Hope immediately went to sit by Noelle. She didn't know what was going on with her and Sabbath, but she knew that Sabbath would be in their group if something wasn't going on. She looked over at Sabbath and gave him a quizzical look. Turning back to the first clue, she looked at Noelle. "Ok first of all what's going on with you and Sabbath? And Second, I am not good at this. So I will need a little help.." |
Arithmancy Activity - Post 1 So what they basically had to do was a scavenger hunt. Now this was Esme's kind of class. Since they were supposed to work together as a TEAM she would just... try not to take over and to things independently. Hopefully Kitty would bear with her because she was trying her best but it shouldn't be a problem; her Ravenclaw friend was way too nice for that. "How about we take turns working out the solutions? One of us can figure out the numbers for the letters, and the other can do the math. Then we swap." Did that sound good? It seemed to be great partnering to her and she WAS trying really hard. Maybe it would actually be a lot of fun. The first name was Moxley. Turning to a new page in her notebook she started them off: Quote:

Noelle looked around when partners were said, and instantly looked to Sabbie out of habit. Only, he was going to Mel, a girl that Noelle had become friends with the other day. She furrowed her brows as he completely ignored her. Hmph. Okay. Hearing the seat beside her creak, Noelle heard Hope before she saw her. She turned her head and gave a shrug. "I don't know. He won't talk or look at me and I haven't done anything. " Literally all she's been doing lately was studying. But this was class and they had ... More important things to worry about. "Okay. SPOILER!!: feather boy & the professor ”And I know your childhood nickname” Mel rolled her razzed back before turning her attention back toward Sabbath. Melbourne was about to ask Sabbath where he was from when Tenacius spoke up. So the guy her friend had been calling…’extra good looking’ wanted to work with her? Sure, he was like her best friend since she was a toddler but still…it was nice. “Okay…join us, lets figure this out then” she spoke up and grabbed her notepad and a quill. “Okay…Moxley…let’s see” she muttered “M is 4, O is 6…together that makes 10…X is six so that would be 16…and L is 3…so 19…and E is 5…so 24? And y…y is 7…so so…31? Would that be four then? All together?” She was working it out in her head before writing everything down. “I’m just going to try writing it down to make sure.” She announced. MOXLEY 466357 Moxley = 4+6+6+3+5+7 = 31 = 3+1 = 4 “Okay…its on the fourth floor…but…I’m bringing my textbook with me” she muttered, “and four…in family numbers means a belief you shouldn’t be fenced in, for you are a free spirit…” she paused for a moment “lets just go to the fourth floor” she announced as she collected her things. “C’mon guys we need to win this…for the seventh floor houses” she grinned. |
Text Cut: Jace and Tanner OHHH, instant partner! Ariadne usually had to wait a few minutes, but she guessed because she was on top of her game and asked early, she ended up finding a partner a lot easier. Alsooo, COOL, a person she really didn't know well either. Ariadne liked meeting new people! She'd seen Jace in class a lot, but she hadn't gotten to know him yet. "Yeah, of course you can!" she replied. "I've been in lots of classes with you, but I don't think we've ever talked. I'm Ariadne." Because THAT needed to be done if they were going to work together. She turned her attention to the professor just in time to hear the super awesome game they were about to play. "This sounds COOL!" she said to Jace. Now THIS was Arithmancy Ariadne could get interested in! "Well, I guess we should start calculating Moxley's number. I'll do this one, and you can do the next one, okay?" Cool with him? SPOILER!!: Jaemin Olivia felt the tug at her sleeve and looked to find a Slytherin boy about her age. "Sure," she accepted with a nod, tilting her head slightly at the whisper he was using. "I'm Olivia." And by doing math and stuff, she was assuming it meant he got the process of adding and reducing like she did. "I think we'll be good," the Ravenclaw mused as she took a new sheet of parchment out for this activity. On it, she put Moxley's name before working out the numbers from Chapter 2 then tried her hand at the math herself. SPOILER!!: 1st Name That done, she offered it to...well her partner whom she didn't quite know his name. "What do you think?" |

Zeke Professor Tanner called for everyone's attention and began to explain the activity for the day. They were going on an Arithmancy Savenger Hunt. Well that made sense. Janelle could not have an out of the classroom class activity without her designated outside of the classroom partner. And......since she and Zeke were partnered up again, all was well. Hearing the instructions, Janelle was ready to get to work. Turning to Zeke, she asked, "How do you want to split things up?" There were several ways that they could do it. "Do you want one of us to write the numbers down and the other to add them up? Or we can take turns, I do one clue and you do the next one." Whatever they decided, it was going to be fun. "I'll look up the Moxley numbers and then we can decide." Janelle turned back to the proper page and began to write down the numbers. Quote:

"Maybe it's by the library," she said as she gathered up her notebook, textbook, and pencil. Best to not forget those since they would be necessary in order to work out the next puzzles. At this rate they would definitely be free from homework and that was always a plus in Esme's book since she would rather do other things with her time. That sorted, she headed out the door with Kitty. |
Moving on! Text Cut: Stefan "Nice to meet you, too, Jace," Ariadne replied. That took care of the initial introductions. It didn't seem like things would be too awkward between the two of them, which was AWESOME. She smiled at him then waited for his thoughts on her answer. Correct? ... CORRECT! "Then it looks like we're needed on floor four!" she said. Ariadne followed's Jace's lead and gathered her things before following him out the door. |
Mel, Sabbath || rolling out SPOILER!!: Mel Its numbah crunching time! Tenacius peeked at the parchment. Hey it was the Headmistress. He grabbed the textbook just as Mel was doing the arithmetic, then read along as she found out the Muggles Studies Professor was a 4. "Well she sure fits it." the curly top said with a nod of his head. So off they go? "Lets grab an extra parchment and quill and our books too." he tells Sabbath before the trio headed out of the classroom |
Ugh, time zones! Catching up... Mel & Tenacious SPOILER!!: Mel & Tenacious As Sabbath slipped his bag off his shoulder and tossed his stuff onto the nearby desk he gave them both a wide grin, "Hi guys, I'm Sabbath". He smiled with amusement at the banter between them, they seemed very at ease with each other and were obviously good friends. The parchment was unfurled and Sabbath recognised the name immediately as that of the headmistress. He knew he'd have no trouble finding her office as it hadn't been very long since the aurors had returned him there via floo after his lengthy kidnapping debarcle. Leaning in as Mel started on the calculations, he jotted the details into his notebook alongside the description found by Tenacious in the text. Not so concerned about housepoints, but definitely keen to escape doing homework, he nodded at Tenacious' suggestion of extra parchment and quills, scooped up the items and rose from his desk, "Ok, I'm all set, Let's go" he said in his heavily accented English. As he made his way out of the classroom with his two newly found friends, he made certain not to meet the gaze of Noelle. Sure they needed to talk, but he wasn't about to start THAT conversation here in the classroom. |
SPOILER!!: Janelle and Tanner The praise, he REALLY appreciated Professor Tanner's praise. See? Why couldn't the other teachers be like her? "Thanks, Professor," he beamed before she passed him by to continue their lesson. If there was ANY subject he felt he could take OWLs for NOW, it was Artihmancy, and Charms... Ancient Runes too he supposed, but the point of the matter was, Arithmancy was right up his alley. In fact, he might need to arrange a meeting with Tanner about that soon. Either way, he was content with this idea of group work, and Janelle was super easy to get along with, so it would make the process more enjoyable he was sure. At the explanation of the task, Zeke's lips turned up into a grin. Yeeeeeeees. It was a simple enough task, and so long as one could assign and add up numbers correctly then there were no issues. So, he was keen. SPOILER!!: Janelle Splitting work though, he didn't mind how they did it, so initially he just shrugged. "I don't mind sharing the tasks, or taking turns in doing them, guess we'll... see how it goes?" He watched her a moment as she assigned the numbers to Moxely's name, and when she'd done that he pulled her work toward him to finish it off. Sharing was caring, so he could do this bit, she could do the next if she wanted to. Quote:

Jay was easier, even if he did like his full name rather a lot. He took to staring at the chart with the numbers and letters while she did the math for this one; there was no point in their both doing it, after all, because they'd just arrive at the same answer. She was a Ravenclaw, and he was smart. They could both do basic maths, he was sure. He leaned in when she was done, eyes trailing over the numbers before reaching the answer; Headmistress Professor Moxley was 4, which meant... "Fourth floor? If the ground is zero, then everything should be the same right...?" He looked at Olivia with a smile and a nod. "Let's go see where the next one is gonna be!" Hopefully it wasn't hidden in one of the rooms or up a very specific statue nose or something. |
Professor Tanner & Ava The words on the parchment weren't going to magically change the more she read them. This much Hadleigh already knew and yet she couldn't stop herself from reading it for a third time before her attention was pulled away by a question from Professor Tanner. "Well Lynch is my given name and the one I go by however I don't agree about the part with the money and power though I can agree with being well organized and liking to succeed in the things I do," she answered pausing a moment to think over the second number. "Donavon is my fathers last name and even though I don't use it he's raised me for twelve year so I think the master number four fits me even better." Clearly a lot of her traits weren't inherited but more so learned over the years. SPOILER!!: Ava One minute Hady had been alone not in the least bit worried about who would want to work with her and then the very next her name was being called out. Turning her head to see who was calling her she gave a slight smile to the younger girl. "Sure Ava," she agreed with a small nod of her head. "Come on over." They had worked together a couple of times before so this time shouldn't be a problem. SPOILER!!: Professor Tanner A Scavenger Hunt? Um well alright then. Taking out some parchment she could carry around with her Hady began with their first clue. Quote:

Hady <33 Good to know that Hady wanted to work together with her. Like she had said before, they both often being in one team and Ava could say that the Slytherin girl had never bothered if they were on a same team. Moving on to the activity... Professor Tanner said that they're gonna do the scavenger hunt? Well, this sounds very interesting! She watched Hady retrieved a parchment and started counting the family name number. Hmmmm.... 4? "So, we have to head out to the fourth floor." The young lioness said. "I think the clue is somewhere around the fourth floor, maybe not the library though. Shall we go there?" Because she's ready for that now. |
SPOILER!!: Zeke Ok, so they would figure it out as the went. No problem. Janelle had no problem with making it up on the fly. She watched as Zeke added up the numbers and announced where they would be going. "Fourth floor it is", Janelle replied. In the blink of an eye, Zeke was up and moving. Janelle shoved her textbook and writing supplies in her backpack just in the nick of time. As Zeke grabbed her arm, she followed him out of the classroom. And the race was on. |
CATCHING UP! Partners anyone!? SPOILER!!: Madge's Notes Madge scoffed at her family name number. While Arithmancy was somewhat kin to divination, she rather didn't like it. She looked around when the professor called for people to pair up and realized she was, once again, left in the dust due to her quiet nature. She saw mel, whom she had paired with during the disastrous potions class, was already paired up with someone. "Would anyone care to be partners? she called out as she began to scrawl out the math for the first clue. SPOILER!!: Madge's Notes |
SPOILER!!: Ava "I agree. I say we head to the fourth floor and check other places first. Somewhere like the Mirror or the Tapestry would be a good start," Hady answered with a nod of her head. Quickly packing up her things she followed up the parchment and stuck it into the pocket of her robes along with her quill. "Come on lets get going." She smiled at Ava as she slung her bag over her shoulder. To the fourth floor it was! |
Arithmancy class post 8 - Team Besties! SPOILER!!: Post links Okay, by the time they made it back to the classroom Haddie was a bit winded. Still she marched triumphantly into the classroom, grinning like an idiot. No Homework! Hells to the yeah! "We're done!" Haddie had to bite her tongue to not add Profy-Pants at the end. Professors hated being called Profy-Pants, apparently. She took the parchment out of Rachel's hands again and handed it to Tanner. "There is no 8th floor," she informed the teacher. "So, no homework, right?" |
End of activity #TeamBesties Rachel followed Haddie back to the classroom, the stitch that had been in her side from her trek from the seventh to the first floor acting up again. But they had done it; her and Haddie had completed the activity. She smiled at Professor Tanner as the parchment was handed to Tanner. It had all of the calculations and the floors they had visited in order- the fourth, eighth "That was an excellent activity, Professor. You gave us quite a work out.'' She took her head, smile still in place, at her best friend. No homework indeed it seemed. The thought still disappointed her but she was pleased for Haddie. They both would have more free time to catch up from the last few months. |
Post 2 - Leaving SPOILER!!: Jaemin Jay or Jaemin. Both were equally nice, though his full name was more unique. "Nice to meet you, Jaemin," she remarked as they exchanged names. As for her math, Olivia watched as her partner looked it over, obviously doing his own math in his head. She bit her lip hoping it was right but apparently Jay agreed with her on the 4 or 4th in this case. "I think that might be the case," the Ravenclaw agreed before nodding and getting up to her feet. "Sounds like a plan." And with that, they headed out of the classroom to head up to the fourth floor to begin their search for the next name. |
