| | Clock Tower Entrance The Clock Tower Entrance is one of the three main entrances of Hogwarts Castle. The massive steel and iron pendulum of the Clock Mechanism swings slowly over this Entrance. The pendulum seems to have an imprint of a many armed star on it, if one looks closely at it with what appears to be runic symbols on the outer rim of the pendulum bob. The Entrance can be sealed with a portcullis and the massive double doors can be locked with numerous bolts.

The thing with trying to dechiper something that was moving, was that it was difficult unless you could stop it. The thing with the pendulum was that it was much too heavy to stop. So, that left one with a rather inconvienced state of trying to read the runes on the pendulum, every time it swung past a certain point.
Of course each pass was an opportunity to read the runes, but given the whole moving concept even getting just one rune right was a challenge.
This, was a challenge. There was no doubt about it. But Amur was determined to succeed at said challenge. She had found a rune book in the library and brought it down with a notebook. Her quill was poised in her hand, ink was dribbling down her wrist and her eyes were fixed on the spot where the pendulum passed. Waiting, seeking to get another rune down on the page properly.
So far, she had one and a half. Only who knew how many dozens more to go. But she was determined.

What on earth was she doing?
That was the first question that Yoongi had after he had entered the clock tower entrance through the short cut portrait hole. He had been standing a few paces away from her, watching with a raised eyebrow. Although he couldn't see the notebook, the movements she made with her arm suggested that she was writing every now and then but her gaze seemed to be on the pendulum the whole time as she wrote. "Is the pendulum that hypnotic?" he finally asked, breaking the silence as he stood next to her. Not looking at the pendulum himself but at her. Resisting the urge to wave his hand in front of her face.

Resisting the urge to wave his hand in front of her face. She didn't hear Yoongi come up beside her, nor did she notice that he was there. But the way which he spoke into the silent-throbbing of the pendulum motion was so simple that it didn't startle her. In fact, it didn't even warrant a glance towards him. Mostly because she almost had the next rune and if she just stared long and hard enough she was likely to get it!
Visual acknowledgements would have to wait.
Verbal ones, however, didn't demand that much attention. "Isn't that the point of pendulums? To be hypnotic?" She was pretty sure it was. Except this pendulum was different. A pendulum didn't need runes to be hypnotizing and as far as she knew no one in Hogwarts had fallen victim to such a thing yet. Her eyes narrowed.
Almost. There. "I'm trying to figure out what it says." In case he wanted to know, which apparently he did. Otherwise he wouldn't be standing right there.

| A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself. "it is?" Yoongi asked as he looked away from her and looked at the pendulum swinging from left to right as well, he could see the runes on it but it looked like doodles to him.He had even dropped the subject because he simply did not get it and the kind of work he wanted to do didn't require an anient runes newt. Funny how it was the subject he had dropped was where he met Norah.
A stupid, goofy smile played on his face as he thought of her before he shook his head. Not now Yoongi. Not now. The Gryffindor looked up at the pendulum again, if it hadn't been for Amur he would have walked past it and never had noticed the symbols. "I always thought this one was a big useless part of a clock that wanted to hit you on the head" huh, guess not.
He waited as Amur did her thing, somehow he didn't want to distract her. That was until she spoke again and said what he wanted to ask. Woah. "eeh... And you can ...read that?" he asked

Hogwarts RPG Name: Amur Neverwinter Fourth Year | ~ Rise and Rise Again, Until Lambs become Lions ~ "I think so." Which, she was slowly beginning to learn didn't equal knowing so. Many things that she had thought, weren't exactly fact. So, she was going to be careful as to what she said. "Some of them anyways." And provide a bit more clarification where it was warranted.
Her brow furrowed as she leaned forward, catching the glimpse she needed. A small sound of victory left her as she completed the half-formed rune on her page. "Would imagine they would have put it in the middle of the hallway if that was the------"
Her words caught out as her gaze went up to finally acknowledge the boy who had stopped to talk to her. The Head boy. The one she had tossed a dumpling at.
All at once, Amur wanted to hide beneath her notebook. That, or try and convince Yoongi to stare at the pendulum so long that she could sneak away. But there was no avoiding it. He was here. He'd seen her. He'd talked to her. Despite the dumpling.
That, was slightly confusing.
Was he going to hex her when she wasn't looking? But...she'd already not been looking. Amur's brow furrowed even more.
Her gaze slipped down to her page at his question and she hesitated before shaking her head. "I can't read it. I can only copy. Then I'll go to the library, or a Professor, to help with the translation."
Her gaze went back up to the boy, snagging on the badge. "Unless you know how to read runes?" Was that a decent peace offering? Asking to work together on something? Combine resources and intelligence? He had to be intelligent to be Head Boy, didn't he?

| A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself. “……Case” he said, finishing the sentence for her. This made him frown. He didn’t know Amur very well but he was pretty sure she didn’t often forget what she wanted to say in the middle of a sentence. And at first, Yoongi thought it was because she was too focused on the runes on the pendulum. But then he remembered that she had been looking directly at him. “….Are my handsome features that breath-taking that you forgot what you wanted to say?” He grinned a little but he knew that that wasn’t it and he changed his expression to concern. “Are you alright though? You look tense”
He watched her as her gaze slipped back to the page and he looked at the runes written on it as well. “Me?” he laughed. “I wouldn’t have dropped the class if I could” he said, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. Dropping the subject had been the best thing he had done in his opinion. He had wanted to drop potions as well but the university he wanted to go to, required a passing grade.“Sorry, I can’t help you with translating but i can help with finding the right book in the library?"

Amur's concern, or 'tense nature' as the boy called it, instantly slipped away for a mixture of surprise, horror and disdain. Truth, there was some color that instantly hit her cheeks at Yoongi's self-absorbed comment. Truth, she wasn't exactly sure why said heat was there. It was the frustrating repeat of Zeke and his wet shirt down at the lake. And she hated it.
Whether it was an immediate response to such an internal dilemma, or simply a need to make her surprise look like something else, Amur threw her previously convicted caution to the wind. "I think you need another dumpling to the face."
Too bad the first hadn't hit. Might have helped knock the boy down a peg or two. And that was all she was going to say on any topic of feast, Head Boy or apology.
At least, that was what she thought, until Yoongi talked about dumping a class. Turning slightly, Amur peered up at him incredulously. "Badge's are allowed to drop classes?" Yes, there was a lot of skepticism seething from her, because it just didn't make sense. Badgers were supposed to be role models on all manner of things. Dropping out was not being a role model. At least, not in the bubble of a world she'd grown up in. Who knew, maybe that was wrong thinking too.
Though, he was proving he deserved it in one respect. Namely offering to help her even after the fact of the food fight. Amur chewed on that for a moment before nodding. "I could use a hand. Don't know the library very well." That was, if he was still willing to help after her most recent comments.

Woah wait! Was she blushing?!
Yoongi grinned in satisfaction. He had only been joking but seeing her reaction had been priceless and he tried to not laugh out loud. The grin was wiped off his face however when she suddenly and of nowhere blurted out that he needed another dumpling to the face. He looked hurt for a second but then crossed his arms over each other. "Another?" he repeated. "Oh please you couldn't even hit me the last time" oh no, he had not forgotten about that. But although he did kept grudges, he wasn't one to go out and take revenge. That was below him. "And concider yourself lucky that i can't take away points. Because i would have done so right now" yes, from his own House.
He sighed as he unfolded his arms and put his hands inside of his jeans pocket. Apparently, Amur did not know about the class rules. Why should she though? She was only a fourth year. "Anyone can drop a subject as long as it is an additional one." he said. "Everyone needs at least two additional subjects together with the core ones. As i had four additional subject and i already had a nervous breakdown during my fifth year..." he remembered yelling at Zander for talking to him when he had been studying at the library for his OWLs and nearly fainted in Charms. "....i decided to drop one" and it happened to be Ancient Runes.
She didn't know the library well? Ok now Yoongi did laugh. Not to make fun of her but because he could relate. "That makes two of us but i guess two pair of eyes is better when searching for a book" especially a runes book.

It was weird. The feeling she got when the hurt look passed over Yoongi's face. On the one hand, it served him right! On the other, Amur Neverwinter was not one who enjoyed or even took pride in hurting people. No matter the way. So, it was a bit of a confusing mess for the fourth year. Almost as confusing as to why she had been blushing.
Needless to say, by the time the kid was done talking about points and giving off a completely superior air, that heat in her cheeks was most certainly not due to any sort of embarrassment. "Oh you would would you? Is that supposed to make me afraid of you? Or even respect you?"
If he was wondering, it didn't and she was loosing said respect. The badge only went so far. The face behind it was also important. As were the words that came from said face.
Tilting her head up, Amur eyed the kid. "You might have a nice face," no she wasn't going to admit it right out, "but you could use a bit of humility." And no, she wasn't quite aware that this might have been a pure case of the pot calling the kettle black. "I could totally take you."
Nope. No she really couldn't. But she wasn't about to let some badge-man get away with talking to her as he was. Granted, she had sort of started it with the insult, but it had been meant to help pull him down a peg. Clearly, he walked with his head in the clouds and forgot where his feet were half the time.
Except that, he was constantly proving her wrong and a bit hot-headed. Here he was, again taking the time to explain to her about the classes. Even offering to help her find a book. Amur shifted uncomfortably, glanced at the pendulum, at her book and then the open spot on the floor. With a huff of air, she patted the ground in an invitation to have him sit rather than loom over her. "What caused the breakdown?" Priorities. She did want to know that she was partnering up with a semi-stable person before making any sort of agreements.
