History of Magic Lesson Two As you walk into the History of Magic classroom, you will see that the room is set up as Professor Finch usually has it. The tables with four chairs at each one are set up throughout the room, but the name tags that have been there most of the year are gone. He has permitted students to sit where they want today, within reason. Professor Finch is found leaning casually against his desk at the front of the room, waiting for students to arrive as he greets each one. "Good morning! Find a seat and we'll begin shortly." Hopefully they could have a little fun once they got the necessary learning out of the way, though he hoped both would be a memorable learning experience. OOC- Although this is our 2nd and last RPed History of Magic class of the term, you can presume that we had class all year even if it was not RPed. |
Rachel was definitely not going to miss a History of Magic lesson, not when it was being taught by one of her favourite members of staff. A smile on her face, she gracefully entered the class. "Good morning, Professor Finch. I cannot wait to see what you have in store for us today.'' She looked around the room, noticing that it was set up as usual minus the name tags. As usual, the Eagle opted for a seat closest to the front of the room. Once seated, she retrieved her books and writing apparatus. All that was left was for the lesson to begin. But first they needed the other students. Hopefully none of them had slept in. |
Kitty walked into the History of Magic classroom and cheerfully made her way over to the front row, noticing with interest how there weren't any nametags this time. "Good Morning Professor Ansley! How are you?" Professor Finch was her absolute favorite teacher, and History of Magic was her favorite class, so she was always happy in this classroom. She went to sit down close to Rachel and put her book on the desk. "Hey Rachel. What's up?" While they waited for the others to show up, Kitty absent mindedly took out her comb and started combing her hair. It didn't need to be combed but it was a habit she did when waiting. History of Magic was awesome! |
History of Magic! Azura was yawning slightly as she made her way into the classroom and smiled brightly at the Professor! "Good morning Professor!" She said as she stifled another yawn before looking around the room to see Rachel and Kitty! She smiled at her friends and fellow Ravvies and sat down next to them. "Hey guys, how's it going?" the purple eyed girl asked as she pulled out her parchment and her sapphire blue quill. |
Aaaaaaaaaand zoom. Jaemin practically flew into the classroom, bouncing the entire way; even this far into term, he was still super excited about this class. He'd had to deal with years of Muggle History while knowing that there was an entire Magical History that he knew nothing about... so there were so few things that could crush his excitement for a class that others might find boring. Plus, he really loved Bird Professor from the Train. He was interesting. "Hi professor, sir!" The small Slytherin automatically assumed that the lack of nametags meant that he could sit wherever his little heart desired; Bird Professor confirmed that, and Jaemin beamed as he put himself right at the very front of the class, as close to the professor as he could get. WHAT WERE THEY LEARNING TODAY?! He tried his best to sit still in his seat, eyes fixed on the professor almost impatiently. |
The school year was quickly coming to a close, and Ariadne was in much better spirits about class than she normally was. She DID like class, but sometimes it was a pain to have to get up and get going very early in the morning. She was excited about summer, though, and as good of a school year as she had had, she was ready to get home to her mom and dad! "Hii, Professor!" she said, making her way into the room. She started to head to her usual table but noticed there weren't any actual name tags on them anymore. Okay, then. FREE TABLE it is! Ariadne chose a random table and sat down, leaving room for three more people to join her. |
Albeit a Ravenclaw, Jace is so over school already. As he treaded to where the History classroom was, he could not help but think about his trip back home, and all the stuff he'd bring as gifts to his older brother and mum. He's excited to go home, making him less attentive in recent lectures. He's being a bad student, yes, but it's not as if his dad would know, right? Even if he doesn't feel like going to class, he was there, standing by the doorway, ready to greet the professor. "Ohayo, Professor Finch." See? Present. After inclining his head respectfully to the man, he chose the table where Ariadne sat. "Hello, Ariadne. Ohayo." Giving his Slytherin friend a smile, Jace went on to open his bag and prepared for the day's lesson. |
It was time to learn some history again. Gabi was always wanted to learn more about our people. Though he didn’t remember much from the first class as he'd spent that sleeping but that a secret. He promised to pay attention to this one and take notes when needed. He walked in the room looking around the class as it was step up the same as always only that the name tags were missing this time. Yay, free to sit wherever He Moved to the last row and took the first table. Putting his bag aside he greeted the professor "Hello Professor, How are you" |
History was boring, but there was no way that Esme was going to miss a lesson taught by Professor Handsome. Not only was he good looking, but he was a cool guy. That was two good things in her book even though she couldn't care less about things like goblin rebellions and ancient wizards. Hopefully this lesson will be fun. "Hello, Professor Finch." He got a smile and so did her friends. Happily she joined Rachel, Kitty, and Azura. She was the only yellow in a sea of blue but this wasn't the only time she had felt this way. A lot of her closest friends were in Ravenclaw though of course she was closest to her sister. |
Mason was late, so so so so late, or at least she thought that she was late. She had overslept She stopped before the History of Magic classroom and practiced her excuse one more time. Sorry, Professor! A blast-ended thingy broke into our dorm-room and held us captive at wandpoint. Not a very good excuse, but it was all she could think of. So she gathered her nerves, opened the door and stuck her head inside. Instead of an entire class full of people, there were only a few, less than ten. Relief washed over Mason like the shower of rain in the Great Hall. "Good morning, Professor!" She greeted him warmly, "I can't wait to see what we're learning today." Mason spotted Rachel, Azy, Esme and Kitty all sitting together. Makes finding a seat that much easier. She gave a dramatic sigh and plopped down at a desk near them, "I know guys, I look gorgeous." She had been up all night trying to find some more. . . information. . . on the whole Tapestry-thingy. She also hadn't been sleeping all to well after the Neck Breather thing that had been in her and Ariadne's dorm. This school was a lot weirder than she had thought it would be. . . maybe she could ask Prof. Finch if he knew anything about the Tapestry. . . |
History of magic was a class he had a hate love relationship with. He didn’t particularly like it but he didn’t dislike it either. Like Herbology it was ‘eh’ in his opinion. Yoongi stepped inside of the classroom. It looked like a normal classroom should look like. With rows of desks and chairs. Although he had only slept an hour or three last night, the dark circles under his eyes were prominent and his Head Boy badge was pinned on upside down on his uniform, he still looked to be in a good mood. He spotted the Professor leaning against his own desk and the Gryffindor decided to greet him first before finding a seat. “Good day, Professor Finch” he gave a smile and a nod of his head before finding a seat. |
Mind if I sit? Quote:
"Mind if I sit?" she asked the Gryffindor while pulling a chair to his table. |
She was here! Just a tad bit later then her normally early self but yet still right on time. Studying was slowly beginning to take it's mark on her as she tried to fit in as much as she could around her lessons, homework and all her extra activities she refused to give up on. Somehow though the fifth year was keeping up surprising well and was in a great mood. So much good news had come her way lately so really how could she not be all smiles. And a bright smile was on her face as she walked through the doorway and into History of Magic. "Good morning, Professor Finch. I hope you're having a pleasant day so far?" Hadleigh greeted warmly as she started for her usual seat taking notice just then that the name tags on the tables were no longer present. Hmm well alright. Not bothered at all by this she simply selected the first empty seat she came across and went about taking out her things and setting them out on her desk. Since she had a few moments left before the lesson officially began she took out an extra sheet of parchment on which she began to sketch random items around her. Might as well get a little practice in since she had a free moment. |

Janelle arrived for History of Magic class in a cheerful mood. "Hello Professor Finch", she said as she entered the classroom. Heading toward her seat, she noticed something out of the ordinary. There were no nametags on the desks. What was up with that? Although it seemed that they had their choice of seat today, Janelle headed for her usual spot. When she reached her previously assigned seat, she sat down and got comfortable. Well she got as comfortable as possible on a classroom chair. Then Janelle began to unpack her book bag and prepare for the start of class. Hopefully it wouldn't be too long now. |
Please, have a seat! :) Quote:
Lost in thoughts he was moved as a girl walked to the table he was sitting on. Oh he always liked some company at least he won’t be alone if the class seemed to be unbearable. He smiled as he noticed the girl take a seat next to him and moved his bag on the other side. "Sure, have a seat" he replied. He noticed students still coming in. He was just about to introduce himself but the girl was waving at one of her friends asking her to join us. Great! Now he certainly was looking forward to this class. "Hey, I'm Gabriel" he said as the girl was done waving. |

"Mind if I sketch you, Gabriel the Gryffindor?" she asked, eyeing the symbol on his robes "Are you also a first year? I'm a first year!" she couldn't tell really in which year people were. She sketched a little further. She didn't mind the stereotypes, unlike Colt that had fun with them. So far everyone had been nice and pleasant to her. She hoped this boy didn't mind her being a Slytherin. |
History of Magic. A class that she enjoyed and found quite useful as a break from magic. And a lot of learning about various topics and famous people. Hogwarts a History expanded into the wizarding world. With her books and supplies, she made her way down to the classroom taking note of the room and the people within. “Hello Professor,” he greeted, giving a polite smile and nod to Professor Finch who was leaning at his desk. As for finding a place to sit, Olivia moved to find her nametag…only to find there weren’t nametags this time around. Okay, she was up for more random seating. “Hey Guys,” she greeted Rachel, Kitty, Azura and Esme with a smile as she walked past them to take a seat at the desk behind them. The Ravenclaw unpacking her things as she sat down to be right and ready when the lesson was ready to begin. |
SPOILER!!: individual hellos Was it just him or were there a lot fewer students in his classroom today than normal? Ansley wasn't sure where everyone was, but he kind of suspected the warmer weather had something to do with it. Well, if skipping students were outside, they'd soon catch up to them if all went well anyway. But for now, he was getting class started. "Good morning, class!" Ansley greeted everyone with a slightly louder voice to get everyone's attention and to signal that personal conversations were to come to an end. "Let's get started... I'm hoping to reward everyone with a little fun at the end of class, but let's get our discussion going first." Not that a discussion couldn't be fun in it's own right, but he thought they'd like what came next a little more. Plus they could relate the two. "Our topic for discussion today are wizarding battles, rebellions, and skirmishes. There have been many battles throughout magical history for a variety of reasons. What do you already know about them? Can anyone name one?" He'd actually like everyone to name one, or at least contribute to the discussion. "Or if someone names one that you know, maybe you could add a fact or piece of information about it.." He had his wand ready to add answers to the blackboard. |
Jace sat on his seat straighter as soon as the man up front signalled that they were to start the class. The Ravenclaw's mind got side-tracked for a moment when the professor mentioned the word reward. As an exchange student from Mahou, rewards were unusual. It's all about hard work in that school, which, by the way, he loved. It made him a better wizard. With a nod in understanding, Jace leaned on his thick History book as the professor started to talk. Oooh. They are going to talk about the Second Wizarding War now, right? For some reason, Jace was fascinated about this. Missing Ariadne's head by a centimetre, the Ravenclaw's hand shot up in the air, and answered the professor's question when it was his turn. "A lot of skirmishes happened during the Second Wizarding War, professor." And the big ones happened right in Hogwarts! "One of them would be the Skirmish at the Malfoy Manor, in Wiltshire." That event was a dramatic one. Everyone found themselves as equals during the escape. Very epic, and very sad at the same time. |
The professor calling him by his first name only made the small boy smile that much brighter. A lot of the time he was Mr. Song, or Jay. But he liked his first name a lot more than either of those, so when Bird Professor said it, the diminutive Slytherin lit up happily. There were lots and lots of little battles in Magical History that Jaemin knew of sort of... just a little bit? But they were less important individually to him than the actual big picture they were a part of, so he didn't remember a lot of them. Just, you know, that they had happened. There were exceptions to that, of course. One major one immediately came to mind, and he made sure to call it out with the raise of his hand. "There was a big battle right here at Hogwarts, like... a hundred years ago." A little less than that. That was one that Jaemin had known of before he'd even come to Hogwarts. "With Harry Potter and stuff? It was really big and it ended the war..." And a whole lot of people had died. Students. Which was awful. |
Azura smiled at her friends as they all sat next to her, and she looked up at the Professor as he asked the question about famous wizarding battles.. Hmm.. She wasn't sure if she should mention the most obvious one.. But might as well get it out of the way! She raised her hand and smiled at the Professor. "Adding to Jaemin's answer about the Battle of Hogwarts, Neville Longbottom pulled the sword of Gryffindor out of the sorting hat and killed Nagini, effectively banishing the horcrux in the snake and making it easier for Harry Potter to kill Voldemort. " Yeah, it was famous, but lots of people would be able to state facts about it! So might as well get the answer out of the way!! |
Text Cut: Stefan! Oh, heyyy! She had company, and it was Jace at that! "Heyy, Jace!" she greeted, scooting over her books to make more room for him. Jace was awesome. Ariadne had met him earlier in the school year, and they'd gotten along pretty well. She was going to say something else to him, but... Text Cut: emjay ...the sound of the professor's voice indicated that class was starting. Ariadne turned her attention toward the professor. Wars and battles. COOL! Ariadne remembered reading about how Hermione Granger had PUNCHED Draco Malfoy right out there on the grounds of the school. That must have been SUPER AWESOME, but she doubted the professor was looking for that kind of answer. "What about the Global Wizarding War?" she asked, raising her hand. "Supposedly, this wizard named Grindelwald tried to take over the Ministry of Magic, create his OWN empire, and control the Muggles." And people said VOLDEMORT was scary. |
Yes, Ava was here. She didn't come late to the class and she already sat on the usual table of her. If she could, she was gonna skip this class because History wasn't her thing. But this was the core subject and her mother wouldn't be happy if she knew she skipped a class. Sigh. Once the Professor had started spoken, the young lioness tried to pay attention the his talk. The battle, skirmishes and rebellions? Hmmm.... And all the students were talking about the second wizarding war that happened in Voldemort era. "The goblin rebellion, sir." Ava put on her hand up in the air and answered the question. |
In no time Rachel's was joined by Kitty, Azura and Esme. She smiled broadly. "Hello, girls.'' She like how Esme stuck out, being the sole Hufflepuff there. She returned greetings to Mason and Olivia who sat nearby. The Eagles always seemed to gravitate towards each other, didn't they? The first year directed her attention to Professor Finch aka Professor Handsome as he got started. Their topic was one she had read briefly on. Briefly because she was not fond of conflict of any kind. She did know of a few of these though. Ava had already named the one she had in mind. "Sites of Historical Sorcery mentions that one of the inns in Hogsmeade was the headquarters for the Goblin rebellion of 1612,'' she supplied, hand in the air. |
