Although he had been here countless of times, Yoongi had never really stopped to admire how beautifully made the entrance hall of Hogwarts was. When it wasn't being demolished by some dark creature of course. Also, this place was usually deserted because most students either went outside or up the staircase that lead in to the Great Hall to eat.

The Head Boy however, sat on the stone steps of the staircase. His school bag stood beside him, his textbooks and notes peeking out as he opened it up. He rummaged through his bag until he found what he was looking for. Pulling out a moisturizing cream, the Gryffindor put some on the tip of his fingers and began applying it to his face. Cold weather was definitely not agreeing with his skin. At least he didn't have a cold...yet.

James was not stopping to admire how beautifully made the entrance hall was. He walked in and out of this place countless times in a single day. That's what living outside meant. He got his peace and quiet, but he had to walk in and out of the castle for meals, meetings, y'know... The works. Tiring. And he was desensitized to how the entrance hall looked. It was his daily view.

And generally speaking, he didn't stop to talk to anyone. However, the sitting boy caught his attention. Not because he was sitting, but because he had a badge. Head Boy.

This could be fun.

With smug smile in place, the Creatures Professor walked towards the Head Boy. "I've never seen anyone apply makeup without a mirror." Heh.

The Head Boy shifted his body so that his back was leaning against the side of the staircase and waited as the moisturizing cream was getting in to his skin, giving it a slight glow. The entrance hall was deserted so when he heard the unmistakable sounds of footsteps coming closer, did he look up only with his eyes to see who it was.

Makeup….. WHY did they always think he was applying makeup?! Seriously students and staff at Hogwarts... Never heard of skin care? Merlin’s Beard, they should try it sometimes.“Perhaps that’s because I’m not like everyone else, Professor” he said, snapping the lid of the cream bottle with a loud clap and looked up at the Professor he had seen a few seconds earlier as he had entered the hall. And then he grinned. “I’m better” He put the bottle back in his bag and stood up "And its a cream, Sir. Not makeup" he had a hard time not to roll his eyes right now. “You're the new Creatures Professor , right?" of course...that explained a lot...

Of course James had been hoping the boy would deny the use of makeup or at least insist that it was something else, but he didn't. Hm. No matter, James would find other ways to get under his skin. It was something the Professor was practically a professional at.

James raised his brows at the boy, merely in curiosity. "... I can see that," most boys here didn't put on makeup, that was the first hint that this one was different. And full of himself as well. That much was clear.

HA. At his declaration, James let a bark-like laugh escape him. Better. This kid was a comedian! Hilarious. It took only a second for the smug look to return to his face as he considered the boy carefully. "Why? Because you wear a badge?" Come on kid, impress him. Why are you better than everyone else?

He watched as the Head Boy snapped the makeup shut. Oh wait. Cream not makeup. How silly of him. James really ought to pay more attention before he label face cream as makeup.... Yeah, right. "My mistake," cream, makeup, it was all the same really. "Right," James confirmed. This kid wasn't going to be surprised to see that his Professor has opposable thumbs, right? Because that was starting to get a bit old.

Wait what? Why? Most people accepted the fact when he said he was better... So why wasn't he?! Probably because he was the leader of the students and they didn't dare talk against him ...but he was a Professor... He mentally cursed himself for talking before thinking. He was still going to try though. "Wel...no, i mean yes, it does count a lot doesn't it? This badge" he said, he had to be better at something if he had gotten this. "Not to mention that everything i do turns out to be too stylish" he sighed loudly.

The loud and sudden bark like laugh startled the Head Boy so much that he jumped in the air a little bit and he tried so hard not to glare at the Professor. He hated unexpected things and he couldn't see any reason for him to laugh like that. Well, at least he was apologizing for his mistake about the make up, uh, cream... "You want to try some? Its really good for the skin!" and without waiting for an answer he began to open up his bag to find the bottle of cream.

Ah! So he was the new creatures Professor? He was getting good at guessing~ "What brings you here, Sir?" didn't he have an office on the Grounds or something? "Oh, and i'm Yoongi by the way" he said, holding out his free hand because the other had the bottle in it.

Come ooooon! Try!

Perhaps that’s because James wasn’t like everyone else, Yoongi.

”Depends,” he’d ignore the last bit about style. James didn’t have anything nice to say about that. ”Anyone can wear a badge.” It was, after all, only a piece of metal. ”But are you doing anything to make sure you deserve it?” he lifted a single brow. In James’ own experience, student leaders were just those that sucked up long enough to get the shiny and then afterwards they did nothing but abuse it’s power. Or what little power it actually had.

It’s why he never fancied to be a prefect anyways. Useless title if you asked him. They couldn’t even take away points. But he didn’t say any of this out loud. Surely some Professor would throw a fit if these words got relayed back to them. Ten galleons says it’d be Poncho Paul.

James’ smug smile stayed in place as he noted how startled the Head Boy got. Merlin, were there no basic requirements for the positions anymore? Their Head Boy was no better than an easily frightened kneazle. Good luck, Hogwarts. But the smug smile quickly dropped at the boy’s offer. ”…No.” He eyed the cream bottle that the boy was now holding out towards him. No he didn’t want it.

What were Professor not allowed to walk around the castle any more? Never mind the fact that he was actually here to talk to he Headmistress, but that was something the boy didn’t have to know. ”Professor Draper,” he held out his hand to meet Yoongi’s. Though hopefully Yoongi already knew this. ”I’m here looking for a student.” Eh, not really but now that he was here, might as well get this done too. ”One with a cat.” For no particular reason… Heh. ”Know any?”

He had the feeling that this Professor did not like him. And Yoongi did not like it when people did not like him. It made him uncomfortable but he was good at hiding his discomfort for the moment and he stared back at the man. His voice however, betrayed him. “I don’t…..know” He frowned and looked down at the badge on his chest. Was he making him question his whole power?! He did not like this Professor already. He closed his eyes for a second and took a deep breath. “I don’t even get the question , Sir…” what was he supposed to say to that? How was he even supposed to know why or how he had gotten the Badge. He didn’t even know it himself! "I don't know what i'm supposed to do to deserve this badge" was he happy now? "I'm just doing my best okay?! You know how stressful this is? Not only do i need to look out for the other students but also the other Prefects" especially Henric and Candice, it was only a matter of time they were getting in to a fight . If that hadn't happened already... "I have to stay up late to patrol the corridors, go to classes in the early morning and be expected to look presentable at all time. My sleeping rhythm is not normal , i need to do my homework, study for my NEWTS which i just CAN'T fail. Oh and i heard i am going to die soon according to that old Hag over there" he looked at the entrance hall door leading to the outside world. "and to top it of i'm only sixteen!" He breathed out heavily as he had said all of this at top speed. Merlin's Beard that felt good to get that out.

Another thing he did not like was the smug smile that seemed to stay on his face. Seriously, scaring people was not a funny thing to do. Especially when they were already jumpy. No? NO?! Yoongi couldn’t help it anymore, he rolled his eyes and put the bottle of cream back in his bag as he muttered a “of course not…” sounding a bit disappointed and he would have said more but he was wise enough to know that it would cause him and or his House trouble so he bit his tongue in order to not say what he wanted to say.

The answer on why he was here made him forget about his annoyance with the new Professor but it was back as quickly again. He was looking for a student….with a cat….at Hogwarts…. Wow…. “I know a few...but why?" he asked, curiosity written all over his face. Why was he looking for a student with a cat?

If it’d make Yoongi feel any better, James didn’t like most people. Nothing personal, kid. It just happens.

…… Um.

The Professor had only meant to pull at some strings. Y’know, get the kid to think. But apparently he had struck a chord. And the boy was having a full on meltdown. Wonderful. Exactly what he needed. A crying child. The Head Boy, no less. He wasn’t going to start crying… Was he? Because James could handle dragons, but crying almost-adults. Uh. No thank you.

….. Right.

He had stopped paying attention about half way through the Head Boy’s speech, but he was certain it ended the same way it started. Man, James had forgotten what it was like to be a kid. Though, it sounded like Yoongi was having a very different Hogwarts experience than that of his own. Boy just needed to loosen up a little. Drink some firewhiskey, turn his homework in a day late, relax. Though, James wasn’t about to advocate this kind of behavior. Just, y’know lowkey. Youngi needed to get out more.

”Whoa, relax kid,” for the love of Circe. ”I didn’t say you don’t deserve it. I’m sure you must’ve done something right to have gotten the badge.” Eh, doubtful. But the kid didn’t know that. [b]”Clearly whoever gave you this position thinks you can handle all that comes along with it,”[b/] referring to the endless whining a few seconds ago. ”Whining will get you no where.” James was a man of the truth. The sometimes cold, hard truth. ”Action will.” And that’s how you proved you deserved it.

Better?

And y’know, just because he was feeling generous he would pretend like he hadn’t seen that eye roll. One free pass. He could consider it his get out of jail free card. Wouldn’t happen again, James was normally ruthless. Anyways, the important task at hand while he had the head boy around was figuring out this cat nonsense. ”I found a cat collar in the corridor the other day, and I want to return it to it’s owner.” Not exactly the truth… Actually, not remotely the truth… But Yoongi didn’t need to know that. ”I need some names,” Come on Head Boy, prove yourself useful.

Relax kid? RELAX KID?!

"i AM relaxed!" he said frustratingly, running a hand through his hair as he said so. The action caused him to groan in annoyance yet again as it was messing up his hair and he began to style it with his fingers. "I'm sorry, i'm just..." he sighed loudly "really stressed at the moment. And your question wasn't helping much" And no, he wasn't crying. He got scared easily but he wasn't the type to immediately cry when things got bad.

The Gryffindor listened and thought about what the Professor had to say about his badge. So did he thought he did deserve it or not? This man was like majorly confusing, did he know that? "You're right, there must be a reason other than my awesomeness" he said, getting back to his normal personality again. He looked at the ground next to the Professor as he thought about what that could be. "What though?" he mumbled, more to himself. He was a failure in most classes except Charms. Been here only two years. Still got lost going to classes sometimes. Most of his friends had already left school... "I'm not whining!" he whined, snapping his head back up as he got out of his thoughts.

He raised an eyebrow at the action part however. "Yeah well, no matter what i do, it's always not good enough in the eyes of the other students. I don't like rules a lot, but i do try to take my job seriously" eeeeh minus the time he had sneaked out of the castle to go to the Halloween rave party that Noel and Dante had organized. Party of the year! he could not miss that! Luckily no one found out about that.

He found a cat collar in the corridor and wanted to return it to its owner? Yoongi stared at him, trying to figure out if he was pulling his leg. ".................Right" he said eventually and began to think. "Well there's......." he stopped talking, his hand in the air as if he wanted to count his fingers. He had seen so many cats wandering around the castle but he never stopped to think about to who they belonged to. "Why not hang the collar on the student notice board? It's much easier and i bet the person would be checking the board a few times a day" he said and yet again he opened up his bag but this time he took out his note book and the bright red royal pheasant quill he had gotten from diagon alley months ago. "You can use this to write a note, Sir" wasn't that nice of him?

”… Right,” the Head Boy was as much relaxed as James was the Queen of England. So not at all, actually. But pointing it out would only make matters worse and despite the fact that Professor Jerkface wanted to get under the boy’s skin… That would be taking it too far. And James knew limits. It was arguably his best quality.

Though what was said next... James deadpanned. Had they boy listened to anything James had said? Clearly not. ”Ought to be careful with that kind of arrogance,” just saying. Not that James should be the one speaking on this matter. Being hypocritical and what not, but still. It was good advice. Big Headed Boy needed to peg himself down a few notches. Badge or not. Take it as he will. James had done enough elaboration here. It was already getting exhausting.

Merlin, he was going to have to give some kind of pep talk here wasn’t he? James didn’t do peptalsk. He did truth. This was not in the job description. A bit annoyed, James went ahead and took a seat on the step above where Yoongi sat. ”Can’t make everyone happy, Head Boy.” It was the truth. A hard truth, but the truth regardless. ”Take your job seriously, but you can’t take life too seriously.” Something he was sure the boy had trouble with given all the makeup products and whatnot. ”Everyone screws up, your job is simply to screw up less than the others. Think that’s pretty manageable, yeah?” Or was he going to whine some more because that’s all Draper’s got.

Again he stood up,

This time he eyed the kid…. ”Oh what an ingenious idea, how come I hadn’t thought of it before?” James used every ounce of sarcasm he could muster. Though the truth was, he hadn’t thought of it before. This was all improv. Just needed to make sure the Pretty Boy didn’t figure that part out. ”Put up a notice a week ago, turns out Hogwarts students could care less about the notice board.” Eh, it was possible. ”So I’m taking a different approach now. Thought I could count on the Head Boy to know the students around here, but clearly I was mistaken.”

Heh.

So he thought he was arrogant huh? He personally called it confidence but whatever."Sorry SIR" he said, making sure he emphasized the sir. Seriously, if he was so arrogant and Big Headed he wouldn't have asked a younger student to tutor him.

He watched the Professor as he began to walk up the stairs, thinking, no praying he would leave him alone and that he went to the Great Hall to eat. But luck wasn't on his side because as he turned around he saw that he had taken a seat a stair above him. Head Boy ...couldn't he atleast call him by his last name?!

Yoongi braced himself for whatever speech was about to come because he had the feeling it wasn't going to be friendly but when the Professor spoke he looked surprised at him. Had he just....given him advice? Yoongi nodded his head, showing that he was listening ,Huh...maybe he wasn't so bad aftera--

He couldn't help it this time. The amount of sarcasm that had been used caused his face to go bright red and he had to look down at the quill in his hand in humiliation. Nearly crushing the feather. "You...you could have told me that before i suggested it" he said, stuttering because he was getting angry with the man. He was skilled with nonverbal spells...couldn't he just...you know... Just once? But then he remembered how much trouble he would be in, getting detention the least of his problems as Head Boy. "I can't read minds..."

The feeling like he was trying to embarrass him didn't go away as he mentioned that he had been sure he knew the students around here. "You expect me to know everyone here?! And to know who has cats?" he only had about three people he actually talked to now. The rest had already graduated and he wasn't even sure if any of them had cats. "So im SO SORRY" not. " i let you down" he stuffed the notebook and quill inside his bag and hoisted it over his shoulders. "I do have a question for you,professor, do you have a problem with me or something?" because none of the other professors talked to him like that

James noticed the emphasis on the latter half of the Head Boy’s apology, only slightly raising a brown in response. This boy was incredibly full of himself, wasn’t he?

”Where would be the fun in that?” Merlin, the boy got worked up so easily. It took all the fun out of this conversation. They ought to come with some sort of warning label. One that says “hi, don’t talk to me because I’m too sensitive”. Clearly the kid couldn’t read minds. That sort of talent took skill and honestly the only skill James reckoned this kid had was the skill to be incredibly childlike. They were sure the badge wasn’t stolen, yeah?

”I reckoned the Head Boy would know more than the general student body,” again, clearly mistaken here. Though, the kid did say he knew a few names. And here James stood, without a single one told to him. Just saying.

The kid’s question made James laugh a bit. Being that it was so incredibly childish. Actually James didn’t have a problem with him, so much as he wanted to help pull the kid together. Clearly the boy had plenty of insecurities that he was trying to cover up with his sense of vanity. James saw right through it. Besides, James wouldn’t have bothered being harsh with the boy if he didn’t care. No, actually, he was being harsh because beating around the bush and flattery wouldn’t ever work. And whether or not Yoongi realized, James was teaching him something here.

”No.” Plain and simple. It was also the truth. ”Not yet,” unless the boy gave him a reason to have a problem with him.

"Well i..." Yoongi thought and then when he didn't know how to answer that question he closed his mouth again. He didn't know what the fun would be, actually he didn't see the joke at all. He simply did not like it when people spoke to him in sarcasm, it made him feel stupid.

And the Professor was still going on about being the Head Boy meant he would have to know more than just the other students. Which is like, so not true in his opinion and he wondered if the other Prefects knew everyone. He doubted it. "i do know people around here, just not how much you assume i need to know. I mean, come on ive only been here for two years!" How was he suppossed to know everything about everyone?

The laugh made him raise his eyebrow. WHAT was so funny about his question?! First he mocked him, then called him dumb in a polite kind of way and now he was laughing? He never thought he would think this of a Professor because he always respected them but he did not like this new one. But then the answer to his question finally came and Yoongi ,who had wanted to say goodbye and walk away, stood looking puzzled. "I'm sorry..." and this time he said it genuinely. "I thought you did... i've been incredibly rude haven't i?" he laughed sheepishly while scratching the back of his neck.

Kneazle's got his tongue, yeah? Though James didn’t dare comment on that out loud. Merlin forbid the Head Kid got offended about that too. There was only so much sensitivity James could handle in one day and apparently they had reached the limit in one conversation alone. Congratulations, kid. You did it.

Eh, and the excuses didn’t interest James much. Though, his curiosity did peak here. Only two? He raised his brows, only slightly in a manner of mild interest. ”And the other years... You were where?” It was a civil question. Nothing to get offended about here. Probably that French academy if James had to guess. Their specialty was raising delicate flower children. The French were all like that. He’d know, he had numerous encounters with French woman. All sensitive. All annoying.

Honestly, James didn’t know what he was expecting from the Head Kid. There was a lot of offense being taken and an apology was the LAST thing James thought he’d hear. But… Oh? Interesting. This kid was interesting. The apology was necessary because Head Kid over here WAS incredibly rude, but eh. James didn’t acknowledge the question, no need to point out the obvious here. Kid was apologetic. That was enough. Besides, if he confirmed the thought sensitivities might break out again and James was 500% done with that today. ”I suggest finding a release for all the pressure you’re under,” Or the supposed pressure, anyway. Just another useful piece of advice. Merlin, he was handing them out like chocolate frogs today.

”Have any hobbies?” And if the boy said anything about pampering himself, James would actually leave.

Yoongi was slowly but visibly calming down as the seconds past. Mostly because the man was now asking questions in a normal, curious kind of way instead of the sarcasm he had used earlier. "I went to a school that specialises in Charms, Sir" he answered, placing his bag on the ground again now that he wasn't going to walk away but he kept standing instead of sitting down on the steps. "I kind of miss the place" he sighed. He missed his friends the most. Of course he had made some here as well, but having to leave friends behind was aweful.

The Head Boy bit his lower lip as he waited for the Professor's reaction to his apology and when he accepted it he let out a breath he hadn't realised he had been holding. "I know, but i don't know what" he admitted. "Oh! Maybe i can help out with taking care of the animals in my free time?" he asked. "Not the scary ones but the cute ones like m---" he shut his mouth tightly and swallowed the 'me' that had threatened to come out. See! He could be modest~! This was easy ha!

Hobbies? "Taking long baths' especially now that i can use the Prefects bathroom, have you SEEN that place ?! The bubbles alone are awesome" he positively beamed as he spoke. "I also like to practise spells in the training hall, for the duel club, i need a better score this year you see. Get in the top 3 atleast!" Bet he didn't see that coming. Most people were perplexed when they heard he was a duelist. Speaking of the club. "Did you sign up as well, Professor?"

It wasn't usually like Azura to be so far from the Ravenclaw common room, but her mind was full and so she was just wandering it seemed. She blinked though as she got to the grand hall!

She sat down on the stairs and pulled out a book on charms that her parents has sent her for her recent birthday!

Some of these would come in handy for the dueling club she was sure!

"Avis." She muttered as she made the wand movement of an m! Birds hmm? That could be helpful!

Thank goodness Head Kid seemed to be calming down a bit. And now James knew what to avoid here. Topic wise, however, he'd probably be avoiding the Gryffindor as well. For future cases. "You any good at them?" Charms, he meant. His tone wasn't demeaning or sarcastic either. Just a question. If you went to a charms school, had to mean you were good at charms, yeah? That and James wasn't about to give the boy another pep talk about embracing the new and letting go of the old. Kid had already used up his peptalk allowance for the day. Try again next time.

..... What? The dainty kid was asking if he could help with the creatures? The idea was absolutely laughable. He could hardly imagine that the Head Child would be willing to get down in the dirt. It was a ridiculous idea, though James tried his best to respect it. "If you would really like to.... I wouldn't be opposed," did he really want to though? James was hoping for a no. Ahem.

Baths were not a hobby. They were a necessity. The Professor had to actively remind himself not to roll his eyes. "... I'll take your word for it." He had never and would never intend on going to the Prefect's bathroom to take a look. Honestly. "No," he answered leaving out any elaboration. Instead, going back to what Head kid was on about. "Dueling, good way to take out stress," he nodded. "How often do you practice?"

The first year made his way into the entrance hall from the Hufflepuff common room. He hadn't really been out and about too much since that whole thing with the hag. Yeah, time had passed and now it was the new year but he was still shaken up about what had happened.

Bradson stuffed his hands in his jacket pockets. He was thinking that he was going to outside today but maybe not now. Or heck, maybe he would.

As the Scottish boy walked along he saw one of his Ravenclaw friends. We're they friends?

"What are you trying to do?"

Azura looked up as she saw Brady coming towards her and her purple eyes instantly filled with sympathy. She had heard what had happened to him at that horrible lesson with that terrible teacher. She just wanted to rush up and hug him!

She wasn't sure how he would take that though.. but she didn't really care! She was a hugger!

"How are you?" She asked as she stood up and hugged him. "I heard about what happened." She said softly as she pulled back, her hug was meant to comfort him! "Are you all right?" She asked before sighing and looked back at her book.

"I'm attempting to work on charms for dueling club.. it isn't working so well though." She said with a shrug.

He was being hugged, wasn't he? Oh god no. Why? What did he do to deserve to be hugged? Bradson didn't hug her back at all. He didn't do that sort of thing.

"Seems like a lot of people have heard about what happened." Bradson shrugged a bit. "Alright but I'd be better if you stopped hugging me." The Scottish boy said with a nodded. He wasn't a hugger or one to hug someone. He didn't even hug his grandmother or little sister. He wouldn't even hug his best friend but she would hug him.

"Are you even at the level of charms that you're supposed to be when doing this charm?"

Ohhh.. Not a hugger.. Okay! He was added to the list with Colt of people not to hug. She couldn't help it usually, but if she knew people really didn't like it, she would try to refrain.

"Sorry." Azura instantly dropped her arms and stepped away from him and sat back down on the steps all in one movement.. Though her sit was really more of a fall and not at all graceful. She just had to get away from him as quickly as possible.

"Mmm, yeah I heard and I was a bit worried." Azura said honestly as she looked up at him.. "There, no more hugs!" See! She was safely away from him!

"Well, I am glad to hear that you are doing better."

Though she sighed as she heard his next words. "No, not really, but the Charms professor taught me the cushioning charm. the actual cushioning charms and I know the Disillusionment charm, so I thought I might be able to tackle this one?" She wasn't sure.. She might have to go ask the Professor to teach her about it!

Any good at…?? Was he serious? Of course he was good at them! He would be a horrible student if he had spent four years learning advanced charms and not be good at them. Yoongi nodded his head at his question. “I am” he answered confidently. If there was one thing apart from his appearance that made him confident , it was Charms. “If I weren’t I wouldn’t be standing here , right?” he laughed bitterly.

His words said that he wouldn’t be opposed by the idea of him working with the animals, but the man’s face told him differently and truth to be told, he didn’t really want to work in the dirt. But an annoying voice in his head said that he had to say yes so that he could annoy the professor back “I’ll think about it…” he said slowly.

He had never seen the Prefect’s bathroom!? The Head Boy looked shocked. But he was a staff member now! Wasn’t he at least a little curious to see the rooms he had been forbidden to enter while at Hogwarts? Because he doubted it this man had been a Prefect judging by his tone whenever the word came. He’d probably been a troublemaker while at school, Yoongi would bet all of his non-existing money on it.

“Well…” he said slowly. “I used to practise an hour each day last year” but that was last year. When he didn’t have responsibilities as the Head Boy or NEWT studies. “But now maybe two a week” which he wanted to make more as he wanted to come in the top three this year. “And I have patronus lessons with Hady once a week” so his time went in that as well. “Anyways, Sir, about the cat collar, I’ll ask around if someone has lost one so you don’t need to do the searching alone” or had he already forgotten about the collar?

"... Right," eh. Not quite. It was still incredibly vain and Draper still had a problem with it. But the kid was Head Boy, the fame got to those ones quickly. James remembered from his own Hogwarts days. The student leaders tended to fall on a set of a) actually helpful to b) big headed. And the Head Kid fell on the latter half.

As for 'thinking about it', James gave the kid a look but refrained from commenting any further. The Head Kid was the one that offered. James didn't actually want his help. So it'd work out for everyone. Head Kid didn't have to show up and James didn't have to deal with him. It was a win-win.

And about everything else, James had literally stopped caring a good three minutes into this whole conversation once it was apparent that the Head Kid would be of absolute zero help. And now they were returning the conversation back to the nonexistent cat collar. Right. "Excellent," James nodded. Actually none of this conversation was at all appreciated.
