If you know the password, or where the entrance is from the Secret Passage you can make your way through a portal in the stone wall of the dungeon and walk into the Slytherin common room:
The ceiling is low and the walls are made of stone, and even though they seem dank and cold, the room tends to stay at a very comfortable temperature. There are greenish lamps by black leather couches and chairs, with skulls all around. Scattered around the room are very comfy green bean bag chairs. Once you get in them you just might think you've been attacked by Devil's Snare as you find that the bean bags are almost impossible to get out of. With the common room being located under the lake, you can occasionally see mermaids, grindylows and the giant squid swim by when you look out the windows. A rug covers the floor in front of the fireplace that has a hunter green fire burning in it. The Slytherin emblem is everywhere, as house pride is one of Slytherin's strong qualities. It reminds students of what being a Slytherin means and allows them to share those feelings with others.
This is where Slytherin students are allowed to unwind, study and chat with one another. There is a room straight ahead that students may use as a quiet place to study and ask prefects and high scoring students questions. To the left, a corridor that leads to the Boys Dorms, and to the right a corridor that leads to the Girls Dorms. Beside each corridor is self inking quill and parchment with the words Attendo Thea Vipera on it. This is where you can leave a little information about yourself so your housemates can get to know you better.
On the side of the fireplace is a Notice Board for class and homework announcements, as well as general announcements. The Roster is also there for Students to make sure their name is listed and spelled correctly. Placed around the room there are four different Wizard Chess game boards. Find a partner and see who can keep their pieces from getting smashed by the opposing team.
A podium stands to the side with a copy of Hogwarts a History, which is where you will learn that even though the whole dungeon had once been flooded, nothing was waterlogged or permanently damaged.

Tired.
He was tired because of the feast last night after wolfing down SO MUCH food in one sitting. It was a good thing his school schedule for the day won’t start anytime soon. He could’ve slept in down in the seventh year dorms with the rest of his mates, but he didn’t want to waste time to prepare for his upcoming NEWT exam. He thought, if he was able to pull it off two terms ago for his OWLs while combating dragon pox, then he could ace his NEWTs too, maybe even get higher scores?
Yawning, and stretching out his arms, Ethan lazily crashed on one of the leather sofas of the common room, propped his legs on the coffee table and began to read his past Herbology notes.
It didn’t take long for his eyes to slowly close, jerking from time to time when he realized he was dozing off. “Who am I kidding...” he murmured under his breath as he pulled his hair to wake himself up.

But first he would have to head to the Great Hall, at least that's what the growling in his stomach was telling him to do.

Good Meeeeeeeeeeeeerlin, why does Herbology HAVE TO BE SUPER CONFUSING?! Ethan was slowly getting frustrated, he looked like he was already sporting a single eyebrow, as he concentrated on his notes. Letting out an exasperated sigh, he sat back and placed his notes on the lower half of his face, and succumbed to sleep.
Well, he was pretty happy about the common room being quiet and all, UNTIL somebody made his presence known. At least it wasn’t a shouting child. Ethan’s eyes fluttered open, and looked sleepily at the new student. “Oh hello there.” Ethan pulled down his notes and sat straighter on the couch. What is up with the Thomas-Borzekowski siblings, catching him asleep in likely and unlikely places? Miss Celery found him in one of the park benches back in Diagon Alley TAKING A NAP, and decided to check if he was ALIVE and BREATHING.
The older Slytherin gave Oliver a sleepy grin, and scratched the back of his head. “I do. We do.” He said nodding to him. “At the very bottom of the pit actually.” He added pointing to where Oliver emerged. The seventh years get to have the whole level to them, did he know? Well, he will know...after six more terms in the dungeons...unless he finds a way to sneak in? “How was your first night in your dorm? Did you sleep well?” Did he not cry for mum and dad?

Being so happy that she would be able to fully relax soon, all comfy in her bed with a good book and Klein. Making her way through the entrance she found the first couch she could find and she plopped right down on it. Making a sound as she hit the couch, she started to cough. Echo must of hit it pretty hard because it ended up knocking the wind out of her. "im okay....... im okay" she gasped out to catch her breath.
Note to self, dont just throw your whole weight on a couch, you might not be able to get back up.

It occurred to Olly that maybe he should not pry into this boy's business, but his curiosity got the better of him. He couldn't imagine why somebody would want to sleep in the common room. The beds sounded a lot more comfortable.
"It was okay," Olly responded with a shrug. By the time he'd gotten back from the feast it had been late and he had been tired, so he'd fallen asleep almost instantly. Oliver was not a fan of tests, and he was glad that he had a while before he had to worry about taking them himself. "How;d you do on your OWLs?" It was an innocent enough question on the surface. Now, this is one of the reasons why he slaved over his OWLs. When people ask you about your results, there is no room for embarrassment. “I did well. Took and passed all 12.” Really, he isn’t bragging. He’s just proud that he was able to pull it off with sheer determination, thinking it wasn’t possible. Now though...after one year of rest, he’s back in the game preparing for his NEWTs.
“No I don’t. I’m a only child.” He said, tilting his head wondering whether or not he’ll be a different Ethan if he had a brother or sister. “...er, do you guys fight though?” His cousins from Uncle Alden always fight each other. He never understood them, really.
The seventh year nodded in agreement, and grinned at Oliver. “You will have fun. And I like your optimism.” He said, giving him thumbs up. From the get-go, he thought Lucas, Tom, and the other first years he hasn’t met were all fun. There will always be the brooding ones though. Eh. Such party poopers really.

Tom wandered into the common room fairly late. He'd slept so well the night before that he'd slept right through his alarm. He didn't mind today, because it was the most comfortable bed he'd ever slept on and the best rest he'd ever had, but he hoped that he'd get well enough used to it that he didn't accidentally sleep through any of his classes!
Oliver and the older boy he'd been talking to the night before--Ethan, he thought--were chatting in one seating area of the common room, and Tom took a calming breath and approached them.
"Good morning," he greeted. He glanced around the otherwise empty common room. "Am I very late waking up? I was hoping to see some of the people I met at the feast last night and then maybe explore a bit."

His father had always been very strict about making Tom and his brother keep early hours--he'd always said that wasting even half an hour of daylight was the sign of a lazy mind. Apparently Hogwarts didn't follow that way of thinking. School was going to be even better than Tom had thought! He had so much food that he could make himself sick if he wanted, a super comfy bed, and he didn't have to get up at the crack of dawn! All of this went through his mind in a few moments and a brilliant smile lit up his face. He was sure he probably looked like a loon.
"Yeah, I was hoping to look around the castle before classes start," he replied to Ethan's guess, still smiling. "You're a seventh year, aren't you? I bet you know all the best spots!"

He yawned then continued. "Whichever way you think is best... I'm pretty good at spells so I mean I could do it..." He was trying to play it cool because its... the cool house... He hoped, however, that she would do it tonight because he was starting to get really tired and that could just mean disaster.... Then the girl was asking about what way he wanted it. He tapped his finger on his chin and thought about it. Snakes would be really cool... but that would look too stupid... He pouted at the thought, trying to be one of the cool kids. Cool kids probably just do streaks... so that's what I'm going to do! He gave a nod to that thought and yawned. Lucas looked up at the older snake, "Streaks probably look the best..."

Apparently Hogwarts didn't follow that way of thinking. School was going to be even better than Tom had thought! He had so much food that he could make himself sick if he wanted, a super comfy bed, and he didn't have to get up at the crack of dawn! All of this went through his mind in a few moments and a brilliant smile lit up his face. He was sure he probably looked like a loon.
"Yeah, I was hoping to look around the castle before classes start," he replied to Ethan's guess, still smiling. "You're a seventh year, aren't you? I bet you know all the best spots!"
Hmm. Tom seems to be handling the boarding situation well. No signs of crying, nor did he look lethargic because of homesickness. Ethan was proud of the baby snakes. They were all doing well. “I suppose you’re a morning person like me? I rarely wake up late.” Which is advantageous of course? You get to have the best stuff in the morning.
And just as suspected, Tom has a mission. Seventh year? Ethan felt pride and sadness at the same time when he hears it. He wasn’t really ready to be a senior student. He wasn’t ready to leave Hogwarts anytime soon. The blond teen nodded, and gave Tom another grin. “I am.” And...does he know all the coolest spots? Of course he does. “And the forbidden ones too.” And trust him, they better not be caught dead in those places.
“I can spare some time for you boys.” He said as he shifted his gaze from Tom to Oliver. “Shall we go explore Hogwarts?” he asked. “And get some food along the way as well.” Because food is important.

Oliver couldn't say he wasn't impressed by Ethan's scores. But he was distracted from the subject when someone else came out of the dorms and into the common room. He grinned at the boy he'd met at the feast. "Good morning Tom," he said cheerfully. Of all the first years, Oliver had talked to Tom the most so far. And he had claimed him as a friend whether he liked it or not. Oh, were they talking about exploring?
"Forbidden?" Oliver liked the sound of that. He wanted to explore every inch of Hogwarts, even - especially - the forbidden parts. "Can you show up?" Cue large, innocent eyes of an eleven-year-old. Please? They lived there, how could there be things that were forbidden? It seemed like more of a challenge than a rule.

"Uh..." Tom looked around nervously, as if his father was going to step out of the fireplace or spring up from behind one of the sofas. "We'd better not do anything, you know, too forbidden. My father said he would bring me straight home if I got into any trouble."
Tom hoped that he didn't sound like too much of baby or a scaredy cat. He wasn't usually one, but he really didn't want to get sent home again after he'd seen what Hogwarts had to offer.

He watched her stretch as he yawned another time. He nodded, tiredly. "Yeah, I'm ready..." Lucas reached for his wand to prepare for having to do it himself. He tried to hide another yawn as he stretched a little. He rubbed his eyes, trying to figure out if he ever stayed awake this long before. He looked at the older girl and nodded.
His eyes brightened a little as she asked if he wanted her to do it. He nodded. "Yes, please!" He smiled then paused, realizing that might have looked bad and made him look stupid. "I mean..." He yawned then continued. "Whichever way you think is best... I'm pretty good at spells so I mean I could do it..." He was trying to play it cool because its... the cool house... He hoped, however, that she would do it tonight because he was starting to get really tired and that could just mean disaster.... Then the girl was asking about what way he wanted it. He tapped his finger on his chin and thought about it. Snakes would be really cool... but that would look too stupid... He pouted at the thought, trying to be one of the cool kids. Cool kids probably just do streaks... so that's what I'm going to do! He gave a nod to that thought and yawned. Lucas looked up at the older snake, "Streaks probably look the best..."

He beamed as she agreed to streaks.
He nodded as she asked if he was ready. "READY!" He beamed, tiredly. Lucas sat still as he watched her mess with his hair. His smile grew as he saw a part of his blonde hair turn green. His eyes widened in excitement and wonder at it as he tried to memorize the spell. Colovaria...Colovaria....Colovaria... Lucas focused as she did the silver. He bounced a little. "YES! That looks so cool!" He checked himself out in the mirror and did some "cool boy" poses.

Okay, maybe it wasn't a good idea that he told the boys that he knew about the forbidden ones too. Well, they are first years, so they don't know exactly where those are located, so he was, technically, still safe and cannot be held accountable for, in case those two children decide to explore it on their own.
He also didn't miss the hint of excitement that came from Oliver. Now, was he turning into a Gryffindor? He hoped not. "I can show you...but we will not explore it." Or maybe, not show him at all? Hmm...

His father wakes them up at dawn? Ethan wanted to know why a parent would do that. Now that Tom mentioned it, the seventh year realized how lenient his father is. Sure, he wakes up early in the morning, but not that early. Just the right amount of time for him to get ready for the day, and not be late for school.
Now, Ethan approves of the newcomer. "Of course we will not do anything stupid. Just a good look around the school so you know which is which." That, coming from a former prefect. "No professor would like to have their students, new or not, coming in late for class you know." Because coming in late meant points deduction.
...
Well, it looked like all of them were ready to explore. With a grin and nod, Ethan got up from his seat, towering over the first years, and gestured them to follow him. "Let's move out, young warlocks." Ethan headed out for the door and into the Slytherin Corridor.

Hady laughed quietly. "There's no doubt in my mind you'll do just that in the morning." And there wasn't. There was just something about this kid that she liked. If she had a little brother this is what she wanted.
Little snake was getting the nod down. Nice work. The fourth year smirked watching him check out his hair." "Of course, nothing less then wicked would do for a snake." Hady laughed quietly at her new nickname. "Sounds good to me. Most people though just call me Hady though." Which was her name of course. Big Snake was good though and if it was him calling her that she'd answer.
