Brady looked around as he walked to where he had to meet all the professors for this field trip. He wondered if this would even be a good idea for him to go to. The first year still wasn't in his right mind at all.

He was still messed up form the hag nearly cooking him and that was how many months ago now? Too many, that's how many. He knew that if he had talked to someone about it more that he would be better but his best friend was god knows where with god knows who right now and Bradson really just didn't want to talk about it even if it was eating him up inside.

The first year badger looked around and found the professors. "Good morning." The Scottish boy said as he looked around to see if he knew anyone that was here.

Callie 03-08-2016 05:20 PM

Haddie groaned dramatically as everyone gathered around her and Rachel. If it wasn't for the her engorged limbs, and the fact that Rachel had also been hit, one might think she might have been enjoying this a little bit. Then she tried shifting a little, and winced painfully. Haddie looked up at the students around her, eyes glazed over and then focused on Paul's face. "Come... closer..." She waved Professor Myers closer. "...Attacked," she croaked out softly, groaning some more. "Weasels...magical, flying weasels..."

Haddie glanced around as if panicked. "Where's Rachel? Is she okay?"

FearlessLeader19 03-08-2016 05:39 PM

Even of Haddie seemed to be too out of it to notice anyone, Rachel wasn't. Despite her intense discomfort, she could see the faces of Tenacious, Penelope, Hady and Kitty- most of them lookign concerned. "We'll be fine, thank you for being concerned.'' Didn't she have the most amazing and caring friends? Rachel simply wanted to bundle them in her arms for a hug. Professor Myers too.

Rachel nodded. "What Haddie said, Professor. Flying weasels.'' She was so touched that he was concerned for them also. "I'll be fine. Do you think you can shrink my leg back to normal? As well as Haddie's and her arm?" They could fix their robes by themselves afterwards.

Class had not even started and things were already confusing. The Head Boy had entered the astronomy tower after using the brush outside to clean his uniform and was looking at two first year Ravenclaws who seemed to be attacked by...what was it? flying weasels? Merlin's Beard he didn't even want to know... Which meant he did. But the Ravenclaw Prefect was already with them as well some other students asking if they were okay and Professor Myers too.

Speaking of the Herbology Professor, the man got smile and a nod as a sign of greeting before he walked further in to the room. He also said a charming "Hello Headmistress" and a hello and quick salute to Professor Flamsteed. Boy was he happy that it was a joint lesson between these three subjects. He found Astronomy mweh and he was kinda starting to like Herbology, but that was mostly because of Norah and he found out that he was actually good at it, and muggle studies was after Charms probably his favourite subject. So yeah, he was in a good mood.

The Gryffindor went to the boys make-shift changing room and changed in to the....really unfashionable outfit, Yoongi had to agree with Dot on this, they needed for this trip. Where-ever they were going...

WhittyBitty 03-08-2016 11:14 PM

All the concern and confusion Esme felt at the sight of Haddie was doubled when Rachel stumbled in looking just as bad but without collapsing. As she watched in confusion, she saw Professor Myers see to the fallen Ravenclaw. Thank Merlin there were teachers around.

"Flying weasels?" Blink. "Where were they?" Someone needed to stop them before more people got injured. Why was she getting the bad feeling that the person behind this was the Hag? Even though she had escaped into the forest months ago Esme could still sense her presence nearby and it was very unsettling. She shuddered involuntarily and shifted her eyes towards Juno.

Ariadne stopped outside the classroom door, made use of the lint roller, and then strolled inside.

So this is what it had all been leading up to, huh? AWESOME.

Ariadne was only a first year, but she'd been here long enough to at least recognize the change of desk arrangement. This sent a burst of adrenaline rushing through her at the very thought of something exciting going on in here today. Not that Flamsteed's lessons were ever NOT exciting... Her gaze changed to two tents in the center, one clearly for girls, and the other clearly for boys. Hmm. Okay then.

Finally, there were the professors. She had no idea what they were dressed up as, but okay COOL anyway. "HEYYYY, Professor Flamsteed, Headmistress Moxley, and Professor Myers!" she said. Apparently, they were all going to be wearing the exact same thing. "Professor Flamsteed! May I hold PEBBLES?!"

While waiting for the answer (which was SURE to be a YES, right?), Ariadne made her way further into the room. Were they meant to start changing now? Also, where were they GOING?!

MunchyBubbles 03-09-2016 12:04 AM

Mentions of Elsa, Haddie, Rachel, Professor Myers!

Azura watched as the other students filed in, she wasn't used to being the first one in class. So she just sort of stood around, near the back of the room as everyone started to file in and get changed..

She put her hair up in a ponytail as she was waiting and she smiled at Profesor Myers, "It's a very nice day today Professor! I'm looking forward to this class very much!" She said with a warm smile up at him..before noticing Haddie. and Rachel coming in..

What in the.. huh?

She was about to make her way over to them, but they already had quite the crowd, so she hung back a little and watched the two best friends anxiously, she hoped they were okay!

"Hey Elsa!" Azura said with a warm smile. "How are you?" Her purple eyes scanned the room to see if she could see.. Ahh.. no.. he wasn't here yet..

Lady Marmalade 03-09-2016 12:13 AM

Bella was extremely excited about this lesson. This would be her first time having three classes combined into one, so this was bound to be interesting. She was about to just walk into the room, but stopped when she remembered that she had to use the lint roller first. Once she finished removing all fuzz and cat hair from her clothes she walked into the classroom.

The first thing she noticed was the changes done to the room with the tents marked for boys and girls. It didn't take long to see what they were for when she saw the Professor attire and the boxes full of more suits for everyone else. "Hello Professors," she said, as she moved to grab one for herself. I hope this fits. Bella thought as she picked one and went to change. It didn't take long for her to exit the tent wearing the jumpsuit.

We see all you lovebugs <33 Haddie, Rachel, Professor buds

Moxley issued a series of hey, hello, and hi theres as the students began piling into the space. She was particularly pleased with Mr. Bellaire's greeting, as it was accompanied by a compliment for her and her alone. It was fun being adored and the brunette beamed at the young Gryffindor in response. See? Things were going swimmingly already. Or...they had been.

What on earth?

"Excuse me, pardon me, make way for the headmistress!" She was a very important person and looked it in her uniform and she parted the small crowd that had formed around Ms. Denaker and Ms. Watson before kneeling beside Paul. "Flying weasels, huh? Sure sounds like she's hit her head to me..." Y'know, in her very professional but non-healery opinion. "I'm not sure I understand what it is that caused these injuries as I've never heard of such a thing. Perhaps you both should be checked out properly," Her gaze turned to her colleagues. This was strange, yes? Also Moxley wasn't keen on dealing with angry parents if it turned out these two had suffered more damage than just their enlarged limbs. ...There was also the small fact that they didn't have long to come to a decision as they had a departure time to worry about.

"The rest of you, please change if you haven't already. We've got this situation under control!"

FearlessLeader19 03-09-2016 01:27 AM

"Oh, I think Haddie's quite alright, Prof- Headmistress.'' Rachel was sometimes confused as to which she should call the always pleasant woman. "I think it's the result of her arm and leg. I definitely do not remember Haddie hitting her head.'' As for her, Rachel's mind was very clear. "We're both fine, I assure you, Professor Moxley. If someone would kindly fix our limbs, we'll be happy to stop being a bother and put on those lovely uniforms.''

See? Rachel was well enough to read the instructions on the board and know what was going on around her. She just wished someone would fix their limbs. Please, Professors? She looked at them hopefully with her innocent, brown eyed gaze.

Lissy Longbottom 03-09-2016 01:30 AM

Scarlett entered the room just as chaos seemed to erupt - hang on, wasn't that Rachel and Haddie? At least Moxley was here to save the day, and she trusted the Headmistress entirely, so as she took care of that situation, she slipped into the changing tent and put on one of those horribly unfashionable jumpsuits. Weren't these what astronauts wore?? WERE THEY GOING TO SPACE?

Was that even possible? With their magic and all, she knew pretty much anything was possible - but could they really leave the PLANET? Hmmmm. She was intrigued.

Tying her hair up in a ponytail and rolling up the sleeves to try and make the jumpsuit a bit more fashionable, she waited patiently for the class to begin.

Stefan 03-09-2016 02:34 AM

Jace quietly entered the room like a ninja, hoping that the Headmistress won’t take notice of him. He knew that there will be a lot of students participating in today’s joint lesson; thus, he was more than determined to turn into a chameleon and go unnoticed. The Ravenclaw, still felt guilty about the incident, months after the unfortunate event. Still, he couldn’t find the courage to knock on her door and discuss his clumsiness.

Oh, how he wished Hirsch were there. Jace was sure he’d stick to the man, because he trusts him now with his life. Such a good man, he is.

After using the lint roller on his robes, Jace slipped into the classroom behind a student…quickly read the instruction, and got himself a uniform from the box provided without any question. The Ravenclaw scuttled to the tent assigned for the boys, got inside and changed his clothes. Moments later, he got out of the changing tent, and joined the mass of students waiting—with the big kids.

sweetpinkpixie 03-09-2016 03:17 AM

Airey continued to give Meri-berry side glances and they had absolutely NOTHING to do with the manner in which she wore her hat. Although he was not convinced on the practicality of one wearing a cap backwards. Seemed to be quite counterproductive, really. But then his Gryffindor curiosity go the better of him and he HAD to ask. "So...Meri-berry," he said upon clearing his throat just as students began filtering into the room. "Blackholes?"

Because that was clearly enough to jog her memory, yes?

Offering the appropriate "good mornings" and "live long and prospers" to students as they entered, he felt the need to tack on just a bit to the conversation between Miss Wojack-Gusey and his colleague. "As long as these embellishments do not hinder your ability to participate today." They were here for an education, not a fashion show.

"Stellar to hear, Mr. Salander," the astronomer grinned at the young man. At least there were some that appreciated the uniforms for what they were and shared in the professor's delight.

And then Ravenclaws happened.

..................

Sweet solstice why was it ALWAYS the Ravenclaws in his classroom? WHY? Not just that...but Ravenclaw females.

Merlin help him.

"Actually, Miss Greingoth, that would be quite helpful," he nodded to the first year as he, somewhat reluctantly, handed over his precious pet rock so he could make his way over to Miss Denaker and Miss Watson. "I agree with Prefect Wright and the Headmistress," the astronomer nodded. Flying weasels? What even did that MEAN? What did flying ferrets have to do with large limbs? Was there some new breed of Dark creature roaming the corridors that caused enlarged limbs with its bite?

Sweet solstice he did not need more fur to be terrified of.

"Delirium and confusion are clear signs of a concussion. Memory loss as well," he continued, knowing all TOO well first hand of these side effects. Ahem. And clearly they had to be both those things to have come to class in that state instead of going to Cecelia directly. Highly illogical thinking on their parts. "It will not be safe for you both to portkey prior to being cleared by the Healer." Not to mention the loss of dexterity having limbs off balance for a time could prevent them from holding on to things properly.

Seeing as there was no need for all THREE of them to be over here, and really Meri-berry's decision was final on the matter anyway, he gave his colleagues a quick nod and...went back to the front of the classroom near his desk.

"If everyone who has not been attacked by mysterious flying weasels could please gather over here," he announced, waving his arms to draw focus. "I would like to go over some ground rules and information prior to our departure." He gave his sundial watch a quick glance and nodded. Just a few minutes behind now but nothing that couldn't be made up if he spoke quickly. Which, thankfully for all, he was quite good at.

He waited a moment for students to gather around him.

"We have spent a good portion of the term in Astronomy discussing terraforming - process of transforming a hostile environment into one suitable for human life - and today we will be portkeying to an area that mimics this. Only rather than that being the surface of an alien planet," he explained (magic had it's limitations, after all). "It is an area previously made inhabitable by muggles. The Department of Environmental Regulation and Protection has graciously allowed for you to see what restoration efforts can be done before they go in and try themselves, so this is quite a big deal."

He paused for a moment to let that sink in.

"We often take for granted our influence on our surrounding environment," he continued, his on thoughts drifting to the impact Hogwarts had had on a certain acromantula colony and what had come from THAT. "So who can tell me some of the ways that people, muggle and wizarding alike, can have a negative influence on the environment and, as in extreme cases such as this, that lead to severe land degradation?"

And he sincerely hoped all would pay attention because these theories and speculation would come into play VERY soon.
OOC: class has officially begun! Please do not post arriving late unless you are willing to accept the IC consequences of doing so <3

We will move things along within or around 24 hours from the time of this post. Feel free to get creative with magical methods and remember that not only "correct" answers count for participation.

Ariadne quickly grabbed a uniform (or whatever it was) and dashed into the tent. She emerged a few minutes later dressed as a...a...what was this again?

Anyway...

SAY WHAAAAAAT?!

It was a yes to holding Pebbles? Sure it was a rock, but it was a PRIZED ROCK, and therefore it was prized and special in Ariadne's eyes. She did a little jig on her way to accept the rock, and when it was in her hands, she raised it in pride just like they raised Simba in the air on the movie The Lion King. "Thank you, Professor! I'll take VERY GOOD care of Pebbles!" she exclaimed.

Pebbles in hand, Ariadne skipped over to the area where they were apparently going to review some rules and all that other boring stuff. She listened with wide eyes as the details were laid out before them. There was a dramatic pause, so Ariadne raised her eyebrows in response. Then...how can humans damage the environment?

She raised her hand. "I think the most obvious way is by throwing things on the ground that won't decompose," she said. "If it's a deceased animal or plant, it'll break down into soil, but if it's something like a plastic fork, it'll just stay there forever and ever and damage the environment."

WhittyBitty 03-09-2016 03:59 AM

Okay then. Nevermind.

Since the situation seemed to be under control, Esme listened to the Headmistress and set about getting changed. The flying weasels still made her wonder but it looked like the situation wasn't going to be addressed - at least not for the moment. It was a decision that she didn't agree with but one that probably wouldn't be TOO problematic. Maybe Professor Draper could deal with it while they were gone seeing as he was the creature expert at Hogwarts.

Stepping out of the changing room, she heard Professor Flamsteed speaking to the class. Heading back to the group she listened closely as he explained things. Raising her hand she said, "We release a lot of toxins like chemicals into the water and soil. That's not good for the earth or the animals." Of course there were a million other things but she was only going to list one to be fair to everyone else.

Stefan 03-09-2016 04:19 AM

Jace played with the hem of his suit’s sleeve, as he watched the group of Ravenclaws and adults fuss over one Haddie Denaker. The Ravenclaw knew not to be too curious about what was going on, because, Merlin knows she might need some air to breathe just by looking at her condition.

Following the older student before him when Flamsteed waved for them to gather around, Jace kept his attention to the man up front, and scratched the back of his head in contemplation. What causes an environment to degrade? There's a lot to cite, so the most logical way to answer the Astronomer's question is to give a general answer.

Raising his hand up, Jace waited for the professor to acknowledge him, “Because of overfamiliarity with our surroundings, we tend to take our environment for granted, and not think about the effects of our actions.” He said, craning his neck to get a better look at the tall blonde professor up front. “We’ve become selfish to nature, and choose to stay ignorant about it.” Yeah, different answer…but should sum up his thoughts.

Callie 03-09-2016 04:40 AM

Haddie stopped groaning, and nodded along to what Rachel was saying. With her good hand she pointed at her best friend and... then Starman joined Moxxy and Myers and everyone else and "I am not delirious!" She pouted and tried to cross her arms defiantly across her chest.

"Oww-howww-ow..." Okay, so not the smartest idea when one of your arms is engorged. Haddie groaned again, pain from her engorged arm resurging through her. "There really were magical flying weasels that attacked us and..." Starman was explaining the trip to everyone else. Cleaning? "...and... okay, maybe I'm a little delirious. Can we go to the healer now please?"

griffin 03-09-2016 06:46 AM

Professors and Haddie

Oh good, Haddie was awake. Flying weasels? Because there was a lot of weird magic stuff going on at Hogwarts this did not sound entirely implausible, but Penelope was skeptical that there had actually been flying weasels. It looked like Rachel also had a mysteriously enlarged limb. "Where were you when this happened?" Was it some sort of prank, or perhaps the result of a spell gone wrong? Why was it always Professor Flamsteed's lessons? Penelope had managed to not die or get injured in astronomy class recently, and now this happened. At least it wasn't Penelope who was lying on the floor with enlarged limbs.

Rachel and Haddie would definitely need to be checked out by the healer. The girls clearly weren't fit to go anywhere in their current state. Penelope looked over to the professors. "Would you like me to escort them to the hospital wing?" Although Penelope tried to avoid the healer unless it was absolutely necessary, this was one of those situations that would require a hospital wing visit.

"Penny?" the twelve year old croaked. "Is that you?" She reached up with her good arm, hand spread wide and felt the Prefect's face. After a moment she nodded, as if that had confirmed for her that it was, in fact, Penny the Prefect. "Everything is dim. Come closer." She waved the older girl closer to her like she had with Professor Myers. Haddie groaned some more, "We were on the stairs. The astronomy tower stair." Yep. That was exactly were it happened.

Oh, good. Penny was going to take them to the hospital wing. Good old Penny. Haddie nodded. "I'm ready to go to the healer." She really was. The young eagle sat up and... well tried too. Turns out it wasn't that easy to sit up with two engorged limbs. "I think I need help."

+ Ariadne

Stellar indeed Head Lion Man! For this Lion Cub probably broke a world record for wearing a jumpsuit so fast it would make firemen proud.

The curly top burst out of the changing room tents beaming, hero posing like a flight enabled Kryptionian. All he needs is a red cape "I'm ready!!!" he declared. But there seems to be some commotion over at that side of the room and Tenacius lowered his arms dejectedly. Commotions usually means D E L A Y S. And he wants to go to NASA-ing N O W.

His attention was caught by Ariadne making like Rafiki with something that clearly didn’t look alive. He gingerly poked the piece of granite and murmured "You call that pebbles? Aint it more like The Rock?" geddit? Its so punny.

Aww man they still gonna lecture?? Tenacius fidgeted impatiently in his awesome blue jumpsuit just hoping that Head Lion Man would blahbittyblah whatever reminders he wanted to tell them so they could get going. But wait... that question he posed, was actually something the leonine lad could answer off the top of his magnificently maned head "Oh oh oh I know!...." he said raising his hand excitedly "...My new mommy said to me that at the farm, they have to switch out crops so that they can replenish nutrients in the soil, since certain crops take certain nutrients and put in another. She said that if they just plant the same kind of crops over and over and not bother with making the soil be good soil again, then it becomes poor and useless. But some farmers are lazy and greedy and they just cut down trees to make new farming places, and that makes creatures sad and angry and grabby for your dinner and your bed because those trees were their home."

Magical Soul 03-09-2016 11:44 AM

Genny was sitting on the edge of the chair, twirling a lock of her hair around her finger and absently listening to Flamsteed... except she couldn't tell what he was talking about so she wasn't really listening, she was looking at his face-- particularly those faint veins on his red neck.

The uniform did not bother her although she thought it was unfairly too Ravenclawish. Daxie must've liked it. Speaking of whom, the first year moved her attention to the students next and started rolling her eyes at every nerdy, question-answering one of them. Pft. If only David were here-- actually, he would be answering and scribbling down notes too, so her best shot was... Sam. Even though he came up with the worst ideas of fun ever, he was better than anyone she knew.

Oh Merlin she needed new friends. In fact, she had a classroom full of boys and girls her age, what better place to choose a new fun friend than here? Oh! Now that she got herself excited over this very idea, she took out her notebook and was all ready to put down candidates' names. All those who answered were already out, of course. Too bad that Salander Gryffindor was one of them, she'd seen him around the common room and he LOOKED amusing. All the ones drama queens who were easily harmed were unimpressing, too. Okay, wow, she didn't know it was going to be this hard. Frown.

He was bored already, waiting... because LULZ, Ravenclaw girl drama was NOT of interest to him, at all. There were better things to do with his time than to give credence to FLYING INVISIBLE WEASEL WHAT?.. yeah, no thanks, blissfuly ignorant to those people issues. What he wasn't oblivious to was Janelle's wave. He returned it, a grin lifting up the corners of his lips. He too started to close the gap between them by taking a couple of steps... but... maybe not. Not yet.

...

Hanging back he waited for the drama to subside and for their instructions to be given.

Flamsteed, of course, didn't disappoint... much.

Boring.

Terraforming? It made no sense to him, which wasn't a surprise seeing as he'd given up on the subject altogether. BUT... land degradation, was something he knew SOMETHING about. So for the sake of doing SOMETHING aside from simply looking attractive despite the drab uniform, he raised his hand to offer his insights.

"Professor, humans and wizards alike alter environments by introducing new species to areas where they are not native... which is an issue because they may thrive excessively in such conditions and cause damage by over grazing or burrowing..." it was a fact, but that wasn't all, "hard-hoofed creatures are the most destructive. Winged-horses, unicorns and things like them." Mhm.

FearlessLeader19 03-09-2016 01:33 PM

Rachel smiled at Esme and Azura, wanting to reassure them that she and Haddie were okay. But she wasn't doing that okay now... the Professors didn't believe them, which was perfectly logical. Did this mean she was going to miss a Herbology lesson? Rachel's face fell in disappointment. Not her beloved Herbology! She bit her lip, willing to keep herself together. There was no way she and Haddie would be able be cleared by the Healer.

She watched as Professor Flamsteed called to the rest of the class but Rachel could not stop herself from listening to everything being said. She also could not stop herself from raising her hand, shifting uncomfortably on her leg and saying, ''When farmers put their herd to graze frequently in one area, the grass is not given opportune time to regrow, land degradation can occur.''

She left her gaze fixed on Flamsteed, willing him to see that she was quite alright. Please don't let her miss this trip. Especially not since it involved Herbology. But then she glanced at Penelope and Haddie with a resigned sigh. It seemed as though a trip to the hospital wing is all where they would be having today.

Kolyander 03-09-2016 04:38 PM

Apparently she wasn't the only one concerned about the two girls. Which clearly was a good thing right now being one was on the floor and the other looked like she was about ready to join her friend there. Hady gave a small smile to Rachel as Haddie seemed to 'awake' now. Their reply to Professor Myers about flying weasels was a very curious one indeed. Firstly weasels were non-magical animals but flying ones? It really didn't make much sense but if it was true which knowing Hogwarts chances were that it was, it needed to be solved. Fast. Thankfully the Professors were on it and a trip to the Healers was in store for the firsties. To bad they would probably be missing out on this lesson.

Seeing a few smiles sent her way by her fellow mates she smiled lightly in return. "I'm sure it is," came her reply in regards to Elsa. She didn't think the professors would disappoint.

Hazel eyes shifted towards Professor Airey and his arm waving thing he was doing. With a small laugh she made her way over towards the man to gather with everyone else however she kept quiet choosing to take in what was said around her rather then to give an answer of her own.

MunchyBubbles 03-09-2016 04:58 PM

Azura moved away with the rest of the crowd like Professoe Flamsteed has said. She smiled at Rachel, and gave her a small wave grateful that at least one of her friends was okay! She turned back to the Professor though as he asked his question..

Hmm.. She wasn't fully sure exactly what to say, but she had a few ideas.

" Building cities can have a negative impact on the land. Especially when you add roads and buildings and power plants.. The land gets taken over and it isn't allowed to be what it wants to be. "

Yeah.. She wasn't fully sure about this.. But it seemed like an ideas!!
