Mentions of Jace, Elsa, Kitty and Esme

Almost as if her thoughts had conjured him.. Azura saw Jace walk down to the class and her purple eyes lit up ever so softly as she saw the Japanese boy, only to have the light in them dim.. as he just walked on by.. Did he wave at her? She wasn't sure.

She bit her lip a little as she felt her heart fall to her feet. Was it.. too late to leave class?

What was she thinking? She shouldn't leave class!! Instead she moved to the back and picked a seat right on the edge of the class.. so Jace couldn't see her.It would be better if he didn't know she was here right?

Stupid feelings.. Stupid stupid feelings.

She spotted Kitty And she slowly waved to her and Esme as well.. before she turned to see Elsa She managed a wave at her before she saw her speak..

She slowly shook her head.. "Later." She mouthed.. Things were far from okay..

She had seen the notice for the class including the special instructions. So Olivia had known to come to the lake rather than the usual spot for their Care of Magical Creatures classes. However that didn’t mean the first year was off the hook for getting there. Wrapped up snuggly and secure for a late January day…morning…the Ravenclaw hurried across the grounds to make the 9 am time for the lesson. Her quick movements helped keep her from freezing but not by much. And when she finally reached the spot where she spotted everyone else already gathered, she was really hoping it got warmer.

“Good morning Professor,” she greeted simply as she moved to take one of the few empty seats on the benches. As for her friends, Olivia offered a faint smile as she prepared for the lesson in the chill. Oooo jars…for something.

WeasleyGirl 02-17-2016 09:03 PM

Hugo put on a jacket before going to class, this time was Care of Magical Creatures. Making his way to the grounds he thought about starting to study for the OWLs, he already gave up on Arithmancy and History of Magic 'cause he was no good at it or was too lazy to even try to study but he didn't wanna fail so...yeah. Besides it was a lot he had to study and didn't wanna leave it until the last minute.

The prefect arrived just in time as always and greeted Draper, "Hello professor, what's up?" and took a sit. He wondered for what they were going to use those jars. Hmm.

Expecto-Penguin 02-17-2016 09:41 PM

This slytherin was much for early morning lessons. The night before he was up all night just because he couldn't fall asleep. Luckily he woke up around 8am to find out there was a Care of Magical Creatures class. He might as well check it out yeah? He managed to get some breakfast, if you count breakfast consisting of sugary cereals. He was still trying to wake up and rubbed his eyes making his way down to the lesson. Bloody merlin it was cold out here. He forgot his gloves in his dorm. He knew he was forgetting something.

He bundled up his coat and cuddled his scarf closer to his neck. This wind chill was not cool. Pun intended. As he made his way to the front of the class, he saw the Professor and he just nodded to him. He didn't want to move his hands out of his pockets. He wondered where they were gonna learn with the jars.

And.... That's the official start!

SPOILER!!: Individual Greetings!

"Goooooood morning, Professor!" BEAMY BEAM. What a time to be alive. Was he excited? What was going to go in the jars? Would it be lake water? Would it be lake CREATURES? Would he notice if she borrowed one for flower keeping reasons? Why had he said they need to bring their wits? Would they have to tell witty jokes? Did he like puns? Did he know any good puns? 'Cause she didn't know any good puns. Could they have a lesson on that instead? In an effort to keep from EXPLODING from all the questions, Norah crossed her legs and rested her chin on her palm as she set herself up to give Professor Draper a good stare. You never knew what you could tell by just staring. Whoever pretended it was rude was just missing out on all the fun.

James stood around waiting, checking his watch every few seconds. Had he been too hopeful in thinking Hogwarts students would be capable of following directions properly? Must he take them by the hand and actively lead them to class next time? Every time he managed to give any of them the slightest benefit of the doubt, they disappointed.

However, he was most disappointed in the blue house. Weren’t they supposed to be the first at lessons every single time? With that thought in mind, it was surprising to see that the first arrival was not of the blue variation. She was yellow. And with a badge, too.

After having spoken with the Head Child, James was starting to think they just gave badges to anyone these days. Though, arriving first did earn this peppy one a few points in his book. Congrats. ”… Good morning, Miss Kittridge,” the extra syllables were completely unnecessary and would therefore not be repeated in his own greeting. She had too much pep in her step. He didn’t like it. And the staring was strange. Not unsettling, but strange.

She was tempted to take out a book, but for now she’d just wait. At least she had a good vantage point for arrivals. She could hope that nobody annoying chose to sit by her.

The second arrival showed up only seconds after the first, again not a blue. Interesting. This one, however, was a complete different turn in demeanor. The difference between Brooklyn and Norah was that Brooklyn was fairly easy to tolerate, whilst Norah took much more patience. Either way, the Slytherin was appreciated.

”Miss Andrews,” he nodded in response. It would be nice to have a class full of Brooklyn-types, however, he knew better than to get his hopes up. This was Hogwarts.

He looked as smug as ever, no doubt loving how miserable the children were. Why the man ever became a teacher is beyond her. Though whether or not he was a teacher and not some insidious creature like that Hag, feeding off the misery of children was still up for debate in her mind. "Drapes," she muttered in greeting. She said it distinctly as if it were one of those curses she had been muttering just out of earshot. Haddie found a seat, and as usual, couldn't help herself. "Planning on leaving anyone else frozen stiff today? You know, like you have in the past?"

The first arrival from the blue house, it seemed. The only color they were missing was red.

...And this is exactly why he didn’t get his hopes up.

The permanent smug expression he wore on his face didn’t falter as she grumpily greeted him. However, he did raise his brows ever-so-slightly. He almost preferred Peppy Prefect over there. ”Watch your tongue, Denaker. That’s three points from Ravenclaw.” Additionally, he did not care at all to figure out what she was referring to. Oh and she was automatically starting at strike two.

Seriously, maybe this man wanted to make the students suffered hypothermia and died frozen.... Great! Professor Draper." Ava greeted that man. "What a nice and lovely weather, Professor. I even can't feel my fingers now."

Sarcastic enough, huh?

And a red. The had finished the set now, yeah?

James was almost pleased to see participation across all the houses, however the snide comment from this one took away any sign of pleasantness from his face. "It is lovely," he nodded with absolutely no hint of sarcasm. James loved this kind of weather. Though lovely wasn't a word that often graced his tongue. However, "Watch your tone, Miss Burton. Two points," which he was obviously taking away, not rewarding.

As he arrived, he saw the Professor and forced himself to say a hello. "Hello Professor" he greeted before turning around and he of course spotted Norah and she was staring at.....wait...she wasn't staring at him but at the Professor.

Ah, this next arrival was one all too familiar to James. The Head Child had arrived. James wore an extra warm smile just for him. So that he didn't tap into breaking that sensitive heart again. How thoughtful. James ought to get an award for this. "Hello Yoongi," he watched curiously as the Gryffindor made his way to sit over with ah. Did the badges collect together? Is that how it worked these days?

And yes, he noticed the frustration on the boys face. It was amusing.

Katherine secretly readied her best condescending smile for the moment Professor reprimanded the girl and sat at the other side of Yoongi.

Little Katherine Moss, always prepared. James had been keeping a close eye on this one ever since her little office visit. A child afraid of dogs wasn't one well fit for Care of Magical Creatures. However, she proved to have a lot of resilience and she earned respect for that.

He gave her a small nod, watching as she went to choose her seat. Careful in even seat selection. This little girl was of a complete different variety.

The beauty of switching up the lesson venue was getting to see the bright red faces of those who hadn't prepared by checking the noticeboards. It was also a great way of teaching them a lesson. Sometimes it takes running to class one time in order to stress the importance of preparation.

"Good morning, Mr. Leonard," he gave the boy the smallest-hint-of-a-smile. Despite the slightly red face, the enthusiasm from this one was appreciated. He was starting to think he'd have a full class of drama queens by the time everyone had arrived. These rare yellow-house kids were nice to have in small doses.

"Morning, Professor Draper," she greeted with a small grin as she passed the man on her way to selecting a seat on the bench in the first row.

Now what was it there would be doing today?

Despite having learned most names by now, James didn't much more about most of his students. Aside from how terrible they were at , that is. However, there were the select few that had made an effort to visit during office hours.

Which is how he knew the next arrival. "Miss Lynch," he let a small smile slip as she walked by. She was one of the good ones. Always prepared. Never complained. Always willing.

Interesting.

Were they going to be harvesting something today???

Perhaps they were on a lucky streak here? Hopefully this continued because there needed to be an offset with the amount of younger students they had. The older ones tended to be much more respectful. Which is why he appreciated Zeke Browne. Kid was respectful as long as he was respected back. More of them ought to take a page out of Zeke's book.

"Good Morning, Mr. Browne," he nodded.

"Morning," she greeted to him too, hoping he wouldn't be intimidated by her because of her badge. "I'm Tia."

James much preferred Tia over her counterpart. She was much less dramatic. "Morning," he nodded in return, noting that she chose to sit by a younger student. Yes, definitely liked her more than the Hyland kid.

She cast a curious glance at the jars before turning her attention to the persons that had arrived.

... Merlin, drama queens. Every. Single. One. Of. Them.

He gave her a look before nodding, "Good morning, Rachel," and watched as she went to take a seat. He did hear her response to Ms. Denaker and despite being right, if the other Ravenclaw wanted to assume it had been done intentionally... Then James wasn't about to clear the air. Let her think it was intentional. It was more amusing that way.

A non-angsty Ravenclaw was refreshing. Which is exactly why he liked this one. Giving her a slight nod as she made her way over, he watched as she made her way to a spot on the bench. He liked the quiet ones.

Too cold to even acknowledge his friends, Jace took a seat by himself upfront, and waited for the others to arrive. “’choo!” Eh...oops?

This one was a dwarf. But a respectful dwarf. A respectful dwarf who preferred to greet people in foreign languages, it seemed. There wasn't really a problem with that. He was sure Nana did it too in her head.

James nodded at the boy, "Nice scarf," hopefully it wasn't on too tight, yeah?

When he told his dad his dilemma of not being able to bring his tea anywhere, he was sent a 'travel mug'. Which was strange since it didn't look like a mug. There was a handle, yes but it wasn't ceramic nor did it have fun designs on it, such as a real mug did. It was silver and black, and probably made out of some metal. Austin wasn't sure. But, it carried his tea just the same, and he was grateful for this muggle thing.

He tried to mumble a pleasant "Good Morning Professor" before he sat on a bench.

Ah, another one who looked like he had just rolled out of bed. James was wondering how many of those he'd get. "Good morning, Austin," he replied the greeting in a strong voice to contrast with the kid's own mumbling. "If you think you'll fall asleep, I suggest jogging in place." Falling asleep would not be tolerated. Fyi.

"Mornin' Prof" The Gryffindor greeted the other man behind a muffled scarf as he took his seat on a bench.

The hiking up of scarves was highly unnecessary in James' opinion, but he decided to refrain from commenting on it. Maybe it was a new trend, though James thought it was nothing but a dramatic display. The muffled greeting was... interesting and the boy received a firm nod in return.

The Hufflepuff was COLD, and extra cold today, since she had just gotten over a small bout of the flu and hadn't fully bounced back yet. Thanks a lot, Florida. Apparently even in the warm, sunny skies of Disneyworld, you could still get a really nasty winter cold. So she'd worn a few extra layers to compensate, all topped off with her Hufflepuff scarf and matching gloves.

Why did professors always want to have classes OUTSIDE?

Ah, yellow. They were good in moderation and for now it seemed there weren't an overwhelming amount of them. So this one could stay. He'd allow for it.

Though her lack of a greeting didn't go unnoticed.

Another yellow, joy. They weren't overcapacity yet, were they? He'd have to count. For now, she could stay as well.... He supposed.

Another one who looked like he was on the brink of hibernation. Didn't these kids sleep? 9 am was hardly even early. Seeing as the Slytherin wasn't up for a voiced greeting, James wouldn't return with one either. Simply a nod.

Glancing down at his watch, he waited until the last few seconds ticked by. Right when the small hand hit the nine, he walked over so that he was now directly in front of the benches, leaving the table with empty jars behind. Not waiting another minute--as he wanted them to have as much time as they could for the lesson--he addressed the class as a whole. "Good morning, I hope everyone is wide awake today." Looking at you, Mr. Moore.

"As you can tell, it's slightly chilly out," yes, he said slightly. No need to be dramatic, people. It wasn't snowing, the lake wasn't frozen, and there was a bit of sun peeking through. It could've been worse. And they ought to know to wear layers. However, "If you have a problem with the cold, feel free to cast or ask an older student to help you cast an insulating charm on your clothes. A hot-air charm and jogging in place will also do the trick, so I don't want to hear any complaints."

He paused briefly to allow them to do any of the above. He was curious to see if any would opt for jogging. It was the easiest fix, James' personal favorite. It'd wake them up as well. Work twice the magic without using any magic at all. A good skill to have.

"We're going to start off nice and easy. I expect everyone to participate." Meaning he didn't want anyone trying to take a nap. That wouldn't be happening on his watch. "As you have hopefully noticed by now," he used the world 'hopefully' because there was always one unobservant kid in the bunch. Though surprisingly, they were normally the ones that buried their heads in textbooks all year. "There are many different species local to Hogwarts grounds. I want everyone to think of and name at least one creature you can encounter around these parts."

See? Not hard. It wasn't an answer they needed to look in the textbook for either. James didn't care much for textbooks. This class was all about experience. That's how he fell in love with the subject, anyways. Besides, they had to have exposed to some Hogwarts' creatures before, yes?

As he waited for hands to start shooting up, he pulled the chalkboard closer so that he could begin taking note of answers.

OOC: Eeeee first of all, thank you all so much for joining in! I'm so giddy right now asdf <3

+ Anyways, as Professor Draper just announced this is the OFFICIAL START of the lesson! So we'd advise you not to post any arrivals after this point! Just pretend you've been around the whole time, we won't know the difference ;)

+ We won't move on for at least another 12 hours

Colt saw the Professor nod back at him and didn't expect anything less. At least he didn't call him out for being polite. In all honesty, he wasn't much of a morning person. Being polite was the last thing on his mind. As he was trying to keep himself warm by bouncing on the balls of his feet, he heard the dude ask a question. Hmm seemed pretty vague and easy to him. He liked it! He thought of which creatures would he encounter around these parts. He thought about it and bloody merlin he had to raise his hand in the bloody cold? Dude so not cool.

He got his hands out of his pocket and raised his hand. He would make his answer quick. "You could encounter Thestrals professor. I heard there is a whole herd you are keeping around these parts." Now back to keeping his hands warm. He could cast the warming spell but that required effort.

keepmeclose22 02-17-2016 10:08 PM

Austin's face went red when his tiredness was pointed out. He wasn't going to fall asleep, he had his tea with him. Just because he wanted to be back in his warm dorm, didn't mean he was going to try to sleep here. Beds were better for sleeping. Benches were hard and meant for sitting. He learned, early on he might add, that professors were not happy when you fell asleep in their class. "Don't worry professor, won't happen today." He took a sip of his tea, hoping that would suffice.

After a few other students trickled in, and others were complaining about the cold, the professor started. It's not that cold. He thought. Although he had opted for a longer sleeved shirt and a scarf today. It may not be very cold, but he wasn't going to risk getting sick. He took another sip of his tea as he thought about the creatures he had seen. There was talk of spiders, especially a few years ago, and centaurs had been around then too. Although he had never seen these himself. What he had seen in his time at Hogwarts was the squid that lived in the lake. Well, not so much the squid itself, but a few tentacles had managed to pop out here and there.

The teen raised his hand and waited to be called for before saying anything. He was already on the spot. "Isn't there a squid that lives in the lake?" He gave a nod to the one they were all sitting around. "I've seen it's tentacles from time to time."

One of Dante's favorite professor's right here. Along side Hirsch that is because mind games were fun. It was not that cold so Dante did not care what Draper was talking about at this point. Would the houses fit into the species because ravenclaws were weird just like slytherins and then there were hufflepuffs and gryffindors.

But nah, this was Draper he would not even get a kick out of that. But if he said Flamsteed was the creature. Would the response be different. Who knows he was not going to do it.

"Merpeople. One of the many awesome beings and things underneath the Lake"

Did he have to explain further. Only an idiot would not know about them and trying to their language sounds exhausting.

Azura looked at the Professor as he spoke about how to warm up! Jogging? Yeah she would be lucky to get two steps into that activity before she fell right over! She sound stick with her layers and bundling into her cloak! Thank you!

She was almost tempted to not answer the question! After all, the reason for her sitting in the back was to escape Jace's notice! But this was education! And she was a Ravenclaw! She HAD to answer the question!

So one of her mittened hands went into the air as she answered.

The Giant Squid lives in the lake!" or it supposedly did!

Right?

Hady sent several friends a small smile as they walked past her or sat close by on the bench. A select few may have even gotten a wave or her signature grin if they were paying attention.

At exactly nine the lesson began with Professor Draper moving to stand before them all. When told they could cast a heating charm or get up and jog of keep warm she nearly laughed. No need for none of that right now, thank you. She was more then warm enough even without all the millions of layers some of her fellow mates had on.

"Grindylows sir," the female snakette answered only after raising her hand, hazel eyes flicking towards the lake for a brief second.

He was like 99% sure that it was okay to sit next to Norah and because class was going to start soon he decided to sit down. He took out his writing material and looked up again when Katherine sat next to him on the bench. “Hi Katherine” he greeted her with a small smile before he went to search his bag for his quill. The one he had almost crushed while having spoken to this very own professor teaching this class. The feather was still a bit broken… His fault!

Another familiar voice called his name again and this time he looked at Marsha. She got a smile as well as a wave as the younger Gryffindor sat next to the younger Ravenclaw on the bench. Just when he found his quill , Professor Jerkface started the lesson.

He would of course help out any younger students with performing the hot air charm on them if they asked him. His eyes went to Katherine next to him for a second before thinking of an answer to the Jerkface’s question. “Acromantulas” he said after raising his hand in the air. It was the first creature that popped in to his mind.

At the moment, Jaemin didn't feel rather wide awake... but that was because he liked sleeping when he was sick, and this class was severely interfering with that. However, he liked this class, so he would fight to stay as awake as humanly possible. The sniffly child peered at the professor over his scarf, listening intently as the man asked his question and then as his fellow students started listing off animals they had either seen or knew were around.

The idea of acromantulas made him twitchy, and he wrinkled his nose in the Head Boy's direction. He'd heard about the things that had happened in previous years, of course, but ew giant spiders. No thank you.

"Do they have to be magical creatures?" he murmured, pulling his scarf down to talk and putting a hand up to answer. "Cause there's a huuuuuuge pike in the lake, I think. It bodyslammed the common room window and now it keeps swimming by it every so often."

If not that... he tilted his head thoughtfully.

"Do centaurs count? They're in the forest, right?" But centaurs were weird, cause they were... sorta creatures but not really creatures. They talked and stuff. Had conversations. They were like humans, except not.

RandomRaven 02-17-2016 11:31 PM

Two points from Gryffindor? Alright, no big deal.

And maybe she had to do the jogging in her place. Right.. Gathering her long brunette hair into a ponytail and started doing the jogging on her place. Hop hop hop... How long she had to do this by the way? One minute? Five minutes? The entire class? Well, let's just do it for five minutes and... Done. Thank Goodness that she didn't have asthma.

Now the class had started, Ava went back to her seat and listened to the cold heartless creature man. "There are centaurs living in the forbidden forest." The young lioness said. "Last term it taught them how to be a centaur it it was quiet... interesting. The class, I mean." Cue sarcastic comment.

Kitty winced as the Professor took away points from Ravenclaw for something that Haddie said. At least it was only three points. She raised her hand as the professor asked what creatures lived in the area. " Thestrals! I never see them but I know they pull the carriages back forth to Hogwarts so they must live on the ground somewhere."

While the others answered his question she pulled her small hand mirror out and examined herself to make certain that her scarf hadn't messed up her Gothic complexion or hair. Her hair was a little messed up, but thankfully the pale make up hadn't been smeared. Satisfied, she snapped the mirror shut and refocused on the lesson.

Jojogali 02-18-2016 01:16 AM

Answer here for the professor!

Elsa watched silently as the professor commenced the lesson. She nodded and took notes when appropriate. Creatures that lived inside Hogwarts' grounds.. that wasn't hard. Mermaids for starters, but another student had already said that. There were Thedestrals as well, though she could not see them. The Giant Squid was also an obvious option, the beast took great pleasure in flauting it's tentacles outside the great lake. She squinted at her notes in concentration, trying to remember a creature that she knew lived on those grounds, but it was hard seeing has herself, being a first year, didn't dare to enter the Forbidden Forest so her knowledge was limited to those listed on Hogwarts a History.

Automatically her hand started doodling on the top of her notes, drawing what was now her favorite animal to draw, a snake. That made her remember something "Professor, I know it doesn't count as local, but I think I read on Hogwarts a History that once a Basilisk habited the castle. Is it true?" she asked, raising her hand before speaking "oh, I also believe Grindylows habit the Great Lake Sir" Yes, that was a proper answer.

Tia frowned momentarily when two students - Haddie being one and the only one who mattered to her at present - lost points for their tone. Draper was definitely serious, but not that it bothered her. It just meant that he knew his information, most likely and they could actually learn. If they let him teach them.

She did grin when he started off the lesson with some light humor on the weather not being terrible and that there were 'fixes' to the cold. The cold wasn't bothering her as much as some of her classmates because she had worn layers and dressed appropriately without overdoing it either. Not to mention casting a hot-air charm and insulation charm the moment she exited the castle and realized just how cold it was. Amazing what magic could do for you; she would be more than willing do the same for one of her younger classmates if they wanted.

Question time though. Creatures that lived on the grounds. She was about to say acromantulas, but then her counterpart beat her to it. So instead she thought of other creatures that might not have been mentioned; most of peers were going for creatures that lived in the lake, but Draper hadn't specified just the lake even though its where they were located. There were MANY creatures that lived in the forest. "Unicorns, sir. In the Forest, there's been known to be Unicorns that take residence there." Tia said upon raising her hand. Not that she's ever been in the Forest personally to see one, sadly.

The professor was moving from the place where he'd stood at attention since Ariadne got here, so she took that as a sign that he was getting started. She shifted herself around on the bench and face him. Sure enough, she was right. He soon launched into a discussion on the slightly cold weather, which Ariadne pretty much took as an invitation to get up and move around. She could jog in place? Okay, then! SURE!

*jog jog jog jog jog*

Ariadne began jogging in place as she listened to the rest of the discussion. She was one of those over-excited, can't-sit-still first years, and this was really right up her alley. She wasn't even cold. THANKS, PROFESSOR! Still steadily jogging in place and feeling like a hamster at the wheel, Ariadne began thinking of a creature she could find here at Hogwarts. "Merpeople!" she excitedly said, pausing for a split second to raise her hand. Those things were SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS scary!

Noelle's first, second year COMC class since she'd been back. Luckily, she took notice of the board before going to class or she would have gone start to where they usually held it. Instead, Noelle was bundled up and headed down to the lake.

Once down there, she noticed the set up and looked around for a place to sit. She had been sitting towards the middle of classes lately because she wasn't confident enough to sit up at front, and sitting at the back made her feel like she wasn't serious about class. Which she was. It had almost been all she had done since she had come back.

This class was packed though. Noelle took a random seat available and pulled out her parchment and quill. She was ready.

Noelle studied the new professor with curiousity as he started. Snarky little bugger. Noelle approved. She'd come prepared for the cold. No need to be dramatic about it. Okay so animals.

Noelle jotted down the answers other students were given. Then she raised her had while still writing. "I heard nifflers were in the barn." Did that count?

"Morning," she greeted to him too, hoping he wouldn't be intimidated by her because of her badge. "I'm Tia."

Hmmm ... no Unicorns. Yet. Carl however, did see a Ravenclaw taking a seat next to him. "Hello, Tia!" Oooh, she was a badge person. A Head badge person too. "I am Carl." He said with a grin. Then, he turned his attention to Professor Draper as he spoke. No, he did not have a problem with the cold. He was wearing layers along with his winter cloak, so he was quite warm.

He raised his hand and when he was called, answered, "I heard there are Fairies here." Though he had not encountered one before. Were they as cute as they were imagined in the Muggle World?

And Tia mentioned Unicorns. He already liked her a lot.

"G-good morning, Professor,'' she greeted with a slight shiver as she drew her Ravenclaw scarf around her a little more. "I hope you're well.'' She cast a curious glance at the jars before turning her attention to the persons that had arrived.

She smiled at Hady, Carl, Katherine, Tia and Ava on her way to Haddie. Her poor best friend looked so miserable that the girl just wanted to bundle her up with more layers of warm clothing. Unfortunately, this could not be done. "Oh, Haddie. Professor Drapes, I mean Draper would no do that intentionally.'' Rachel had confidence in her Professors.

Haddie looked her friend up and down as if she was trying to decide if Rachel was being serious or not. She paused long enough to return Kitty's wave, and then returned to scrutinizing her Bestie. "Oh no, no. You know, because it's not important to make sure that all the students you've ordered back to the castle for their safety, can, you know, actually, physically do so. As long as you make the show of it, right?" Holy crud, as much as she loved Rachel, the girl could be way too trusting for her own good. Which was why Rachel went to the Hag's class in the first place.

Oh, and there was the Child Hater himself, warning her off smugly. Oh there was no doubt in her mind he did it purposely. He was too smug about it. Haddie folded her arms over her chest and glared at him. She knew it would only make him smugger, but she couldn't help it. She hated the man with a passion. He set a totally different standard for himself than he did everyone else. It was infuriating.

"Or what?" Haddie asked. "You'll leave me a frozen statue for the Hag to pick off at her leisure? Oh, wait. You did that already." No one ever accused Haddie of being smart. Well, the Sorting Hat did, but the Sorting Hat was, in fact, a magical moron, so...

"Mermaids." Her voice was dripping even more with loathing and snark, even though she was legitimately participating. "Or the Hag in the woods." Well, semi-legitimately.

As Professor Draper started the lesson, Esme busied herself by rubbing her hands together in order to keep warm. Despite wearing gloves some of the cold was seeping in. Maybe the hot air charm would work wonders but for the moment she would stick it out with what she had. Besides the practical part of the lesson should help since it would require them to get up and move about.

For now she was happy talking about creatures since she were incredibly interested in them.

When they were asked to list a creature that they could find around the school grounds it was no surprise that one in particular occurred to her right off the bat. "Unicorns!" she called out excitedly as soon as her hand was in the air. If they ended up doing another lesson on them, Esme would be REALLY happy.

BanaBatGirl 02-18-2016 03:10 AM

"Speaking of hags...." David piped up, his hand NATURALLY already in the air, "hags are a creature you can encounter around these parts."

He drew a long, sloooooooooooooooooooow look from the back of Haddie's head to the professor's face. "I hear hags can be quite ♥ ♥ ♥ LOVE ♥ ♥ ♥ ly if you look at 'em right."

Just saying. Not a rumor. Just an observation Davie had had. AND WHY DID his first-year enemy ALWAYS HAVE TO STEAL HIS ANSWERS?! CoMC was HIS CLASS. As were all the others, but shh.

lemon 02-18-2016 03:58 AM

Creatures? Oh, there were tons, and Dima could name quite a few. He just.... didn't feel like it. Laziness was a thing, and the sixth year didn't find this question important enough to throw a hand up. He much preferred listening to his fellow classmates and trying not to fall asleep.

Although with more talk about the Hag, that was pretty unlikely.

Watching the professor, he remained silent.

TeafortheSoul 02-18-2016 04:06 AM

omg I missed posting so muuuch

...... wait, ,there was a hag? An actual child-eating hag? Char looked around in confusion, eyes settling on her bestie. Did HE know about the hag? She would totally be asking him about the hag after class. HAD ANYONE BEEN EATEN? DID THEIR PARENTS KNOW THERE WAS A HAG? WHY WAS IT OKAY THAT THERE WAS A HAG????

Also, she stuck her hand up, "Snails!" Yep. They were creatures. He hadn't said MAGICAL so they counted totally! But oh... oh that reminded her of her dead snails and Char sucked her bottom lip in, expression brave.

SHE WOULD NOT CRY ABOUT HER LOST SNABIES (SNAIL BABIES) TODAY!

Cassirin 02-18-2016 04:21 AM

Dot wasn't cold, because she excelled at layering and also because she knew how to cast warming charms. Instead, she leaned against the nearest Dima and admired her fingernails as her classmates listed creatures. They were being repetitive and going for the most obvious examples.

Except for that other Charlotte, who was on about snails again.

"Bowtruckles, sir, and they'll scratch out your eyes if you get too close to their wand trees." And Dot liked her eyes, thanks. They were helpful for seeing.
