Beside the Restricted lays what from now on and onwards will be called the 'Career Advice Section' since Mr Kitridge changed out the room plaque for a shiny new one and made some changes. The circular room still has its nicely furnished book cases, a few comfy blue and green sofas, reading lamps, side tables and a few plants. The plants don't need much water but if someone were to give them a few water drops now and then they'll be ever so happy since Mr Kitridge tends to forget to water them.
The bookshelves and tables are stocked with up to date books, pamphlets, magazines and folders for all magical careers/professions known to exists in the wizarding world today from shopkeepers to caretakers to night bus drivers. Each new year the room is restocked with fresh information and new for this year is that there is also information and application forms to all universities. Since a few years back the room also has a few writing desks complete with writing material which anyone is free to use.
Come on in, grab a magazine or folder and dream about what you want to work with when you graduate from Hogwarts or start on that short story you always wanted to write.
Any questions or concerns should be run by Mr Kitridge!

Slowly, this was going to become his absolute favourite part of the library. Roo was pages deep in an edition of "This Month, Every Year" and was enthralled seeing all the changes in Ministry officials and Professors and every influential person in the universe. AND WHAT HAPPENED EACH YEAR. See, even this magazine thought that Hogwarts was vying for attention with their happenings. "A few miles short of a theatrical masterpiece and a car crash panto." He whispered, reading over things from the years his Mama had been there.
He'd just wanted to know who he could write to and ask for tips on being successful in the Ministry.

Honestly.
Was it too much to ask?
Perhaps it was too early to be thinking on her career. Some persons may think this but not Rachel. She had heard that there was a Career Advice section in the library but hadn't the chance to explore it as yet. Today, however, the first year found herself there. She expected to see many older students there and smiled when she saw a Housemate. She didn't think he was much older than her. He was certainly not a fifth or seventh year.
"Hello, there.'' Rachel was still smiling. "I hope I'm not disturbing you.'' She began looking through pamphlets on Herbology careers. Yes, she wanted to be an explorer; she wanted to discover mundane and magical plants but that didn't mean she couldn't look through the information on other career options that involved Herbology.

With his focus on the next page, Rooney was intoxicated with obsession for everything that had happened in this month in previous years. There was always so much happening everywhere that he couldn't possibly have known everything going on in history, but after reading this...he was sure he'd be able to dazzle someone with his knowledge of past years and the people around for them. Maybe he'd see a mention of someone he knew. One of his Professors? A name? Maybe, maybe.
His attention was disturbed by someone walking into the area and Roo looked up from his mag. "Hi!" Someone else had clearly had the same idea as he. To discover the best of their abilities and a future vocation. "No, no. I was just reading." He smiled softly and then looked to what the girl had in her hand. Ah. Herbology.

"Plant fan?"
Goodness, there was so many information on Herbology related careers. Rachel was feel a bit overwhelmed. Her hands were filled as she clutched as much of the printed information as she could and the girl was about to go read the them somewhere unoccupied so as to not disturb this boy but he was already responding to her.
She smiled at him. He did not seem the least bothered that she had interrupted him. "Yes, I am. I plan to do something Herbology related after Hogwarts. You don't think it is unusual and boring that I'm thinking ahead so early, do you?'' Rachel, for some reason, wanted to know his opinion on the matter. "I don't think we've formally met. I'm Rachel Watson, first year Ravenclaw.'' She looked at his magazine more closely. "Are you enjoying reviewing the happenings of previous years?"

Unusual and boring? Rooney's eyebrow immediately rose and a look of confusion settled onto his features. "I've known my future since I was a toddler..." His response came almost like he was judging the girl, which he wasn't, but it also came in a way that seemed like he thought she was ridiculous for assuming it was boring. That..he did. "It's wise to know. What would happen if you looked into it when you were about to graduate and realise that you don't have the grades? Or you're allergic to something vital in the profession?" Like idiots. [b]"So, definitely not unusual and boring.
He set the closed magazine into his lap and held out a hand for her to shake, and he definitely expected a shake. "I've seen you around. I saw your sorting, actually. Rooney Bronwyn, third year Ravenclaw." And then he followed her gaze down to his reading and smiled. "Oh. Yes. I'm reading up on previous Ministry officials."

That was the aim.
Rachel got her answer to her question immediately when she saw the eyebrow raise and the look of confusion stepped in. It was safe to say she felt relieved. "Oh, I quite agree with you. How horrifying it would be if you didn't know what to do with yourself after completing seven years here. No, I simply asked because individuals of our age, some of them do not even think like we do.'' She giggled slightly. "You sound like a Seer when you said you've known your future. But did you really? Was there someone who influenced you at that age?''
Oh, this boy was so formal. Rachel liked that very much. She set her pamphlets down to return a hearty handshake. "I thought I would have sat with the Hat on forever, it took such a long time to decide.'' A full minute it had taken as it tried to decide between Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. "It's quite lovely to meet you, Rooney. I take it you would like to join the Ministry. Any particular department you would like?''

"I don't remember being influenced. Just...knew what I wanted." It had been as simple as that. One day he'd wanted to cure fatal illnesses and the next..he knew he wanted to act and be politically involved in the world he lived in. "You should really look into Herbology, Miss Rachel. I hear it's a very rewarding profession if it's truly what you want." Actually, he hadn't heard that, but it seemed important to the other Ravenclaw and he wasn't one to break the plans of someone else. Especially for their future and even more so when it didn't involve him. Like Miss Rachel's.
"No specific choice. I want to do some more research into it. I don't know if I'm ready to choose an actual department. I have a lot of things to be doing before that." Like acting and writing and singing and performing. He needed to go to WADA and he needed to go to normal university and everything needed to go exactly how he wanted it to. This was such an important life plan.

Rachel nodded. She knew that for some persons, their professions just clicked. She smiled at him. "Thank you for the encouragement, it's deeply appreciated.'' It always boosted her confidence when she was encouraged to choose a Profession in the field of Herbology. As Rooney said, she wanted to be rewarded and live up to her parents expectations as best as she could.
The first year couldn't help but be impressed by this third year. "You do?'' She looked at a seat at the table and then back at Rooney. "Is it okay if I sit with you for a few minutes? It's not often I get to chat with someone approximately my age and has their future planned in such detail.'' She smiled again. "What other things do you have to accomplish if you don't mind me asking?"
