In the corner of the Slytherin Common Room stands a tall cork bulletin board. Any parchment that touched the cork is magically affixed on it by the self sticking charm it posesses. Here is where you may post class announcements, homework or anything else you think the great house of Salazar Slytherin would do well knowing. And remember...
We're Slytherin, told it's a sin
A House no-one worthwhile's in.
What dung, what rot, what utter tripe
A rather silly stereotype.
Slytherin's for those with brains--
Yet not ashamed to work for gain
Slytherin's for those quite brave
But not to the point of an early grave.
One learns quick and well in Slytherin
How to thrive and how to win.
We're clever, ambitious and maybe mean--
But hey, we get to dress in green.
Cross us and get curse-whacked
A snake never gets side-tracked
We're Slytherin, it's all the rage
Don't stick us in your 'good kid' cage.
You'll think of us as model tykes
But prone to lies, and quick to bite
Let everyone else mutter and glare
We're Slytherins, so we don't care.
Now let's be frank; Slytherin rules
We're the rebel house, the house of cool
Trust only those who are already in,
Too bad all houses aren't Slytherin.

Help clean the laboratory and classroom
Help redecorate my office (3 posts)*
Help brew some potions
Help another student with potions

Motivate me to do some sport*
DO the sport with me (3 posts)*
Do a divination or an arithmancy reading for me and either owl it, or visit me to explain
Text Cut: OOC-please read!
OOC: What is this?
This is this term's extracurricular potions activity to have more student-professor interaction. These are completely voluntary things your characters can do to earn something (points, free potions, books or other).
Two posts per activity will be enough (except those with "(3 posts)"), but you can do more!
Once you are done, you can PM/IM/VM me the posts.
You can work alone, with me (as long as my RL schedule allows it) or with someone else! The ones with a * do need Culloden's active participation, though, and I'll try my best to go by your schedule.
Apart from these, I'll throw random posts at school threads as much as RL allows it. Hope to RP with you!
Also, the next camp is open (see the post before this one) and there's an Ice Painting game that needs older and younger student pairs here. Grab a partner and go post together so we can win!
Just a reminder that the five winners who accumulate the most points through these camps get some nifty prizes!
Take the items from your lunch that you would want to use as a part of a compost(preferably not one we discussed in class ) Do you think they would have more carbon content or nitrogen? And if you used them together in a compost, what would the overall content be, carbon or Nitrogen? Do you think this would make a good compost on its own? Why or why not?
OOC: List five lunch items and guess whether they are carbon concentrated or nitrogen based off of what we went over in class. Those can just be in a list. In a paragraph, tell us if the compost overall would be carbon or nitrogen rich and whether it would be a good compost on its own. These can be PMed me as per my homework regulations.
OR
⚘ Option Two ⚘
Worth: 10 points
Located in Greenhouse #1 (Where we had class) there are enough crates of compost for each student to have their own. Pick a crate, label it with a card provided to you in front of the crate, and begin your work. For this task, you must use either your hands OR the spade next to the crate to dig in the compost and try to decipher what is IN this compost. It was freshly made, so no worries about any decomposition. Write down what you think is in the compost on the index card, and whether the compost is nitrogen rich or carbon rich. And oh, when you’re done—do me a solid and see that bucket of worms in the front of the room? Kindly grab some worms and place them in the compost---oh, and why don’t you water the composts, too, while you’re at it? Please and thank you!
OOC: OKAY so four posts for this to count for full credit. You can make up what kind of compost your character digs in—be creative and have fun! I don’t much care how you separate the tasks into posts, as long as all of the components Paul has asked for are there. Title your posts and PM them to me as per my homework regulations.
⚘ Extra Credit ⚘
Worth: 3 points
Save a few of your every-day wastes in a tin and place them in the recycle bin outside the garden. This will require only one post, but include at least five materials you have placed in the bin.
OOC: Post this post in Paul’s garden, assuming there is a bin there for the containers. <3 PM this post to me along with your homework.
This is due October 28th, 12 AM CST (so, the night of the 27th, but midnight technically the 28th OR 5AM GMT October 28th
Note: Do not do both homeworks. You will not get credit for both homeworks. Choose one or the other.

In class we talked about giants, choose a famous giant or half giant from history and do some research on them and answer these questions: What made the giant/half famous? Did they have any special characteristics? (this could be anything from appearance to how they acted) Is there anything else about you chosen giant that you think i should know? Why did you choose them out of all the giants throughout history?
Ooc: Remember to site your sources and write in your own characters words and not just copy it off.
Option Two: Worth: 10 points
Make a picture in paint or using a graphic program of your choice of how your character think a giant looks like. Use the knowledge that came up in class about how big giants are, how they look etc and incorporate that into your picture. Malkins graphics rules apply eg nothing bigger than 450 x 200 pixels in height and width and the weight of the image can't exceed 60 KB in weight and save it in your own image bank.
Extra Credit: Worth: 5 points
Half giants are seen as outcasts and are sometimes even ridiculed by both their own kind and by wizards why do think that is?
And lastly: What would you like to discuss/do in our second lesson of the term?
Note: Do not do both homeworks. You will not get credit for both. Pick one or the other. Extra credit you can do regardless of the option you choose.
This is due latest on October 28th, 11:59 PM GMT. PM all homework assignments to Professor Helena. Further homework guidelines can be found here.

-Having a dress-up tea party (imaginary tea, of course)
-Playing zoo (pretending to be animals)
-Pretending to be in a rocket and flying off into space (imagine you're an astronaut)
You may use the furniture, clothes, and anything else you've got in your possession to help with this, as well as the props found in the trunk outside Moxley's office! Please return props when you're done!
Due:November 2, 2015 by 10pm EST
OOC:5 posts for full credit! You do not need to RP taking things from the prop trunk. Just pretend you have, if you want to say your charrie used items! Please make sure you're familiar with how to submit homework! <3

Transfiguration Homework Two
Activity: Try, again, to cast a spell you know well, preferably a Transfigurative spell. Now try playing with these things (posture/form, wand movement, pronunciation, focus etc.), For example; try it with good form/posture and good focus, but saying it incorrectly. Try saying it correctly with good form but not focusing etc. See what happens and reflect on the activity by answering the questions below.
Question 1: Why is focusing on a spell so important? What are the results if poorly done?
Question 2: Why is the correct pronunciation of a spell so important? What are the results if poorly done?
Question 3: Why is correct form/posture and wand movement so important? What are the results if poorly done?
Question 4: How can you improve your spells by using the techniques we practiced in class (stretching exercises, verbal and focus exercises)?
OOC: Homework Due in 2 weeks (Saturday 14th November at 11:59PM GMT). Please read the guidelines regarding homework submission.
Your activity post only needs to be one well formed post, however if you would like to do more than one post, go ahead. You can work in groups or solo. If you have any questions, please PM me.

Care of Magical Creatures Centaurian Seminar H O M E W O R K
OPTION #1 : written
What human rite of passage or tradition (wizarding or mundane) would you pick to have centaurs participate in to learn about your species and why? 5 inches.
OOC: two solid paragraphs
OPTION #2 : graphic
Create a public service announcement by means of poster making to promote magical cooperation between our two species. Use what you learned in the seminar along with what you know of history as the basis for your illustration.
OOC: original hand drawn and digital artwork is acceptable
Only do ONE of these two options for credit. Doing both will earn no more more credit than doing just one but will impress me immensely.
Due: Thursday, November 12th @ 11:59 pm Eastern Time
this assignment is worth 15 points

For those who want to watch, stands have been set up along the Tournament Hall. Don't worry Duelers, you won't be able to hear or see your fellow classmates, so there is no worry of a distraction.
------------------------------ OOC: Each duel must be completed by no later than November 20, midnight GMT-6 (OOC).
Also, if for some reason you cannot complete or start your duel, please let both me and your partner know. We will work something out.
Note that magic points have been reduced during this duel. This is, yet another trial run, as first duels seemed to have a bit too much magic
Also, if you participated in the DADA Class #2 and the homing spell, you may now use that in your duel
If you have questions, please ask.
