Post 2 - Taking from the middle Back at it. Ilia bounded from her green platform, back to the center platform. She almost missed the platform, just making it with the front half of her feet. She hopped a little forward , so that she didn't fall off of the back, and grabbed her next ball. Ball in hand, she slipped off of the platform and back to the ground. She didn't pause to land however, once her feet began to touch she bent herself into a crouch and sprang herself towards the green platform. She nearly shot herself across it, still having a lot of fun playing with the gravity, but she managed to stay on the platform with a giggle and deposit the ball. |
Taking from the Middle- Living his Dream for a moment So the Movie was based on true events...guess some liberties were taken to make a guy live on Mars then. Hmmppphh bunch of Hollywood Liars. Torrance listened as carefully as he could to the instructions. Take a Ball from the Middle, Steal from other houses, pass, block....sounded like a new kind of Quidditch without brooms, wait Quidditch without brooms still required flying and with very little gravity holding him back well...... oh oh oh oh oh oh! OH OH OH OH OH! OMG NO WAY Could he? it was the closest he'll ever get to it yet! Torrance shoved his desk aside quickly and just jumped first to test it. He lifted off and started floating. D-dr-dre-drea-dream-dreams DO COME TRUE!!!! It was like he was flying (almost). Torrance closed his eyes and extended his arms out. tilting his neck back and looked up. he was closer to the ceiling than he was previously. A single tear of joy trickled down his cheek, but then he started to decend. No! NONONONONONONONO NOOOOOOO The young lions flailed his arms around in a hectic manner trying to stay as airborne as possible but to no avail. His feet touched the ground once more. He needed this feeling once more! he wiped away the single stream of tear on his cheek and shook his head. He supposed he could still just pretend to fly in here. it was closest he's ever gotten to it without a Broom. Tory also figured he might as well begin playing for his house. He cracked his neck a bit and squatted low to the ground. Then he jumped and went towards the pyramid of balls. He moved one hand forward and snagged a ball from the pile. Could he at least perhaps Fall with Style? He tucked the ball into his chest and curled up into a ball himself. As he descended Tory thrust his back forward and began to do circles until he hit the ground lightly. He stood from his position on the ground then leaped towards his Houses platform and placed the now red ball onto it. |
Post 3 - From the middle Ilia knew that the biggest source of competition right now would be the lions, but she wasn't quite ready to try stealing from them yet. They needed an attack plan before that could happen. It was hard when your best friend She walked off of the platform, allowing herself to 'fall' to the ground with a fairly graceful landing. She eyed the middle platform once more and crouched toward the ground mustering all the strength in her legs to soar as high as she could. Was it necessary? No. Was it fun? Yes. The sensation of being in the air was always exhilarating, so the lessened gravity was the best thing he could have done this class in her opinion. She tiptoe landed onto the middle platform and snatched another ball. Hopefully she could stockpile a bit at least. Off the platform she stepped. Once again she used the momentum from falling to rocket herself onto the green platform and deposit her ball with a happy smile. She sort of wished it was free form acrobatics in here rather than a competition. |
#1 Take from the middle WHAAAATTTT!!!! A GAME!!!! Something that involved jumping, stealing, and passing. This was going to be AWESOME. Bella was super excited that she was ready to jump into action, but first she tested the gravity as she bounced two times on both feet, before jumping much higher to see how high she could go. When she came back down her robes got caught under her foot. There was no way she could be free with this thing on and now that the room wasn't cold anymore she didn't need it. She slipped off her robe and placed it onto of her bag, so that was out of the way. Now this little lioness was ready. JUMP!!!! Bella jumped toward the middle and grabbed a ball from the middle. Once she had it secured under her arm she jumped back to her house corner and deposited the ball there. |
Post 2; takes ball from the middle Ava was so PUMPED with this activity. Yes, maybe Astronomy wasn't her favorite subject but Professor Flamsteed always had such a fun activity in the end of the class. And also, it's great to see so many Gryffindor firsties enthusiastically participated. Yay, go Gryffindors!!! She took another white ball from the middle, and made a cool dribble a-la NBA and ran toward the Gryffindor's platform. Maybe she should jump in 3... 2... 1... And.... JUMP!! The young lioness jumped up so high and placed the ball to the platform. Another red ball had added to the Gryffindor's platform. Yay! |
post 1 - taking from the middle It was kind of weird when the professor just stood you down and watched when you were talking, not saying anything. Was she right? Tia assumed not, but also assumed she wasn't wrong either but maybe just on a tangent. And then the activity time. The Gryffindors were all over the center mob of white balls before she had a chance to say or do anything. Her fellow housemates it seemed weren't ready to steal from the red pile. So that left her to take from the middle, because Ravenclaw already were behind, it seemed. Jumping up to see her potential, the seventh year smiled at how little effort she had to put into jumping high. She did catch young Charlotte over there who seemed totally flustered at her accidental butt grab - something she probably would have been to, had she been her age. But she wasn't concerned about her; the girl was in a different house and if she was too flustered to continuing grabbing from the middle, then it wasn't something to she needed to be concerned with at this moment. After the class, if none of her housemates or the professor didn't calm her down. For now, Tia squatted down and then jumped reaching high into the air as she felt her hands grip the white ball and watched it turn blue before her her very eyes, as she deposited it into her own house's corner. One for Ravenclaw. Only like five billion more to go. |
Post 1- Taking from the middle. Rachel was surprised at Haddie. She hadn't known her friend had such knowledge of Astronomy but was very pleased when Professor Flamsteed awarded her three points. She continued listening to the man, nodding in agreement to the fact that opinions varied. Then they were moving onto the activity. She watched with interest as everything was revealed. Wow. Such a creative activity! Were all of the Astronomy classes like this? Rachel quickly followed the instruction of pushing her desk to the side. She was ready to get into action! The eleven year old made her way over to the pile of while balls in the middle. By the power of King Triton's trident! Was she ever going to be able to leap that high? She was so short... not even five feet as yet. There was only one way to find out. She mustered as much force as she possibly could and pushed herself up. Close but not good enough. Rachel tried again, putting more force in this time and was able to grab a hold of one of the balls. Smiling at her accomplishment, she made a beeline for the Ravenclaw corner to deposit the ball. |
Stealing from Hufflepuff SPOILER!!: wait what? Nm fun!!! Wait... did she just... win points? Haddie glanced over at her best friend, impressed with herself. But before she could say anything about that, the Professor was announcing the activity... and... Yes. Just YES! Giving Rachel another look, one of pure excitement, the young Ravenclaw bolted over her desk into the game... Wellll, attempted to. She more tripped over her desk and toppled, excitedly though, into the center. And then Haddie was unleashed, bouncing and flying around as if on the world's greatest trampoline... which, this kinda was. At first, Haddie wasn't exactly playing. She was enjoying the 1/3rd gravity, jumping and bouncing and hopping around the game, over and under the other students. Then, Haddie collided with the Hufflepuff platform and Hey, why not? This was more her anyway. She'll let Rachel get from the middle. Haddie held onto the platform and grabbed one of the yellow balls off their platform and glanced around for a fellow Ravenclaw to pass to. |
Post 2- Defending Quote:
Ah hah! Saw you little one!! Not today, nope! "I'm going to ask you to hand that ball to me, if you please, thank you." Henric stood tall, as he waited patiently for the girl to pass the ball to him. If not, he had to intercept it with his long monkey arms. |
Post 3: Taking from the middle With the lack of snakes moving about for this activity at the moment Hady's decision to not steal any of the balls from the other teams was an easy one. It would require her to toss a ball and then one of her own team mates to catch it. She wasn't lacking the ability to do so nor did she believe anyone of her fellow snakes were capable it was just the simple fact of bad timing for the moment. So it was with a quickened pace that she found herself half running half jumping about across the room towards the middle platform. This lack of gravity thing was rather fun and she couldn't help but laugh at how silly they all must have looked. At least everyone was having a good time and hopefully maybe was learning something. Reaching out in front of her hand tugged one of the bludger sized balls free from the white pyramid from which it currently rested. Not anymore. Her decent to the floor was slow therefore the small girl had already gotten herself into the habit of pushing downwards with all her weight the moment her toes touched down on solid flooring. Not always was so much force needed but it was great fun sailing through the air. Another ball for the home of the snakes as she set it down on the platform in their corner. Not a bad start but they really had to get themselves together here if they were to even stand a chance. |
2 - Attempting to pass :P Haddie just grinned at the older Badger. He was much taller than her, so... Instead of passing right away, she used the Hufflepuff platform to push herself down to the board, below the platform and the Hufflepuff prefect, for now at least and threw the ball. "Someone from Ravenclaw, catch!!" Haddie glanced back up at the Prefect and grinned before bouncing off toward the Gryffindor platform. |
3 - Intercept the pass Quote:
And... Oh, look! That Ravenclaw girl didn't want to give it up. Of course she wouldn't! Watching that girl passed the ball to her fellow eagles, the young lioness decided to intercept the pass. She made a jump and caught the ball. Yay! But she didn't want to be very excited. "Nice pass, though." Smirking, she jumped back to the Gryffindor platform and put the ball there. The yellow ball had turned red now... |
Post 3: Stealing from Gryffindor! Haddie was not thrilled to watch the Gryffindor intercept the pass, but since she was already on her way to steal from Gryffindor... Shrug. She'd just grab two balls this time! Haddie bounced up to the Gryffindor platform after the interceptor and snatched the same ball just as it finished turning red. And then a second for good measure. "Thanks," she said, but was already dropping down from the platform. She wasn't dumb enough to hang around for the Gryffindor girl to try to take them immediately like the Hufflepuff had. That and she didn't have any hands left to hold onto the platform with. "Bye!" |
Post 4 - From the middle The scene was starting to get more interesting as she watched the other students. So many little firsties bopping around, it was sort of funny to watch some of them. Oh, there was one trying to steal from Henric..........was he really just asking for her to give it back? Oh honey....don't you realize that you are five times their size? His sweet Puffness got the best of him it seemed. It was a perfect attitude and part of why she loved him............but it was exactly NOT what you did in competitions. Being separate houses, she couldn't really help him so instead she focused on claiming more for her own. At least Hady was on the ball like she was. Come on snakes, get yourselves together. Two girls, as awesome as they both might be, were not enough to repel the potential onslaught that was Gryffindor and the threat of Ravenclaws. Ilia built up all of the momentum that she could in her long legs and flew into the air with a forward flip. It served no true function, other than she wanted to but....she could have fun AND try to win, right? Although, the flip ended up in more of a roll and she not as gracefully came a bit too close to the ball pyramid. Her trajectory was off and she crashed into the balls............... Slightly embarrassed her cheeks were pink as she took one of the white orbs and threw it onto her own platform. It was certainly more graceful than her landing as it turned green and joined the others. Oops....She looked back to where she crashed to see the state of the other balls. |
Post 3 - Stealing from Gryffindors (cos we caan!) Ravenclaw girl had some moves too! "Hey no fair! he laughed as he watched the ball pass from below him. But the ball got intercepted by none other than Ava, of course. "AVA! Put the ball back here!" Oh no! Too late his house yellow ball now turned red! He was so going to steal one from her house now! He bounced to the Gryffindor house platform."I'm going to take this if you don't mind," he chuckled before skipping high to the sky back to to his Hufflepuff house platform. Almost there |
Post 4 - Defending! Quote:
Did that girl just take two balls? Could they? She didn't remember if they could steal two balls in one time. And now Henric was stealing one from the Gryffindors too! "YOU CANNOT DO THAT, NICOLEI!" She bounced up and tried to interrupt the stealing. This wouldn't be that hard because she often played basketball against the Hufflepuff prefect. Okay, maybe she had lost before but... THIS IS WAR! "I'm sorry, Giraffe!" Ava successfully stole the ball back from Henric's hand and bounced back to the Gryffindor's platform. She placed back the ball and it's still red, the color. Hehehe. |
Post 4 - attempting to pass ball 1 With two balls she could now try out different tactics. The first ball she would pass. But not here. Haddie bounced away from the Gryffindor platform before find one of her fellow Ravenclaw house mates and yelled "Catch!" as she tossed the ball. The other ball though, she was gonna try to deliver that one herself, so, hopefully, it couldn't be intercepted. Once the first ball was away, sailing through the air, Haddie leaped her way toward the blue Ravenclaw platform. |
Post 2- Catching Haddie's toss! Quote:
Rachel spun around after dumping a ball in the Ravenclaw pile to see Haddie throwing a ball. Hastily, she weaved her way closer to the ball and yes! She caught it! "I've got it, Haddie!'' Without wasting anymore time, Rachel made her way over to the Ravenclaw pile to place the ball after getting onto the platform. One more ball for the Eagles! |
Post 4: Taking from the middle See this was how it was meant to go right there. Even though Ilia crashed into the platform, girl got right back up and kept things moving. Hady grinning at her knowing she wasn't at all hurt. Hopefully. Keeping up with the light footed bouncing, see dancing did come in handy, she kept going. No point in slowing things down when one was doing so well. A quick glance around the area and to her fellow house mate first. Seemed like all was good for the moment and she had found herself once more right at the center platform. If more of her house were around she'd surely be a bit more daring but for now this would have to do. Small bounce, small bounce, larger bounce brought her up hitting the edge of the platform with her stomach but she managed to grab one of the white balls. No harm done from the occurence Hady spun around and headed for the green. When she was within a few feet she tossed her ball onto the Slytherin platform watching it change once more to green. |
Post 1 :: Taking from the middle! Oh. My. MERLIN. This was SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS! Ariadne was so super excited about this activity. She'd only had two classes so far, but she could tell Astronomy was going to be one of her favorites. The professor was awesome and so much fun! She eyed the middle platform full of solid white-colored balls. She jumped high in the air in an attempt to reach it but fell short. She tried a second time and finally made her way up to the platform. She started reaching for a white ball, but at the same time, she kept moving backwards. This was harder than it looked! Ariadne made a swimming motion in the air until she was back by the platform. She held on to it this time with all her might. Finally, she was able to pluck a white ball off the platform and tuck it under her arms. Then she started the odd, one-armed swimming motion to the Slytherin platform. She frowned when she realized how far away it was. She had to come at the middle from the OTHER side next time. She pushed with all her might until she was able to make her way to the Slytherin platform and deposit the ball on to it. It turned GREEN! Score another one for the SNAKES! |
Post 5 - placing the 2nd ball Yes! Go Rachel! Haddie's best friend, ladies and germs! Grinning widely, Haddie bounced over to the Ravenclaw platform, joining her best friend and placed the second red ball into the Ravenclaw platform. The red quickly shifted to a blue color. Awesome! "Nice catch, bestie!" She patted Rachel on the back, but there was no time to chitchat. There were plenty more balls to steal! And so, Haddie pushed off the platform and bounded over to the Slytherin platform. |
Post 3- The Middle! *sings Jimmy Eat World song of the same name* Rachel proudly surveyed the Ravenclaw platform. So far, they were doing so well. She was even more pleased about hers and Haddie's teamwork. As different as they may be, the girls sure knew how to work together. "Lovely toss, best friend.'' She smiled at the pat then watch Haddie go off again. No more wasting time here either. Rachel gathered herself to head over to the pile in the middle. She jumped as best as she could which was better than her previous attempt and thus, she soon found herself on the platform. She scooped on ball into her hand. Off she went to the Ravenclaw platform where the ball was deposited. |
Post 6 - Stealing from Slytherin! Haddie came into the Slytherin platform a little too hard, slamming her abdomen against it, painfully. She gasped for breath, not wanting to wait here any length of time. She could recover, after she got the ball. Snatching a green ball, Haddie let herself drop away from the platform and bounced, a bit less gracefully than usual, towards the Ravenclaw platform. Only Rachel was already there, so she prepared to toss to her BFF. |
Post 4- Preparing to catch Haddie's toss! Quote:
She stretched out her arms waiting to snag the catch. Would she be able to make it two times in a row? Would she? Come on, Haddie! Make the toss. |
Post 7 - Tossing to Rachel "Rachel!" Haddie yelled. "Catch!" She tossed the green ball at her friend, confident in her fellow firstie's ability to catch it. With that out of the way, Haddie bounded her way to the Hufflepuff platform again. This was working out wonderfully! |
