Alice looked at this statue.. Who was this guy? he probably thought He was cool or something. But he looked pretty lame and stuffy. He probably did something lame and stuffy too.

Alice wanted to learn about someone cool, someone who did something interesting. Any statues of those guys? She didn't have Diaval with her today. The Raven in his birdcage. He'd survive a little while without her. Besides people are apparently a little put off to see a Raven on a girl's shoulder for some reason. You'd think people who did magic would have a higher tolerance for weird.

Another day, another walk, and more dull thump thump thumping of a pet rock on her pink leash as she was dragged about the castle by an Astronomy professor of questionable sanity.

And a man who had a high tolerance for weird, for the record.

"Good day, Miss Lupin," he greeted with a casual salute as he made his way by the first year.

Alice looked over to the Professor she had heard so much about, That he was crazy or silly or fun or amazing. But what to believe? People could have been messing with her after all.

"Professor Flamsteed.. Is that a rock?" She had a bone to pick with the man but this was a bigger concern than having to clean.. She was looking at a man pulling a rock. Waht.

"She most certainly is," he boasted as he bent down to scoop up the rock in question. "Purchased her from a muggle hobby shop in London." One of the best purchases he had made in his personal life in a long while, if he did say so himself. Aside from collectible Star Trek action figures. And new suits and ties. But it was rather difficult to prioritize those three things.

Alice raised an eyebrow. "So your pet is a rock..?" Hoe was this man so weird? Who thought it was a good idea to let him teach? "Riiiight.. well that's interesting."

The firstie then remembered that she had a bone to pick with him. "Professor, i find it highly unfair that i had to help clean at the feast. I didn't even throw any food. Did you even think about that?" Did he? It seemed like he didn't.

"Would you like one?" he asked sincerely. Rhetorically really because who wouldn't want a pet rock? "Prefect Wright helped me host an adoption fair a few terms back and I still have a few looking for a good home."

Fair. Students seemed to like using that word a lot. Particularly when things did not go their way. THAT hardly seemed fair to the rest of the world. It all depended greatly on one's own point of view and teenagers tended to be rather narrow minded.

"I did."

Alice shook her head. "I already have a pet. He's a Raven." She wasn't super concerned with pet rocks, also she didn't know who Prefect Wright was either. "If i know of anyone who wants a pet i'll let you know."

Oh.. so now he wasn't even listening. Why did adults so often refuse to take children seriously. "So how was it fair? I behaved.. It was an awful first night here." She crossed her arms, a big pout on her face.

Clearly, his memo about how pet rocks were a clear exception to the one pet only rule at Hogwarts had not been published as he had requested. Although given the state that the former Headmaster had left the school, well, it was not terribly surprising. "Pet rocks make for great additions and get along well with all creatures, raven's included," he informed Miss Lupin. "An acceptable secondary pet as well."

Head of House approved and everything. Merlin knew what Draper would say, however. Bloke didn't even like gourmet marshmallows.

"It was," he agreed. "And I hardly find it fair that my meal was ruined." The man actually could not remember how many feasts he had actually be able to sit down and eat in its entirety. Although not all of them ended in raging teenage angst in the form of food throwing. "You were not the only 'well behaved' student who had to clean up that night."

She wasn't going to just put them down to his face. "I'll keep that in mind, Professor." Cause what else could you really say to a man walking a pet rock?

"See that you do," he nodded. "And my office is open any time you wish to stop by and visit potential adoptees." He had plenty still. Miss Wright had been rather efficient in her efforts previously finding lost little things that needed their forever home.

Airey let the first year get the words off her chest. Words that, seeing how passionately she was speaking, had been wanting to say for a while now. So he was trying his best not to look amused by what she said, it would only elicit more early teenage angst that he had had more than enough of already. "I understand what you are saying, Miss Lupin," he assured her. Which he did. English was his native language, after all. "And you are entitled to your opinion and may very well continue to not agree with my methods." All fine, it was within her right to do so. "Just as an individual's triumphs and tresspassings earn and lose their house points, which effects the entire house, so did the punishment at that time. You survived just fine."

And perhaps would keep all this in mind the next time a similar situation arose.

Alice was done talking about rocks, pet or otherwise. Hmm. She was very annoyed right now. Her furrowed brow and focused blue eyes watched as her Head of House retorted.. He had nothing good to even say!

"So it's just fine to punish a bunch of people for no reason? When some of them don't even know the rules?" People should hear about this! They should protest! Maybe she should lead one outside his office! All the innocent Gryffindors or even anyone else who had suffered under such silly rules! "That isn't right." Following the rules shouldn't end in punishment.

Luckily, Ragesteed was not in the building today. Although it could be a little hard to predict if or when that man would resurface. The professor was a little more on edge this term than ever before, by no fault of Miss Lupin's.

"Are you telling me, Miss Lupin, that you know of places where throwing food and starting a food fight is acceptable and encouraged?" he asked, brow raised. Because he was under the impression that it was common knowledge that that was not acceptable behavior and not something that needed to be spelled out for them.

Save for maybe a few Ravenclaws.


....and clearly the majority of Gryffindor house...including its house ghost.

Bag hanging off one shoulder, shirt entirely untucked and green tie askew, Suri was the picture of what a Hogwarts student should probably not look like. Naturally, Suri cared about this almost as much as she cared about the state of her astronomy charts; which is to say, not one bit because astronomy charts were stupid anyways she KNEW the planets, why did she need to calculate the distance between them in what possible universe would that help anyone ever??

Sigh. Hogwarts was dumb sometimes.

As it were, the twelve year old was rather preoccupied this afternoon, and it had nothing to do with astronomy or her muddy shoes. Clutching a letter in one hand and a small photograph in the other, Suri's face was scrunched up in intense confusion. Pausing suddenly in the middle of the corridor, she sighed and moved to lean against the wall, sliding down until she was sitting on the floor.

The three and a half people in the photograph waved cheerily at her. She scowled at them.

Rooney was well aware that his days at school would only get worse over the next few years what with exams and career choices, but that didn't stop him from having a year full of stress. He was only thirteen! He was just a lad, according to his dad. But lads his age weren't so unsure of everything, and also sure of everything else. Were they? Was something just wrong with him that he had gone to so much trouble to skirt around telling Miss Charlotte that he liked her, only to back off and re-evaluate. He'd had a blast over the holidays when they'd gone to see a show together. And it was pretty evident that she knew how to make him smile. But they were just both thirteen and Roo had so many plans for the rest of his life that he couldn't quite fit in a girl.

Besides, this girl would take so much energy to keep up with if he even wanted to try keep her at all. Gryffindors.

With a sigh as he walked, Rooney considered his options as he always did. With a 10 year plan for each of them. And then another sigh when his thoughts fled to an ex-student who was probably planning her own future with a Gryffindor.

Maybe he was supposed to be with a Gryffindor if he was to be like Miss Sophie Brown.

Abby stopped by the statue of Gregory the Smarmy and sighed she wasn't ready to leave Hogwarts but she had no choice because after next year she was going to playing qudditch with the Ballycastle Bats as they had offered her a place on there reserve squad for after she graduated which she had accepted and she was happy about that

Kitty wandered through the castle, humming merrily to herself as she explored, thinking about her pet worms back at home, and about how she was going to ask Professor Kitridge or the Headmistress for permission to bring them to Hogwarts next term. She was wearing a black sleeveless dress and her long black hair was painted pink on the left and right sides and she was wearing her usual Gothic makeup: dark eyeliner, black lipstick, and black nails, along with very pale face paint.

She saw another Ravenclaw standing by the statue of Gregory the Smarmy and approached her. "Hello," she said, coming to a stop and smiling pleasantly at the older Ravenclaw. "Are you okay?" She asked because the Ravenclaw looked a little sad. "My name is Kitty DuGray Valentine, but you can call me Kitty for short." She extended her pale hand towards the girl.

Abby looked at the younger eagle and said "Yeah i am fine thanks Kitty i was just thinking about my future after Hogwarts and it is a pleasure to meet you, I am Abby Valentine and it is so strange to meet somebody with the same surname as me and we aren't even related" Abby was stating a truth but she could tell that Kitty was a good person

Kitty's eyes widened in surprise when Abby revealed her surname. It looked like she was not the only Valentine at Hogwarts. "Cool! Nice to meet you Abby. But how do you know we are not related? Maybe we are distant cousins." That would be so cool if they were.

Abby shrugged and said "Well i don't know im only guessing we could be but i was born in the muggleworld so when i first came to Hogwarts it was all a brand new experience to me"

Oh then maybe we aren't," said Kitty, feeling just a little disappointed that they weren't related. "My dad is a muggle, but I'm named Valentine because of my mom - that's her surname. Since she's a witch we are probably not related. But then again, we MIGHT be very distantly related. But it doesn't matter, it's cool that we're both Valentines either way." Kitty hugged Abby. "So what were you thinking of doing after Hogwarts?"

Abby smiled at Kitty and said "Well you never know we may be related and well i am going to be playing qudditch professionally im starting out on the reserve squad with the Ballycastle Bats" Abby was looking forward to her new career

"Hopefully we are related," Kitty smiled back at her new friend and listened admiringly as she talked about joining a Quidditch team. "You're joining a real Quidditch team? Cool! I'm too scared to ride a broom but I like watching it. Did you play at Hogwarts?"

Abby nodded and said "Yeah it is cool Kitty and no i haven't played at Hogwarts because in all the time that i have been at Hogwarts there has been no qudditch at all but i have gone to professional games during the holidays"

Kitty was surprised to learn that there wasn't any Quidditch at Hogwarts. "Really? I wonder why they don't have it anymore. I know from reading the adventures of Harry Potter that they used to have it." That was strange. "I don't know what I am going to be when I leave Hogwarts. My mom wants me to be a journalist like she was but I don't know. It's a long ways away anyway and I wish I could stay at Hogwarts forever."
