The door to the charms room is wide open, but as you walk in you will notice that there are not desks, no seats, no professor. Just a big empty room with many glass cabinets around the walls. What could possibly be going on and where would Professor Primeaux be that he wasn't there. As you stand and wait you might notice that there are enough glass cabinets for every student in the school, one right on top of the other.
As the last person comes into the room the door shuts and a voice echos the room. It seems Professor Primeaux had the room charmed to record and play his own voice. "Good morning students. As you might have noticed the room is empty and I have decided not to formally attend at the moment. After the things I have seen from the students here at Hogwarts I've decided you need a test on how much you want to learn and succeed. My job is to teach you, but I can only teach students that want to try and work hard. Your first test directions are on the board in the front of the room."
Writing appears on the board with the direction for the students first activity.

First years I know this is your first lesson in charms so this will be your biggest test. Your fellow students that are older then you especially your student leaders are there to help you, be good role models for you, and show you what a leader and a classmate really is. They should be helping you with the spell if you need it, so do not hesitate to ask. Do not be afraid to fail, it will only help you learn and become better.

OOC: Hello everyone! Just as Julien said he has given your charrie a test right away! What you need to do is have your character do the steps and you can say whether they are doing well or not. Please be realistic about your students age and ability. If they don't make it through that is alright, that is what makes the RP fun everyone being different. You can work alone or with partners. I will be posted quoting your post once you have RP'd the steps (each step should be a post, so four post at the minimum) with the number code and the entrance into the next step. Have fun and any questions please let me know. Julien might not physically be there, but he would never leave a group of students unsupervised fully. If you have not made yourself and your charrie aware of his rules, please do so here.
Just to Clarify!
Some of you have messaged me today so I wanted to ease your concerns!
1. Breath there is no deadline at the moment. I'm going with the flow of the Rp's right now. If I need to put a time I will give you a 24 hour notice maybe longer!
2. Work at your own pace!PLEASE don't get overwhelmed by the post count. I have not posted any directions other than right here! So read here and go have fun! I don't want anyone missing out because they see seven + pages and think they are too far behind. YOU ARE NOT!! I promise!
2. No, not every student is expected to know these spells like above it is okay to play a first year failing, or any Charrie really. At the end everyone will be allowed into the last area!
3. Thank you for having fun! I'm so enjoying reading these so far.
There comes a time where things do need to wrap up! I would like to move on Tuesday, January 12. So I will be closing room 1 and 2 at that point. You will have until Tuesday at 3 p.m. EST to finish up on any of your post! Once these are closed it will be said that door have opened for your character to just go straight to the classroom! Remember it is okay if your character did not get all the way through!!

Okay breathe there, Stone. Focus on getting there.
Olivia looked over at the four numbers that were presented to her. 8, 5, 4, 5. Simple enough. The Ravenclaw left her spot at the wall and crossed to the given door to the next room. All she had to do now was speak her set. “Eight…five…four…five,” she remarked clearly, the result…the ease of passage into the room on the other side. Time to try and satisfy her curiosity, even for a little while, the first year stepping through.

When he glanced down at his textbook again, Cornelius realized he had been using the incorrect wand movement. OOPS. Probably needs to nail that in order to get the charm to work.
With new focus and resolution, Cornelius puckered his lips in concentration, bushy brows furrowed together. And GO.
"Alohomora!" He waved his wand (real wand) and focused on intent, just like Aunt Astrid had told him many times. Perks of having family in the educational field, you knew LOTS of stuff. Downsides: they expected MORE of you than the ordinary.
Whatever. The door clicked open, that was all that matter. Snatching the box close to his chest, he shut the door and pointed his wand at it once more. "Collocoportus!"
O________________o
Wait....that doesn't sound right...
Dot twirled her wand and considered the box before her. Once she opened it and got her number, she'd be done in here and could move on to the next room. That seemed pretty interesting, but if all those who knew how to do the spell moved on... who'd stay behind to help the ickles?
Hufflepuffs, probabaly.
She tucked her wand into her pocket and leaned over to tap Cornelius on the shoulder. "It isn't loco, boy-o. It's just Coll-o-port-us. Good job getting that first spell right, though. It's not easy." She'd done her duty AND helped someone who could pass on the spell to the other ickles.
Bella was super excited when she read her number. 3, 4, 3, 4. It was her ticket into the next room and she couldn't wait to see what they had to do next. She still needed to practice the two spell, wondering if she'd need to use them again in the next room. She walked over to the entrance to the next room. "Three, four, three, four," she recited. When the door opened she stepped through.
"Right?" David had to agree with Callum. This was exactly how he felt about aguamenti, the first spell HE had successfully independently cast. And did Callum see how fun learning was?! David was glad he'd taken such a risk for him and actually left the classroom to find Callum. It had been well worth-it, because now his BFF's brother was becoming a Charms star. How swell. Anywho.
The second-year opened his little box and gave the numbers a glance, then closed the thing back up again and put it in his pocket. This was why he almost-always wore cargo pants or cargo shorts or the cargo pants that zipped off into cargo shorts. One couldn't beat the pockets! Even more pockets than a robe ordinarily had! Time to move on with the cabinet though, and then he could examine the box in more detail.
Clearing his throat importantly, and imagining himself as though he were his own dad teaching a class, David gestured toward the cabinet door for the next spell. "The incantation cull-low-PORE-tus makes me think of doors, lots and lots of doors slamming shut. Sometimes I just picture locking a door shut, like with a big key, or with a deadbolt." Sometimes he got to lock the door at the cottage at night with this spell. But never in the manor, no, they had elves for that. "So colloportus locks doors, and you just--- you kind of seal the door as you do the incantation. Watch me?"
He again slowly did the wand movement, then tapped the cabinet door, stating, "Colloportus!" confidently as he did so. With a knowing smile toward Callum, David checked that the door was shut by pulling on it, and to his pride, it didn't pull open again. Whew. Alright. So far, Professor Truebridge the youngest hadn't messed up any.
Colloportus. Right. Yes. The locking charm. Cull-low-PORE-tus, he thought to himself as Davie explained. Cull-low-pore-tus, cull-low-pore-tus, cull-low-pore-tus...
Callum nodded along with Davie's description. He liked the bit about picturing himself locking a door shut with a deadbolt in particular, and he envisioned himself doing that, and then envisioned himself doing it without touching it but waving his wand instead to do it. It felt a bit more complex than Alohomora had been, and Callum watched very seriously as Davie demonstrated locking his cabinet. The Ravenclaw made it look incredibly simple, so the Gryffindor hoped it was that simple.
"Got it," he responded with a confident nod, reviewing the incantation in his mind one more time before seamlessly following Davie's wand movement and trying, "Colloportus!"
Smiling, Callum tugged on the cabinet door and-- oh. It... slid back open.
He shut it at once, firmly denying his mistake, and he cleared his throat purposefully. It was fine. He just needed to want it more, did he not? He tried to tell himself that and psyched himself back up to try again. He briskly stretched his neck from one side to the other, then gave his shoulders a roll before raising his wand toward his cabinet once his box was out of the way. "I can do this." He focused harder this time, his eyes squinting slightly, but he also tried to relax his posture. He took a deep, cleansing breath, waved his wand just like Davie had, and cast with determination, "Colloportus!"
Tugging on the cabinet door again, this time it would not budge, and Callum heaved a sigh of relief. "Thank Merlin." He took his box in his hands once more and peeked inside, then looked at Davie's, too, and smiled. "Looks like we are all set." He could only imagine what was in store for them next.
Julien not far away saw everything that was going on and soon a patronous came into the room and stood in front of the second year. The same voice that was heard at the beginning of class was heard again, " Leaving is not something I would like you to do, but if you are leaving you need to turn left and count down two doors. Please come into that room. I would like to have a word." With that the patronous was gone.
Added to the list of Things Daxton Had Not Been Expecting But Would Start Expecting In The Future was the enormous silvery thing that came through the door (literally, through the door) and right at him. At first, distracted by his surprise, Daxton did not recognise it as a patronus and immediately tensed up, bringing up his fists, ready to fight and claw his way to safety, but after a moment or two the realisation dawned. What animal was that? A bull? The silvery substance it was composed of made it difficult to discern features or specific form at first. No, it was... a buffalo. Well, no matter; bovine creatures were not exactly Daxton's specialty. In any case, it was communicating with him, and that was probably the most significant point of interest, rather than identifying its genus. He listened.
When it was done talking, Daxton paused to make sure it really had gone, then simply continued his way out of the room. None of his actions were ever based on or swayed by what someone else preferred him to do, so naturally he was still leaving. There was no reason not to see the professor, though, and Daxton was curious to see what the man would have to say to him, so that was precisely where he was going.

"To lock it back up, you'll use Colloportus. The wand movement is like this..." Thornton drew the shape in the air with his wand much more slowly than one would cast, having learned from the previous attempt.
While Charms was easily Thornton's best subject, teaching it clearly was not. But he was certainly going to try. "Watch.."
And with a precise wand movement and a clearly spoken incantation, Thornton had locked the cabinet.
Ariadne lowered her box but still kept it close by her side. She'd worked HARD for it, after all! She was only on the first two steps in the whole process of whatever it was they were doing, though. Even the Ravenclaw prefect had kind of moved on while he was waiting for her. Yeah. She should really see what the next step in the process was.
"Colloportus," she repeated. "Got it." Then there was a demonstration, which was SUPER helpful, and of course Thornton got it on the first try. She'd hung on to every word and every move of the demonstration this time. She had her own, personal Ravenclaw helping her! Could she GET any luckier?! "Okay..." She had this. Shifting the box to her left hand, she gripped her wand tightly in her right hand.
"COLLOPORTUS!" she called out, enthusiasm and intent and all the good things hopefully showing in her words. She'd also remembered the wand movement this time, which she thought she managed to do just as Thornton had taught her. it helped that she was starting to remember locking and unlocking charms from when she was homeschooled by her mom.
There was another clicking sound, and as the cabinet re-locked, Ariadne's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "WHOA. I wasn't expecting that!" she exclaimed. They were ON A ROLL now!!! "What do we do next?!" she asked with excitement. Weren't there other students moving on? Could THEY move on, too?!

Pouting. He was pouting. He can't get the next step done, and Jace was mildly panicking now, seeing that one by one, the students were disappearing from the room and into the next.
Jace turned, and quickly looked up at the older girl whom he recognized as the Head Girl! The Ravenclaw tipped his head in greeting and pointed at the cabinet before him. "Could you please help me lock it, Tiamarie-san?" the half-Japanese blushed, obviously embarrassed because he's supposed to be good at this thing. He's a Ravenclaw, after all!

Robin looked around nervously. She was near the door, in case she needed to make a run for it. So many of the students were very...tall. She gulped until she saw a boy who looked her age. He seemed to be glancing at an older girl. She stood next to him and looked toward the direction he was glancing, obviously copying her movements. Smart move, she had no idea what she was doing. How was she supposed to take this test when she had no idea how magic even worked yet? She copied the boy's movements "Alahamora!"
Was it her imagination or did it jiggle a bit? But...still locked. SHe looked nervously at the boy next to her. "Do you know...how to do, um, well, any of this? I'm lost"
Huh what? Jaemin skittered sideways half a step at the voice, blinking in surprise. When had she appeared?! He really needed to pay more attention to those around him...
"...I'm eleven." He stated this as if it should somehow be taken as the appropriate answer to her question; he was eleven, and therefore this was his first class. He had absolutely no idea what he was doing, no. Jaemin shuffled closer to a few of the older students as they worked, leaning in a bit when he spotted the girl prefect from his own house so he could watch her do the thing.
The spells kept getting yelled around him as students worked on their own cabinets, and Jay felt his ears go red when he realised why his hadn't listened to him about opening. He was saying the thing wrong Merlin this was so embarrassing!!!! He silently scooted himself back over to his own cabinet and looked at the girl again.
"I don't think I said it quite right the first time..." The boy squeezed his wand in his tiny fist and stared stalwartly at the cabinet again. "Alohomora... Aaaaaloooooohoooooomoooooorrrrrraaaaaaa...."
He tested the spell out a few more times, mouth carefully forming it as closely as possible to those around him; when he'd settled into it a bit, and felt more at ease with how it was said, he pointed his wand at the cabinet. This time for sure. It had to work. Otherwise they'd probably put him back in the boats and send him across the lake to the train again, and he really wanted to check out the greenhouses before it came to that.
With a swish and a flick, the boy tried his best to enunciate...
"Alohomora."
...and after a very loooooooong moment, the door made an unlocking clicky sound. If he could have, he probably would have hugged it. Instead, he hugged the stranger girl next to him. "I did it!"

Not wanting to waste time in anticipation, Esme got straight to opening the box.
Inside she saw four numbers. She beamed. Of course she hadn't been expecting anything else, but it was still nice to see them. She had passed the first test - even though it had been easy. Not bad. Not bad at all.
Eight... Four... Three... Two...
Esme repeated the numbers a few times in her head to ensure that she didn't enter the code incorrectly. That would be rather embarrassing. Fortunately they were simple enough, so she only needed to go over them a few times before she felt confident enough to head over to the door.
Norah shut the cabinet with a satisfying bang, looking around with an apologetic smile just in case the sound had bothered anybody. It was hard to remember sometimes that not everybody took so much joy from loud noises. They were missing out, but there wasn't much to be done about that. With the little box still in her other hand, she aimed her wand and cast, "Colloportus!" with a firm movement of her wand. A little tentative just in case her newfound confidence was a ginormous fluke (as it usually was, in the rare event that confidence decided to assert itself) she reached out and tugged lightly on the cabinet door. Nothing. She tugged a little harder. Still nothing. It was a MIRACLE. It was probably awfully pathetic that she thought so, especially 'cause even the firsties seemed to be getting on fine, and EVEN the firsties who hadn't stuck around class in the first place (eyes on you, baby Kettleburn. What a lil' nugget). At least she was taller than most of them. And that wasn't something she could say about most people. For now.
With that hurdle out of the way, Norah twirled her wand between her fingers, promptly dropped it, and swooped down to pick it up. Nobody saw that, right? Right. Time for some more unlocking 'n all that. Cool beans.

Next step was to lock the cabinet. Again, this was pretty easy. It sort of made Kaycee wonder if things would get progressively harder. Maybe he was sorting them into skill levels? That would be... normal. Strangely normal.
She pointed her wand at the cabinet lock and firmly said. "Colloportus". She gently tugged on the door of the cabinet after hearing a faint click. She just wanted to make sure it was actually locked again.
She then held the box out in front of her. Last step.

Chloe thought the glowing numbers were a tad overkill but who was she to comment on theatrics? Professors loved them here.
She made quick work of relocking up her box once she was done with it and spoke the numbers she was given-- 4, 6, 7, 3-- out loud. Before passing into the next room.
Ariadne lowered her box but still kept it close by her side. She'd worked HARD for it, after all! She was only on the first two steps in the whole process of whatever it was they were doing, though. It seemed like his new first year friend was getting the hang of this, which Thornton found encouraging. He did take a quick glance around the room to see if anyone needed obvious help, but most had managed to pair up with someone who knew what they were doing.
"That was really good," he said as she locked the cabinet. "Really." But what was next... oh, right. Thornton looked at the box in his hand and then over at the box in hers. Now all that was left was to open the box and get the code.
"Alohomora again," he said, in response to her question. "Just this time, on the little box." He glanced at her again, pondering. "If you're worried about your aim, I'd put the box on the floor..."
For his own part, Thornton held his box in his left, hand, brandishing his wand with the right.
"Alohomora!"

David sort of startled as she saw, out of the corner of his eye, what looked like a patronus suddenly come floating into the room. He stopped watching Callum for a moment to study this new creature of sorts, which had to belong to the professor, since it was now talking to Daxton.
Daxton Daxton Daxton Prince. What could he say about the goblin-boy that someone else hadn't already observed? It seemed he hadn't changed much since last term, and with a small, judgy shake of his head at his dormmate, David resumed his camaraderie with Callum.

Everyone else seemed content and settled at the moment, including itty bitty Cornelius, so Dot turned her attention back to the box. Locked boxes were exciting. They could hold anything at all in the world, while an open box only ever held whatever it was you saw inside. There could be a treasure in here. A ghost. A secret. A story.
No, there was a piece of paper, which was a shame because it ruined the excitement of having a locked box. A piece of paper with NUMBERS on it, which was even more of a shame. Dot poked her wand at the sealed box, intent on the spell as she cast it. Maybe non-verbal this time? She hadn't really tried that much yet, but it was something they were meant to start working on this year. Plus she'd already opened a thing once this class period.
UMMM. She shaped the incantation out silently, feeling her way along the word with her mind instead of with her mouth. It felt awkward, and she kept thinking about other things half way through. The professor. The ickles. Where was Kyroh and was he wearing the tie she'd made him? OH, right! Alohomora. Alohomora. She felt her wand pulse, and the box popped open.
Numbers. There's only some numbers inside her box.
6, 7, 5, 4
She's a little bit disappointed when she saw there's only a bunch of numbers inside her box. She's hoping there's another surprise in there somewhere but she's wrong. Sigh. Well, its time to moving on to the next room.

Ariadne grinned widely. "You think so?" she asked. AWESOME. She'd pretty much nailed her first charm ever, and it was all thanks to her own, personal Ravenclaw! If this boy could just show up in ALL of her classes, that'd be perfect. Ohh, the next step was another Alohomora? SHe'd already gotten the hang of that one, so they were pretty much done with this room and ready for the next one!
"Hmm, yeah. I better put this on the floor," she said, looking at her little box. She had nailed her first try at the charm, but it wasn't like she was perfect or anything. She put the box down by her feet and stepped back a little. Ariadne whipped her wand around in that same backwards S motion. "ALOHOMORA!" she called out.
Another clicking sound was heard, and Ariadne's box was open, too!
The numbers glowed 6, 0, 0, 4. After saying the numbers you can now enter the next room.

Callum, too, noticed the strange patronus debacle and followed Davie's gaze over to the happenings with that other Ravenclaw boy. It was weird, but not his business, and Callum was soon smiling cheerfully at Davie's encouragement once more. "Thanks," he replied brightly, nodding in agreement as he went on. "Ready." He had no idea what to expect, but at least if he had Davie on his side, he was pretty sure he would not die, at least. There was always that.
Studying his code, Callum gave a pensive hum. 6, 0, 0, 4. A fairly aesthetically pleasing number code, and that alone made him smile. "Six, zero, zero, four," he spoke aloud to the door, and let out another audible sigh of relief when it opened. Onward they went, then!

6, 5, 4, 3? That was easy enough to remember! Grinning, Scarlett took the numbers that were in her box and headed towards the entrance of the next room. So she just had to speak them, huh? That simple?
She muttered the numbers out loud and CLICK - the door opened and she was on to the next room!

A disembodied voice in a strangely furnished room was not at the top of the list of things Lex would have expected on his first day of class. Nonetheless, he took his wand in hand and approached a cabinet. He pointed it at the lock and took a breath.
"Aloha-mora." The wand merely let out a flowery, pink spark. He frowned, slowly working out the incantation in a whisper. After a few moments of this, he pointed his wand again.
"Alohomora." There was a small flash, and the lock clicked. Lex smiled and pulled the cabinet door open, reaching for the box inside. He repeated the spell on the box, opening the lid and reading the numbers inside. He grinned confidently and shut the box.
"Colliportus!" Nothing happened. Lex frowned.
"Colliportus!" Still nothing.
Lex groaned and sank to the floor, holding the box in his lap, repeating the spell without effect. He eventually stopped, sitting still with his back to the cabinet, wiping a frustrated tear from his cheek.
Oliver read the numbers over and over and wondered if everyone else's was the same? "6-0-0-4?" He looked around and thought maybe someone else would have said something in regards to his numbers. Nope.
Onto the next room it is, then. Grabbing his things and bringing the box and slip of paper with him, Ollie headed off to the next part of their lesson.

Still waiting for the Head Girl’s response, Jace got distracted when he saw a boy, now sitting on the floor trying his best not to cry...or was already crying? The 11 year old recognized him instantly, since they do share a common room, but failed to introduce himself...or get to know his fellow Claw. It isn’t too late to rectify the situation, right?
Giving Tia a quick glance, the half-Japanese tugged on her sleeve and headed towards the disgruntled boy. Lowering himself, Jace kneeled in front of him and smiled at him warmly. He didn’t want to startle him, and upset his fellow Ravenclaw more. With a slight bow of his head, Jace went on to introduce himself. “Hello.” He started giving the boy a small wave. “I’m Jace. Do you need help? We can...figure it out together if you want.” He said hoping the boy would say yes. He didn’t want to be stuck in the room...and he was sure that his fellow Ravenclaw felt the same way.
Merlin, being a first year is hard!

Ava then picked the parchment and saw the glowing numbers... 8,8,8,9. Well, weren't these good numbers? Like a muggle lottery number... Hehehe. And now, what should she do? Oh! This was the code for entering the next room. Silly silly.... The young lioness then walked to the entrance for the next room. "8, 8, 8 and 9."
What would she see at the next room? Hmm...
