Welcome to your first duel!
This is a key stepping stone into determining your placement in the Hex Tournament so please take this seriously. A list of spells to use can be found HERE while the cost of physical actions can be found below.
Please note that these actions take away from the Fatigue Points section. Also note that these are only taken into account if you're attacking or avoiding a spell. If you're simply moving around the hall, these points don't need to be considered.
_______________
A referee (either Professor Airey or Professor Hirsch) will be present to oversee the duels and will only interfere if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.
Please remember to adhere to the Dueling Club rules, the DADA rules as well as the SS Site rules.
Good luck!

The slytherin was excited to be able to duel someone his age. He had no idea who he was versing till he came here today. He checked his name on the list and saw he was versing Amur. Perrrffecctt. This was going to be fun. As he approached the dueling arena, he saw Amur on the other side. He went to her and held out his hand for her to shake. "May the best duler win." He walked back to take his place and thought of a spell to use. He would go easy on her and said, "IMPEDIMENTA!"
He hoped the spell would have make Amur knock back from where she stood.

So, Amur wasn't really sure about this dueling thing being her thing. She didn't mind picking fights, or even finishing them, but there was something different about this type of fighting. Mostly in the realm of the fact that her knowledge of spells was vastly limited, her wand movements even more so and her quick thinking even less when it came to trying to sputter out the sort-of-Latin-language.
Still, she put on her brave face. Did a brave handshake and nod to Colt's sentiments, and thought about turning his shoes to dragons right then and there. Because, how awesome would that be?
But no. Bows were first. Then, apparently, figuring out what to do next was second.
It involved a sort of bobbing dance of indecision as whether to dart left or right, while her feet were still stuck in the same place. Needless to say, she was right dead center where she had straightened from the bow when the spell got her right in the gut. The world tilted and tipped as heels went over head and head went over heels.
A couple of sure brusies later, Amur skidded to a half and coughed up the bit of dust that she had inhaled. Well, wasn't that just rude? Pushing herself to her hands and knees, Amur immediately flicked her wand towards the boy's trousers. "Incendio!"
Really, if she could have thought how to put ants in his pants instead, she totally would have done that. But, she was feeling a bit irrate at getting knocked with the first spell and there was nothing quite like saying it was 'on', as casting a nice jet of fire at someone.

| H: 225, m: 220, f: 20 Stephanoodle || Adorable Nerd After shaking their hands, yes yes he remembered to do that. You're supposed to do that before every duel. Colt smirked at Amur. She wasn't paying attention so she got hit with the spell. I mean he was going easy on her to say the least. He saw her trip and he gave her the evil smirk. She seemed mad at him but it probably made her cast better. He tried to get in better position and wondered what she could possibly cast. Amur did it so fast and she flicked her wand and he couldn't make out the spell and he felt his robes get caught on fire. He felt the heat but it wasn't bad. It was a little fire. Nothing he couldn't handle. He took off his robes and he stomped on his robes to get the fire out. "Well played Amur.." he noted.
Now to find another spell that could take her down. He thought of the spell he loved to use at Durmstrang and went with it, "Levicorpus!" and he hoped it worked!

Truth be told, she didn't actually expect her spell to work. Was it satisfying? Most definitely. Even if she was a little bit worried about potential injury to Colt. Sure, she wanted to get back at him, but no she didn't want to hurt or scar him.
That bit of grace however, might have seeped away a little bit as she caught wind of his next cast. OH NO HE DIDN'T!
Except that he did. He totally did.
Something of a string of incoherent words left Amur as she dived out of the way of the spell, nearly rolling right off the platform. She caught herself with her hands on the edge, shooting a dangerous look back at her opponent.
All at once, she thought that boogy-bats attacking him inside a pumpkin head would be a brilliant return. So, she shot to her feet and gave her wand two quick flicks. The first was the bat boogey hex and then... "MELOFORS!"

| urine trouble | Pat's Strong Confident Other Half | Pees Like a Champion Unicorn Racehorse Truth be told, Hirsch had been looking forward to this duel. Miss Neverwinter's dragon had piqued his interest and he wanted to see how she'd perform in a duel setting. Something like that wasn't going to be easy to create under pressure, unless she had adapted to it. And then there was Mr Winchester and his answers from the muggle defence lesson.
All in all, this was a good pairing.
That was, until fire made its way into the picture.
In all honesty, he didn't understand Gryffindors and their need to set fire to, well, everything. Was this their go-to attack method? Should he be worried? The man remembered the incident that had happened with Katherine Moss and he was almost jumping up to rectify the situation when Mr Winchester seemed to have had a handle on it. Good.
Again, Hirsch, breathe.
Slinking back into the shadows, he continued watching the duel until........... yep, there you go. When the time was up, he appeared again and cast up a magical shield between the two contestants. "Excellent dueling, you two! Very well done." Not that he expected anything less. "There can only be one winner and, while you put up a brave fight, Miss Neverwinter, Mr Winchester has taken the lead. Congratulations!" Stats: Colt Winchester: 93.92% Amur Neverwinter: 74.33%
