Robin climbed nervously up the stairs to the astronomy tower. She had come by before just to know where the classroom was so she wouldn't get lost. She shuddered at the thought. She had come dangerously close to getting lost many times here and she didn't want to think about falling down an enchanted hole or crashing down the moving steps or...or...there were a lot of things that could go wrong here.

She pulled her satchel closer to her. Anyways, she knew it was a tower and thought it best to wear one of her warmer uniforms but the cold was still biting and her teeth chattered- she was afraid if she touched her Gryffindor pin it would give her frostbite! seriously, that cold. She curiously took the lint roller and made sure to use it well, but was intrigued at why such a muggle item was being displayed. After sitting at one of the desks and murmuring a nervous "Live long and prosper" to familiar but not well known faces she took out her quill, parchment, wand, and textbook. No need to be nervous...it'll be ok.. she squirmed a bit before tapping her nametag.

Norah pulled her (freshly lint-free, of course) robes tighter around her as she entered the Astronomy classroom, struggling to keep the grin on her face as her teeth began to chatter horribly violently. Excuse you, teeth. Nobody gave them the right. She uncrossed her arms to hold up her right hand in a Vulcan's salute, calling "Live long and prosper" in Professor Flamsteed's direction. Could he even HEAR her in all the COLD? Her ears felt inclined to shut down completely, which wouldn't do anything good in the interest of paying attention. This had been one of her non-awful OWL's, though. And she really didn't want to give Professor Flamsteed ANOTHER reason to rage and yell right at the beginning of term. SO, attempted smiles it was.

The prefect slid into the seat next to Dot, offering her a chatter-y grin as well. "C-c-cool cape!" She really needed to get herself one of those. LOOK how SHINY it was. Merlin. Why weren't their robes made of that material? She extracted her blanket as quickly as she could considering her quivering fingers were proving to be absolutely useless, and wrapped it around her like a cocoon. There. Now, if only the blanket could shield her against whatever that dreadful smell was. She'd have to recommend that to Professor Flamsteed, if he ever wanted to become a blanket designer. That was always a possibility.

Letting out a long breath that clouded visibly in front of her, Norah scribbled her name and year on a scrap piece of parchment and gave it a shaky tap. ALRIGHT. Back to blanket cocoon mode. Yes. Good. She could do the astronomy thing from here. For sure.

Today was the day.

Having spoken to Marsha the night before and made a few arrangements, he was now proudly wearing... a skirt. Although, of course, he wore shorts underneath, but the feeling was so... he didn't even know what to say, but he did know he didn't care about any looks he may get. It was new. It was comfortable. It was... a little too cool. And not pertaining to the clothing. One step into the classroom after using the lint roller almost made him change his mind.

HOLY chilly toes. His body went kinda rigid but the way he gripped his bag was good enough to keep the skirt in place despite the wind. After the initial shock wore down enough to move, he started scooting towards an empty desk. Which was an adventure in itself. His steps felt weird. Not to mention the smell, holy hippogriffs. What even was that?

Worth it, though. This was worth it. Totally worth it. Ignoring the tornado. WORTH IT.

He flopped in a seat, shivering as he quickly scribbled out his name on a parchment in an even messier handwriting than usual and tapping it with his wand. The young lion's gaze had watched as it turned to wood yet did not focus upon the next item upon his desk. Instead, he sought out the professor and beamed when he found the man.

Did he see?

He raised a shaky arm and gave a Vulcan salute, considering how his jaw was locked in place from the cold.

Woooorth it!

Mel walked the short distance from her dorm to the astronomy tower in what felt like no time at all. Her robes were even lint free well, save for a tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiny little dusting on her right shoulder. Nothing to worry about.

The little metal Gryffindor badge was safely pinned to the inside flap of her bag, just so she wouldn’t lose it. She didn’t even look like a Gryffindor except for the fact that she wasn’t dreadfully out of breath like the students that had to trudge all the way up from the basements…they luckily had food near them though.

Looking around the room she just smiled at everyone that she had already seen and gave the Gryffindor boy giving the weird hand gesture a look before walking into the room and feeling it. The acrid bite of the cold air. Her lungs hurt for a moment as they adjusted to the charmed temperature.

Looking at the instructions she immediately sat down at one of the free desks and began to write out her name on the piece of parchment before tapping it once with her wand.

Oliver was not happy when he walked through the door. He immediately stopped in his tracks and shivered as he was hit with the cold. Why did it feel like the dead of winter in the classroom when the hallways were perfectly normal temperatures for the beginning of September. It wasn't supposed to get that cold for a long time. Olly frowned. It wasn't that he necessarily minded the cold, but Flamsteed could have at least warned them to tell a jacket. How was he supposed to just sit there through a whole lesson when his whole body was so freezing? The second year considered moving backwards, so he would be back out the door, but he caught sight of the thing sitting on the desks.

Olly hurried over and selected a desk at random. That wasn't what he cared about. The important thing was the box in front of him, which he quickly proceeded to rip into. He pulled out the blanket and immediately wrapped it around himself. That was much better. Olly huddled on his chair, wrapped up like a burrito, and it was a few seconds before he remembered where he was and he actually had to do things instead of just sit there in his warm burrito blanket.

The first thing he did was turn his eyes to the front of the room and grin at Professor Flamsteed. "Hello Prof-er, Admiral Flamsteed? Do we still have to call you that?" He didn't know if those weird rules from last year were still in effect, or if Flamsteed liked to be called Admiral all the time. He didn't know if he was supposed to do the salute thing either, but he didn't do it anyway because he did not want to subject his fingers to the cold air any longer than necessary. Wait, what was that? The air suddenly smelled awful. Olly glanced around, wondering if someone had set off a dungbomb. Or perhaps someone was really gassy.

Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, so he turned his attention to his next task. Writing his name on the nametag proved difficult without the use of his hands. So Olly was forced to extract one of them from the warmth of the blanket in order to fetch his quill and quickly scribble his name. He then grabbed his wand and tapped the nametag before stowing his things back in his back, and his hand back in the blanket.

Hope saw an empty Seat and slowly made her way to it. Avoiding the cyclones and other students.

When she arrived at her desk, she saw the parchment and the instructions. She took her quill and wrote down her name and that she was a first year.

Seeing the space blanket she opened it and wrapped it around her. Oh soooo much better!

Arista had made sure to use the lint roller she had become to despise for one it was annoying and for two she was reminded of her mother's own golden rule of always using one before entering a room in the house or going somewhere. As she entered the room her nose crunched. What in merlin's beard?

Continuing her walk into the classroom she stopped near Professor Flamsteed and with just the right amount of sass at having to say such a weird saying she said "Live Long and Prosper Professor Flamsteed." She even did that weird V shape hand sign that he had talked about. Such an odd sign. And with that the redheaded girl continued walking.

Seeing an empty seat near Hope she walked over and grimaced just realizing how cold it was. "Hello Hope! You're smelling this putrid smell to right, it's not just my nose?" She sent a smile over to the girl and sat down pushing the blanket off the ground she didn't need it yet. Thankfully she had yet to fully feel the effects of the bitter breeze. Taking her quill she wrote her name making sure to dot her i with a crown like she always did. Also adding her year. After finishing she looked to her side and saw a boy she had met somewhere surely because she knew his name...Or maybe she had just looked at his nametag. "Looking good Lancelot. I love it." She said meaning it, he was a hundred percent Gryffindor that she knew because she had tried convincing Thomas to do it because skirts were the best but he wouldn't budge.

He checked his hair on the mirror again, hmmm...good...tidy and handsome always Mwhaaha. Ehem.

He walked right up to the professor and gave the 'mandatory' vulcan salute. "Live long and prosper, Admiral Flamsteed. And may the force be with you." He added the last bit on of whim. Star Wars was more of his favourite muggle movie past time though. Star Trek wasn't. Sorry Prof.A.

Time to move on to the seats.

Brr...so cold. He thought of his girlfriend suddenly. She would probably love this kind of temperature all year round. Henric preferred hot..hot tropical weather. He wished to travel SouthEast Asia for once too and visited their brilliant beaches and cultures. How adventurous would that be people! A blanket! Nicee! Henric wrapped himself in it and began writing his name down on the parchment.

Okay, night time class. The suited professor was always a bit different and it wouldn't be their first night class. She used his little, lint thingy he was obsessed about. Why it had the sign confirming that it was not for use in hair, still eluded her. The thought that anyone would consider putting that thing in their hair was beyond her. Walking in she smiled and did her best to do the weird muggle hand gesture thing, were those the right fingers that she parted? "Evening Professor."

The celestially illuminated view was beautiful as usual with her entrance into the classroom. A strong chill like a wind flowing from a mountain peak in winter graced her face. She grew up in cold and it didn't truly bother her, despite the strong chill. Her long blonde hair was in a Viking style braid, she drew her house scarf a little closer. There were small whipping dust storms that carried a rancid stench, worse than the fertilizer composting heap back at the ranch. And she though dragon dung smelled foul! The snakette's pretty face contorted slightly as a wave of the stink hit her. Why were so many of these classes so offensive to the senses????

She spotted her prefect boyfriend and started to make her way to him, but.....she noticed that her steps were a bit.....springier. Ilia's curiosity got the best of her and she began to sort of....skip a bit. Oh, she hoped that this meant something fun. She wanted to do a few flips, the thought of acrobatics were more amusing than the stink was bad, so she dropped her disgust in lieu of it.

Sadly, it was time to take her seat, rather than bounce. She took the seat beside Henric and smiled over at him. At least, regardless of whatever Flamsteed had to throw at them, she had him by her. Picking up the 'space blanket' she looked it over curiously and then set it to the side of her desk. Pulling her pet rock out of her pocket, she made George comfortable on the blanket. There. And.....name plaque....She wrote in her neat but curvy handwriting.

Ailsa had needed three go-'rounds with the lint roller on the table outside of Professor Flamsteed's classroom and she still hadn't managed to get the detritus from her earlier outdoor excursions completely out of her robes. Still, if it wasn't coming out for the lint roller, it wasn't going to come out during class she figured. She did wonder what had necessitated the warning about not using the lint roller as a hairbrush; surely no-one would have actually done that?

These things in her head to ponder, she headed into the classroom and immediately steadied herself in reaction to the altered gravity. After a few uncertain steps she started to get the hang of it and saluted the professor. "Dif tor heh smusma, professor. And everyone else too." The last sentence added, pivoting to salute her classmates and to cinch up her cloak. Finally, a class where the cloak was actually useful. Really, she still didn't understand the wizarding world's fascination with the cloak. It was such an unwieldy garment for anything other than cold weather protection. Oh well.

She waved to Davie, Haddie, and Rachel as she sought an open seat, finally finding one next to the girl she'd seen following Haddie over to the Gryffindor table on their first night here. Well, she hadn't had a chance to know better then, and she seemed nice. Perhaps a little more interested in her appearance than Ailsa was interested in her own, but she'd been friendly.

"Hi," the redhead said as she sat down, "Live long and prosper, I guess. I'm Ailsa. I think you know my cousin."

As she waited for the reply, Ailsa pulled the fountain pen from her pocket and filled out the parchment. Yes, she had a quill in there somewhere, but, like the robe, it just wasn't convenient. Besides, she'd filled the pen with the same ink she'd have been using with the quill anyway.

On the parchment:

A little tap with her wand resulted in a rather attractive, and sturdy, wooden plaque engraved with her name and year. Nifty!

Omg why Kat why??? >_<

The astronomy tower was soooo far away, Katerina had just finished eating dinner. That was the rough thing about having a evening lesson, she had to make sure she finished her food (since you couldn't bring food or drinks to the lesson). Uncle Asher had told her all about professor spaceman. Yep he sure did.

Wobbling up to the seventh floor, Kat was stuffed. Feeling a little queazy, eating too fast to make sure she got to class on time. Once she was at the door of the classroom she stopped. Whoa! Tooth brush? That was a funny looking looking tooth brush. How convenient? A tooth brush before the lesson after dinner. Here goes nothing, Katerina used the lint roller as best as she could brushing her teeth.

OMG...... She had lint in her teeth. This was NOT a tooth brush. ITS WAS A LINT ROLLER! Ewwww. Who would use a lint brush as a hair brush?

Picking what she could out of her teeth she walks info the classroom. Brrrrrr. What the... cold? Brrrr "Hello Professor admiral. Live long and spout nose hair." Something sounded so wrong with that. She wonder over almost getting swept up by a few tornadoes on the way. She found a seat next to her dorm mate, Kaylee smiling at the girl she wrapped the blanket around her, as the some of others were doing. Reading the board she got out her quill wrote on it and tapped it with her wand.

Trixie followed a couple of students into the classroom, she was too busy staring at the back of their heads to notice the lint roller situated at the entrance to the classroom. She wouldn't have known what to do with it even if she had seen it.

She did however notice the coldness of the room the moment she entered though and a little shiver ran through her body. It might have taken all her attention but then she noticed how light her feet felt. It felt like she was walking on a huge sponge. She giggled with delight as she bent her knees and pushed off.

BOUNCE!

BOUNCE!

Trixie bounced all the way to a free seat and dropped down into the chair. It was then she noticed the Professor and she gave him an enthusiastic wave. "Hello Professor."

Oooh look! A cape! This class was turning out to be awesome. Trixie put the cape on not because she was cold but because it was cool. She then wrote her name and year on a piece of parchment before tapping it with her wand and watching in delight as it turned into a plaque.

First ever Astronomy lesson! Carl was excited because this subject was something he had studied in the Muggle World. He could probably at least understand some of the terminologies used! Stopping outside the classroom, he used the lint roller and read the sign next to it. He did not use it as a brush, by the way. As he stepped into the room, he immediately felt a gush of cold air and shivered. It was never this cold at his hometown … maybe it was a Hogwarts thing? But it could not possibly smell this bad all the time here. He decided to ask Professor Flamsteed about it later on. "Live long and prosper," he said and grinned while doing the Vulcan gesture. Was the Professor a fan of Star Trek? It was super cool. "I am Carl Leonard," he introduced himself.

He walked around the room in search of a seat and was surprised to find himself bouncing. It was like being on the moon! Well, he had never actually been to the moon, but he read that you could jump really high on the moon. Carl took a seat (after accidentally jumping onto his table) and noticed the blanket. How considerate of the Professor! He wrapped it around him and felt much warmer. Now, he had to write his name onto this piece of parchment. With a tap, he smiled as the parchment turned into a wooden name plaque.

Checking his sundial watch, the astronomer threw Pebbles a quick wink as the first trickle of students began filing in. He was feeling significantly better after the events of the opening feast - due greatly in part to the efforts of Sir Nicholas - and he couldn't help but feel that some more good news would be coming his way soon. Or maybe it was just that he was looking forward to returning to his office to finish playing with his action fig--- er --- finishing up his research?

Sweet solstice.

It was the name tag that rang bells and whistle loud and clear in the astronomer's mind. Was she aware that he had pulled a teddy bear out of her ear when she was nothing but a blob on Potion Mistress Lafay's knee? Was that teddy bear still something in their possession?

Thank Merlin she seemed to have a more pleasant disposition than that of her mother.

"Not to worry, they won't cause any physical harm," he assured the Ravenclaw. Well, not unless one were to swoop up a book and said book ...well...you know. But the actual dust devil itself would not be the actual cause. Technically.

Airey smiled and bowed his head towards the first year when she entered. It was...nice to see how much inner strength she was exhibiting for such a young person.

Then, of course, there was the rule about "living long and prosper," which Callum did not understand, but he did not intend to get on the professor's bad side so soon, so when he entered the classroom after awkwardly using the lint roller, Callum disregarded his surroundings to instead focus on Flamsteed (who got a raised brow at his attire) and do the hand signal as he stammered, "Err... live long and prosper...?" Was that right?
...

"Live long and prosper, Mr. Kettleburn," he greeted the first year as a thought struck him. A thought that had been lingering ever since the feast. Well, ever since he had calmed DOWN that is. Which really meant that he had been reminded of their discussion some time after the house meeting and now and was now reminded he wanted to speak with the young man about a proposition. "About what you asked me at the feast, I believe I have a bit of an opportunity for you. Stop by my office sometime and we can discuss things in more depth."

Because he did have a lesson to teach right now.

He raised a shaky arm and gave a Vulcan salute, considering how his jaw was locked in place from the cold.

Woooorth it!

Of course. He expected nothing less from Mr. McWitty. Although the professor hardly batted an eyelash at things and instead returned the boy's silent salute.

"For those of you who do not know me, I am Professor Flamsteed - although you may also call me Professor Airey if you so please." The Admiral, well, that was a little selfish bonus to those who wished to call him that. He wouldn't deny anyone the opportunity to do so. "Let's begin today's lesson with a brief discussion about why we study astronomy. What makes humanity look up and want to study the heavens? Furthermore, why do you think it is a subject that young witches and wizards are required to take here at Hogwarts?"

At least for the first five years of their education at least. Although, if it was up to him, it would be for all seven. But the man was just a tad biased.

OOC: Class has officially begun! Please do not post arriving late unless you are willing to accept whatever IC consequences that come your way!

You do not need to wait for Professor Flamsteed to call on your student to answer, just go ahead and have your character raise their hand and assume that he has done so.

Got a question? Please do not hesitate to VM or PM me. Or if it is IC go right ahead and ask it of Professor Flamsteed.

Class will resume as soon as I get the chance to reply to everyone - most likely in 24 ish hours.

It was time. Class was called to order and Janelle's attention went to Professor (Admiral) Flamesteed. One never knew what to expect when the astronaut was involved so it was best to give the man your undivided attention. Parchment out, quill at the ready, Janelle listened as the first question was posed.

Thinking about it for a moment, Janelle raised her hand. She hoped that she could put her thoughts into words, words that made some kind of sense. "I think we study Astronomy because we are curious about the unknown. I think people are naturally curious......at least I know I am. We know so much about the world we live in, but space........well that is entirely different. We are just a tiny piece of the ginormous universe and we want to know more about it. You know, the final frontier and all." Janelle couldn't help it. She had to throw in the Star Trek reference.

As for why it was a required subject at Hogwarts.........well that required a little more thought. "And.....um......I think we are required to take the class because.........we.....need to.........broaden our minds, think outside the box and realize that there is much more "out there" than we could ever imagine." Ok that didn't even make sense to Janelle. She had given it her best shot though. Looking down, she grabbed her quill and prepared to take notes.

Quick Catch Up! Been here all along c:

Astronomy!

Hady was ready. Always ready. Even for a night lesson she was ready. With her robes already perfectly clean that didn't keep her from running the lint roller over them as she neared the door. There was no sense in complaining or questioning a rule, it only took her but a second to complete the task anyhow. Setting the lint roller back down on the desk she then stepped through the door way and into the room. The COLD room.

Instantly she was hit with a blast of cold air which caused her to shiver just a little on instinct. After a moment however she was alright being used to the cold. Casting a smile at everyone already Hady made her way towards an empty desk near the center. "Live long and prosper, Admiral Airey," she recited on memory holding her hand up and giving him the Vulcan salute as well.

Picking up the gift that was already on her chair she sat down and set her bag on the floor at her feet. Opening the box to the space blanket she laid it over her lap, not because she was cold but because it was comfortable. That done she removed her three Pet Rocks Elvis, Flint and Nephrite setting them on the desk. Next she pulled out her self inking quill and filled out the required info on her parchment.

Quote:

Setting her quill down and picking up her wand she gave the parchment a light TAP. There it was now the wooden name plaque it was supposed to be.

As for the question being asked at the start of the lesson she raised her hand. "I think we take Astronomy to help broaden our minds about the unknown. To show us that just because things can't be seen don't mind it's not happening all around us." This was a rather vague answer but it could be true on many levels.

Steelsheen 01-11-2016 12:08 PM

Well whowudathunkit that Astronomy and chill can be done so literally?

Tenacius was doing the Darth Vader breathing again, but this time its to see if he can make little shapes with his hands and any kind of mist that could form from his breath. Plus it’s an amusing way to keep your hands warm heh.

Now lesson time..... And he had to put his hand up in the air away from the portable heater in the middle of his face. Brrr "Well sailors had to study it to get to places. Cant put sign posts out at sea, so they use the stars so they wont get lost." Nod nod. Sailors are such smart people. "And we are required to take it cuz..... uhm.... I dunno, cuz its paid for? Dad says just cuz we got money don’t mean we should treat it like toilet paper."

Rachel giggled at Professor Flamsteed. "Yes, that's true.'' She securely wrapped the blanket around her, instantly feeling warm and more relieved. She preferred warm weather, thank you very much. She watched as her peers filed in and started giggling at Callie. Her poor, poor best friend. "Hello, Haddie. The blanket will keep you warm.'' Rachel turned her head as another Ravenclaw joined her. TIA! "Hello, Tia.'' She smiled sweetly, feeling pleased that the Head Girl had chosen to sit next to her.

The first year considered the questions posed to them before raising her hand. "Curiosity, Professor. Many of us would like to know what is happening in space, what happened and what will likely happen.'' She did know this was how it was for her at least. The thirst for knowledge was always there. "I agree with Janelle's answer to the second question and would also like to add that knowing about the stars and so forth could come in handy should we ever get lost, for example, since they could be used for navigation.''

oh its Erik ok 01-11-2016 02:10 PM

Dante felt sorry for the one kid who did confuse the two because he would not keep reminding people if it did not happen in the past. Or maybe no one has and he is just making sure it does not happen in the future. Oh right now question time. Dante's real answer was because it had been required so he had to take it. But he had learned no Professor liked that answer. So guess he will have to come up with a better answer. Sigh. Effort.

Dante raised his hand

"They want to study the heavens because it is the unknown and we could not go up there in the very distant past. Plus the unknown is always fascinating."

It was true. Why do you think kids wanted to know about the Dark Arts.

"We also study it so we don't confuse it with Astrology."

Blanket in full use. No way would he suffer this cold for an education he would never need in stars and planets and tornadoes and lint rollers and the like.

His name tag sat right there on his desk (tho surely his Head of House new him by NOW).

"They study it because it's unknown and people don't like not knowing things." It was kinda like asking a ton of questions when you met someone knew. Had to know all about them in case they were proper friend material or in the worst case, they could be really mean and need avoiding...or lesson teaching...but maybe not in such huuuuge ways as the feast.

Still not sorry but hind sight was 20/20. Should have listened to Amur, lured them somewhere lonely and decked 'em harder.

Jean Granger 01-11-2016 02:35 PM

Class had begun! After a quick peek at what others were doing, Carl took out his parchment and quill so that he could take notes ... or doodle, but mostly to take notes. He listened to the question and thought about it for a moment.

He raised his hand and said, "I think we are interested to know more about the universe, so that we understand more about what we are." As for why it was a subject at Hogwarts, same reason right?

Listening to his classmates' answers, he began taking down notes.

Tracing his fingers on it gave a nice feeling on the tip of his index an interesting tingle. He was so transfixed on this he completely missed whatever it was that Mister Professor Flamsteed was speaking about. Something about who he was, or whatever. This spurred Torrance to look up though and pay attention. The Professor was speaking of course so He'd have to return to the nameplate later. "We want to Study Astronomy because someday we all want to go fly up there as far as we can." Or at least that's what HE wanted to do. Astronomy was the class about Space right? So to get to space you have to fly, and that's what Torrance was all ABOUT! As for why it's required? "Is it because I should take the class my Head of House Teaches?" He didn't really know.

Tazenhani 01-11-2016 04:08 PM

He. Had. SEEN her.

Amur sort of froze (further than she was already), and blinked back at the Professor. Surely he would understand why she didn't return the salute. It was COLD and well, that wasn't really the reason but it was a good excuse. She was going with it. A tiny nod of the head would have to do. Otherwise, it would have been completely rude. After all, she had been spotted.

Amur's attention was snagged by the new bundle of space blanket beside her, and while she couldn't see the kid's face, it did make her smile a little that she had a double. She could only imagine what it looked like, and she settled a little further into her cozy, temporary home.

From here, she could safely try and decipher Flamsteed's attire, while he started the class and jolted them all off with a question. There was one particular answer about toilet paper that had her breaking into a wide grin. She liked it. That was a good one.

Why did they want to study the heavens? She couldn't really think of a better answer than those that had already been given. It took some serious thought, her brows knitting together. Finally, some small thing jolted in her head, and she poked a finger (to serve as an arm) out of her warm bundle of blanket. "We study it so we can understand our own planet better, and how very small we are."

Yup. Which gave a nice tie-in to her next answer. "And Hogwarts teaches it so we can understand.............each other." Which, what she really meant was understand the man in the suit. As in....their head of house. She was convinced that was the main, if unspoken, reason for astronomy being in the curriculum. Not so much for the great wonders of the beyond, but because without it Flamsteed just wouldn't quite make sense if they didn't know something about the beyond, and interacting with him would be a relatively lost cause. After all, he was Star Man.

Kay was liking Professor Flamsteed more and more every second. The curly haired girl straightened up when he start class, while wrapping her blanked more snugly around here ' It was quite cold.'

She raised her hand when he started to ask some questions, she quickly lower her hand back under the space blanket before answering.

"We like to study astronomy because we are naturally curious about the unknown. Us, humans have been studying space for centuries, yet there is so much we don't know yet, like exactly how expansive the universe is or if there is other planets with, or the capability of supporting, life on them. It truly is the final frontier. " The young girl finished up, with a grinned.

Scarlett was pretty excited for Astronomy - she loved learning about planets and black holes and all that fun stuff. It was SUPER SCARY, thinking about how big it was and how it could all just come suck up their entire world whenever it felt like it, but it was still all so fascinating. As she waited for class to start, she moved her nametag so it was directly in front of her desk. She was a bit OCD when it came to desk organization.

And now on to questions! OOOOOH YAY! She raised her hand eagerly. "We study it because it's EXCITING! There's so many interesting things out there and it goes on FOREVER so we really never run out of things to study," she answered.

Goblinfrog 01-11-2016 05:11 PM

Kitty wrapped the blanket around her body. She pulled it over her head so that it looked like she was wearing a cool silver hood. It felt so good to have this blanket, she didn't know what she would have done if Professor Flamsteed hadn't provided one.

She listened to Professor Flamsteed's question. It was a interesting question, and she listened to the first few answers curiously. Then she raised her hand to give her own take. "We love looking at the heavens and studying them because they are beautiful and mysterious. I mean just look at them. Who knows what might be out there? The sky is so far away but that's part of what makes it so fun to study. Kind of like History of Magic. Like for example, I'm right now really fascinated by the Tapestry in the Fourth Floor corridor. One day I was reading Hogwarts A History and three news paper articles fell out of it. I read them and I found out that there is a whole story about that Tapestry. In the newspaper it said that three professor's were injured and had to be carried off to the Hospital Wing because of some 'mysterious force' coming from behind the Tapestry. They were okay, but then later one of the students owls was injured and the Care of Magical Creatures guy was almost killed by a red beam of light when he took his class out to look for Mooncalves! Headmistress Loryen (she was Headmistress at the time) said she knew what the attackers wanted, but she couldn't tell anyone! Anyway, after I read that article I looked behind the Tapestry and I couldn't see anything. They must have sealed it up, and that means that there is a secret passageway behind this tapestry!"

Kitty stopped then, feeling a little awkward at how far she had taken her answer. "So I guess studying the starts is like that for people." Awkward!
