As you walk into the History of Magic classroom, you will see that the room is set up as Professor Finch usually has it. The tables with four chairs at each one are set up throughout the room, but the name tags that have been there most of the year are gone. He has permitted students to sit where they want today, within reason.
Professor Finch is found leaning casually against his desk at the front of the room, waiting for students to arrive as he greets each one. "Good morning! Find a seat and we'll begin shortly." Hopefully they could have a little fun once they got the necessary learning out of the way, though he hoped both would be a memorable learning experience.
OOC- Although this is our 2nd and last RPed History of Magic class of the term, you can presume that we had class all year even if it was not RPed.
Elsa sat and grinned happily. After waving towards Hady, she leaned towards the boy, Gabriel, whispering "I'm Elsa, nice to meet you Gabriel!". She then took a few moments placing her quills, pencils and notebook on the table, minuciously. When she was satisfied with the result she picked up one of her pencils and started sketching the outline of Gabriel's face as she spoke with him. OCD, juuuuust a little.
"Mind if I sketch you, Gabriel the Gryffindor?" she asked, eyeing the symbol on his robes "Are you also a first year? I'm a first year!" she couldn't tell really in which year people were. She sketched a little further. She didn't mind the stereotypes, unlike Colt that had fun with them. So far everyone had been nice and pleasant to her. She hoped this boy didn't mind her being a Slytherin.
He smiled as the girl introduced herself he heard her whisper something what did she say anyway. He removed his book and quill to take notes at least for this lesson the first one was a blur. He had to make notes this time.
He looked at what the girl was drawing when he finished removing his stuff. is that a face? Is that my face? He wasn’t been sketched before it was kind of weird when the girl asked if she could sketched him not that he had any problem with it. It was just new to him "Oh, sure"i found myself an artist! Yay! He then remembered his mom loves to paint.
He forgot to respond with all the sketch stuff going on when the girl introduced herself "nice to meet you too, Elsa. Yes a Gryffindor. You in Slytherin? Yah, I'm a first year too" It was good to make new friends ignoring what house there in. He was kind of waiting for the end result of that sketch when he head the professor start the class.

Was it just him or were there a lot fewer students in his classroom today than normal? Ansley wasn't sure where everyone was, but he kind of suspected the warmer weather had something to do with it. Well, if skipping students were outside, they'd soon catch up to them if all went well anyway. But for now, he was getting class started.
"Good morning, class!" Ansley greeted everyone with a slightly louder voice to get everyone's attention and to signal that personal conversations were to come to an end. "Let's get started... I'm hoping to reward everyone with a little fun at the end of class, but let's get our discussion going first." Not that a discussion couldn't be fun in it's own right, but he thought they'd like what came next a little more. Plus they could relate the two.
"Our topic for discussion today are wizarding battles, rebellions, and skirmishes. There have been many battles throughout magical history for a variety of reasons. What do you already know about them? Can anyone name one?" He'd actually like everyone to name one, or at least contribute to the discussion. "Or if someone names one that you know, maybe you could add a fact or piece of information about it.." He had his wand ready to add answers to the blackboard.
He heard professor say something about wars? Why is history mostly filled with wars and stuff? Anyways he did remember a few there was this Global Wizarding War somewhere in the 1945 which was against the muggles he knew the wizard who cause it Gellert Grindelwald was imprisoned in Nurmengard. He heard someone mention that maybe he could add something to that. "Professor Gellert Grindelwald was imprisoned in Nurmengard because of his cruel intentions of turning the non wizarding population to slaves" such bad thinking. Good those times are no more. Everything is good in the world again

Battles and rebellions of the distant past? Sam wasn't exactly enthused by this, and sank down in her seat. Unless they were dressing up and re-enacting something later, she had a horrible feeling she might struggle to keep herself awake in this one.
As if on cue, she yawned widely.
At least she knew of a conflict that hadn't been mentioned yet, so she raised her hand. "De Gian' Wars, Professeh?" Unfortunately, she only knew that involved giants, and no more, but it was an answer all the same.

Well, this was going to be quite interesting. . .
Mason's shot up into the air. How had no one mentioned the most tragic war as of yet? "Well obviously the First Wizarding War. . . It had been in the peak of Voldemort's reign." Were people still sensitive about that name? "That had been when he was the most powerful. Nobody knew who to trust, He used to control people so that they did awful things without being able to stop themselves. . . " And her ancestors had been Death-Eaters, obsessed with keeping Magic within those whose blood was Purest. . . Bloody fools they were.
So she went on, "Not even the Muggles were safe, he killed them as well. The Ministry had been in shambles, not knowing what to do or how to stop him." she gave a shudder then, "He had werewolves, giants, Inferi and . . . Death Eaters. Everyone that Voldemort was going to be the downfall of the Wizarding World. . . until The Order of the Phoenix came along, and with them, the baby Harry Potter. And BAM! The first defeat of Old Voldy."
She leaned back in her seat with a satisfied smirk. There. She hoped that her answer proved sufficient.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Uuuugh discussion. He did not like discussions or theories or ….anything that required not doing anything with his hands. No wait, he could be doing something. The Head Boy took out his notebook and royal pheasant quill and dipped it in the ink, getting ready to take notes for his NEWT exams.
He wrote down some of the other students answers before raising his own hand in the air. “The first wizarding war, Sir. It went on for about eleven years if I’m not mistaken” Until the famous Harry Potter had destroyed You-Know-Who………….Who later came back and the second wizarding war began but that would be two answers in one. He did raise an eyebrow at a Slytherin kid (Mason) who called You-Know-Who , ‘Voldy’. Even after a hundred years he wasn’t comfortable saying his name.
He smiled as the girl introduced herself he heard her whisper something what did she say anyway. He removed his book and quill to take notes at least for this lesson the first one was a blur. He had to make notes this time.

SPOILER!!: Professor Ansley
Was it just him or were there a lot fewer students in his classroom today than normal? Ansley wasn't sure where everyone was, but he kind of suspected the warmer weather had something to do with it. Well, if skipping students were outside, they'd soon catch up to them if all went well anyway. But for now, he was getting class started.
"Good morning, class!" Ansley greeted everyone with a slightly louder voice to get everyone's attention and to signal that personal conversations were to come to an end. "Let's get started... "Or if someone names one that you know, maybe you could add a fact or piece of information about it.." He had his wand ready to add answers to the blackboard.
Her grin widened as she continued drawing the outline of his face. She wasn't very good - yet - but there was a resemblance there. She meant to ask him about himself when the teacher addressed the class, so she shut her mouth close and paid attention, her sketch morphing to the topics surrounding her. Battles, Rebellions and Skirmishes. Poor Gabriel's face was starting to resemble a evil demon. She glanced apologetically at him.
She then tapped her pencil on her notebook, thinking. All he main events were being referred, so she wanted to remember something other than that. She chewed on her bottom lip for a moment before raising her hand "The Witch Hunts on the Fourteenth Century resulted in a few skirmishes between wizards and muggles, even though most wizards could evade capture with a simple spell, others weren't so lucky. Witches and wizards fought to protect themselves and their families and muggles fought to get rid of the unknown."
After giving her answer Elsa turned to Gabriel and whispered so she wouldn't disturb the lesson "I'm sorry it looks something take from The Tales of Beedle the Bard.." she giggled, dragging the parchment she had been sketching on to him.

SPOILER!!: Elsa before lesson begins!
Elsa noticed Hady coming in and gestured until she caught her fellow Slythering's attention and waved a mute hello "Hi Hady!" she whispered, pointing to a chair next to her and the Gryffindor "Sit here?".
Hady might have been in an incredibly good mood which showed by the large smile on her face but she was also in her own tiny little world the second she sat down. Having already started on her sketching she didn't notice anything until she heard her name. Lifting her head she turned to look at the younger snake and smiled nodding. "Sure," she whispered in reply quickly grabbing her things and moving to sit near Elsa. Surely the Professor wouldn't mind since the lesson hadn't officially begun just yet.
SPOILER!!: Ansley
Ansley smiled at his portrait apprentice as she was the next to arrive. "Good morning, Hadleigh," he said, returning her greeting. "It's as good as it can be, I suppose. Hope you're having a good day too." After glancing at his watch, noting that it was just about time to get started, he happened to notice Hadleigh making a few sketches. That was nice to see and he gave her an approving nod. He approved of any extra drawing one could do, it only improved skill.
"I am Professor," she chirped happily offering up another smile. Her day was going just great. As Ansley began his lesson Hadleigh put her sketches into her page replacing them with some clean parchment on which to take down her notes. Wizarding Wars. A topic with a great deal of information which meant a ton of notes. Wars were terrible for everyone involved and even those that had nothing to do with it were affected.
Quill in hand she went about taking down some notes doing her best to keep things organized for studying. She knew Professor Finch would prefer if everyone gave answers but right now she couldn't come up with something different then what had already been said. Sorry there on this one but she was keeping quiet.

Battles and wars today. While it was fascinating topic, Tia would be grateful when she didn't have to memorize historical facts and figures anymore.
As some of her classmates mentioned various battles and such that took place a good amount of time ago, Tia couldn't help but feel the need to chime in about something regarding one of the battles that Azura mentioned. Horcruxes, because it was a topic she was pretty sure was difficult to understand and even though there was more information about it now then back then, it was still difficult to comprehend.
"Aren't horcruxes like extremely dark objects? Something regarding putting a piece of your soul into an object?" Ripping one's soul apart didn't sound too comfortable and she was sure anyone who did that wasn't entirely human.

"Hi Azura. Hello Olivia.Hey Esme!" Kitty greeted her friends as they came to sit by her and Rachel, whom she had already greeted. Then came Mason, her fellow conspirator in the case of the Tapestry. "High five Mason!" Kitty said she turned around to greet her, high fiving her in mid air.
Then she turned back around and paid attention as the ever awesome Professor Finch quizzed them about wizarding battles. Her hand shot into the air. "There were the goblin rebellions, which my Grandfather experienced as a reporter first hand. Also, I've read all about Harry Potter, and can probably safely say that Voldemort was the most dangerous dark wizard to ever exist. He caused two Wizarding wars that killed countless people, including many muggles who weren't even involved. He was defeated once by Harry Potter as a baby, when his spell bounced backwards and weakened him. His followers either went into hiding or were arrested, and some like Malfoys pretended they were never really his followers at all. Then many years later he came back to life and killed a Hogwarts Student, before starting the next war. In the second war he took over the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts, and probably would have taken over the entire world if he hadn't been defeated in a huge battle here at Hogwarts. Even after he was defeated his legacy continued as copycats like Voltemortist continued to wreck havoc for many years before finally being defeated."
That last piece of information she had learned fairly recently from Professor Ansley himself.

As more people arrived, Esme greeted them. She was happy to be here if only for her friends and Professor Handsome. Hopefully that didn't make her sound shallow because she thought he was a nice man. He was one of her favourite staff members.
Wizarding battles, rebellions, and skirmishes?
That sounded like a more INTERESTING aspect of history than the majority of it... but that didn't mean she was well-versed in it. The Hogwarts battle WAS something that she had heard about - basically everyone who was magical knew about it - but that had already been touched upon. Best to stay quiet on the matter and take notes. Maybe the information wouldn't fly out of her brain.
Taking out her notebook, Esme began to write down what everyone was saying. Hopefully it wouldn't take too long for them to move on to the activity portion because that was always her favourite part of any lesson.

History of Magic had ended up being a lot more interesting than Scarlett had anticipated when she first came to Hogwarts. And now they were apparently going to learn about famous BATTLES? That was always fun!
Scarlett raised her hand eagerly for the professor. "Well, there's the Battle the Ministry of Magic. Well I don't know if that's the exact name for it. But anyways, Harry Potter and his friends along with some DA members fought Death Eaters over a prophecy that would supposedly help Voldemort defeat Harry," she explained. That was pretty much the start of the Second Wizarding War, right?

Carl had been sitting silently, but looked up as Professor Finch began the lesson. He grinned at the mention of fun - he loved fun. Especially fun History of Magic, like that time when they got to talk to magical portraits. He returned his attention to the Professor and the discussion he was introducing.
Wizarding battles, rebellions, and skirmishes. Not his favorite topic, but ones that had to be discussed. The Hufflepuff raised his hand and answered, "There was the Battle of the Astronomy Tower." Right here at Hogwarts. It was quite scary, this was when a Professor killed Dumbledore right?

Finally it was time for class to begin. Janelle perked up and paid attention, as the professor began to speak. Quill and parchment at the ready, she prepared to take notes. The first question was on the table and it seemed that the students had plenty to say. Janelle scribbled notes and then raised her hand.
"During the Global Wizarding War, when Grindlewald was pretty much out of control, he had a famous duel with Albus Dumbledore.". Did that count as a battle........or skirmish? Janelle hoped so, as she continued on. "Dumbledore defeated Grindlewald and basically brought him down. He pretty much ended his reign of terror and off he went to Nurmengard."

Hmm...everyone seemed to have an answer ready except him. The ones that he knew had already been mentioned so he should think of a new one. "Alright...think Henric..think...remember all of your lessons for the past six terms...there has to be something in your dragon-filled head of yours..."he thought to himself.
He raised his hand,"We learn that there is a lot of prejudice and discrimination among other magical-beings...which of course...probably started the Great Goblin Rebellion. Rebellion activists such as Urg the Unclean and Bodrod the Bearded were the famous few that were featured on the chocolate frog card." Yes, he had a collection of them, which Adi gave him two terms back.
Missing Ariadne's head by a centimetre, the Ravenclaw's hand shot up in the air, and answered the professor's question when it was his turn. "A lot of skirmishes happened during the Second Wizarding War, professor." And the big ones happened right in Hogwarts! "One of them would be the Skirmish at the Malfoy Manor, in Wiltshire." That event was a dramatic one. Everyone found themselves as equals during the escape. Very epic, and very sad at the same time.
Ansley figured students would have a fairly easy time answering this first question at least. There were many battles and some were quite famous. He nodded to the Ravenclaw boy when he was the first to raise his hand. Hmm, he was a little surprised that Jace would mention this rather minor skirmish during a larger battle. It was one sometimes forgotten in the grand scheme of things. “Sure,” Ansley nodded. “There were several smaller battles during that war. We’ll list that under the Second Wizarding War.”

Ansley nodded. He expected that most of the class would refer to this particular war as it was the most famous one in his opinion, and pretty recent in relative terms. “Yes, that’s right. The Battle of Hogwarts was part of what is now known as the Second Wizarding War.” He started compiling a list on the board. “It’s pretty interesting that we are all sitting where there once was such a large battle.” Well, maybe not this actual classroom, but there really was a lot of history within these walls.

More about the Second Wizarding War and specifically the Battle of Hogwarts. Although Ansley was eager to hear what they knew about this war and battle too, he did hope that some of them would also name some others. Still, he listened to what Azura had to say. Hmm, she seemed to know a little about the horcruxes that played a major part in the culmination of the war. “Very good. All of the horcruxes had to be destroyed in order to defeat him. Can you name them all?” Ansley gave her the hint of a grin. No, he didn’t really expect a first year to be able to name them all.

Hmm, that was an interesting one. As awful as the prospect of this one was, it was strange that this one wasn’t as well known. Maybe because of how long ago it was. “Good answer,” he nodded at Ariadne. “Grindelwald had many followers who believed in what he stood for, and would fight for it as well. But thankfully there were enough people to oppose him.” Or else it would be pretty terrible for muggles. And being muggleborn himself, Ansley didn’t think what Grindelwald proposed sat all that well with him.

That was a general answer though at least it was something different. “Yes,” he nodded to Ava. “There were actually several goblin rebellions throughout the years, though they were all about similar matters..” Not that he disagreed that goblin should have rights, but it was always such conflict. Ansley nodded as the next student to answer added a little more about the Global Wizarding War. “Indeed… he was finally defeated by a former headmaster of this school – Albus Dumbledore. And he was then imprisoned where he spent the rest of his life.” Of course his death was during another great war.

Oh, and there was another that hadn’t been mentioned. Ansley nodded at Sam as she contributed her answer. “Right, those were about two hundred years ago. Giants and wizards haven’t always gotten along unfortunately.” He added that one to the board as well.

It was a pretty terrible time for wizardkind as well as muggles. Interesting story how he was defeated though…” He was pretty sure most if not all of them were familiar with that, but he would be happy to clarify if there were any questions. Voldy though? That was a new one for the History professor.

Alright, the Head Boy knew something about the First Wizarding War as well, and Ansley nodded thoughtfully as Yoongi spoke. “Officially, yes… but many of the conflicts leading up to it had been going on for more than twenty years prior.” All of that tension and fighting finally coming to head that lasted for a good eleven years or so. Still quite a long time to live under that terror.

Ah, yes.. Ansley did appreciate when students thought beyond the obvious. “Those witch hunts were a very tragic time in wizarding history, and they had a great impact that is even felt today.” In fact, it was the main reason they had certain laws.

Hmm.. Ansley’s eyes landed on Hadleigh for a moment as she jotted down some notes. Did she have nothing to contribute to the discussion yet? There was still plenty of information not yet touched upon and he would like to hear from everyone, but at least she was taking notes.

Ansley nodded his confirmation when Tia Marie spoke up next. Horcruxes did play a prominent role in the Second Wizarding War so it would make sense to bring those up as well. “They certainly are. Very dark in fact and can only be done through terrible means.” But many dark objects had a hefty price.

He could tell that Kitty was genuinely interested in history which was always nice to see. But he did do plenty of damage in his time.

Another quiet one? Ansley was glad that she was at least taking notes, but he knew that there was plenty that could still be contributed. He’d rather students even picked something out of their textbook to add to the discussion. But he let his eyes drift around the room for the next raised hand.

Ansley called on Scarlett next and listened to her a moment. There were many smaller battle that were part of the bigger picture so he appreciated the context. “Ah, yes..” he nodded. “That was another battle that happened during the Second Wizarding War.” Or right at the beginning of it. But there were many during that time.

Battle of the Astronomy Tower? Another that probably could have used context, but Ansley quickly cottoned on to what Carl had meant once he thought about it. “Oh, that was one of the battles fought here at Hogwarts during the Second Wizarding War,” he nodded. “The Headmaster at the time was killed then when death eaters infiltrated the castle.”

Ansley nodded at Janelle. He happened to be the very headmaster he just mentioned in response to Carl’s answer. “Right. And that also brought an end to the Global Wizarding War.”

Yes, he had a collection of them, which Adi gave him two terms back.
Ansley nodded at Henric’s answer as well. “Unfortunately that is a contributing factor in many rebellions over the years, including many of the goblin rebellions.” There had been a few of them in history.
It seemed as if everyone that was going to answer had already done so, and Ansley decided it was time to move on. “Great job, everyone,” he said and gestured to the board where he compiled their answers and added a little more himself. There was plenty more to add, but it was enough for now to continue the discussion.

“These are some of the more major conflicts known in wizarding history, but let’s continue the discussion. Though they are all fought for different reasons, they all have things in common. What do you think they are? And why do you think people found it necessary to fight these wars or engage in battle?” Higher order thinking time, class. As the professor explained and elaborated on the conflicts throughout wizarding history, Tia jotted down the notes from the board. If there was one thing she learned from education it was that any material, no matter how new or old, was fair game for a final exam. She also jotted down some of the things he mentioned, before setting her quill down to reflect on the current question.
Conflicts fought for different reasons, but things in common... there was some rather obvious answers to that. Raising her hand after first jotting down some notes, Tia spoke up, "I think people were upset and they took their differences out in a violent manner and the opposing group was after defense. And if that's the way it starts, if simple minor disagreements aren't resolved, then they just escalate into more violence and aggression and more angry people." Everything starts with just a difference of opinions, on the small scale, which just escalated.

For all he knew about that war, which wasn't much, Jaemin had never really thought about the fact that people had died here. Sure, people had died, but... he spent a lot of time on the grounds, and he'd never really thought about the fact that he'd walked over places where people his age had possibly been killed. The small boy sank down in his seat a little more as he considered it, biting on his bottom lip and chewing it thoughtfully.
What did all wars have in common?
"They have winners and losers, most of the time..." he whispered, tilting his head and looking up at Ansley. Sometimes things ended with sorta a draw or compromise, but those... well, sometimes they just didn't last. Sometimes things blew up years later, and it all started all over again. "And they're always started by people who think they're right. They want everyone to see from their point of view, whether it's really right or not..."
One of his Muggle teachers had talked to them about a big war called the Second World War, which... had not been a war in a second world, unhappily enough. One of the things he'd repeated quite a few times in class, which had subsequently stuck with the small boy, was a quote. He didn't know where it had come from, but it made him wonder about a lot of things.
"History is written by the victors." It came out soft, mumbled under his breath and not really meant for the entirety of the class. He looked up at the board, at all the things listed on it, and wondered if it applied to any of the magical wars in the same way it did the Muggle ones.

Ariadne read through the list on the board, thinking about what they all might have in common. To her, it was pretty obvious. Raising her hand, she said, "I think it all comes from people not being tolerant of other people. You know, like...people who are different than they are. Looking through that list, it seems like everybody is either out to get people different from them, or they're either fighting for rights, because they're not treated the same as everybody else."
Another look through the list told her that people could get pretty violent about that kind of thing, too. "Sometimes I think people are just seeking more and more power, and they think a physical defeat is the only way to do that. Or, it's just the opposite--they're seeking equal rights and think they need a physical defeat for that, too. It's like they want the other side to FEEL less inferior."

Azura smiled as the Professor asked her if she could name all of the Horcruxes. Yes she could Professor. "Rowena Ravenclaws Diadem, Helga Hufflepuff's Cup, Salazar Slytherin's necklace, Nagini the Snake, A ring used by Tom Riddles Father, Tom Riddles Diary and Harry Potter himself. " She said with a modest smile. She wasn't bragging or anything and her tone was soft and quiet. She did study.. She just didn't like to fully Ravenclaw out..
But right now her inner Ravvie was showing.
She turned her attention to his next question.
"Everyone seemed to be fighting for an ideal, for their right in something. The right to try and take over the world, or their right to save it. "

Despite taking notes on what her classmates had said, there was still a lot of writing for Esme to do. Her hand would be really sore tomorrow. Sighing, she gave her wrist a good shake as she thought a bit about what the Professor said.
Maybe she didn't know a lot about history because she had a hard time retaining the knowledge, but that didn't mean that she couldn't take a stab at an answer. She rose her hand. "Could they have all shared passion and belief in what they were fighting for? I think they found it necessary to take this form of action to achieve this because actions speak louder than words."
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
There was so much information! Did Rachel feel overwhelmed? No, she didn't. Not even by a long shot. She was grateful Professor Ansley had taken it upon himself to have it all on the board and so it was with ease that she copied every single bit of information there.
"I think that they were all fighting for their side, believing that whatever it was they were fighting for was the correct thing be it for their respective rights like the Goblins or the power to rule everyone like the first and second Wizarding wars. Is that what they had in common, Professor? The belief that they were right?'' But Rachel didn't think that violence was the way to solve things.

This was why Ava didn't really enjoy history of magic. There are too many facts that she needed to remember ALL OF THEM. She always finds it's very difficult to understand them. She totally need her brother's help again after this class. Teddy is always good with history and any kind of theoretical subjects.
And what are those battles have in common? "There are always innocent people got killed." She simply answered the question.

Jace nodded and watched the professor add his answer on the list. He had an inkling that his classmates would be mentioning the all too familiar ones, that’s why he opted for the smaller notes. However small, those were as important as the big ones.
The Ravenclaw sat back, tapping his fingers against their table. Why do people go to war? The 12 year old stayed quiet for the time being, his mind travelling back to Japan’s history. There was the emperor who was overthrown by the shogunate, and when the samurais were no longer effective to run the country, the power was brought back to the emperor. Jace reached for a lock of his hair, and pulled it as he racked his brain for an answer. What drove the samurais to over-throw the emperor? For power? It might be, but he knew there was a bigger fish...there is always a bigger fish anyway.
Blinking, Jace slowly raised his hand this time and offered his answer. “Opposing parties wanted control over power, whether their principles are right or wrong?” the Ravenclaw wasn’t entirely sure, but it was the best answer he could think of. “That way...they can manipulate the law to their advantage, because the Law dictates Order.” See, sometimes being a son of someone who works for Diplomacy has its perks too. Give this little kid a few more years, and he could be sitting next to the Supreme Mugwump.

After answering to the professor's question he looked down at the sketch Elsa was working on. What is this? It’s definitely not my face. Was she even looking at me or someone else. He was sure he didn’t look anything like that. He then looked at her apologetic face and realized she was thinking about the topic while drawing that. He gave her its okay look. "Never mind I’m sure you can do better" Maybe they could make some time where she could sketch his face without any distractions only concentrating on his face.

Oh, and there was another that hadn’t been mentioned. Ansley nodded at Sam as she contributed her answer. “Right, those were about two hundred years ago. Giants and wizards haven’t always gotten along unfortunately.” He added that one to the board as well.
Ansley nodded at Mason to call on her when she raised her hand. Well, someone read the text book. He smiled lightly as she had quite a bit to contribute, listening until she was finished. “Good… the First Wizarding War was another very impactful and well-known war as well.” Maybe not quite as well known to these kids as the second one being that was more recent, but it was relatively well known all the same. “That was really Voldemort’s first reign of power.
Ansley called on Kitty next as he saw her hand in the air, listening as she spoke. “Alright, good,” he nodded, once she was finished. He could tell that Kitty was genuinely interested in history which was always nice to see. It made his job easier. “Those are several conflicts – goblin rebellions, which there are a few, and the First and Second Wizarding Wars.” He added what Kitty said about them on the board as well. “And Voldemort was the antagonist in both those wars, inspiring Voldemortist, who although was terrible himself, did not cause great wars.” Thankfully.
What do you think they are? And why do you think people found it necessary to fight these wars or engage in battle?” Higher order thinking time, class. He was eager to see what students thought about what they might feel was important.
He then turned towards the professor who was now writing down all the points on the board. Maybe he should make a note of all these as well. He took his quill and started writing down the points professor had mentioned on the board. Writing down he heard he professor ask something.
Things in common? Reason for the battle? Maybe it was their ego that made them do such things? Their way of thinking and discrimination between people. Dividing humans on different levels. What can he say there were so many reasons. He made some points in his mind and raised his hand "Professor, Some people tend to differentiate between people higher level and lower lever. Their ego makes them think that they are better and should be treated differently. They fight battle to make themselves superior and to concur the world. But Sometimes wars are fought to make a stand for what is right. For equality." He didn't know if his answer was right he just burred out something he thought and felt about the wars.

Carl jotted down some notes from the blackboard as Professor Finch talked about Wizarding conflicts. There was a lot of information to take in, so he focused on the stuff he thought was important, like baby Harry Potter ending the First Wizarding War using love magic! He put his quill down and thought about the next questions.
There were some really good answers coming up, things he had never even considered. Raising his hand, the First Year said, "I agree with Tia. The conflicts all began with a difference in opinions, and then the arguments became violent." And he didn't like violence. Why couldn't the people deal with their problems peacefully?

There was something about being a fifth year that just made her so tired. All the note taking. Was it just her or was it really more then every other term combined so far? Every lesson seemed to have more and more being said and that meant there was tons of writing for her to do. It was to the point where it was stressful sometimes and she wasn't always willing to answer a question asked due to wanting to keep on top of her note taking.
Not having answered the first question though Hady figured she should at least say something about the matter being spoken of. "I agree with most everyone here when saying that it's all about sides believing they're fighting for the right cause or for more power." A simple answer but it was something. Now she could continue writing this all down.
