| | |  Gobstones Preliminary Match: Hufflepuff vs. Ravenclaw
 The building used for the Gobstones matches had had its doors closed against the early fall morning chill. Its surfaces magically dusted by Mr McLeod and Mr. Kitridge, the school's Gobstones sponsors and made ready for the term's first preliminary match.
The yellow and blue marbles were set out and the playing 'field' had been marked. Chairs were set out on each side of the arena creating a Viewing Area for those not playing to watch.
OOC: Remember only members sorted into Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw Houses can post in this thread, it is not a chat thread and there is no rping.
Read the Gobstones Rule book before playing and if you did last term, please check again for potential updates and changes.

Rachel tagged in Jace that head out for a new try with the eagle shooter while the badgers sent out another newcomer Katerina Delgado. The two first years swung their shooters and watched their marbles take off. The yellow marble got past 4 obstacles before it abrutly stopped and shot up a gush of smelly gob into the air and towards the team benches. The blue marble surpassed its opponent and 3 more obstacles for the points.
"2 points to Ravenclaw!" Leo declared.

The badger switched in Carl for the next roll instead of Katerina while Jace remained on the court for the eagles. Standing there Jace seemed to have picked up some sort of luck with his next try with the shooter. He was getting his house's stone closer and closer to the Hufflepuff's stone, and the goal in extension. "3 points to Ravenclaw at the end of the third round. Ravenclaw leads 16-2 as we head into the fourth round! Come on badgers!" Leo cheered on.

After a short break, stretch of the legs and airing out of gob smell Jace and Henric headed out to open the fourth round. The boys swung the shooters and relased their marbles simulatenously. The marbles rolled side by side around the first five obstacles but the yellow marble swerved heavily to the right and knocked head first into an obstactle and stopped. The heavy impact caused the smell of gob to refill the air but no splash. The blue marble surpassed its opponent and one more obstacle for the point.
"Ravenclaw claims the first point of the fourth round! Come on badgers!" Leo cheered from the sideline.

The yellow mrble had poor speed and didn't even round one obstacle before it stopped and ooozed out a cloud of gob. The blue marble surpassed its opponent and made it around 6 obstacles before it stopped.

The last encounter between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw was concluded by the facing off between Leonard and Watson. Both players did their best in this last turn with their shooting. The yellow marble raced towards the goal and was the first to touch the Jack Stone, causing Mr Kitridge to start applauding a little too enthusiastically-- not because Ravenclaw had gotten the last point of the match, but because it was finally over and they would all go back to their headquarters to eat some well deserved food.
"Ravenclaw wins the first preliminary match of this years Gobstones chamionship!" He announced, clapping lightly, "Great game Hufflepuff, you were fantastic as well. Thank you everyone for watching and taking time out of your leisure time to enjoy this championship match today. Today's player of the match is Rachel Watson, thank you for your dedication to the game." He flashed Rachel and big smile. "Off you go to your common rooms for celebrating with your housemates or even studying for your impending exams." Leo ushered everyone out, out, out.
