Uggggggh, Dot was NOT good at Transfiguration, and this making her do spells right out of the gate meant her wand wasn't even warmed up or anything. Dot tapped it against her leg, as if she could shake the magic down to the tip and do extra special magic. Or, y'know, good magic.

The professor handed out statues to turn into rabbits, which didn't really make sense. You had to feed rabbits, and they pooped, but statues were excellent for dressing up or glitterbombing. Statues were better than rabbits. And what if her rabbit ran away and she never could turn it back into a statue? WHAT THEN?

Whew. Worry about it later. Worry about the spell for now. Dot mouthed the incantation, deciding that POINTING wasn't a wand motion she needed to worry about for now. Lapifors. Lap-i-fors. Easy enough, right? She cast a sidelong glance at the statue. She should have started with the second spell... no rabbits.

Again, he wished he had his muggle phone out right now so he could snap a picture of the board. Henric couldn't help but letting out a small sigh and quickly note down in bulletpoints. Oh finally... they were going to do some transfiguration practical!

Henric thought that this ought to be interesting. He chose a nice looking merlin statue and put it on his desk."Let's try pronouncing the incantation first...okay...Leh-pi-FOURS...LAH-pi-fors...Lapiiforsss,"he muttered to himself. Hmm... close enough. He pointed his wand towards the statue.
"Lepifors!Lapifours!" Did it work? Did it turn into a cute little bunny?

Nope.

"Try and try again,Henric! You can do this..." Positive goal in mind, yes. He would not give up!

Norah held the rabbit close to her chest. She didn't really have to turn it into a mushroom, right? That'd be a really tragic loss, considering rabbits were five hundred million times more enjoyable than mushrooms. Burying her nose in the fluffiness, she breathed in all the good stuff she was missing out on because the answer to 'can I get a kitten' was 'NO' every single time. That's right. EVERY single time. Not even one measly yes, and she'd asked at least a million times. Maybe even a billion.

She looked up from the rabbit on account of nose-tickles, and wrinkled her nose in all the ways a nose could wrinkle until the sneezy feeling went away. Everybody else was moving on, and Hady already had a mushroom and everything. BEHIND, that's what she was. And also sad because she had to say goodbye to the bunny. And also proud that she'd made a bunny in the first place, but nobody had to know that bit because bunny making was probably supposed to be easy for a fifth year. Norah gave the rabbit a little kiss on its cutiepie fluffyface head, then set it down again. "See ya soon, little dude." She WOULD turn something into a rabbit again sometime soon. That was a promise. "Finite." Aaaaaand there was the statue again. It looked even more smug now that it wasn't a rabbit. What a punk.

She practiced an 'n' shaped motion with her wand once, then twice, then once backwards, then another time forwards because nobody had use for a backwards 'n.' It was a shame, really. Backwards things deserved love too. Next came the incantation, which was a lot less enthusiastic than the one before because WHO liked mushrooms anyways? Not her. That's who. "Fungifors. Fungifors. Fungiiiiifors. Fungiforsfungiforsfungifors." That was a really good tongue twister.

It seemed like Dot was probably gonna be the SLOWEST at getting a bunny out of her statue... and she wasn't sure if that was because she wasn't very good at this class or because she didn't have the heart to make a bunny. They pooped everywhere. And they smelled sort of... gamy.

But there was also the hope to one day be an Animagus, and Dot was really good at charms, and some people thought bunnies were cute... so she'd try. Really try this time, and hope something came out of her attempts.

"Lapifors," she poked her wand at her statue and gave it a little twist, but nothing happened. Literally nothing, like Merlin didn't even have longer ears or a tail or anything. "Lapifors." Again she jabbed the wand, and again... nothing. NOTHING. Maybe she should drop this class. Maybe it was too hard for a dummy non-Ravenclaw like her.

"BE A BUNNY. LAPIFORS." She didn't WANT to drop the class, and there... Merlin was looking distinctly more bunny-like, with ears and a tail and whiskers and... welp. Still made of stone, though. It was a start, at least.

Lapifors not lapiforn. That little letter made the whole difference.

This time Hugo was confident to get the spell done right. I mean, HOW on earth were the younger students getting better than him? No clue but he wasn't going to feel embarrassed about it. Just a bit. Okay, enough of his conversation with his thoughts, he wanted to get a rabbit now. With his wand pointing at the statue, he said loud and clear "LAPIFORS" it moved. Probably because his wand touched it but nothing else happened.

He grabbed the statue, "You should colaborate with me and turn into a rabbit" and placed again on the desk. Hugo stand up straight and tried again "Lapifors" this time a pair of ears appeared. That was great. In fact, awesome.

"Come on Henric...pronounce the spell correctly or you'll never get this right!" The back of his mind voiced out. "Yeah well you're not helping,"he retorted. Okay...breathe...breathe...no need to be get frustrated over this. He just needed to concentrate. Focus...Focuuusssss!

"Lapifors!"Henric cast loud and confidently. The statue was finally taking its shape of a rabbit! OH YESS! He did it! Well...sort of. His stone rabbit didn't move. Why? Hmm...*slowly put a finger to its nose*

"OUCH!" he cried in pain. That little sneaky monster! IT BIT HIM!

Wait...It BIT him?!

xD oh merlin! He actually did it! Turning statues into a rabbit. SUCCESS.

Alright now that the practice stuff was out of the way, like why did he even bother with practice anyways, he took out his wand for real this time. Drawing an 'm' shape he clearly said, "Avis!" And watched in amazement as a flock of birds DIDN'T appear.

.... Oh. Well that was anticlimactic. Uh.

Trial two maybe? "Avis!!" He tried once more, still repeating the correct wand movement as he did so. Nope. Zero. Welp. And the worst part is, he was doing the whole intention thing too. What the heck?!? His intention was there. He was sure of it. You know what, no. Third try was always the lucky one.

Here goes nothing, "Avis!!!" AND THIS TIME, birds. See? That's all he wanted. Birds. HA. HE DID IT!! He did the conjugation thing. LOOK AT THEM GO!!! Look at those birds!!

Did Professor York see them? 'Cause they were there. Zander conjured birds. Real life actual ones. Ha.

With Avis complete, Benny figured he could move onto the more personal spell. Transformation versus conjuration. Each respective branch having its own uses. But it was time to get about changing his hair and outting his borrowed mirror to good use. He could see what his fellow upperclassmen including Adi were coming up with wondered how he should go. This...this was helping towards his ultimate goal involving human transfiguration. Technically self transfiguration. Which in turn made him more interested in it.

Perhaps a bit simple on the first time around.

First there was the practice. "Crinus Muto," he worked on pronouncing. "Crinus Muto...Crinus Muto...Crinus Muto." The wand movement was easy in comparison. The seventh year tried to think on a doable change to his hair...maybe something that he could consider in the future. His hair...only different. With an image popping to mind, Ben set about the casting.

"Crinus Muto!" Benny cast, moving his wand on and arch directed at his head. It didn't readily seem anything had happened until he felt something tickle his neck. He brought up the mirror to take a look only to find his mop of dirty blonde hair was now much lighter and down to his shoulders. Would you look at that...

If only he had had this spell for playing Thor.

Where did her mouse ago?

Ava looked around the classroom and... "There you are!!" She grabbed a little helpless but cute mouse from the floor. Pat pat pat. "Please don't escape anymore, I am not gonna hurt you." She whispered. Hehehe. Now, could we get back to the practice? Yes please.

She placed the mouse to her practice spot and try to transfigure it become a goblet again. Tap tap tap.... "Vera Verto!" But still, the mouse didn't become the goblet. One more try? She tapped her wand three times. "Vera Verto!" And...

BAM!

The little helpless mouse had transformed into a beautiful goblet.

There were a couple of reasons why Brooklyn hadn’t replied to any of the questions during the class discussion, and none of them had anything to do with the fact Professor York was definitely not Professor Bellaire. First off, she really felt like Adi had chosen to sit RIGHT NEXT TO her purposely because he knew it would annoy her. Especially when she couldn’t escape. Not when the rest of the class had filled up and the lesson had begun. Second, she thought the rule that they had to sing or play music in order to answer questions was stupid. Unless she was allowed to bring her violin to the next lesson, she wasn’t using any of those secondhand instruments. And she didn’t sing, not for anyone. She’d at least listened to the discussion, though, writing down the list of spells when they’d appeared on the blackboard.

Then they’d been instructed to move, and she’d hidden all her belongings aside from her wand inside her desk easily. She hadn’t even flinched when the desks had been vanished seconds later. At least everyone moving meant she could esc ape the Hufflepuff prefect. After collecting a Merlin statue, she’d returned to the area she’d been banished to and sat on the ground. She didn’t need a partner, and she definitely wouldn’t be admitting needing help. Setting the statue in front of her, she decided to practice first. “Lapifors,” she said softly, repeating it a few times. “Lapifors, lapifors, lapifors.” She knew how to point, after all. The only problem she was having was that she wanted to be learning that spell to transfigure her hair. It could be useful for Halloween after all.

Honestly, why on Earth did the teachers at this school have them sit at desks if they just made them get up and move around again? Daxton gave a small huff as he did indeed get to his feet and move across to the front corner of the room with the rest of the younger students, sending a glance back to the other areas to try and get a glimpse of the more advanced spells in action.

Turning back to the group he was in, Daxton took his wand out from up his sleeve and considered it for a moment. He was a hundred percent certain that this was not going to work without speaking the incantation (the same it had been in every other class), but saw no harm in trying. It helped that the singing and instrument noise had stopped, which was steadily improving Daxton's mood, but he kept his earmuffs firmly clamped over his ears.

Before getting anything to try the spell on, Daxton practiced the mechanics of the spell on its own. He tapped at thin air with his wand, thinking Vera Verto and focusing on the mental image of a water goblet. Twice more he went through the motions, before looking up and searching for the container of mice to practice on.

Angel listened to the Professor as she told them what spells they were going to practice and then she noticed that a few people had already started whilst she was thinking, she couldn't believe she was so distracted these days but anyway it was now time for her to get serious and to practice the spells.

"Lapifored!!!!!!!!" Angel wanted to practice the incantation first. "Lapiford!!" Angel sighed neither of them sounded right, she knew you had to do them and say them correctly or anything could happen. "Lapifors!" Angel managed to say it after a few more tries.

Angel then looked at the wand movement and smiled that was the easy part of the spell, why couldn't it all be as easy as this sort of wand movement, she pointed her wand at the Merlin statues and got ready to perform the spell.

"LAPIFORED!!" Angel concentrated really hard and when she was ready she said the incantation as she pointed her wand at the statue but nothing happened and she was shocked at that and a bit confused and then she realised she had said it wrong again. Obviously more practice was needed.

After all the boring talking was done, Olly was excited for the rest of the lesson. He was never very good at listening to the theory or answering questions or whatever. He just wanted to learn magic. As soon as they were instructed to move, he leaped up from his desk and moved to where the first years were supposed to be. He clutched his wand, totally ready for whatever it was they were going to do next. As long as it involved magic, he was excited.

Woooorms. Cool. Olly went and grabbed one of those first. It would be easiest to practice the spells one at a time. He brought his worm back to the first and second year area and found a spot that he claimed as his own. He didn't want to be bumping into other people while trying to practice the spells.

READY.

"Flint-uh-fours." He pointed his wand at the worm. No, that didn't do anything. What was the wand movement again? Oh, yeah. He added a flick upwards, but the worm remained a worm. He probably had to do it all at once. "Flintfor." Point and flick. Nope, still nothing. Something sounded off about the incantation. Olly peered up at the board to commit it to memory. Flintifors. "Flintifors." Point and flick at the worm, but it was still just a worm. Hmm.

Angel decided that the first thing she had to do was make sure she got the incantation right "Lap...if...ors!!!" Angel decided to practice it a few times to make sure she was saying it right when she was ready she decided to put it all together.

"Lapifors!!" Angel said as she practiced the incantation. "Lapifors!!!" She wanted to say it a few times just to make sure she was getting it right. "Lapifors!" Angel was glad that it seemed that she was finally starting to say the whole thing right.

Now it was time to put it all together, she pointed her wand at the statue and she pictured everything in her mind. "Lapifors!" She casted after a few moments pause, she watched as the spell sort of worked, the statue had changed but it wasn't all a rabbit, this was just an hard spell to master.

Mushroom time for REAL. Once she'd practiced far more times than was necessary, Norah turned a focused gaze to the statue. Or rather, the soon-to-be-mushroom, 'cause the spell WAS going to work. It had to. She was going to force it to. With an extra-loud exhale (because people always seemed to do those before extra-important actions), she aimed her wand. "Fungifors." Concentrating hard on that mushroom, she drew an 'n' shape.

The statue was replaced by a mushroom. That's right. It worked. IT WORKED. Norah Lillian Kittredge got a spell on the very first try and it was probably the most important day of her entire life. The FIRST TRY. A SPELL ON THE FIRST TRY. Man, this must be what it felt like to be Sophie Brown. She scooped up the mushroom and gave it an air-kiss, because mushrooms had no right to be close to her mouth, thank you very much. "I did it!" She announced to nobody in particular. That firstie with the quill that followed him everywhere should be getting this recorded, uh huh. It was probably never going to happen again. She couldn't help but to grin at Professor York, who she'd decided was somehow responsible for this miracle. The first try. Heh.

Okay, worm. Olly peered at the squirming creature he held in his hand. For some reason, it did not seem to want to be turned into a matchbox. He could not imagine why not. Well, maybe he could. But it was just a worm, and did not have the same capacity for thought that Olly did so it should not know what was going on. It probably didn't.

"Flintifors." He pointed and flicked again, concentrating on the task at hand. It was all about intent, right? He assumed the same rules of magic were true regardless of what type of spell was being attempted. Unfortunately, even though he had a lot of intent, the worm still did not change into a matchbox. WHY WORM, WHY?

Olly crouched down and set the worm on the ground. It squirmed a lot, but didn't appear to be trying to go anywhere. Even if it did, worms weren't very fast so it wouldn't be a problem. Olly stared at it, concentrating as he raised his want and pointed it at the worm. "Flintifors!" Point aaaand flick up. Suddenly there was no longer a worm in front of him, but a matchbox. It was cool, but he kind of missed the worm. Olly raised his hand.

"Professor, is there a way to change it back?"

Angel now had to practice the next spell. "Fungifors!" Angel had a feeling that this spell was going to be interested. "Fungifors!!" Angel spoke the spell a few times she had seen what had happen when she wasn't concentrating hard enough. "Fungifors!!" Angel made sure she was all ready and now she had to practice the incantation.

Angel started to practice the incantation, this one was a bit harder than the last one she had just done and so she tried it out a few times more than she had with her first one.

Once Angel was ready she put them both together and she practice them together a few times, this was going to be interesting. She just knew it was.

"Fungifors!!" Angel did the wand movement but nothing happened, that was not cool at all.

While he was waiting for the professor's answer, Yoongi decided to continue practicing the spell on his hair and make it a bit longer. He closed his eyes and imagined the new hairstyle in his mind.

When he had pictured it, the Gryffindor grabbed his hand mirror and wand and waved it in an arch movement while saying "Crinus Muto!" Immediately, the hair style started to change. It grew........and grew ...and grew..... no not that long! "finite! finite!" he waved his wand and luckily the growing had stopped but now he had shocking red big wavy luscious hair over his shoulders.

He checked himself in the mirror and panicked.

Ellery was debating whether she should try and get away with trying a more advanced spell, but then she remembered how she was supposed to be actually learning stuff instead of making stuff up, so she finally settled on starting with Flintifors.

It was a point and flick upwards. "Flintifors!" she tried, pointing and flicking her wand at the worm, which remained stubbornly a worm.

Ellery was also kind of distracted. Her brother wanted the worm back, which got her thinking.

"Professor, are we KILLING the worm by turning it into a matchbox? Ooor, what if we turned a matchbox into a worm? Did we really just bring something inanimate to life? Or is everything simultaneously alive and dead?" GASP. "Am I ALIVE AND DEAD?!?!"

Zander was quite proud of his birds, thank you very much. So after letting them fly around for a bit he quickly cast a 'finite' to get rid of them for the moment being. 'Cause now he had to work on the next spell... Because for some reason Professor York was being ambitious and wanted them to get TWO entire spells down for the lesson. She was a Slytherin. Zander could just tell. And obviously Zander Adair knew what he was talking about 100% of the time ahem not.

So anyways, he glanced down at his notes, but then decided to look over to the board just incase. Sometimes he wrote things down wrong, y'know? But ANYWAYS. This time he had actually managed to get things right so the next bit was all about saying the incantation a couple of times before starting to do the real thing.

WAIT he didn't have a partner. Eh. Actually, he didn't really want to trust anyone else with his hair. One time Bart made it all disappear... Though they were sort of in war at the time so aheeeeem. Yeah. Understandable. Sort of. The Head Boy got out of his chair and walked over to grab one of the mirrors, opting to change his own hair instead of working with someone else. Everyone else looked busy doing their own thing, so it was probably for the best this way anyways... Now what was the spell again? Crinsomething. Uh.

Crinus Muto.

Thank goodness for the board.

Ellery was asking questions and being all dramatic. Then again, when wasn't she? Olly ignored her, which was fine because she wasn't talking to him, as he went to get his mouse to practice the next spell. He didn't really care if they killed the worm. It was a worm. It wouldn't be that hard to find a new one. But he had tucked his matchbox worm into his pocket for now.

Alright. Next spell. The mouse seemed like it would be harder to perform magic on. It was able to move a lot faster than a worm could. And it did not seem to like being held, judging by the amount of squirming in his hand that it did. But he couldn't set it down because then it would just run away. And he had a feeling some people would not like that.

"Vera Verto," he said clearly. It was a pretty easy incantation to remember. He tapped the mouse once, twice, and three times. Nothing happened. It did not turn into a goblet. When Olly thought about it, he did not think that he would like to drink from something that had once been a mouse. He did not want to drink from a mouse. That would be gross.

After watching the birds for a few moments, Paulina felt ready to move on to the next spell. This one was going to be harder because it involved human transfiguration, but at least it didn't entail changing her WHOLE person. Paulina didn't think she would be capable of that kind of magic for a little while yet.

Even though the wand movement seemed to be pretty simple, she decided that it definitely wouldn't hurt to practice it for a little while. Quickly she formed arch after arch. She could do this kind of thing with her eyes closed, and was glad that this part at least was simple; it was the incantation that would give her more trouble.

"Crinus Muto." That sounded weird. Paulina repeated the words a few more times, but it always felt strange to her. She drew it out a little and found that it worked better that way.

When she felt that everything was said perfectly she would be ready to move on to the next part. She was going to do the spell on herself, because quite frankly she wasn't sure if she trusted anyone else with her hair.

With a success under his belt, Rooney took his notebook out and wrote down the attributes of the matchbox before him. The matchbox that was formerly Wiggles. The matchbox that was going to be joined by another in a moment if he could do this right. Right. ”Hey Wanda? I’m sorry that you’re about to..uh…be boxed. But..well.. It’s for my educational development. I promise I’ll dedicate my Minister for Magic speech to you.” In all of its entirety. The campaign, the winning speech and his entire run. It was a definite plan.

Lining Wanda up near to box!Wiggles, Rooney pointed his wand, flicked it upwards and spoke..well…he said something. ”Wandaf—oooh.” Ah. That wasn’t what he was supposed to be doing. He straightened up, shoved his hands onto his face and rubbed to take away that absolute fail he had produced and the bad feelings he felt regarding Wanda and Wiggles.

And he really needed to stop naming the creatures in his magical endeavours.

His mother was a Hufflepuff. This was her fault.

Or maybe Daddy Dex’s fault, because he was the animal man in Rooney’s life.

Focused. Focused and determined. Yes. Standing tall (or as tall as he could be), Rooney pointed his wand and flicked it and repeated the incantation alongside the wand movement until Wanda TRANSFIGURED. ”Flintifors! Fliiiintifors! FLINTIFORS. FlinTIFORRRRRRRRS. Flintifors!”

… ”Hey, Wanda?”

… Why was she half worm and half box?

Momentarily, Sha wondered if she would manage to get the finite charm to work. She hadn’t had a chance to try it yet, but she had read it in one of her textbooks for this year. Raising her wand she firmly said, ”finite!” as she tried to mimic the sheild like shape her textbook had shown her. Nothing. Hmm. Fin-ee-tay… She was sure that was what it had said. This time, focusing more on the shape she drew in the air, she repeated the incantation and a wide beam spread over her lips as she once again had a worm in front of her. AWESOME. Giggling a little, she put the worm back in its container and took a mouse of out the box.

”Hey there.” She said, while stroking its head gently. ”I’m going to try and turn you into a goblet… but I promise I will turn you back… just like I did with the worm.” Nodding to herself she said vera verto over and over as she petted the mouse keeping it calm.

”Tap three times and say vera verto.” She repeated as she nodded her head. Okay, she was ready to give this a go.

Angel now had to try again with this spell, she was still upset with what had happened with her last attempt at the spell, she had been sure something would happen. "Fungifors!" Angel wanted to make sure this was right. "Fungifors!" Angel was going to say it a few more times. "Fungifors!!" Angel continued to practice the incantation. "Fungifors!!" Angel was totally happy that she had the incantation down.

Angel made sure that she had the wand movement down and when she was sure she did she decided to give it another go, she closed her eyes for a few seconds and relaxed as she tried to get all the thoughts out of her head. "Fungifors!!" Angel said as she did the wand movement and she watched as the spell worked, this was awesome and now she had to wait and see what the Professor wanted them to do next.
