| | Fourth Floor Balcony On the fourth floor corridor is one of the few balconies in the castle. With a view of Hogwarts grounds, this balcony is a great place to take a break from doing that lengthy Arithmancy homework, or to generally relax with your friend.

| ¼ of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pls ...Mice? Real mice? Katherine looked around in disgust to spot the said mice. She knew there were mice, but she'd never seen one in plain sight and she didn't want to. Anyway, Blaise wanted her, so she smiled in the end and got comfortable on the ground - as comfortable as one could get while sitting on stone. If only she knew how to conjure cushions...
She couldn't read what was on the notepad, but she did look curiously when he tried to swat it away. What was written? But being a nosy girl was so annoying, so she politely looked outside. She didn't want to pry into his secrets, you know. She was a good friend.
Of course he returned the question. She sighed, and listened to his explanation first. "Do you hate it here that much?" she asked, "two years, and no light?" Maybe, if they talked about him, she wouldn't need to explain him anything. |

| Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite The little boy's brows furrowed at her question and the obvious surprise that came with it. Was it really that strange? Honestly? "I don't think I ever will like it here. Why should I? I like my friends and I like the food and I like going outside but that won't make me like Hogwarts and magic any better." It was like Charlotte helping him with magic. It was nice not failing but it didn't make him like casting any more. All it did was reduce his hesitancy when the time DID come for him to cast something.
Brown eyes fell on the grounds below them. Him and Phillip had gone adventuring out there not long ago. It'd been a good break from the concrete walls and oppressive air that he felt whenever he walked the castle. The place just unnerved him half the time. He knew the expectations once you got here and wasn't prepared to meet them.
A small silence fell between them then, the boy seemingly transfixed by something below until he finally broke that silence. "How come you won't answer any of my questions?" Then his gaze shifted back to her. "You can tell me if I'm being nosy, Bentley does it all the time." But usually he still answered the questions. Maybe he was bothering her and this was her polite way of telling him so. "You don't have to answer that." Blaise quickly added as an afterthought. Questions were his Achilles heel. He would need to reign them in.

| ¼ of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pls See, THIS was something Katherine would never ever understand. Magic was - magic! It made life so easier, but Blaise didn't even want to have any of it. This was so odd... maybe her mum was right. Maybe she really should stay away from Blaise... "I wish I could help you..." she said with resignation. She wasn't going to argue further, though, because they had already had this conversation and if his opinion hadn't changed since then, it wouldn't change now.
But if she stayed away from Blaise, who would she talk to? It wouldn't be the first time she would be alone, but... there was no escape from Hogwarts. In the muggle schools, she'd tell herself that it was temporary there, but Hogwarts wasn't temporary. If she lost him... "I..." she trailed off, avoiding his gaze, "you aren't nosy, no. I just..." she took a deep breath. "I've always been the best student, and now I'm not. I also don't think people like me that much. I don't have friends. I think the girls at the Ravenclaw don't even know me. So, Hogwarts hasn't met my expectations, is all." She laughed awkwardly as she looked back at him. She wouldn't go as far as saying she hated Hogwarts, it just... didn't turn out to be like how she'd imagined. |

| Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite "I get that a lot." Blaise replied offhandedly with a shrug. It used to bother him, everyone always 'wishing they could help', making him feel like he was a charity case or a lost cause but now he didn't care. It was all the same to him and he would rather not be helped if he could. "Don't worry about it, I don't. It's just what it is." Char was helping him with his casting a bit, he didn't need more help. That would only suck the fun out of everything--and as you can remember, there was no fun to begin with.
Blaise listened to her explanation, happy enough he wasn't being a nuisance. By the time she was done, he couldn't help the smile that spread across his face. It was one that promised understanding. "You sound a lot like me last year. I mean, I had friends--and you do too," Unless she didn't consider him a friend? "and I'd never been the best student to begin with but everything else seems spot on." Hogwarts had not met his expectations at all...not in terms of his magical awakening. Outside of that...he could admit it wasn't half bad. "I think you're overthinking it and expecting too much." He told her frankly, but not unkindly. More of a casual observation. "You have more friends than you think and if the Ravenclaw girls don't know you then maybe you can try knowing them. Sometimes taking the first step is more fun than waiting your turn." Gryffindor words of wisdom right there. "What's not to like about you?"

| ¼ of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pls No, but... Katherine had kind of failed at that too, hadn't she? She'd promised him that she'd help him, but... even though her mother had decided that he was a lost cause, and that she shouldn't talk to him ever again. Maybe she should listen to her mother...
Why was he grinning at her? And - yes, he was her friend now, but who else? David, maybe, but other than these two boys, she had no girl friends. Not that she needed any, she was Katherine Moss and she could do anything she wanted without any help, but...
She considered his words for a moment. "They are all that Haddie's friends," she said, "and Haddie's a troublemaker, so I should actually stay away from them." When she pronounced the other Ravenclaw's name, her face took an expression of hatred and disapproval (and jealousy for the veeeeeeeeeeery observant eye). "Besides, I know everything and people don't like to be corrected." So there was a lot not to - but, whatever. It didn't matter. She was better on her own, friends were only a distraction. This way, she didn't need to spend time at stupid pyjama parties or whatever; nor did she have to discuss stupid relationships or swoooooooon (ew) at boys. "Forget that I've said anything," she said abruptly, "I'm fine. I just need the summer vacation." Yeah, next term, she was going to follow her mother's orders to a T. Starting with futile friendships. |

| Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite Blaise was no longer paying attention to the quill that scribbled away furiously to the every word coming from Katherine's mouth. Now, now he was just as fixated on what she was saying as the writing implement because...well...it didn't make much sense for him he supposed. It just wasn't the way he looked at things. "But...I was a troublemaker at the feast." His brows furrowed some. "You still talk to me; we're still friends. Maybe, if you made up your mind to be, then you and her could be friends too?" Not that he was condoning it. Blaise didn't know the girl personally but Davie didn't like her and that was enough for him when you considered the bro code and all. He wouldn't be ignoring her but he wouldn't be going out of his way to be her friend either. "And no one knows absolutely everything." He tried, hoping she would see how......................................obnoxious her statement sounded. "People don't mind being corrected, it's how you correct that makes a difference." He would know. Many had come offering him advice, few in the right way.
Blaise's eyes widened a little at the sudden outburst. Fine? "You...don't sound fine..." But perhaps she already knew that and he was pointing out the obvious?

| ¼ of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pls Yes, he was a troublemaker, and yes, she stupidly still talked to him. This was going to change, though. She had made a HUGE mistake. Although a small voice at the back of her mind knew that he had absolutely nothing to do with her situation now (it wasn't like the boy stopped her from studying); she ignored that voice. She had APPARENTLY done something wrong here, even though she'd always been successful in the past. The most obvious difference between past and present was him - she should have ignored him from the beginning. What if successful potential friends thought she was a loser now too? Besides, she couldn't find any other difference, so it MUST be him. Of course, she might lose David too, but... if David wanted to spend time with a loser, it was his problem.
And as you can observe, folks, that fanatic and obsessive people might have the right data, but they interpret it in the wrongest way possible, and being clever does not save you from this huge mistake.
At his suggestion, she looked at him in utter disgust. "What does a girl like me have to do with a loser like her?!" she asked, completely missing his point. "She's disrespectful, lazy, a complete trouble and rude. I don't even know how she got into Ravenclaw." She should have been a - a Gryffindor, like him. This is wrong... "And I know everything a first year ought to!" she said hotly, "and most of the things a second year should, as well." In case he took her as a loser too, she was not. People were jealous of her, always had been, always would be. "And I'll keep correcting them, because it's only right." To correct people. But what did he know? "Like I said, forget it," she said in the end, obviously flustered, and got up. "I have to go. Goodbye." She didn't know if he'd understand that it was a goodbye, but she didn't really care either. Now, she had to go back to studying for exams and sort out her life. |

| ........*mellow*..... Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite Blaise was listening. That was about all he could do after Katherine made her first eruption and kept getting worse from that point on. Was she always like this? He couldn't remember her ever getting to THIS level of...well...he didn't know but he wasn't sure he liked it. The way it sounded was that she...she thought she was better than everyone else, but that couldn't have been it. That wasn't the Katherine he knew. She was nice and offered to help him like the castle more and hit it off with his little sister immediately when they'd been back at the train station.
Maybe she was just tired and stressed by the upcoming exams? Some people did worry about that sort of thing and he supposed being a Ravenclaw she was no exception.
The problem was, the more she spoke was the less convinced he became of his own excuses. It was good she knew everything a first year should--most First Years did...it didn't make her different. However she went and added the Second Year bit and the boy couldn't help but think it was a jab at him personally. His lips parted, ready to protest but she was moving far too quickly; already onto the fact she would keep being the sort of know-it-all no one ever wanted to be around. Didn't she see he was trying to help her with her problem like she'd been trying to help him with his?
Next thing he knew, she was on her feet saying she had to go and he STILL hadn't found the right words. What did one say in a situation like this? "O-Okay....I guess I'll see you later then..." He didn't even KNOW anymore. What just happened...? Looking to the notes his quill took would help only a little after it had gone and embellished it. The Gryffindor was truly lost and could only stare.
