Sam glanced across to get the page number, before opening her own, second-hand and rather battered, copy to the same section in case the Head Girl didn't want her reading over her shoulder.

First off, she wrote her surname on her parchment. And then Tia asked her a question as she started copying out the equivalent numbers. "I fink I'm okay wiff the reducin' bit," she said, "Tho if yeh wanna look ovver 'em feh me, that'd be cool." She finished copying out the numbers, and moved her parchment so Tia could check it as she went.

T Y L E R
2 + 7 + 3 + 5 + 9 = 26
2 + 6 = 8

Did it look okay? Sam glanced up at Tia. ""I coul' do wiff 'elp readin' the meanin', if yeh woul'nt mind."

Tiara had not checked in on this pairing for quite some time. "I take it Miss Mancini is keeping you both in line?" she asked jokingly. "Well done." She liked it when her upper year students took the lead and helped younger students.

Okay, good, she was okay with the calculations. Even though Tia had the same family name number as the professor, she still read over the interpretation in her textbook, trying to see it in a new light. The Mancini light.
NINE (9): You inherit an artistic flair, a concern for others, an emotional nature, generosity, a sense of needing to serve, a philanthropic nature, and an attitude of looking for what is possible.
She barely even noticed the Professor in her walking around the room and giving her an approving nod. It wasn't until she heard her speak up, where she heard the professor addressing herself and Sam about her mostly.

"Of course, always try to keep myself in line," she half-joked. Really, it wasn't that hard when she hid in the face of danger.

Looking over Sam's paperwork and calculations, she mentally worked them out, using her fingers to help tally. "Yea, your calculations look good. So if you turn to Chapter Twenty-Seven," she leaned over and flipped through the pages of Sam's textbook, because hers was already on the page. "You'll find what number eight means for your family. Looks like you're a leader in the making," Tia beamed at her young friend.

Oh look. And they were moving on to a little scavenger hunt, it seemed. Well wasn't that exciting? She pretty much already had a partner, and considering no one claimed Sam, the Head Girl saw no reason to abandon her now for someone else. "You ready for this challenge?" Tia asked, by way of say, we're partners, yes?

Turning to a fresh page in her notebook, she wrote "Moxley" at the top.

M-O-X-L-E-Y
4+6+6+3+5+7 = 31

"Want to finish?" She passed the paper to Sam.

"Well Lynch is my given name and the one I go by however I don't agree about the part with the money and power though I can agree with being well organized and liking to succeed in the things I do," she answered pausing a moment to think over the second number. "Donavon is my fathers last name and even though I don't use it he's raised me for twelve year so I think the master number four fits me even better." Clearly a lot of her traits weren't inherited but more so learned over the years.

Hmm. Interesting thoughts. "And it could be that the more years go by, the more you find the four fits. Or, frankly, in the other direction." She slapped the desk in finality. "Good work."

So how were things shaping up here? "You should be moving out to your next clue if you haven't yet!" Otherwise they would be hard pressed to finish in time. "Remember, you may work by yourself, with a partner, or in a group of three!"

"What do you think?" She was hoping to distract noelle. After all this was class

Noelle scooted closer to her cousin to see which scrolls she had brought back. She did the math as well to see if Hope did it right. She did.

"Yep! Looks like the floor floor! Good job Hope! " Proud cousin! "Wanna grab your books? We can head there now. It's funny that we were just over there right?

Noelle's eyes went downcast as she grabbed her books and parchment. She kept her eyes off of Sabbie, even though she wanted to look and see how he was doing. "Ready?"

MysteriesOfFate 02-17-2016 10:25 AM

Madge sighed. No partner was fine, too. She gathered her notebook and quill so she would be able to write down any and all maths needed. She decided to head to the fourth floor, if her math was right.

Arithmancy class post 9 (back from the scavenging hunt)

So after a very long hard journey... (Not really of course), finally team Silver Lion (or Golden Snake? Well, it's actually Gryffindor-Slytherin duo so whatever...), Ava finally headed back into the classroom. Even it was such a very short time, but she did have a blast. At least this was better than just staying in the class listening to the Professor....

"Professor Tanner, Explorer Burton and Lynch are back from the duty." She spoke to the woman.

MysteriesOfFate 02-17-2016 07:08 PM

Madge pulled into the Arithmancy classroom a bit red in the face. Not angry, but exhausted. She hadn't had enough physical activity since coming to the castle, so now she knew she needed to do more if she was going to keep up with her brothers.

She plopped her notebook open to the page used that day onto her desk and sat down to catch her breath. Her red hair, wiry and curly, stood at attention all over the place.

Arithmanthy post 8 - returning to class

Smiling, Kitty followed Esme back towards the Arithmancy lesson. "Agreed! Arithmancy is awesome. It was fun partnering with you Esme." Kitty high fived Esme as they joined their fellow students back in the class.

"We found all the clues Professor." Kitty went to sit down in her previous spot by the fire, her notebook open to show her the solutions to the problems.

This was it. They had done it.

Happily Esme returned Kitty's high five. "I agree! I had a blast!" Still wouldn't have been Juno's favourite thing in the world, but at least the math had been a lot more interesting than usual. She'd update her sister on what had happened, of course; she told her just about everything. "We'll have to work together again sometime." It actually had been a lot better than she had originally thought it would. Maybe she was getting more used to this teamwork thing that she had imagined.

Nodding along to what Kitty told the Professor, Esme returned to her seat by the fire.

Oh profeeeeeeeessooooooooooooor.

Jaemin zoomed back into the room, feeling very much as if he'd only just left it a few minutes ago. Even with all the stairs-walking... it felt like it hadn't taken long at all. He stopped just inside the door and looked at Professor Tanner, tilting his head and touching the doorframe lightly.

"We weren't supposed to go to the third floor instead of coming back, right?"

He had to make sure. Because if they were supposed to, he was soooooo totally ghosting and heading back out to make sure he made it to all the floors he was supposed to go to. He looked at Olivia, smiling lightly, before setting his eyes on the professor again.

Anna Banana 02-18-2016 01:00 AM

Glad to be away from the nasty smell of the swamp she'd encountered (...AGAIN), Ariadne made her way back into class with her bag across her shoulder and an armful of calculations. "Jace and I are back, Professor!" she said. "We got lost a few times, but I think we've got them all!" There were four clues, right? Because that's how many she'd come across, including the one that sent her right back here.

She sat back in the same seat as before and spread her calculations out before her. They were all there! Well, the ones she'd done, at least. Jace had done some, too! Speaking of Jace...where was he? She had been almost sure he was right behind her.

Thankfully they had only needed to go up one floor this time. One seven floor trip for this class was enough for Olivia. She had fallen slightly behind her partner, but she wasn’t too concerned about being a step or two behind Jaemin when they finally reached the classroom once more. Hearing his question to the professor, the Ravenclaw couldn’t help but look at him curiously. And hope that he was just over thinking the last message so they could be right by being back here. She really didn’t want to go up to the Third floor…and anywhere else…and eventually back down here.

Oh goody…no detour. Though even the woman was curious as to why the snake was thinking of 3. Ohhhh. But they were truly done, complete, kaput for the day and it was all good. Olivia nodded as Professor Tanner dismissed first Jay and then herself. “Thanks Professor,” she said almost about to go gather up her belongings when she felt a gentle tug on her arm again reminding her of her partner’s presence.

“Mhmm…Yes we did…and it was,” she remarked with a friendly smile. “Maybe we will.”

A leader in the making? Sam peered over the page that Tia had open, and found where it described what having an eight meant. "Seek wha' in business?" she asked, not understanding the meaning. As for the next bit? Sam just snorted. "Clearly the au'for 'as ne'er met me Pa," she commented quietly. He was a business owner, sure, but she wasn't convinced by him being a successful one. What did that mean for her? She couldn't see herself as a leader right now, nor a businesswoman. Coming to Hogwarts had opened up her mind to possibilities, and she just wanted to take as much as she possibly could from that experience right now.

And they were having a scavenger hunt? How awesome! It wasn't everyday you got to explore the castle in a lesson, and with the Head Girl no less. "Totally!" she replied to the challenge with a grin.

She watched as Tia started on the numbers, mentally doing the addition at the same time to check she got the same answer. She did, so all that was left was for her to finish reducing it.

M-O-X-L-E-Y
4+6+6+3+5+7 = 31
3+1 = 4

"So...guess we need teh go up a couple of floors den?"

SPOILER!!: Professor Tanner (Beginning of the lesson!)
Hmm. Interesting thoughts. "And it could be that the more years go by, the more you find the four fits. Or, frankly, in the other direction." She slapped the desk in finality. "Good work."

Hmm. She hadn't exactly thought about that really either. She was still only fifteen which meant there was a lot more growing up still to happen for her so it was highly likely that as the years went on the numbers would fit. Hady smiled at Professor Tanner nodding her head in agreement. "That's true, I hadn't really thought about that." Only time could tell for sure.

----
Slipping into the classroom behind her partner Ava, the fifth year appeared to be only a little out of breath. However strands of her hair had come loose from the braid she had it in showing signs of all the running around she had just done.

"We're back Professor, that was quite the workout," Hadleigh commented with a small grin as she handed over the parchment that held all over Ava and her work. The snake was positive they had done their math correctly and everything was in order. "Great job Ava! It was fun working with you again."

Daydreamer11 02-18-2016 02:06 PM

Janelle stopped just outside of the classroom door to catch her breath and prepare for her calm entrance. Once inside, Janelle headed toward her seat. "We're back. That was really fun Professor Tanner." Once at her desk, Janelle plopped down, glad to sit for a minute. Not sure if they would be needing their calculations, she pulled out the parchment she and Zeke had worked on and placed it on her desk.

Was there more to their activity? Were they going to talk about the numbers? Interpret? Anything? Whispering to Zeke, she said, "Do you think we're done?" She guessed she'd just have to wait and find out. In the meantime, Janelle considered interpreting the names that they had worked on. It would be fun to see if the interpretations matched their professors.

Stefan 02-18-2016 02:47 PM

Jace gently pushed the door open and let Ariadne step inside the classroom first, inclining his head to her as he stepped aside. Once his partner was in the classroom, Jace followed suit, and went back to his seat as soundless as possible. "We're done professor. We had fun." The Ravenlaw said turning in his seat and grinned at Ariadne.

Jace then got a fresh parchment and a quill, and re-wrote his answers down. There is no way he'd pass a parchment so crumpled from all the walking and running around the castle. Slipping out of his chair, Jace got up to the professor and turned in his work. "Are we done, professor?" he'd love to do more computations really.

itsjustjesse 02-18-2016 11:46 PM

Melbourne was exhausted as she made her way back into the classroom. “That took forever she muttered over to her teammates” and returned and flopped into her seat. It was hers right? She wasn’t even paying attention right now well, who cared if she had stolen a seat everyone had been running around so much that they probably wouldn’t even notice.

“This was” she paused and panting slightly from exhaustion, “interesting…” she muttered and then turned her attention to Professor Tanner, “Professor…were we supposed to calculate Professor Meyers name as Meyer instead of Meyers?” She asked “I almost considered that there could be a hidden level in the school and then…found it” she furrowed her brow and shrugged her shoulder. “it was a rather fun activity though” she admitted and grinned over to her.

Thank you. Now could she sleep?

Her whisper carried up to the professor, and she responded to the query. "I think you are done, yes," she nodded. "There are only a few minutes left in class anyhow. Enjoy the extra few free minutes!"

The Ravenlaw said turning in his seat and grinned at Ariadne.

Done? Good. "I am gratified to hear that," she said, then watched him head to his seat. He seemed to be rewriting his answers. Perfectionist, perhaps? Then she caught a sight of his other parchment and understood. "Yes, your arithmancy quest is complete. Good job!"

Hmm. Melbourne seemed less than enthused about her recent excursion. And then she had a very good question. "Well I made a mistake when I set up the hints. My apologies," she said regretfully. Even professors erred occasionally: she was a human being, after all.

OOC: The lesson will close in approximately 24 hours. Please PM me your scavenger hunt post links!

Mel sighed slightly and shrugged her shoulders, “oh well it would definitely have been very interesting if there was a hidden eighth floor” Melbourne grinned at the Professor. “I don’t fault you…honestly if you miss one letter then it all adds up the wrong way and everything is miffed up” Mel nodded.

“It was fun none the less” she grinned at the Professor and really, she hoped the next class would be at least as fun.

Zeke had let her win their little 'race' ... but he was right behind her when she stopped, literally, almost bumping into her. He exchanged a quick look with Janelle, one of triumph, and followed her in. Professor Tanner got a beaming nod from him but he remained quiet for the time being.

What he did do, was open his mouth to answer Janelle's whispered question, when Professor Tanner beat him to it. It was more or less what he expected. "Sweeet, thanks Professor," he mused, finding his desk and sitting on the edge of it, whiling thier minutes away. "You getting up to much this weekend?" he asked Janelle conversationally as he started packing up the things he'd left out.

Not only had it been a great workout for her legs and heart but all that thinking and calculating of numbers was something as well. So entering the classroom and hearing that they were done for the lesson was really nice. Hady smiled warmly, "Thanks Professor."

Having already packed up her things earlier before her and Ava had taken to 'running' about the corridors in search of clues Hady was able to just relax now. Making her way to her desk she slipped down onto her chair letting her bag slip off her shoulder to land beside her chair on the floor with a soft 'thud' while she cooled down and her breathing returned to normal.

Well it seemed she was taking things well, at least. "An entire hidden floor? I suppose the room of requirement may technically count if you see it that way..." But maybe not. "Thank you for your understanding," she said, still slightly embarrassed at the whole thing. "I am glad you still enjoyed it and did not get overly frustrated."

BRRRRRRRRiinngg!!!

"Ah, the bell! Well then, please pack up quickly and enjoy the rest of your day, everyone!" It had been a successful lesson, and Tiara felt good about the progress her students had made.
