The Greenhouses are all kept neat and tidy by Professor Myers. Each one is evenly spaced out in their residing spot outside of the castle. There are five greenhouses, all of them done up to Professor Myer's idea of organization, which carefully follows past organization of the greenhouses with just a few changes. The air is a little crisper out here, students.
Greenhouses one through three are open to student aid and experimentation. If you're careful and confident, you can feel free to tend to the Venemous Tentaculas in Greenhouse Three or engage in a playful tug-of-war with the Devil's Snare in the Greenhouse Two. If you traipse through each greenhouse, you will identify almost every sort of magical plant that has ever been taught at Hogwarts. Bubotubers, puffapods, fanged geraniums, biting toadstools, flesh-eating shrubs, and so on..... and that's not even mentioning the assortment of Muggle flowers in Greenhouse One!
Each greenhouse has little shelves for cute or ordinary pots, as well as racks of tools and any other necessities you may need in the large corner cabinets. There's plenty of lab tables for setting up your own tinkering station, and sinks to clean up in too. Don't forget to add to the compost pile behind the greenhouses when you're done with your trimming!
OOC: Here's a basic guide of what you might find in each greenhouse; please remember to play realistically based on your character's age and skill level!

Bunbury's Marvelous Malignant Gillyweed Maze [from Lesson Two of Term 22]
FINALLY. Jaemin had finally figured out where the greenhouses were in this giant school place. It was only the most important part of the whole school, and he was almost upset that it had taken him more than five minutes to figure out where to go. The small boy stood outside of them, standing back far enough that he could look from greenhouse to greenhouse. THERE WERE SO MANY CHOICES. How was he supposed to decide which one he would go into first?!
This was a very important decision. The eleven year old just knew that whichever one he chose first would have a huge, gigantic impact on his future as a Herbologist. Not that he knew why that was, but... well he could feel it. In his belly.
Maybe he should just go for the first one? You should always start at the beginning, after all... work your way up, right? But the other ones were so tempting. He shuffled this way and that, touching each of the greenhouses' door handles. Maybe he should peek inside of them all before making a decision? Was that cheating? He wasn't sure.
He pulled the door of the fourth one open, just a smidge, and squinted inside. Maybe if he could identify some of the plants he could see just from here, it would mean that he should go in...
Paul was a hummer and a whistler. It just depended on what he was in the mood to do...and today, apparently, it was whistling. So Paul Myers whistled as he worked, going through each Greenhouse and making sure everything was in order. Didn't some of his students want to help? He needed to start recruiting, honestly. It was just a lot of work for one man!
By the time he got to number Four, he was tired, beading with sweat a tiny bit, and a little yawny.
...was that a student?
Paul cleared his throat. "Young man, you look a bit..below the age I normally allow in there alone..." he raised an eyebrow. Had the kid been THINKING of going in there?
He hoped not.

Young Jessie staring at the Greenhouses . She heard some voices debated inside her head.
And the Evil won.
She made a few step closer to the fourth greenhouse which is its door is open. Her eyes sparkling in awesomeness.
She was take a peek into other three greenhouses before. And she found out various plants. From the little plants in cute pots, beautiful flowers which is look so familiar with the flower in Muggle gardens, until the giant ones.
But it different.
The plants in the fourth greenhouse seemed more... magical? Evil?
Jessie was sure that it's her first time to see those plants. Maybe she must go back to the castle before other peoples caught her.
But when she almost leaving the greenhouse, she could hear the voices of clearing a throat.
Jessie canceled her plan and walked inside the fourth greenhouse. She noticed two peoples in front of her. Their back facing her petite body. Nearest her, standing a man. Is he the professor? And the second one, a little boy around her age. Wearing same uniform like her. So he must be the student like her.
But wait...what happened here?
the situation feel so akward forJeslyn. And the most important question is.... why is she to be here?
When he heard the man's voice, Jaemin immediately jerked back from the door, letting it bang closed. The little boy turned around and blinked up at the man, a tinge of guilt going through him. He wasn't allowed to go in??? But he wanted to. Everything had looked so interesting, even if he couldn't identify the things he could see from the door.
"I didn't go in!" he protested, pointing at the door as if it had accused him of something. "I was just trying to see... um..."
Wait. This person was clearly not a student. He was even older than Train Professor. Clearly a grown-up. And he was near the greenhouses. Which meant...
"Are you the professor?!" Jaemin gasped, voice tinged with excitement. This was the professor he wanted to meet most! This was great! His hands went up, as if he were going to grab the man's sleeve to tug at it excitedly, but he caught himself and his little hands twitched as he pulled them against his tummy instead. He was vaguely aware of a girl standing nearby, but that didn't matter to him. The most important professor was hereeee! "The Herbology professor!"
No, the boy had NOT gone in because Paul had stopped him. If Paul HADN'T been here...he probably WOULD have gone in and gotten himself KILLED. And then Paul would have felt bad for all eternity. Eternal guilt.
So he merely raised an eyebrow at the kid.
And then...the...proclamation of his job title. The Herbology Professor.
"Yes...that would me, Professor Myers," he said, gesturing at his chest. "And what is your name, m'boy---AH!" he snapped his fingers at ANOTHER small one trying to get into Greenhouse Four.
"And WHO are you, m'dear?" he asked the girl, trying not to sound stern. "You BOTH want to go in the super difficult Greenhouse? The one with dangerous plants and...I don't know, things that could EAT YOU?" he asked, all menacingly.

Professor Myers. The boy immediately committed that to memory, bouncing on the balls of his feet a bit. He'd have to write dad and tell him, just in case he didn't know... he probably did know but Jay had to tell him anyway. He had to find out everything that dad knew about him, if anything at all!
He'd been about to supply his name before the professor had called out to another girl to stop her from going inside. If Jaemin wasn't allowed to go in, why would she be allowed?! Silly girl. Surely Jaemin knew more about plants than she did! He looked at her for a long minute before looking back up at the professor.
"My name is Jaemin Song, sir!" he managed finally, gaze moving from the professor to the greenhouse again. Of course he wanted to go inside! He wasn't gonna touch anything... "I just wanted to see what plants were in there. Dad lets me look at lots of his plants... I wanted to see if I could recognise any of them."
The plants wouldn't kill him. He was a smart little future Herbologist! He looked back up at the professor and smiled brightly again.
"Do you have Snargaluffs in there?" he almost seemed to shiver in excitement. "Dad wouldn't ever bring those home for me to see."
He'd been given loads of puffapods to play with though.
Jessie stepped back automatically. She getting caught by the professor. Professor Myers. His fingers pointed at her.
" So-sorry,sir. I am Jessie. I was in my Hogwarts explore times when found this place. I think this place is very interesting, so my curiousity lead me here"
Did the professor mentioned about the plants can eat her? ... wait, eat her??
Jessie heard the boy speaks again and seems like he's so exited. The girl can't understand what he talking about. Maybe kind of plants?
Jessie stole a glance at the boy and moving to the professor before scanning the entire greenhouse four.
Song....Paul raised an eyebrow. "Are your...are you related to anyone in the Herbology field?" he asked curiously. The surname sounded awfully familiar. Haha...he laughed softly. "No snargaluffs as of right now...but maybe I can work on getting some, m'boy."
Snargaluffs. Such fascinating little things. He should have gotten James THAT---HA JK. He would NEVER gift someone who didn't have an inclination for plantlike a snargaluff.
He turned to the girl...and softened his gaze and smiled at them both. "I...will take you both inside if you wish, all right? You can help me water everything in there if you want..." He thought he would offer, since they seemed quite eager. "It is nice to meet you both, Jaemin and..." he smiled at the girl. "What is your name, m'dear?"

" I am Jeslyn, sir. Jeslyn Kallisti Chambel. You could call me Jessie. I am a first year from Gryffindor. " Jessie introduce herself.
"And I`ll be glad to help you watering those awesome plants or anything. And.... would you teach me more about them, please? "
Jessie wants to know about the magical plants more. She hopes that she will find some kind of herbal leaf or something like that. Magical plants which is can help her to cure her dad.
And from those days, she decided that she will adding Herbology as her favourite lesson.
At the question about family members in the Herbology field, Jaemin went absolutely, completely still. The little boy almost seemed as if he'd been turned to stone for a moment, his eyes wide; the reaction only lasted for that long, for a single moment, before he started bouncing on the balls of his feet with an almost alarming level of excitement bursting across his little face.
"My dad! He's a Herbologist!" Did the professor know his dad?! He would likely expire right there if he did. Like right on the ground. Rest in Peace, Song Jaemin. "He does experiments and stuff, he lets me watch and I help take notes!"
Now he wanted to go into the greenhouse eeeeeeven more. It was fine if it was just to water plants! He'd still get to look at them all. Snargaluffs or no Snargaluffs.
So he had two first years. A Jessie and a Jaemin. Paul led them both into the Greenhouse. The big bad GREENHOUSE FOUR.
He grinned at Jessie, who seemed quite eager. "Yes, yes, I will teach you all about plants in due time." He handed nodded at a watering can. "You can either use magic...with aguamenti, to water them, OR you can use one of my watering cans...I don't have a preference." He turned to Jaemin. "And that goes for you, too, m'boy." He smiled and grabbed his own watering can. "Don't go near the Venomous Tentacula, though.." he pointed at a plant near the back of the Greenhouse. "And don't fuss with the Flytrap--" a few large ones were nearby. He trusted them to use their common SENSE though.
"Ahhh..." he replied to Jaemin. "I do know your father...or at least I would know him if I saw him. I know many people from the Herbology community.." he smiled and began to water some of the more..modest plants.

Jessie almost jumping in joy when professor Myers said that he'll teach them. The little girl adore the professor so much. He's really kind.
" Thank you again, sir." Jessie took the watering can happily " Uum...I was read somewhere. It said that we must taking care of the plants as same as we did to human. I prefer using the watering can, sir. It feels like a mother taking care of her babies using her own hands!"
Jessie didn't care if her sentence sounded so silly. She was too much excited with her activity.
She begin with the nearest plant when Professor Myers turned and talked about the boys family.
When the girl start to stepped closer to the plants with long and huge tendrils.
Jessie getting closer to the plant but the tendril suddenly make a move. Almost caught her tiny ankle.
" Whooopss! "

Reason: change the color
Jaemin didn't know very many spells so far, and Aguamenti was one he hadn't yet learned. He considered giving it a try out, but... he didn't want to point his wand at a plant and try a spell he'd never tried before. If he hurt the plant, it would be sad. So a watering can was the way to go!
The small boy scooped one up and made sure it was nice and full of water before trailing after the professor, doing a great deal more looking around at the plants in the greenhouse than actual watering. He did remember to sprinkle the water a little... It was so hard to focus his attention because THE PROFESSOR KNEW HIS DAD OH MERLIN-
His little body was almost seemed to vibrate with excitement. "Do you do experiments too? Do you do them here?!" Could he do them here?! He wanted to do cool plant experiments toooooo. He bounced. Bounce bounce bounce. Managing to water a few plants as he did so.
Paul smiled kindly at the first year girl. Jessie, right. "Well..I don't know if that's exactly right, Jessie, since plants require quite different things than humans. But if you mean that...we should care about them...as if we WOULD humans...then by all means, yes. Plants are just as important, you know. We wouldn't be able to BREATHE without them." He continued the watering process.
It was relaxing.
"Actually, I quite agree! It's why I prefer watering the muggle way as well--AHH--" he pulled Jessie out of the way of the tendril. "Merlin. Be careful." He flicked his wand at the plant and it hissed before backing off. "HMPH."
He glanced over at Jaemin and smirked slightly. Had any water actually made it out of his can yet? "I do...not here. Mostly at my private greenhouse back home. My partner and I live on a vineyard...there's enough space for my greenhouse...and he gets to grow his grapes so..." he shrugged. Life was good at the Paul/Milton residence.

He had a private greenhouse at his house, that was so cooooool. Jaemin sprinkled some water on what appeared to be a little itty bitty flitterbloom, but it could have been a tiny Devil's Snare too! He hadn't seen either up close and personal before, just in books when he was questioning his father about stuff, so it was hard for him to tell the difference.
"Dad doesn't have a greenhouse at our house..." he pouted for about half a second. "But his experiment things are like their own little greenhouses, so I guess he sorta has one..."
Well. A lot. But they weren't all at the house, so Jaemin hadn't seen everything. His dad wouldn't bring home the dangerous ones because he knew how terribly curious Jay was. The small boy watered a few of the less wiggly plants, leaning closer to examine them carefully.
"Are they magic grapes?" Were there magic grapes? What did you do with them? He had so many questions.
Paul smiled kindly at the first year girl. Jessie, right. "Well..I don't know if that's exactly right, Jessie, since plants require quite different things than humans. But if you mean that...we should care about them...as if we WOULD humans...then by all means, yes. Plants are just as important, you know. We wouldn't be able to BREATHE without them." Jessie sighed in relief "Thank you, sir"
Jessie staring at the man with gratitude "Um,sir. Can I ask you something? Why you choose this job? You risking your life by taking care many plants and they cam eat you alive anytime?"
Little girl keep watering the plant. " Can I become like you, sir? You're an awesome professor I've ever seen. Maybe if I'm not accepting as an Auror I'll follow your path."
Jessie smiled shyly. She's a little girl with huge curiousity. A first year. Still can't decide what will she do in the future.
Paul was keeping a close eye on BOTh of the first years as he also watered his plants. "Well, every Herbologist needs their own space, really. So I'm glad to hear your father has somewhere to experiment at." Paul didn't ONLY do experiments. He did loads of OTHER cool things, too.
He had to laugh at that. "Well..no. Just normal grapes...do you know what a vineyard does, m'boy?" He chuckled. "I've actually thought about taking my students on field trip there to see how to mass care for an ENORMOUS amount of trees and vines...using magic and muggle ways to do agriculture. But we'll see if it ever happens." It would be really fun for him to show it all off, though.
Jessie spoke, and Paul gently turned to her. "Well...not all plants are dangerous...it's not a real life threatening job most days." He chuckled. "Not nearly as much so as an Auror, I assure you!" Paul could never do that sort of stuff! Just the thought of THAT kind of danger made him shiver. "Ahh...well you have to really love Herbology...if you want to be a full blooded Herbologist one day. You have pleeeeenty of time to decide those things, m'dear."

While he was watering plants, Jaemin squatted down near one to get a closer look at it. It was so wiggly... he so wished their backyard could have more active plants in it. They lived in a mixed neighbourhood though, and his mum kept lots of her regular flowers in the yard, so they had to be careful about what was planted. Even a high fence couldn't keep all the Muggles out, and his mother had insisted that they keep the yard mostly clear for Jaemin. Safety and all that.
He resented the idea that he couldn't handle himself around plants, mum!
"Dad's studying the effects of miniaturization on plants harvested for potions ingredients or food," the boy murmured absently, sprinkling water on a tendril that snaked closer to him before standing up again and moving away from it. Not today, plant. "He wants to see if they can be grown normally in miniature sizes and then restored to their normal sizes for use without side effects..."
Which meant there were a whole bunch of large, glass, 'this should probably be holding an inappropriate pet' sort of tanks on their back porch and in their house. Jaemin absolutely adored it.
A vineyard? The small boy scrunched his nose and looked up at the professor as he did his best to water a small, sort of tufty looking plant without getting too close. He didn't know what it was... so he couldn't know how dangerous it might be.
"That's a place where all they grow is grapes all over the place, right? All different kinds?" The green ones were the best tasting, but they came from the grocery store... he was dwelling on that a bit, wondering if they came to the grocery store from a vineyard or some other place, when the professor mentioned a field trip. The small boy started bouncing excitedly again. "You mean take care of plants like they do at plant nurseries? That's what my mum does!"
He helped her pull weeds sometimes! It was far less exciting than studying the tiny plant life his father brought home, but still a bit fun.
Jessie nodded in understand "But still some of them could eat you alive."
She blinking for a while before spill out her mind again "Actually my reason to study about plants is because I want to find some plant to cure my dad. Something like Mandrake or another."
Jessie grab in the handle of watering ban tightening. Gloomy expression appeared in her face.
" I will be oke to cancel my plan to become an Auror. I'll study herbology seriously. And once I success with curing my dad, I can be a herbologist.I'm sure he'll be proud of me! "
Her cheeks turn into red color. Maybe she talked too much. She always speaks a lot whenever she feels exited. And then Jessie stole a glance to the professor.
"When your lesson will begin, sir?" Jessie smirk to professor Myers "And what you usually teach to the beginner like me? Maybe I'll prepare it.But I'm can't promise you to not make a problem." Jessie chuckled after hearing her jokes to the herbologist.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
The Greenhouses were one of her absolute favourite places to visit especially when she was missing her parents. Today happened to be one of those days when Rachel was missing them so she made her way to Greenhouse one. Being surrounded by plants always made her feel close to Mae and Phillip Watson.
Since she was very fond of flowers, the Eagle stopped by some mundane ones. Smiling, she reached out a hand to delicately caress the petals of a rose. She was very careful to avoid the thorns of the plant. Her thoughts wandered to Hady as she remembered their conversation of weaving flowers to form a wreath to wear in their hair. Someday, she would do this for her older friend but for now, she would just admire the beauty of the flowers and try not to feel homesick. Possibly she could even stop the stinging in her eyes that were tears threatening to overflow from her eyes.

He found Jay's explanation of his father's work...fascinating. "Oooh." Like truly, it was. He actually wanted to owl the boy's father now, too. 'CAN I COME VISIT YOUR WORK PLEASE?' But he tried to look calm for now. But if the man could..figure that stuff out...it could be a BIG game changer for the Herbology community!
"Yes...our vineyard has grapes, and we make wine." He nodded. "It's a pretty good living...and Milton enjoys it so..." he shrugged. "Sort of..but also...our irrigation system...and how it works, taking care of a HUGE amount of land that produces grapes. It's actually pretty interesting." He said with a nod.
And yes, Jessie was right. Many plants were dangerous like that...but Paul still wasn't all that worried in general. He wasn't sure whether he wanted to ask about her dad...what if it made her sad? Paul never wanted to make people sad. Sooooo he settled for, "Well, you can do anything you put your mind into, m'dear. I do hope your father is all right, right now." Talking about his dad's research made Jaemin miss the house with all the tiny plants in it. He missed his mom and dad too, of course, but... he missed being able to look through the terrariums full of plant life, some laid down like miniature farmland while others were just growing straight on top of one another. He wanted one of his oooooown... maybe the professor would let him make one, so he could experiment too!
Oh oh oh oh this all sounded very interesting to Jaemin, yes. Normal 11 year olds probably had no interest in irrigation systems... but the small Slytherin was quite unaware of this, because he was interested, and that was all that mattered. He wanted to gooooo. Could they go? He wanted to explore the vineyard place and look at the not-magic grapes and learn how they were grown!
"Is it really really big? Bigger than the greenhouse?" It probably was. You probably needed a lot of grapes to make wine. Especially if all moms drank it, because Jaemin knew his sure did. "My mom likes wine a lot. She says it's 'grown-up grape juice' so I'm not allowed to have it until I'm a grown-up too."
Compost! Gloves were a good idea for that, and Jaemin put down the watering can to feel at his pockets. He had brought his own gloves with him! Herbologists should never be without gloves, right? He pulled them on, wiggling his fingers in them to make sure they were fitted on right, and looked up at the professor. The normal plants?
"Normal like the ones Muggles know about, or..." was there a different 'normal'? "The ones that don't get grabby?"
He found Jay's explanation of his father's work...fascinating. "Oooh." Like truly, it was. He actually wanted to owl the boy's father now, too. 'CAN I COME VISIT YOUR WORK PLEASE?' "Thank you again, sir.I hope he will."
Jessie look at the watering can in her hand after heard his command and put it down. Time to next step! Her face light up again "But ,sir I have no gloves. Could I borrow it from you, please?"
She almost bouncing in excitement. Then she started to guessing which plants are not dangerous.
Paul nodded at Jay. "Much bigger....we own lots and lots of land." They were lucky to be able to afford to. Juice! Juice, HAHA. Paul laaaaaaughed. "She's quite right, m'boy. You would do well to follow her rule." He winked...and pulled on some of his own gloves.
"Yes, Jessie, you can borrow some of mine--" he summoned a pair with his wand and hand them over to Jessie. "They might be a bit big for your hands, but they'll do fine. They won't fall off or anything."
HA! Normal. Boy had a point. "I suppose the ones that won't grab you, yes. Yes, m'boy, very good question." He grinned and grabbed a cupful in his hands and sprinkled the ....rather odorous compost atop the soil of a shrub nearby. "You two are helping me out so much...I really appreciate it!" he smiled.
