| | Flying Basics A brisk wind would certainly not keep the young witches and wizards of Hogwarts away, Tiara mused on her way down to the pitch. Though many of them would never have done anything with a broom before besides sweep the floor, hopefully their eagerness to learn would trump the less-than-perfect conditions. Ideally this lesson would have been months ago. But with the uncertainty surrounding Abraham and then Meredith.. well, this had been pushed to the back burner on the list of priorities to sort out.
Such were the thoughts swirling through Tiara's head before she arrived at her old stomping grounds. She paused to reflect at how much had changed since her arrival at Hogwarts. First Quidditch and flying with her office right here in the stadium, then a sabbatical and marriage after being aged almost into extinction, coming back just to take up Arithmancy a few months into term, working closely with Leobald and Ravenclaw, having her role with Ravenclaw ended, and now almost full circle - back to first year flying lessons. But this wouldn't do: students would be arriving soon. Focus, Tyner.. Tanner! She grinned in spite of herself.
The referee/official-turned-professor whipped out her wand and performed a full array of cushioning charms on the ground of the stadium. Hard-packed ice had made it even more unforgiving to land on than normal. The next stop was to unlock the broomshed, also with the aid of her wand. Finally, she made a sign appear in front of the stadium: "First year flying lesson inside the stadium, personal brooms not allowed by school rules". After that there wasn't much left to do but wait in the cold wind. |

Eeek!! Only five minutes??
Azura wasn't nearly ready to come down yet!! She had been having way to much fun on the hard course! The poles that moved up and down were a bit challenging, but with a former professional chaser for a mother.. She handled them pretty well..
Clumsy on the ground, graceful in the air!
She grinned happily as she zoomed to the start of the hard obstacle course once more! She wanted one more try with it before leaving!!

Okay, well...there was only one set left to try, and that was the hardest one--the one Ariadne had saved for last. FOR A REASON, TOO. The poles were moving much faster, and the hoops were smaller. Could she do this? Was this even age appropriate or designed for WAY better flyers? It had to be for her age. This was a class for firsties only!
Also, she was a GREINGOTH. Greingoth were flyers and Quidditch players, and they didn't back down from a supposedly hard set of obstacle courses. Okay, that sealed the deal! She was going in!
Ariadne leaned down on her broom and soared toward the hard set. She was headed right toward the poles, which didn't look so bad from so far away. As she got closer, though, they almost looked MENACING. She could do this, though! She closed in on the closest pole, aiming to edge right past it. She thought everything was going good until she felt a smack against her broom handle, causing her to be knocked right off the course. Wide-eyed in slight fear, she gripped the handle of her broom to at least maintain her balance.
WHEW.
She steered off the course then flew to the side to come up with some better plan. Medium set again?

She didn't know anything about the sport, except that it was played on brooms and that was enough for her. She knew she would be getting Haddie's question from someone. " The practice pitch is always open for flying of course. And I could probably be persuaded to leave the courses up for a few days," she said, a slight twinkle in her eyes. Quote:

She and the broom were two peas in a pod. She felt partially like the broom was a friend that knew her all her life and partially like he was an extension of herself. She couldn't imagine finding a broom that fit her personality better than Charlie did. And thus if at all possible, Haddie would love Charlie to be her broom. Tiara chuckled at the eagle's next question. " I do not think I have the authority to speak for our brooms, Miss Denaker. But between you and I, I would pull for you." she finished with a wink. TWEEEEEEET!
She blew her whistle to get the flyer's attention. " Unfortunately our time has come to a close. You are always welcome to practice here on the practice pitch during the day, and the obstacle courses will be up for a few days. I saw good progress today from everyone, so you should be proud of yourselves. Have a wonderful rest of your day!"

Hogwarts RPG Name: Andromeda Renzler-Denaker Gryffindor First Year | Fluttery Pegasi Denaker's grin was perhaps the widest its ever been. She turned to her broom excitedly. "You hear that Charlie!? You can totally be my broom after you're done being Hogwarts' broom! And then we'll fly everyday, it'll be great!" She could feel the brooms own excitement radiating through her like little excited waves of heat. Reluctantly the young eagle headed back to the broom closet and gently placed Charlie inside. "I'll be back later," she promised. "And we'll spend the rest of the day practicing the courses. I promise."
With an excited little squeal, Haddie turned away and rushed out of the pitch. "Bye Professor! Thank you so much!" She waved to Tanner as she passed, and stopped just outside the pitch, waiting for Rachel, her slowpoke of a best friend to catch up to her. Haddie wanted to get back to the tower and start reading up on Quidditch.

| ♥Dunkin | Pixie's Precious Pea | kpop goddess | sneaky sounder | forever slytherin♥ Oh Merlin, it was over. Jaemin drew a deep, relieved breath and immediately urged the broom back toward the ground; as soon as his feet touched, he was jumping off of the thing, and he looked at it almost sadly. Flying made him so nervous... he'd wanted it to be fun and awesome like everyone else seemed to think it was, but apparently that just wasn't meant for him.
He totally was not giving up on it though. He was going to force himself to like flying. He was going to do it!!! Just... not today. The small Slytherin hurriedly carried the broom back to the shed and set it back in the place he'd pulled it from, just in case it might be offended if he put it elsewhere. Tiiiiime to get out of this place and go look at some plants to calm his jittery nerves.
"ThankyouforthelessonProfessor!" he called hurriedly, words smashing into each other as he attempted to make as quick an escape as possible. |
