Sparkling blue-green eyes scope out the black lake, his feet treading slowly along the shore. Then he paused, looked to the left and then to the right and decided "Yup, this looks like a good place." he nodded as he staked his fishing spot.

He opened the jar and grabbed his wand, intent on filling it with water. He paused suddenly though, a thought bubbled up see: If they were going to catch some flying fishies and would be keeping them alive, wouldn’t be best to actually keep them in something that would remind them a bit of their home? And although a jar is hardly anything like the deepness of the Black Lake, it can certainly contain some of the Black Lake innit?

So there he goes, dipping the jar and filling it with lake water.

Sure beats messing with the water charm.

Bella was ready to get started, but she had this feeling that this wasn't going to be easy. Even if she managed to do the spell correctly there was no telling if she would be able to catch anything. The odds were already stacked against her. Once Professor Draper was finish giving them instructions, Bella walked over to the table to grab one of the many jars.

She then looked out over the Black Lake for a good spot to catch some flying seahorses. It took a few minutes before she finally selected a spot, close to the edge, but not to close that she would get to wet. She put her jar down so that she could fill it with some water.

So lake water jar on standby and his wand at the ready, its time to fish! Or rather to seahorse. To flying seahorse!

Tenacius lifted his wand and did the whip flick "Carpe Retractum!"

..... Wait was he actually aiming for something or was he just testing it out over the waters?

He couldn’t be sure himself. Which would explain why theres a necktie now wrapped around his wrist.

"AAH!" he screamed. "SNAKE!!!" and flung it with such force at the ground, then started stomping on it with all his might.

If any Slytherin was missing a tie, rest assured that its been sufficiently dealt with by this Gryffindor.

"Aguamenti!" Bella said, pointing her wand over the opening of the jar. A jet stream of water poured out of the tip of her wand and into the jar. She waited until the jar was a little over half full before she canceled the spell. She wasn't entirely sure how much water needed to be in the jar, but it was find for now. If she needed more later she could add some more.

When she was ready to start, she took a moment to recited the incantation in her head once more and did the motion with her wand, just to get a feel for both of them together. It felt simple enough, but she still didn't think she would actually catch anything, but that wouldn’t stop her from giving it her all.

“Here goes nothing.” She shifted her body into a better position, before trying her first attempt with the Seize and Pull Charm.

The spell worked; orange light shot from her wand like it was supposed to. Only problem was, as she suspected might happen, at the end of her invisible fishing line was some seaweed and other lake particles. Though perhaps it would be alright in making the jar of water seem more at home to the seahorse - once she finally caught one.

Focus, Tia, focus.

After securely putting the lake particles into the water jar, the seventh year set her sights on the seahorse capture again. Carpe retractum, she thought again, flicking her wand in the whip-like motion.

The familiar orange light emitted from her wand tip... but unlike before, she felt something heavier on the other end tugging her towards the lake. Holding her feet firmly to the ground - if first years didn't get pulled in she shouldn't either - the head girl gave her wand a little pull backwards . . .

Post 7! Main activity, mentions of Elsa.. Azura out!

Ouch... Ouch.. Ouchhhh..

Thankfully it hadn't been a big rock really, just a smaller one covered in seaweed. She could feel her cheek start to throb and sting and she felt a little dizzy from the impact, but really she was all right!! She hadn't fallen over again! So that was a step! Perhaps her balance was getting better?

"Elsa!! It's okay! I'm okay!" She said with a shake of her head.. "No! Please don't call the Professor!! I'm all right!" She groaned out as she tried to say she was all right to the Professor! Any more of these incidents in class and she knew she would be put on some sort of list that the Professors had of problem children! She was sure of it!

"I don't need to go to the hospital wing! It's just a cut on my cheek." She said with a sigh as she turned back towards the water. "Let's just get our seahorses and go okay?" The last thing she needed was The Professor Or Jace seeing what she had done to herself!

She turned back to the water and flicked her wand in a whip like motion, trying to put everything out of her mind as she called out "Carpe Retractum! Yes!!!! She had hit something!! For the love of the Fwoopers let it not be another rock or more seaweed!!

She tugged on her wand again as she tried to get whatever it was to come to her and finally! Something came hurdling through the air!

IT WAS A SEAHORSEEEEEEE!!!! YESSSSSSS!!!

She gave a squeal as she caught the rather cute little thing and put in in her jar and then hurried towards the table.

She carefully wrote out her label.

Why was the ground so hard? She groaned softly as she collided with the shore, thankfully, she didn't land on her face, she had sort of fallen over to the side a bit.. and landed on her side..

She winced as Elsa helped her up and then she turned to look at Jace! who had also gotten attacked by the seaweed ball!

It was her first instinct to rush over and help him out, but Elsa had gotten there first! She sighed softly as she brushed her hand over her face, smudging the seaweed mark even more. "Thanks Elsa." She said with a warm smile, "And it's all right." She was fine, Jace was fine.. everyone was fine right? Except for the fact that Jace wasn't REALLY talking to her.. and she still hadn't managed to cast a spell yet.

"Are you all right?" She asked Jace, being smothered by seaweed couldn't have been to fun. She then turned back to the lake and attempted her spell again! "Carpe Retractum! This time the golden light flicked out across the lake and Azura had caught something!!

A flying seahorse??

She tugged more on her wand, it didn't seem to want to come to her!!

She gave one last final tug before a smallrock with strings of seaweed hanging from it came flying at her!! EEEKKKKK!!!!

Thankfully she turned her face just in time for it to miss her nose and hit her cheek and then fall to the ground..

OWWWW..

This was not her day.

Elsa gazed around once more, the class was almost over now, a few of her classmates had been able to pull a Flying Seahorse with success, others had the same luck as she did...OH NO! Oh Merlin, Azura was a menace to herself, she just pulled a rock straight into her face.

Elsa ran towards her friend "Az are you ok?!" she had just been hit by a rock, straight in the face, of course she wasn't! Elsa got a hold of her chin and carefully turned her face to the side. The rock had made cut on her cheek and it was now bleeding. Oh buggers!

She waved her wand quickly emptying her jar, that still rested near the lake, and collecting her things. She then conjured some tissues and gave them to Azura to help stop the bleeding.

"Professor, Azura got hit in the face with a rock!!" she exclaimed, surely the professor would be able to help, if not, they would probably have to go to the Hospital Wing. Or she could perform Episkey on her if she allowed it.

... What now?

James turned his attention towards the two girls, a look of concern etching it's way onto his face. Or at least a little bit. Yeah, so he cared. Sue him. But then it looked like they had it under control....

Alrighty then.

Kids were always dramatic.

SPOILER!!: Janelle

OK, it was going to happen this time. If it was possible to will something to happen, Janelle was going to give it everything she had. "One more time", she said to herself. Closing her eyes, she concentrated as hard as she possibly could........without getting a headache. Visualizing every step of the process, Janelle was sure that she could be successful this time. She had improved on every try and this was going to be the one.

Winding up like a muggle baseball pitcher, Janelle launched into the whipping action with her wand. "Carpe Retractum!" She watched as her rope of light formed once again and stretched out, landing in the lake. After a few moments, Janelle thought she felt a tug. Hoping she seized the right thing this time, she gave her wand a pull. As the rope began to return to her, she held her breath. And then..........she had done it. A flying seahorse was coming her way. Holding tight to the jar, she positioned it so that the seahorse landed safely in the water. With joy and tremendous relief, Janelle inspected her catch. "Thank you little seahorse, for letting me catch you." Now that Janelle had succeeded, she hoped that her little seahorse would not end up in some potion.

Janelle heard the professor announce that they could leave once they had caught a seahorse. She grabbed a label and wrote her name on it. Then she placed the label on her jar. Janelle was reluctant to leave her seahorse. After all, it had taken a lot of hard work to catch him. That and the fact that she was unsure about his future. Nontheless, she walked over and placed her jar on the table as instructed. Then she had a second thought. "Professor, I don't suppose we could keep them?" Janelle didn't know what kind of pets seahorses made, but she wouldn't mind trying.

Of course there was always the one. There always seemed to be, it was hardly a surprise anymore. "Unfortunately they don't like to be domesticated," well, unfortunately for her anyways. So no they couldn't keep them. James had good places for them to go. Most would be relocated, some would be given to Professor Potions. Nothing too bad.

******

James gave all those who had already finished a small nod as they said their goodbyes. He noted how many jars had already started piling up. Good. That meant things were a success for the most part.

And with one last glance at his watch, he raised his voice again so that the whole class could hear. "Alright, it's time to pack your things and head to your next class," he really felt sorry for the kids who had Herbology next. Poncho Paul must be a pain to sit through. "You all did a great job today, don't be discouraged if you were unsuccessful. And remember to put your jars by the table." Hopefully they learned something new, yeah?

Oh yeah and uh, see you next lesson. Or something like that.

OOC: Thank y'all so much for making my first experience with teaching a lesson such a positive one. I had a BLAST and I hope y'all enjoyed it as well ^^ I still can't believe so many of you came <3 Makes my heart fluuuutter!

+ This post marks the END of both activities!
+ Aaaannnnddd I'll leave this thread open for 2-4 more hours if you want to post leaving, but please don't make anymore activity posts

And again thank you so much for coming to play with us!!

That was a wrap. She had done her trying and participated in the activity to the best of her ability in the time they had been given. So now Olivia was ready to move on. Maybe she’d be trying it a little bit more on her own but that came later. She gathered up her jar and placed it on the table before she proceeded to label it as directed.

Janelle couldn't help but be disappointed when the professor said that keeping the seahorses was not an option. She had figured that was the case, but was hoping anyway. "Professor? Will you please find my seahorse a nice home? I don't think he was meant for potions." Janelle envisioned her little flying seahorse finding a home in some new lake. That was the thought she'd hold onto anyway.

"Thanks Professor. See you next time. Bye my little seahorse." Janelle went and gathered her things and started her trek back to the castle.

James began organizing the jars whilst his students packed up. It was a decent time. Not too terrible. Not incredibly taxing. He'd consider it a mild success. Turning to hear a student say goodbye as she headed away from the lake, James turned just in time to chime in with a "Same to you, Miss Stone."

.... Right. "I'll see what I can do," he did say he'd relocate some of them. So he could try to make sure hers was included in that batch. Though that required a lot of thought. Eh. Maybe.

And after making sure all the students were gone, he did a lap or two around the area to make sure none of their belongings were left behind before beginning the move of items back to behind the barn.
