The vast Hogwarts Library contains tens of thousands of books and hundreds upon hundreds of bookshelves lining the numerous narrow aisles. To prevent students to get lost admist all the different sections Mr Kitridge has put up clear glowing signs to lead them in the right direction and firefly lamps here and there for light. If you inspite of the signs get lost you can always ask the permanent portrait residents for help. Temeritus Shanks and Valeria Myriadd know all the inns and outs of the library almost as good as the resident librarian.
So why not go read up on dragons in the dragonolgy section, look up famous legislators in the legal section or see if you can find the invisibility section? Don't tell Mr Kitridge but word around the halls is that the labyrinth with its many dark corners and aisles is the perfect place to play hide and seek but only if you don't get caught!

Arista hadn't been to the library since her feet had touched the grounds of Hogwarts and she just knew it was time that she go on her adventure to the place with all the books. At home her library was her safe haven so she had fallen in love with the one here. Not to mention there was books, what more could a girl want.
As she walked into the library her eyes instantly caught the eyes of all the aisles. Giving a sigh she whispered "Its good to be back." And with that the redhead started moving throughout the books.

Arista's hand was skimming the books when she heard something behind her. Giving a loud scream she accidentally threw herself onto the book case and latched herself onto it. While looking around the library in fear she saw the girl she met at the Whomping Willow. Giving a sigh of relief she very carefully pulled her grip from the shelfs and gave a small cough. "Sorry about that." How embarrassing.
"Hello there Jesse its nice to see you again." She smiled and walked over to her, but made sure to grab the book she had been looking at. [b]"What brings you to the library?"

Jessie can't hold her giggle "Wooh, easy. It's just me. "
Finally her memory was back. She remembered about the red hair name "Nice to meet you, again Arista. I just exploring Hogwarts again. And now my curiosity lead me here "
Her eyes sprakled when laughing " And how about you? have you found an interesting book already ?"

Mason sighed and slammed the book down.
"Another useless one. . . " she grumbled and looked up at the glowing sign. Well clearly she was looking in the wrong place. "Fantastic!"
It seemed to Mason that there were absolutely no books on legally wiping someone's mind or any tutorials on how to make bloody ghosts disappear.
She ran her fingers across the spines of the books as she walked down the aisles. Was she the only one in here? What if she got lost? Then she would probably die here alone.
Mason let out a frustrated groan and rounded a corner. At first glance, she had almost mistaken the pale figure as a ghost.

"Ermmm," she greeted the girl, "Hello?"
Her long black fingernails graced the bindings of books, her curious green eyes reading title after title, her long black robes brushing the floor gently.
It seemed that Kitty had been here forever, searching through books to find something about the Tapestry. She lost track of time. Had she been here for one hour or five? That was how she became when she immersed herself in solving a mystery. Somewhere in this huge library there had to be something about the mysterious Tapestry in the fourth floor corridor. Somewhere...
Just then a nearby voice distracted her, bringing her back to reality. It was a first year Slytherin student. Had she just said something to Kitty right now?
"Sorry?"Kitty asked, turning to look at the Slytherin.

"Sorry?"Kitty asked, turning to look at the Slytherin.
"I said hello," she told the girl and gestured a waving motion, "As in; Greetings!"
The girl clearly had a thing for black, of that Mason was sure. She was a Ravenclaw and Mason had never seen her before so it was safe to assume that she was an upperclassmen.
"So, umm, anyway," she said and extended her hand, "I'm Mason."
The girl had seemed distracted before, running her fingers across the books, "What are you looking for?"
"Oh..." Kitty blinked, feeling embarrassed of how distracted she had been. "Hello! I'm Kitty Darkness Valentine, but you can call me Kitty for short. It's nice to meet you Mason."She took Mason's hand and shook it.
"I'm looking for information on the Tapestry on the fourth floor corridor. It's a mystery I've been trying to solve for a week now." She dug in her robes and pulled out three newspaper sheets and showed them to Mason.
"I found these inside Hogwarts a History, someone put them there for a book mark. They are from the school news paper and were about stuff that happened a long time ago. In the newspaper it said that three professor's were injured and had to be carried off to the Hospital Wing because of some 'mysterious force' coming from behind the Tapestry. They were okay, but then later one of the students owls was injured and the Care of Magical Creatures guy was almost killed by a red beam of light when he took his class out to look for Mooncalves! Headmistress Loryen said she knew what the attackers wanted, but she couldn't tell anyone!"
"I couldn't find any more information about it, so I came here."She sighed. "So far nothing."
"What were you looking for here? Maybe I can help." She'd been looking through the library for so long that she wanted a break from her mission.

That was a rather odd name, but hell, so was Mason.
What other name would suit this girl? It seemed that the name was perfect for her personality. "Of course it is." she said and smiled.
Her eyes almost bulged out of her head, "WHAT?!!" she exclaimed, she leaned closer to Kitty and whispered, "Are you serious? That sounds awesome! Well not the whole attacking thing, but the other stuff! From behind the Tapestry you say?"
She scanned the newspaper articles that and turned back to Kitty, "You found these in A History?" she asked the girl, "Why would somebody leave something like this in a book?"
"Forget my books!" Mason said, "I was trying to find a spell to kill a ghost or something. But this is way more interesting!"
Mason's reaction to the story was even better than Kitty had hoped for. She was just as excited as she was! It looked like Kitty had found a new partner to help solve this mystery with her.
"I know, right?" Kitty spoke in an excited whisper. "There must have been a passageway behind the Tapestry in the past, but after all that stuff happened they sealed it off. Who knows what's in that secret passageway? If they sealed it off, does that mean that whatever evil creature or person that caused it is still there? After all, why would they need to seal it off if they caught him and everything was safe?" Kitty's mind was working overtime with possibilities.
"You know what?" An idea had just hit her. "What if the reason I can't find any books on the subject is because the teachers are keeping it a secret from us? When I was in detention with Professor Kitridge (he's my head of house and the librarian) I mentioned the Tapestry, but he didn't say whether he knew what caused it or not. Then I asked one of the portraits in History of Magic and he didn't know either." And don't even mention when she had gone to ask the Hag, and the Hag had threatened to EAT her. "What if the book is the restricted section?"

Mason's eyes widened even more, "What if it's like that time when Slytherin's Basilisk petrified people?" she asked the older girl in a excited whisper, "Or do you thinks it's a ghost? Damn, then we really need to find that book on how to kill those bloody gits."
Honestly, Mason was hoping for the first. She had had enough of ghosts for a lifetime, and the Baron would probably go on rat on them if he found them murdering one of his fellow deceased old people.
Mason frowned, "That makes sense. . . why would you block something if it was safe?" she said and shrugged, "Imagine what it is if even the teacher want to keep it hidden. They already hired a disgusting old hag, what would stop them from keeping a dragon or something locked behind a tapestry?"
Mason felt a gin spread across her face, "I was just about to say that!" she whispered and jumped up and down, "And I have the perfect plan on how to get in there. Were going to have to break in."
Well Mason's 'staying out of trouble streak' lasted two days, a new record really. But this was worth it.
"I did consider that it might be a Basilisk. But we probably won't have to worry about a ghost, because ghosts can go through walls so sealing a corridor wouldn't help anything." Kitty had given this a good deal of thought and she was pretty certain it was a basilisk. Mason coming up with the same guess was more proof that she was probably right.
Kitty's eyes widened when Mason suggested breaking into the forbidden section. She had already gotten in trouble with Professor Kitridge once for the food fight. But Mason had also gotten into trouble, and if she was willing to do this for Kitty's mystery, then how could Kitty not be willing to do the same? Besides, if they got caught they could always say that they had just been curious. Someone who loved books ad much as Kitridge would understand, right?

"I'm in" said Kitty. "What is your plan?"
Mason shrugged, "Yeah, I didn't think that far," she said sheepishly. "Ghosts are obviously out then."
She frowned then and muttered, "But I thought Mr. Chosen One killed it? And it's very very very illegal to hatch them, so either somebody has got some serious stones, or they want something. . . But what would they want from Hogwarts? It's pretty stupid to try something like this with some of the most powerful wizards in our world as teachers. How long ago was this?"
Mason whooped when Kitty said that she was in, "Yes! Alright," she leaned in closer and whispered to the other girl, "My wand is pretty powerful, its speciality is basically for evil, so breaking the rules with this thing is easy. And if I may say so myself, I'm pretty good at casting a Disillusionment Charm."
Mason bit her lip and looked at Kitty, "Then comes the tricky part. We're going to have to brew an Ageing Potion. The Section is only for teachers and people over NEWT age."
Her face contorted into a malicious grin, "I have the recipe . . . but we're going to have to steal the ingredients. Are you up for it?"

This was going to be so much fun.
She shrugged when Mason asked how long ago this was. She guess she could figure out a general timeframe by researching Headmistress Loryen. That was actually a pretty brilliant idea. "I don't know. It wasn't in the newspaper. But whoever did this clearly wouldn't have cared that it was illegal to create a Basilisk, otherwise he or she wouldn't have been attacking people to begin with."
Kitty listened to Mason talk about how they were going to get in with increasing excitement. This was unlike anything she had ever attempted before. Even participating in the flash food fight with Haddie and the Gryffindor boy was nothing compared to stealing ingredients. She had always been shy about getting into trouble with grown ups, even if over the past few weeks that shyness had began to wear off. Yet this plan sounded...fun. There didn't seem to be real danger involved, and it was all for the sake of knowledge. Wasn't that what they were at Hogwarts for to begin with?
"Count me in! I'll do anything we have to." Kitty had never felt more free in her life than she did right after she uttered those words. She felt excited enough to scream, thankfully she didn't. She looked back and forth to be certain no one was eavesdropping then ask in a whisper, "What do we do first?"
