"'ere ya go Ollie," Sam said to her rat as she deposited him from her robes pocket onto her bed, and pulled some food for him out of her bedside table drawer. Oliver wrinkled his nose at it, and turned away as she sat down on the bed beside him and pulled her legs underneath her.

"Wut's wrong? Yeh not scared of the cats?" She rubbed her familiar behind the ears, before lifting him up into her lap. "Ya bein' silleh. Dis our new 'ome, innit? Dey wouldn't dare 'urt ya." She wouldn't let them; just like she'd always looked after him since she'd found him. She picked the food up from the covers and held it close to Oliver's nose. He sniffed around her fingers a bit before finally taking a nibble. With a smile, she let him take the rest, and surveyed her new home. She'd never stayed somewhere this pleasant, warm or spider-less.

"I ravver like it, meself."

Rachel came through the door to the first year girls' dorm, stopping short at the scene before her. "Have you tried feeding him something else, Sam?'' she asked after the cat had taken a tiny bite out of what was being fed to him. "He possibly doesn't like that.'' She inclined her dark head of hair towards Sam's hand that held the food before moving closer to her own bed to sit on it.

The girl reached for the porcelain doll she had found on the train to hug it to her chest. "He's a little cutie.'' She smiled over at the rat. "I reason that you have to keep him close at all times given the cats around.'' Olivia had one, Garreth had one as well and goodness knows how many others.

Ollie had turned his nose up at the food again, and Sam sighed as one of her dormmates came in. "'e usually jus' shares whate'er I'm 'aving," she replied. And that, before she came to Hogwarts, hadn't really been much at all depending on what her Pa sold on any given day. "Fink 'e jus' needs to get used tah it 'ere. 's a big change." For them both.

A cutie he defintely was though. They'd been together since they were both little, Sam having rescued him from a drain. "Yeh, in me pocket or on mah bed," she nodded at the cats comment. There seemed to be an over-abundance of them in the Ravenclaw tower; she thought that owls were meant to be the most popular choice. Ollie was still ridiculous for being nervous of the cats though. He'd played with some of the strays around home.

"Do yeh 'av a pet wiff ya?" She raised her gaze up from Ollie, to look at the girl who'd joined her properly. Rachel, wasn't it?

Olivia decided to head up to her dorm room for lack of anything better to do at the current moment. Climbing up the stairs and getting off at the first landing, she heard voices coming from within, finding two dorm mates, including Rachel as she stepped inside. “Hey guys,” she greeted as she moved towards her own bed, her book bag absently dropped onto her trunk at the end of bed as she passed.

She noticed the pet rat of the other girl and glanced at the furry form on her bed to make sure her cat wasn’t going to do any bad things. Thankfully the feline seemed content to just be curled up and relaxed. Well mostly relaxed…the tip of the tail flicking every once and awhile.

A shoe struck the wall between the girls, hard. BAM!

Haddie's bed groaned a little, and the big pile of blankets on top of it shifted. "Shuddup! Some of us are tryin..." She was asleep again before she finished her chiding.

Ailsa picked up Haddie's shoe that went whizzing past her head and into the wall as she walked into the dorm room and stared at it for a moment. She wondered...

She tied the laces in a bow and looked over to Rachel and the other girls with a 'shhh' gesture. Then she pulled out her wand. A swish and a flick and a "colloPORtus!" later she reexamined the shoe. It looked the same. She didn't expect it to look any different. She wasn't even really sure if a shoe could be locked. But she wanted to find out. And giving a little bit back to Haddie, if it worked, could be amusing. If it didn't, well, Haddie would never know.

She left the still-tied shoe by the side of Haddie's bed next to its counterpart and turned back to the other girls.

"I have no what will happen, but it'll be fun to find out." Still whispering so as not to wake up Haddie she smiled at Rachel and the other two girls, "I don't think I've met you two properly. I'm Ailsa, Haddie's cousin."

Rachel reached over to pet the rat. "I understand that, Sam. You both are going to get used to it.'' It was a big change for all the girls in the dorm. She herself missed her parents terribly and had cried two or three days in a row after arriving at Hogwarts. "Can I keep him sometime? I'm not afraid of rats.'' They were no spiders, after all. "I do. I have a puppy named Barkley but unfortunately, I could not bring him to Hogwarts.'' But there was a possibility she would be able to next year.

"Hello, Olivia.'' Rachel ran her fingers through the dolls curls as she watched her fellow Ravenclaw look towards her bed. She hadn't noticed Olivia's kitty curled up there but thought the cat was well behaved as it did not go for Sam's rat. "What's his or her name?'' She inclined her head towards the form on the bed.

Rachel jumped slightly at the sound of something hitting the wall. She turned her head in time to see Ailsa come in and pick the shoe up and at the moment hear Haddie's sleepy voice. She giggled. Really, why was her best friend sleeping so early in the evening? She winked at Ailsa as the girl did some magic with the shoe. Propping the doll against her pillows, the princess slid off her bed and went over to the pile of sheets on the bed next to hers.

"She's gone right back to sleep,'' she informed the other girls. Rachel adjusted the sheets over Haddie. "I think we should talk quietly unless we want it raining shoes in here.'' She eased her way back onto her bed as Ailsa introduced herself. She knew her, of course. It was difficult to believe she and Haddie came from the same family; they were so different.

Food forgotten, Ollie sniffed at Rachel's outstretched fingers before rubbing against them. Sam tutted at him with a shake of her head. "Snot all bad changes, jus' different, innit?" she replied to Rachel's words. It wasn't home, but she couldn't ignore that aside from missing her Pa, there were a LOT of perks to being at Hogwarts. Of course, she knew other girls hadn't found it easy to adapt either - she'd heard at least one lot of muffled sniffles over the last couple of evenings. "Course yeh can. Ollie loves 'ttention." As clearly evidenced by the fact he'd made a beeline for Rachel's hand. "Yeh welcome teh play wiff 'im if e's on me bed an' I'm elsewhere." Especially as her fellow firstie had had to leave her puppy behind. That was sad indeed. "What colour is 'e?"

"Hey Olivia," Sam greeted with a smile, before following her gaze to the girl's bed. Ah, there was a cat there she hadn't noticed before. No wonder Ollie had been unamused, although it was clearly well-trained if them being there hadn't been an issue. "Will dey get alon' bett-ah if we introduce 'em?" Ollie was usually fine among cats if he knew he was safe, though of course that depended as much on the demeanour of Olivia's cat as her rat.

And then there was a crash, and Sam turned to see what had made the noise. Seemed the dorm hadn't been as empty as she thought it was, though how she was meant to tell there was a person between all those blankets she wasn't entirely sure. She watched Ailsa curiously she tried unlocking the shoe, before shifting her attention Rachel as she checked whether Haddie had fallen back asleep.

Apparently, she had. But in the meantime, Sam spotted something else. The thing on Rachel's bed. "'m Sam, nice teh...meet yeh..." she introduced slowly. She really shouldn't stare at Rachel's choice of doll, but she couldn't help thinking those eyes were unnerving.

When none of the girls were looking, the doll turned her head slightly. When one of them would look back at the bed, she would be gone.

What was that?

Was it the sound of the door shutting on its own?

The doll was gone.

Azura sat up in her bed as she heard a loud thump and she rubbed her eyes a bit as she looked over to see Rachel and a few other of her dormmates!

"Was that.. a shoe?" She asked softly as she blinked a little. "Hi, I'm Azura," She said with a wave as she moved to get out of her bed, caught her foot on her blanket and tripped and fell onto the floor!!

Merlin! That wasn't quiet!

Kitty had been having a rather strange and unusual dream about a giant clock. She was drifting peacefully through the clouds inside a birdcage, and the birdcage was floating towards the ground. Blocking the sun was a giant Clock.

Whatever came next in the dream Kitty did not find out, because just then she was awoken by the sound of a door closing shut. "Who's there?" Kitty sat up groggily. She didn't see anyone in the dark. Oh well. Kitty yawned and very quickly went back to sleep.

“Her name’s Josclina(because I can’t remember name)…” Olivia supplied, answering the question her friend placed before her, the focus momentarily on the relaxed cat. She absently leaned down to stroke her familiar in silent praise for her behavior. A soft purr and a slowed movement of her tail was the only answer. “Mayb---“ she started to answer Sam before she was interrupted and both girl and cat started.

WHAT!?

Olivia’s head turned quickly when something hit the wall with a large slam. What in Merlin’s beard was that? A shoe? That was what one of her dorm mates picked up and brought back to the direction it had seemingly come from. It was followed up by groaning and movement from the bed she had to admit she wasn’t aware of being occupied revealing part of the mystery. Haddie had apparently been sleeping and woken up to their presence. And they hadn’t even really been loud.

“Okay, that was weird.”

She was about to apologize but the trailing off stopped her, Rachel confirming she was back to sleep already so it would have fallen on deaf ears. “Don’t want that,” Olivia mused, turning back to Ailsa….the sleeping girl’s cousin. “Nice to meet you, I’m Olivia,” she said, returning the introduction.

"I like your cat, she seems nice. If a bit skittish of Haddie." The last bit added with a giggle.

Haddie bolted upright in bed with a "Immawake!" at the sound of Azura crashing to floor. She had a wild mess of bedhead and blinked, blankly, a few times before scratching her head.

It was only then that she was awake and aware enough to understand there were things happening and people. "What's going on?" She asked mid-yawn. "What was that noise?"

Rachel giggled as the rat rubbed against her fingers. "Aren't you just one of the cutest rats around?'' she cooed. Besides dogs, she had a soft spot for cats, especially the one Garreth owned, but never rats; not before now. "No, it's not. You girls make it fun. It's as though we have one big sleep over every night.'' This was certainly something that she had not experienced other than staying over at Haddie's. "Oh, thank you, Sam! I assure you I'll take very good care of him.'' Yes, she would. "He's brown and white and the most adorable puppy you'll ever see.'' She loved her Barkley very much.

"That's a pretty name,'' Rachel told Olivia. It seemed like everyone had chosen a perfect name for their animal companion. Everyone except her and that was only because Garreth had been the one to name Barkley not because her puppy had a bad name or anything; just no choosing on her part. "Do you realise we look alike?'' she asked mildly to Olivia. The same brown hair, freckles, complexion and perhaps even in height and weight. Then she was giggling at Ailsa's comment about Olivia's cat and Haddie. "That's very funny, Ailsa.''

Oh dear. Had they woken Azura too? No, she was asking about the shoe so it was possible that the object hitting the wall had awoken her. Rachel smiled apologetically at her friend. "I'm sorry about that but that was Haddie's way of letting us know that we were being too loud.'' She watch Azura climb out of the bed only to trip on the sheet. "Azura! Are you alright?'' She hurried over to the girl.

Azura's fall had woken Haddie. Rachel giggled over at her best friend. "Now you are.'' Her expression returned to one of concern for their fallen friend. "Azura fell.'' She suddenly looked around at the sound of their dorm door opening or closing. She counted the girls and saw they were all there. There was no more nor any less of them. "Did any of you girls hear the door either open or close a minute ago?'' She was bewildered. Surely she had just not imagined that.

She had not noticed the doll missing as yet.

Rats!!

Her loud fall had woken Haddie! "I'm so sorry Haddie! I didn't mean to wake you up!! She said with an apologetic look in her purple eyes, before she looked up at Rachel who was hurrying over to help her!

"Yes I'm all right I think.." She said as she took Rachel's hand to get up and she looked over at the other two girls.. Alisa and Olivia "Hi, I'm Azura.." She said with a warm smile and a wave before looking back at Rachel "I heard that too, did someone leave?" She asked her curiously as she looked around as well..

Kitty flew through the air inside a canary cage - in her dream of course. Diamonds, rubies, and rings flew past her. She sometimes reached out to grab one, but the cage was going too quickly for her to succeed. Oh well!

Then the dream changed and Kitty was tumbling down a garbage chute - going down, down, down to a dump full of empty banana peelings and mud. SPLAT! She landed right in the middle of it, sinking down to her waist in filthy bananas and mud.

Just then Professor Kitridge appeared suspended in mid air above the garbage. He had a very knowing look on his face and he spoke a bit sternly. "Now Kitty, here is the perfect opportunity to do that cleaning spell you didn't do in the library." Kitty pulled out her wand and pointed it at the garbage. "Scourgify!" Professor Kitridge shook his head. "Not Scourgify. The other one." Kitty's mind froze in panic. "But I don't know how!" Kitridge looked shocked. "YOU DON'T KNOW HOW?! A RAVENCLAW NOT KNOWING HOW?!"

Just then her mother Lois Valentine appeared standing next to Professor Kitridge. She had her black hair tied in a very strict bun and was wearing her standard blue dress and suit. Kitty groaned, her embarrassment worse than ever before. She spoke in a very brusque voice to Kitty, her eyes narrowed. "Darling, if you can't master a simple cleaning spell then I see I've failed you. So I've arranged for you to be raised by Professor Ursula Black, her home will be your home and you will do everything she tells you."

Professor Kitridge transformed into the Hag. "Come here dearie" she hissed. And she reached her twisted hand towards Kitty.

"GET AWAY FROM ME!" Kitty screamed, jolting awake at once.

The Californian girl with a severe case of bedhead yawned again, and stretched. "Don't worry about it," she said. It wasn't a big deal. But something in everyone's expressions caught her attention... Did she...?

"I threw my shoe at you in my sleep, didn't I?"

Tia had been lying in her bed, reading the next chapter of her Herbology textbook, when she head commotion from the room next door. The room she knew to hold the first years. It was actually semi-decent planning to have the first years room next to the seventh years, so the young ones could be watched over to make sure they didn't sneak out of bed.

Usually most of the commotion she head from the younger student's room was meaningless chatter, as she often had with Hayley and Brynn though it wasn't meaningless in their case. But this time, the Head Girl had sat upright, alarmed and swung her legs over the side of her bed to investigate.

Walking the few paces to the room, she knocked once before entering. "Please tell me what all the commotion is about? I heard a door slam." Her eyes scanned the room to check to see that all first years were accounted for or if there was one out of bed.

Haddie raised her hands in defense. "Don't look at me," she said. "I just now woke up." She reached up to scratched her head again, and seemed to notice for the first time the bad case of bed hair she was sporting, and reached for her brush. "I might have thrown a shoe when I was sleeping, but you totally can't fault me for something I did while unconscious..." Though she didn't sound too sure about that. "Can you?"

Little Rachel heaved Azura as best as she could to her feet. She was relieved the other girl was okay. "Haddie, honestly, you could have hurt someone,'' she chided her best friend now. "You really out to try to develop some self control.'' She was speaking gently and seriously hoped this didn't escalate to an argument. She hated those.

Oh? Azura heard the door too? So Rachel hadn't been imagining it. Before she could offer a reply, the door opened again after a knock. She smiled instantly again for it was Tia. "Tia.'' She excitedly skipped over to the girl she admired so much. "Azura and I heard it too but every one's accounted for in here. Did you see anyone on your way in?''

She grasped Tia's hand. "I want to show you a doll I found. Perhaps you can help me find the owner.'' Rachel moved to lead Tia to her bed only to find the doll gone. "Where is it?'' she asked in bewilderment. She frantically shifted her pillows and sheets looking for it.

"I don't think you can," Ailsa started in, feeling a bit strange about the agreement with her cousin on this. "After all, if she's asleep it's not like she really meant to do it, right? So getting in trouble for something done while sleeping is a bit like getting in trouble for breathing..." Oh dear, this was a lot of agreeing with Haddie, something had to be done and quickly. "Though if this is a regular occurrence we might have to make you keep throwable things out of your reach when you're in bed."

Whew. That felt better. For a moment she'd been worried.

Azura smiled in relief as Haddie said to not worry about waking her! Whew! Next time she would be more careful when she got out of bed. She smiled shyly over at her fellow first year. "Thank you.. She said with a smile before she nodded. "Yeah, you did sort of throw your shoe at the wall."

That had been what had woken her up! But she wasn't going to say that!

She turned with Rachel As the head girl Tia came in, she nodded along with Rachel as she spoke. "I heard the door slam too, I had fallen over though, so I didn't see who it was." She said apologetically. The head girl! Wow!

Azura felt a slight awe in her presence and she regretted that she didn't have more to tell her! She smiled warmly at her though, "I'm Azura." She offered, she wasn't sure if right now was the proper time for introductions, but she made them just in case.

She looked over at Rachel and one of her eyebrows rose.. "Your doll is missing?"

Katherine had naturally spent the whole night studying. Unlike some of her colleagues, she studied well. But when she started dozing off, it was her cue to go sleep. She collected all her books into her bag and entered the dormitory... to find everyone wide awake.

HOLD ON. THE HEAD GIRL WAS HERE. I REPEAT: HEAD GIRL WAS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!

Katherine had to impress her. This was her moment. Her probably only chance. So - she casually greeted them all: "Hello." Did that sound clever enough? Cool? Enough to get her to talk about how to become a Head Girl?

And of course, she missed the whoooooooole doll talk, because she had been PRODUCTIVE.
