Post 2 Sparkling blue-green eyes scope out the black lake, his feet treading slowly along the shore. Then he paused, looked to the left and then to the right and decided "Yup, this looks like a good place." he nodded as he staked his fishing spot. He opened the jar and grabbed his wand, intent on filling it with water. He paused suddenly though, a thought bubbled up see: If they were going to catch some flying fishies and would be keeping them alive, wouldn’t be best to actually keep them in something that would remind them a bit of their home? And although a jar is hardly anything like the deepness of the Black Lake, it can certainly contain some of the Black Lake innit? So there he goes, dipping the jar and filling it with lake water. Sure beats messing with the water charm. |
Main #1 Bella was ready to get started, but she had this feeling that this wasn't going to be easy. Even if she managed to do the spell correctly there was no telling if she would be able to catch anything. The odds were already stacked against her. Once Professor Draper was finish giving them instructions, Bella walked over to the table to grab one of the many jars. She then looked out over the Black Lake for a good spot to catch some flying seahorses. It took a few minutes before she finally selected a spot, close to the edge, but not to close that she would get to wet. She put her jar down so that she could fill it with some water. |
Post 3 So lake water jar on standby and his wand at the ready, its time to fish! Or rather to seahorse. To flying seahorse! Tenacius lifted his wand and did the whip flick "Carpe Retractum!" ..... Wait was he actually aiming for something or was he just testing it out over the waters? He couldn’t be sure himself. Which would explain why theres a necktie now wrapped around his wrist. "AAH!" he screamed. "SNAKE!!!" and flung it with such force at the ground, then started stomping on it with all his might. If any Slytherin was missing a tie, rest assured that its been sufficiently dealt with by this Gryffindor. |
Main #2 "Aguamenti!" Bella said, pointing her wand over the opening of the jar. A jet stream of water poured out of the tip of her wand and into the jar. She waited until the jar was a little over half full before she canceled the spell. She wasn't entirely sure how much water needed to be in the jar, but it was find for now. If she needed more later she could add some more. When she was ready to start, she took a moment to recited the incantation in her head once more and did the motion with her wand, just to get a feel for both of them together. It felt simple enough, but she still didn't think she would actually catch anything, but that wouldn’t stop her from giving it her all. “Here goes nothing.” She shifted her body into a better position, before trying her first attempt with the Seize and Pull Charm. |
post #4: attempting a second time ^_^ The spell worked; orange light shot from her wand like it was supposed to. Only problem was, as she suspected might happen, at the end of her invisible fishing line was some seaweed and other lake particles. Though perhaps it would be alright in making the jar of water seem more at home to the seahorse - once she finally caught one. Focus, Tia, focus. After securely putting the lake particles into the water jar, the seventh year set her sights on the seahorse capture again. Carpe retractum, she thought again, flicking her wand in the whip-like motion. The familiar orange light emitted from her wand tip... but unlike before, she felt something heavier on the other end tugging her towards the lake. Holding her feet firmly to the ground - if first years didn't get pulled in she shouldn't either - the head girl gave her wand a little pull backwards . . . |
Post 7! Main activity, mentions of Elsa.. Azura out! Ouch... Ouch.. Ouchhhh.. Thankfully it hadn't been a big rock really, just a smaller one covered in seaweed. She could feel her cheek start to throb and sting and she felt a little dizzy from the impact, but really she was all right!! She hadn't fallen over again! So that was a step! Perhaps her balance was getting better? "Elsa!! It's okay! I'm okay!" She said with a shake of her head.. "No! Please don't call the Professor!! I'm all right!" She groaned out as she tried to say she was all right to the Professor! Any more of these incidents in class and she knew she would be put on some sort of list that the Professors had of problem children! She was sure of it! "I don't need to go to the hospital wing! It's just a cut on my cheek." She said with a sigh as she turned back towards the water. "Let's just get our seahorses and go okay?" The last thing she needed was The Professor She turned back to the water and flicked her wand in a whip like motion, trying to put everything out of her mind as she called out "Carpe Retractum! Yes!!!! She had hit something!! For the love of the Fwoopers let it not be another rock or more seaweed!! She tugged on her wand again as she tried to get whatever it was to come to her and finally! Something came hurdling through the air! IT WAS A SEAHORSEEEEEEE!!!! YESSSSSSS!!! She gave a squeal as she caught the rather cute little thing and put in in her jar and then hurried towards the table. She carefully wrote out her label. Quote:

End of the activity! SPOILER!!: Azura & Elsa ... What now? James turned his attention towards the two girls, a look of concern etching it's way onto his face. Or at least a little bit. Yeah, so he cared. Sue him. But then it looked like they had it under control.... Alrighty then. Kids were always dramatic. SPOILER!!: Janelle Of course there was always the one. There always seemed to be, it was hardly a surprise anymore. "Unfortunately they don't like to be domesticated," well, unfortunately for her anyways. So no they couldn't keep them. James had good places for them to go. Most would be relocated, some would be given to Professor Potions. Nothing too bad. James gave all those who had already finished a small nod as they said their goodbyes. He noted how many jars had already started piling up. Good. That meant things were a success for the most part. And with one last glance at his watch, he raised his voice again so that the whole class could hear. "Alright, it's time to pack your things and head to your next class," he really felt sorry for the kids who had Herbology next. Poncho Paul must be a pain to sit through. "You all did a great job today, don't be discouraged if you were unsuccessful. And remember to put your jars by the table." Hopefully they learned something new, yeah? Oh yeah and uh, see you next lesson. Or something like that. OOC: Thank y'all so much for making my first experience with teaching a lesson such a positive one. I had a BLAST and I hope y'all enjoyed it as well ^^ I still can't believe so many of you came <3 Makes my heart fluuuutter! + This post marks the END of both activities! + Aaaannnnddd I'll leave this thread open for 2-4 more hours if you want to post leaving, but please don't make anymore activity posts And again thank you so much for coming to play with us!! |
That was a wrap. She had done her trying and participated in the activity to the best of her ability in the time they had been given. So now Olivia was ready to move on. Maybe she’d be trying it a little bit more on her own but that came later. She gathered up her jar and placed it on the table before she proceeded to label it as directed. Quote:

Janelle couldn't help but be disappointed when the professor said that keeping the seahorses was not an option. She had figured that was the case, but was hoping anyway. "Professor? Will you please find my seahorse a nice home? I don't think he was meant for potions." Janelle envisioned her little flying seahorse finding a home in some new lake. That was the thought she'd hold onto anyway. "Thanks Professor. See you next time. Bye my little seahorse." Janelle went and gathered her things and started her trek back to the castle. |

And after making sure all the students were gone, he did a lap or two around the area to make sure none of their belongings were left behind before beginning the move of items back to behind the barn. |
