

| H: 150 m: 131: F: 10 BOOMBAYAH! | #PuedoPorquePiensoQuePuedo | Certified Blank and Random Person | Raventastic Since she lost her first duel against Charlotte, Ava had spent more time to practice and practice.... Because she had learned from the cause what makes her lose: she often sent attacks after attacks too impulsively and made her lose control to defend sometime. So that's why she had been a little bit easy for now.
Was she excited to be in a duel again? Very. But what if her opponent wasn't as excited as her? It could kill her vibe. Like now, Blaise seemed not really excited ever since they started the duel. Even when she didn't send any attack and gave him a chance, a GOLDEN CHANCE! And now she didn't care if she win or lose in this duel because clearly, there's no point at all. She'd rather to lose against Charlotte because at least they both did well and were enthusiast to be in this dueling tournament.
The young lioness watched her opponent put back his wand on his holster. What? Did he think they were done here? Maybe sending him stickfast hex would light up his mood.

| H: 150, m: 133 , f: 5 Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite He just couldn't get a break, could he? Not for once could things go his way and the duel actually be over. So typical. The boy should have known that Ava of all people wouldn't have quit in the middle of a duel. Perhaps....perhaps that was why his guard hadn't been completely down despite his wand being safely secured in its holster. Deep down--call it a gut feeling or for him a sinking feeling--he KNEW this wasn't the end so maybe it didn't surprise him all that much when she was suddenly casting again.
If he weren't too busy darting away from the girl and her spell, there might have been an exasperated sigh, because yes, he WAS tired of this. He hated it. He didn't want to do it. If his mother dearest would have listened to him, he wouldn't even BE here.
Quite put out by this and in need of a break, the boy drew his wand and immediately cast the first spell to come to mind, which happened to be the hot air charm, at her. Merlin knew what it would do or if she'd just block it but he just kinda needed her to STOP casting for a while longer.
Who knew, if they stayed still long enough, they might even get the Professor thinking they were done but it couldn't happen if she insisted on casting, you know?
Just a little more composed now, Blaise took aim again, but this time at himself. Char had taught him something that came in handy for runners like himself and right now it was just what he needed so while Ava was stuck with a spell to deal with, he cast a feather light charm on himself. Someone tell him it actually worked.

| urine trouble | Pat's Strong Confident Other Half | Pees Like a Champion Unicorn Racehorse Hirsch was doing what he normally did: standing in the shadows, officiating and generally making judgements about each of the contestants. Call him weird but he liked seeing what people were like in a dueling setting so this......... this was interesting.
Everything was more or less fine - why was there a moment of inactivity? - up until it was time to call off the duel due to the time limit. The man struck up the magical shield and approached the two Gryffindors as he would with any other duel. "That was a great duel! Well done, both of you!" Really and truly. "And the winner is........" He looked down at his notes and.........
............... uh.
No, no it couldn't....... but........ Looking back up at the two contestants, he gave them both a smile before checking once more. Just the once. When no loophole came up, he looked back at the two properly. ".......... Blaise Bellaire. Congratulations, Mr Bellaire. And well done on putting up a good fight, Miss Burton." Merlin!
