| | |  Dueling Arena
 A well lit circular room, the Dueling Arena is a room in which magical defensive methods can take place. This is a room that screams extravagance, from its high ceiling to the windows that surround the walls and the detailing that can be found here and there. While no fireplace can be seen, there will be a heating charm put into place to keep you going through the blistering cold.
Various platforms have been put up around the room for those who like to show off their defensive techniques. For the more shy individuals, practice on the floor as you will. Just be aware that while the ground may look hard, falling onto it is going to feel about as tough as falling onto a body-form mattress.
Not ready to practice on another human being? Use one of the dummies surrounding the left hand side of the wall. Just make sure to put them back in their places once you're done.

Azura toon a deep breath as she headed into the dueling arena. She needed help! The first dueling class had told her that much, and she was going to try and get as much help as she could in order to not make a fool out of herself! So she had sought out the head girl! Her spells were impressive in the first meeting and maybe she could help her cast Avis without using much energy!
The little first year looked around the room with a bit of a smile! It was impressive! And she scrambled up into the platform and held her wand out and smiled a bit as she took a stance and waited for Tia.

Charlotte HAD WON against her friend Ava, JUST LIKE she had always been so confident about. Ava couldn't go around saying she was better anymore, or that she was the best, but Char also knew it wouldn't be a good idea if she tried to say she was the best either, because she wasn't, not yet.
Not YET.
But she planned to work on it, and felt this burning desire bubbling up inside her to become the best of the best of the BEST. So she was here to practice things, to work on things, and to start taking the steps toward what had suddenly become a SUPER IMPORTANT goal.
She was all kitted out in her dueling gear, and had her wand and a defense spell book that she had got from the library. She was gonna teach herself some spells!

The man had gotten so used to making sure it was in a good enough condition - and no one had punctured a dummy with their bare fists in the name of hormones - that he didn't even think twice when he went in there again that day.
............ And then he paused.
And blinked.
Charlotte Kettleburn in here with a book? Wasn't she one of the more boisterous lot? Moving further into the room, he stopped a short way away to catch a glimpse of the title of the book. A book on defensive spells, was it? He glanced between that piece of literature and then the girl and......... yeah, he was confused.
"Books can only teach you so much, you know."

Charlotte looked up. But she WAS the child of Ravenclaws, so books were always a good place to start when she had enough actual motivation to give them a go. "But I have to start somewhere--OOH ENTRAIL EXPELLING CURSE!" That looked fun! But dummies didn't have entrails did they? Also... also she knew that wasn't allowed in dueling club, but still! IT DID look fun.
"I want to learn more spells that I can use in duels because all the strategies I have so far, other people are starting to copy them." She explained. "But I'm only in second year so I don't know enough spells yet, so I figured I'd look in here for spells I can try, and then try them all out." Not entrail expelling, for the record, that one just LOOKED impressive.
And then something occurred to her.
"Professor Hirsch," She began, big blue eyes getting artfully bigger, "Could you teach me some cool things? Please? Like extra credit? Pleaaaaase?" Only if they were cool things though, actual spells, not theory.
See these puppy dog eyes? See this passion for your subject? You know you want to, Hirschy.

She knew. She knew. So why..........? There wasn't anything wrong with bringing books in here, sure, but it just seemed unusual for her, according to the man. Unless, of course, he'd simply gone along with assumptions and the like. He was about to open his mouth to say something but.......
......... Oh Merlin. Oh Merlin no. The Entrail Expelling Curse? Really?! Was he even getting paid enough for this? "Are you planning on using that spell?" Like on a human? Because if she used it on the dummies, no entrails would be expelled. Just saying.
And there it was. The real reason. Roderik crossed his arms across his chest and tried his hardest not to smile at her, uh, problem? There was something remarkable about seeing a kid - or teenager - getting passionate about the subject he loved. These were the students he really liked teaching. But first: everyone was using her technique? "What's this technique of yours?"
Here came those eyes. Merlin, did she know that as long as it wasn't dark magic, he didn't mind teaching it? The Professor stood there pretending to mull it over, even if he was inwardly amused. That enthusiasm. It was because of that enthusiasm.
"If that's the case then tell me: what do you want to learn?"
