A polished oak desk contraption sits in the centre of the library. A few low shelves contain books that have been returned or books that are on hold. You can also loan books from the library’s vast collection of books here or objects like crystal balls, telescopes, and a few odd items. Behind the desk, sitting upon a dark cushioned stool, is the librarian, his head bent over some old rolls of parchment or a book.
As you approach, Mister Kitridge looks up and greets you with a friendly and warm smile. "Good day. How may I help you?" He is eager to assistant anyone who visit the library; whether it would be in retrieving a particular book, giving recommendations, sharing a story or two with a student or colleague or in some other way.
The Hogwarts Library was both like every other library Haddie had seen and completely unlike every other library Haddie had seen.
Maybe it was the excitement of being in Hogwarts, of having the time of her life in a food fight the night before and being so close to learning her first bit magic... Or maybe there was something in the Ravenclaw drinks that brainwashed the members that didn't quite fit the mold, but holy carp, wow...
She actually wanted to take a look around this place, and check out the books and see what hidden gems of spells they contained. She shook her head to clear her thoughts. Maybe she'd be able to sneak some peaks while on cleaning duty. But first things first.
Haddie stepped up to desk, and grinned warmly at Mr. Kitridge. Probably not the best way to look when coming in for punishment, but she couldn't help it. She was going to learn magic today! "Hi Mr. Kitridge, I'm..." She scanned the desk, hoping to see a little bell that she could hit, but if there was one she didn't see it. "I'm here for cleaning duty."
For a moment when Kitty woke up she forgot that she was supposed to be somewhere. Then the events of last night came flashing back to her and she remembered the detention. She quickly changed out of her pajamas and combed her hair, then left the dormitory and made her way to the library - wondering what kind of thing they would be cleaning. Maybe Kitridge would have them dust the books off. That seemed easy enough.
"Good morning Mr. Kitridge" she said pleasantly, as she stepped in towards the front desk. "Hi Haddie!" she smiled at Haddie.
"What are we going to be cleaning?" Everything that she could see already looked clean, but maybe they weren't cleaning something here.

Every new year start in the library meant lots of cleaning, book care and what Leo enjoyed most of filling up the shelves with books. After an early breakfast the librarian had gone to the library to prepare for the arrival of his cleaning help. Carrying two buckets of hot soap water and rags and with a long trail of book trolleys rolling in his wake in a neat line behind him he left the back room to head for the Front Desk area.
He noted with satisfaction that both Haddie and Kitty had arrived promptly to fulfil the duty he had set them as a way to make up for their part in the food fight the previous night. When he reached them Leo said a small smile pursing his lips. "Good morning Hadley and Kitty, follow me, we are going to go to the grand bookshelves area to clean and set up books! Mind the book trolleys so they don't make you trip on your feet!"
And with that Leo lead the way from the front desk with the buckets and trolleys toward the bookshelves.
