A brisk wind would certainly not keep the young witches and wizards of Hogwarts away, Tiara mused on her way down to the pitch. Though many of them would never have done anything with a broom before besides sweep the floor, hopefully their eagerness to learn would trump the less-than-perfect conditions. Ideally this lesson would have been months ago. But with the uncertainty surrounding Abraham and then Meredith.. well, this had been pushed to the back burner on the list of priorities to sort out.
Such were the thoughts swirling through Tiara's head before she arrived at her old stomping grounds. She paused to reflect at how much had changed since her arrival at Hogwarts. First Quidditch and flying with her office right here in the stadium, then a sabbatical and marriage after being aged almost into extinction, coming back just to take up Arithmancy a few months into term, working closely with Leobald and Ravenclaw, having her role with Ravenclaw ended, and now almost full circle - back to first year flying lessons. But this wouldn't do: students would be arriving soon. Focus, Tyner.. Tanner! She grinned in spite of herself.
The referee/official-turned-professor whipped out her wand and performed a full array of cushioning charms on the ground of the stadium. Hard-packed ice had made it even more unforgiving to land on than normal. The next stop was to unlock the broomshed, also with the aid of her wand. Finally, she made a sign appear in front of the stadium: "First year flying lesson inside the stadium, personal brooms not allowed by school rules". After that there wasn't much left to do but wait in the cold wind.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
Torrance came into the Stadium Grounds and arched his head up, looking around at the whole stadium. This place was awesome. This must be how Ross feels every time just before a match?! He ignored at how cold the weather has been for today. He didn't care that his first Flying Lesson at Hogwarts would be again bitter winds. He was prepared for that, he 'borrowed'a pair of Benton's Goggles when his Hufflepuff Cousin wasn't looking. Earlier today. So that would prevent the winter winds from stinging his eyes.
As stated this was his first Flying Lesson at Hogwarts. having an Older Cousin in the Pros meant that he learned how to fly on a Broom earlier. So he knew basics. What he really wanted was to learn how to Fly on his own. No broom attached. He would perhaps make it known to the Professor Flying Lady that she should call this lesson BROOM Flying Basics. Just to clarify in case there were any Rare individuals like himself who wanted to whoosh through the sky like Superman. "Hello Missus Professor Tanner Flying Lady" He smiled at her, and gave her a nod.
Haddie skidded into the Quidditch Pitch, gasping for air. She had ran here. All the way from the Ravenclaw tower. It wasn't as if she'd been counting the seconds since the official announcement. They had reinstated flying lessons!! And they were getting a flying lesson!!
"Prof...Professor Tanner, c-can we s...skip the... fly.." The young firstie tried to gasp out a reversal of the question she asked nearly ever Arithmancy lesson. Can we skip the flying today and have a math lesson instead? It would have been cute and funny, or so she thought, had she had enough breath to actually spit it out. Halfway through the Californian eagle gave up with a wave of her hand and doubled over to catch her breath.
When she could breath somewhat regularly again, she stood up straight. "Hello, Professor Tanner." She still sounded a bit out of breath, but at least she could talk. "I ran from the tower," she explained. The girl was excited. Even winded, that was clear. She had an air about her that gave the distinct impression of a boiler about to explode. Too much energy packed into too small a container, just waiting to be released... and we all know how that goes.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Haddie had ran away and left Rachel behind. The nerve of her best friend but she didn't mind. No, not in the least as she knew how excited the other girl was for the lesson. Rachel took her time in getting down to the windy pitch. It wasn't that she wasn't excited for the flying lesson; it was more that she had already gotten some experience about broomsticks and Quidditch at Primary Wizarding school.
"Hello, Professor Tanner,'' Rachel greeted when she arrived. She gave the woman a friendly smile then turned to Haddie. "Leaving your best friend behind is frowned upon, you know.'' But her fellow Eagle was being smiled at then she received a look of great concern. "Are you alright?'' All that running seemed to have taken the air out of her.

Haddie took a deep breath. Her lungs still burned a little, but she was catching her breath in full now. Though, her mouth was a bit dry. Taking out Kira, her wand, Haddie aimed it toward her mouth. "Aguamenti." A nice little stream of water jumped from her wand tip to her mouth. When she was done, she aimed the wand away from her, or anyone else. "Finite."
She turned to Rachel and arched an eyebrow. "I told you to hurry up. It's not my fault you're slow." The Californian girl simply nodded, with a tiny annoyed sigh. She loved Rachel, but her best friend was such a worrywart. "I'm fine. Better than you are, really. You get winded just walking from the seventh floor." Remember Arithmancy, hmmm? She gave Rachel that knowing little smirk of hers. That's right Freckle Face, I got you. It wasn't really Rachel's fault though. Not everyone got to spend their childhood climbing hills, exploring abandoned malls, surfing, etc.
the Gryffindor walked in her tiptoes into the stadium grounds.
From last night she couldn't stop thinking about her flying lesson.
Since her childhood she was wondering about how to play quidditch. Or how was it flying with her broom. And today she'll learn it.
"Hello, professor Tanner. " Jessie smiled politely to the woman "Seems like I'll need your help a lot in this lesson." she hopes that she'll do no mistakes.

They be FLYIN!!!
And so was this speed devil towards the pitch. And he isnt even on a broom to do that.
Its true that first years arent allowed their own brooms. A travesty and such archaic, irrelevant ruling according to the senior Salander-- to which the junior could only wholeheartedly agree. But not being able to bring his own ride didn’t stop him from showing up on the first day of flying class. They'll be given the chance to do some legit flying, who cares if the ride is a little worse for wear eh?
"HI PROFESSOR TANNER HI!!" the curly top beamed with such warm enthusiasm the wintry wind couldnt possibly put a chill in it. "Do we get to pick out our own brooms now huh huh?" That open broom shed is like a picnic basket to a bear, absolutely irresistible.
Yeah thats what crazy is, when its broken you say theres nothing to fix++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++And you pray that everything will be okay, while you're making all the same mistakes
Melbourne was excited about this! She had even come prepared! Well, sort of prepared that is, the first year Ravenclaw had heard just how bad her siblings had been at this class so well, she’d brought a bag with some knee and elbow pads in them. Mel did not want to come out of this looking like a piñata felt after it had gotten a smack down.
Looking around at the field the first year couldn’t help but beam as she saw just whom the instructor was! PROFESSOR TANNER WAS AWESOME and fast becoming one of her favorites. “Hey Tenacius” she beamed over at her friend before waving at the other friends in the area. Yes Rachel and Haddie got waves. “Hello Professor Tanner!” Mel beamed at the Professor and looked around. “I brought mittens” she whispered leaning toward Tenacius, “you can have some if you need them” she said indicating to the bag slung across her shoulder. Heck, there weren’t just mittens in there. There were a few scarves and pairs of leg and arm warmers.
Reaching into the somewhat bundled up Gryffindor girl began to pull on a pair of legwarmers. “I feel like I look like a knock-off-1980s fitness person…you know…minus the leotard thing?” She shrugged and grinned over to her friends.

Carl walked to the Quidditch Pitch, uncertain if he wanted to do this or not. He was never a good athlete and although this was his first Flying Lesson, he knew that he would not be good at this sport either. However, Quidditch players looked super cool and impressive, so he might as well give it a try. Despite the cold, he was wearing less than usual, as he felt that this would help him fly better. It never hurt to be cautious.
After pausing only briefly to read the sign outside of the stadium, he walked in (without a personal broom) and smiled at the Arithmancy-Flying Professor. "Good afternoon, Professor Tanner."

Flying lessons..
Azura already knew how to fly really.. But she figured she might as well come out right? Get out of the common room and things like that. She sighed softly as she moved down to the quiddtich pitch, her cloak bundled tightly around her, her hair shipping in the wind.
She waved at Rachel and Haddie but didn't the best friends. Indeed she stood off to the side.. By herself a little bit.
It was sooooo chilly today, but that wasn't going to stop Jaemin from attending this lesson. It was one of the things he was most excited about when his letter had finally arrived. Herbology, History, learning ALL the magic, and FLYING. He wasn't awfully excited about heights ever in his life, but who could pass up learning how to defy gravity?! It was the closest he'd get to tallness.
He wasn't keen on the idea of getting sick again, so the small Slytherin appeared at the lesson much as he had at the CoMC lesson. Snuggly warm coat, snuggly warm scarf, snuggly warm gloves. He was, however, looking much less wilty and sleepy this time. And thank Merlin for that. He bounced aaaaall the way there, both because it was normal for him to do so and because it helped to keep him warm.
"Hiiii professor," he called happily as he joined the growing group of small humans inside the stadium. He looked up at the stands, and the posts, and everything Quidditch-y. He'd had opportunities to see this sort of stuff at Quidditch games his dad had taken him to, but those were few and far between. He wanted to see how big the goals really were, up close. All he had to do was waaaaaaait, heh.

First of all, Jace doesn't like flying. He had the same fear exactly two years ago when his papa forced him to join the Quidditch Summer Camp, but found it rewarding nonetheless. Hoping to learn more from a professor, the Ravenclaw made his way down to the meeting place as calmly as possible. He was neither scared or excited...just, curious.
As he got to the field, the first year inclined his head towards the woman and gave her a warm smile. "Good day, Professor Tanner." Jace tightened his scarf around his neck, and tried to ignore the cold breeze. It was a good thing he came in layers that day. He knew he'd be freezing up in the air...that is if he can still remember how to get off the ground.
Wait...is that Torrance? Jace slowly grinned at the sight of him and stood right next to the Gryffindor. "Nice to see you here, Torrance." he was honestly relieved to see another boy he's familiar with in the area.

It didn't take long for many other classmates in his year to come in behind him. He looked around at each of them. Tory even tried to listen to what Tenacious, and Mel were talking about? Something about extra mittens. He wanted Extra mittens!! Torrance was about to lean over and request that perhaps maybe Mel share with him too, when someone else greeted him.
Torrance turned and started responding back "Heeeeeeeeeey..." Oh it's the Ravenclaw boy....ummmm...."Jaaaaaaaace!" Was he right? Merlin he hoped he was right? "How's it going?" Did Jace, like to learn how to fly too, or was he here to just hone his skills in Quidditch?
Most of his classmates were probably here to do the ladder. Which was unfortunate.

Jace inclined his head at the boy, giving him a grin. "I'm doing well," he said as politely as he can, "How about you?" It has been a while since he last talked to his fellow first year. When was the last--oh, oh yes when they witnessed a girl fall into a fountain. Good day, that was.
"This place is way too cold for me." he said, rubbing both of his gloved hand, but that shouldn't stop him from improving his Flying skills. "Have you been to that Summer Quidditch camp...two years ago?" Jace met his future schoolmates back then...Ava, Teddy, and some older kids like David and Charlotte. They were in his group back then! He was sure they don't remember him though, except for the twins.

"Peachy Keen" Tory replied. "Just Dandy and stuff." Tory nodded in agreement with Jace's observation that it was way too cold for a flying lesson. "She's got extra Mittens." Tory called Mel out on her supposed stash of extra warm clothes he belived he heard her say to Ten, and putting her on the spot. None-the-less, they were here. So clearly they wanted to learn how to fly right? "I want learn how to fly without a broom." He told Jace...HOPEFULLY loud enough for the Professor Flying Math Lady could hear him. "I think that would be way cooler than having to sit uncomfortably on a broom all the time."
He had to think back to the Camp. No he wasn't certain he remembered Jace from there. He just remembered having his Cousin Benton with him. Who always stood behind him during the camp. "I went to it yeah, but I think I may have been in a separate group than yours." It didn't make the Camp any less fun. He eventually did meet Jace over the summer at Diagon Alley laughing his face off at Noelle for falling in the Fountain.

Broom flying or flying in general.
Now that was a subject definitely worth taking. And Olivia was more than grateful they were back to allowing it at Hogwarts in time for her first year here. That meant all the more fun to be had, once they had a lesson actually scheduled. Which as luck would have it was today and the Ravenclaw made her way out to the pitch with the rest of the gathered students, more than ready for whatever was planned for the flying class today. Now she could finally get up in the air regardless of having to borrow a broom from the school.
“Hello Professor,” she greeted the woman whom normally taught arithmancy. Seemed she was returning to her roots. “Hey,” she greeted her housemates as she moved to stand nearby. It looked like they were just as excited as she was and Olivia was certainly aware of Haddie’s attempts to get flying lessons out of the professor previously. She’d done it often enough in the other classes.

Really? Skip the flying and do arithmancy instead? Because that was surely what she had been about to say. Tiara just waited for her to catch her breath. "I see that," she said, having watched her run into the stadium. "At least you will stay warm for a few minutes!" she said jovially.

"Miss Stone! Welcome," she greeted the girl. Hopefully she had bundled up enough!
"Okay, everyone! While we wait for the last stragglers, go ahead and grab yourself a broom out of the shed over there," she said, turning towards it and pointing. "It is just around the corner through that exit."

A smile at the welcome, it seemed she had made it just in time as Professor Tanner spoke to the gathered group as a whole. Well she had gotten there on the pitch before the aforementioned last minute stragglers. Whoever they might be waiting on or missing at the moment. But still she was one of those free to grab a broom and the first year energetically moved to follow the woman’s point, throwing her scarf back around her neck as a breeze rushed in. Hopefully it wouldn’t be too cold up there once they left the ground.
Or the excitement would overwhelm the feeling.
At least she was bundled up as best she could to allow freedom of movement. Reaching the shed, Olivia looked vaguely over the options, finally picking a decent looking broom and heading back out so she was ready.
Haddie hopped up and down excitedly and seized Rachel's hand, dragging the poor girl with her to the shed in her excitement to get a broom. No one was going to get the first broom but her! With Rachel getting the second one. Oh! There was Jaemin! Haddie smiled and gave her dueling buddy a wave on the way to the shed. Oh, and Livvy and Azzy too! Haddie wave to both of them as well. And Livvy beat her to the broom shed. Figures. Oh well, they still get to pick before everyone else.
Perfect! Except Haddie didn't really know much about wizard brooms. Or anything really. Ah! That one looked have the least wear and tear on it, so that's probably the best one right? She really had no idea. Haddie shrugged and took it. Then she handed the second least worn looking broom to Rachel. And now they both had their broom. Good. Haddie head back to stand with Melon, bringing Rachel along with. "There, now the Canary Chain Gang will fly together." Sure it wasn't exactly as Canaries, but that would happen. As soon as one of them learned how to make the cupcakes that turn people into canaries. Until then, this would do.
No, the fact the that Mel was hanging around Tenacius had nothing to do with it. Quite the opposite really. Haddie always seemed to make a fool of herself in front of him, so she wasn't particularly inclined to be near him exactly in this class. But, she could do this. She could make it one class around Tenacius. Wow his hair was particularly great this afternoon. No, focus! But... don't be rude. Haddie gave Tenacius a meek little smile and wave, all the while avoiding looking at his mane.

FLYING!
Ariadne was on cloud nine million. She had waited and waited and waited for this for SO LONG! Coming from a family pretty much obsessed with Quidditch, she had been anxious to get on a broom and take to the skies. She was going to be AMAZING at this! She just knew it!
She had arrived moments before the professor's announcement to go get a broom out the shed. She had waited for that announcement to be over, too, before greeting the professor. "Hi, Professor Tanner!" she said, as she made her way to the shed. She browsed through the collected of school brooms and found the most decent one she could.
Waking back out the shed, she saw a few of her friends. There was Rachel, Haddie, Ace, Jace, and Azura. "Hey, guys," she said, joining her fellow firsties.

Azura smiled warmly at Professor Tanner. 'I'm happy to be here as well Professor." She said with a nod, just to let her know that she wasn't unhappy to be here.. She wanted to be here.. She was just..
*sighs*
She was just a mess cause of Jace Who had shown up after her and had ignored her. That was how things were going to go now weren't they? She bit her lip a little as she moved off to get her broom. The wind whipped at the twelve year old, but she just pulled her cloak in tighter and moved to where Professor Tanner had pointed out..
Once she had gotten a broom, she trudged back to where the rest of her fellow first years were.. A small smile came to her face as Haddie waved at her, but she still didn't join her Mel or Rachel She stood off to the side a bit, her head bowed against the wind, holding her broom and not looking at Jace.. It would probably be best if she just left him alone from now on.
Tears would have come.. had they not frozen to her face instantly..
She blinked and then waved at Ariadnewho had joined them.

Carl smiled and nodded at Professor Tanner, though he was not warm enough right now. Hopefully it was warmer up in the air than it was on the ground. With this thought in mind, he joined the group of people making their way to the broom shed the Professor pointed at.
He stayed at the back while everybody else picked their brooms. When it was his turn, he grabbed a random one and headed back to the middle of the pitch.
it got long sorry xD + Mel, Tory, Jace, Haddie, Ariadne and of course Professah

Not quite yet? Tenacius bounced listlessly on the balls of his feet when the Professor essentially told him to wait. Waiting isnt his strongest suit, she ought to know.
Hey hey hey! Bestie gal is here "Thanks Mel!" he beamed as he grabbed some mittens and scarves. And those leg warmers he actually wore on his arms, because where else should they go ey? Granted he was so pumped he didn’t really feel the cold but that can quickly be a different story when theyre up in the air zooming about.
Hey yo there be Bestie dude chatting up that other dude. Did he want some leg warmers for the arms? Well he was getting some like it or not. He slapped ALL the warmer things on Tory's chest while being all up-in-your-face on the Ravenclaw boy (Jace) "Hi! Have we met? I'm Tenacius, the poor unfortunate soul that has to sleep next to this truck horn every night." he nudged his head at Tory. "Arent you excited for flying?? I know we are!" Spread the excitement, even to those who arent quite as pumped about it.
But it was broom pickin time!! The curly top bolted for the broom shed and screeched to a halt before he slams into the back wall. Oh wow brooms!
....Oh wow these brooms need a LOT of work. Down to the level of YIKES even. Or at least it was to him because he's never had anything less than top of the line brooms. But Tenacius sniffed his aversions away and gritted his jaw. Today they were gonna fly and if he had to use one of these beat up ol jalopies then so be it.
He picked out the least scraggly one, or at least it was to him as it was really hard to pick out one that didn’t look like they needed replacing. As he stepped out of the broomshed, he caught Haddie's look and returned her wave, then decided to just walk towards her and chat her up, because cool girls should be chatted up duh "Hey Haddie! Is this your first time flying?"
Oh hey look it’s the Greingoth Gladiator. Yes that’s what he calls her "Heya Radnee!..." Yes he calls her that too "Ready to take on the friendly skies??" Or at least as friendly as they were back in Astronomy hehehe.
Yeah thats what crazy is, when its broken you say theres nothing to fix++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++And you pray that everything will be okay, while you're making all the same mistakes
Ohhh. They were... starting right off with actual flying, then? No first classes of theory or anything like that. Jaemin bit his lip a bit nervously and followed the rest of the class over to the shed for a broom, giving Haddie a little wave. He picked one that looked relatively safe, though... how could one really tell if a broom was safe, especially at his age? Still, at least it wasn't falling apart.
He carried it back over to where he had been standing, doing his best to not look apprehensive. The idea of flying in itself was fun, but... he wasn't sure if being off the ground would really be that much fun. He'd never flown outside of a plane before...
Mel looked over at Professor Tanner and was about to answer when Tory stepped in. Heh, it was true. “I also…uh…brought uh padded things…? I don’t exactly come from a family of great flyers? My brother’s good, but my sister wasn’t” she admitted with a laugh. “But I brought extra mittens if it got reaaaaaally cold today Professor,” she smiled and placed the bag on the ground before sheepishly adding “I didn’t want to end up like my sister and fly into one of the hoops” she admitted with a grin before looking over at Haddie and grinning.
“Yes we are! Canaries for the win” she grinned and gave Jace a grin. Raising an eyebrow at Tory she just grinned that did sound cool. Of course she waved at Jace. “Hi Jace,” she grinned at the Ravenclaw boy before walking over to the shed and grabbing a broom and heading back.
