The class is the same with the proper chairs with soft cushions to sit and lean back on, and they are still are charmed to take the most comfortable shape and height once a student is seated. The walls are still a soft, calming blue. There are one big, grey rubbish bin by the door and a white, porcelain washbasin with a tap for those who wants to wash their hands before/after the class and who can't perform 'Aguamenti' charm.
Before you enter the room, however, you are greeted by a big, red, sparkling heart hanging from the door and brushing your hair as you pass under it. You can't decide if it's horrible, embarrassing or both. Touching it brings good luck... says your professor.
The door is open 15 minutes before the class time. Professor Culloden is nowhere to be seen, and his table is completely empty for... y'know, whatever you brought.
OOC: If you are going to RP your characer use the washbasin or the bin, you don't have to take Cosgrach's permission. Just assume he has granted it.
The class has begun, so please do not announce late arrivals but just RP as if your character has been here all along.
8 flower heads of sneezewort (seperate the petals beforehand)
8 berries of atropa belladonna
8 chopped leaves of Alihotsy (prepared beforehand)
One frozen ashwinder egg broken in 8
8 tea spoons of powdered moonstone
All the thorns of 8 roses
8 drops of salamander blood
8 table spoons of peppermint
Instructions
Prepare the sneezewort, alihotsy and moonstone.
Fill the cauldron with purified water and add the sneezewort petals
Light a fire under the cauldron and set it to maximum
Add the heads of the sneezewort
Stir 8 times clockwise with a metal stick
Add the berries of atropa bellandonna one by one
Sprinkle Alihotsy leaves in a circle in clockwise direction
Wave your wand. The colour should turn to dark red
Wait for 25 minutes for pewter cauldrons, 13 for brass and 8 for copper
In the meantime, break the egg into 8. If you break it into more pieces accidentally, get another egg.
When the time is up, add the egg parts
Stir vigorously clockwise with a metal stick until the colour is purple
Sprinkle the moonstone in the middle of the cauldron
Throw all the thorns in quickly
Add the drops of salamander blood one by one: with each drop, observe that the potion turns to its distinctive mother-of-pearl sheen.
Add the peppermint spoon by spoon. Stir clockwise with a metal stick slowly until it dissolves.
Wave your wand again.
Put off the fire when you see the spiral steams and smell its aroma.
Extra notes
Love potions cause a infatuation or obsession for the brewer or the first person seen. Amortentia is the most powerful of them.
The duration of the effects (usually up to 24 hours) vary depending on factors such as the weight of the person drinking the potion and the attractiveness of the person with whom the potion is supposed to make the drinker obsessed. The effects wear off naturally over time, but can be renewed by administering further doses of potion. Therefore, there is no overdose.
The effect is near instantaneous: the drinker appears "pale and sickly" and becomes obsessed with the brewer or the first person seen and excited or dangerously unstable towards others.
A hate potion can cancel out love potions and vice versa. There is also a proper antidote.
The brewer doesn't have to be present for the effect if it's that sort of love potion.
The drinker does not forget what he or she did while under its influence.
Love potions mature over time; so the longer it is kept, the stronger it will be.
Amortentia's characteristics are a distinctive mother-of-pearl sheen and spiral steams. Its aroma is different for everyone and reminds each person of the things that they find most attractive, even if they don't acknowledge or are unaware of their fondness themselves.
The smell of Amortentia can change as you see new things and people.
Life advice from Blaise Bellaire: You should NEVER give a love potion to a girl who's bigger than you and throws a harder punch 'cause when it wears off she'll remember everything and beat the living Circe out of you. It causes strong dislike after.
While Zander and Cinna both got smiles at their arrivals, Sophie kept on working on cleaning all her materials and laying them out in front of her as she normally did, getting eeeeverything all ready to go for class. By the time Culloden arrived, she was all finished, and she gave the man a thumbs-up at the sight of him.
SEE. SHE WAS FINE. ALL FINE. THIS WAS GREAT.
Not great enough for her to go get herself any of the sweets the others had bought. Didn't trust a single one of her classmates to not have tried to prank Culloden.
Amortentia, eh? Curious, very curious. Were they really gonna get to brew it? Would that mean she'd get to find out WHAT IT SMELLED LIKE TO HER? Was it going to smell like Zander? Or baked goods? Probably some sort of food. She did love food very much, everyone knew that, so that had to be something she'd smell in its vapors.
Attentively, Sophie listened to a few of her peers' answers, considering what to say, but simply snorted at Blaise's response, grinning massively at Culloden to see HIS response to that. Haaaahahah. Everything was SO FUNNY, WASN'T IT?

That heart was ridiculous. Wasn't valentine's day over already? But the young lioness didn't comment anything and kept silent until the class started and left the muffin on his table.
They're gonna brew a love potions? Ooooh... That's.. Obvious, and kinda interesting too. Ava raised her hand and answered the question. "Too much love will kill you, sir." Yes, she quoted a muggle song lyric.

Ewwwww hearts and love and amortentia?? David was NOT looking forward to this one. He would have skipped class if he could have. And now he was regretting putting out that big bag of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans for everyone to share. Dang it. He did pick up a rice krispy treat though before retreating back to his desk.
So uh, what could he say about love potions that hadn't already been said? Nothing. But he did have questions about it, and they should count. "What does Amortentia smell like to you, Professor? Can the smell change throughout a person's life?"

Yeah you know what else sweets and sugar did to you? Give you bad teeth. So like in every other class, Yoongi remained seated in his seat while he waited for the Professor to tell which potion they were going to work on today.
Amortentia? He vaguely knew that name...oh right, it was the love potion. He had only been in love once. During his fourth year in Charms school. Ah he had had the biggest crush on the top sixth year elisabeth. Ah the memories~ she never knew he had a crush on her though. Merlins Beard if she ever found out... As for here? He didn't particulary like someone at this school. At least not that he was aware of it? That was why he frowned when Norah's face suddenly popped in to his mind. Nope, just friends...he didnt have feelings for her...he thought..no?ugh this was confusing already and class had only just started. "The Weasley shop sells them" that was the only information he could give. He knew that it caused fake love or obsession but others already told that.

Ah, the Professor was present and accounted for. It was time to get started. Janelle watched as he surveyed his desk full of goodies. When Professor Culloden said that sugar was good for learning, Janelle smiled. She hadn't heard that, but if that was true, she was all in. Sweets definitely made her happy.
Janelle did not need to be told twice. She quickly left her seat and went to choose her sweet. She sat back down just in time to hear the first question of the day. Raising her hand, Janelle waited to be called on. When it was her turn, she began to speak. "A love potion doesn't create real love, but it does make the person who drinks it think they are in love. That can be bad because people do stupid things when they're in love."
As for Amortentia, Janelle was very curious about that. She couldn't wait to actually try her hand at brewing it. She wanted to know what the potion would smell like to her. Only time would tell.

As more people entered the classroom, Paulina sent them smiles and waves. Maybe this lesson wouldn't be too bad, heart aside.
Professor Culloden had arrived and right off the bat he told them that they could have a treat. Well, she didn't need to be told twice. Those cookies looked yummy, so she made sure to take a few back to her table. Probably for the best that no one ate her pie unless they wanted to risk getting sick.
Taking a bite of her cookie, she listened as the lesson started. Paulina wasn't sure why Amortentia didn't occur to her right off the bat, but then she wasn't exactly well-versed when it came to love potions. Her classmates were doing a great job of explaining it and she was in the middle of eating, so it was probably best for her to keep her mouth shut on the matter. At least for the moment.
Instead Paulina decided to be productive and took out her notebook so that she could take notes.
Bringing something to class and eating while answering questions wasn't the end of the world, was it? Judging by the looks on their faces, they approved of it. Hehe. He grabbed a chocolate frog and ate it while they answered.

Did his dad work in Department of Mysteries? Cosgrach was curious now, since that was among his options too, but decided to ask it after class. For now, he just nodded at the boy.
"That's right," he said and the answer showed on the blackboard.

Okay, this was funny. Quite. He couldn't help but wonder whether Blaise was talking with first-hand experience. He had to ask it after class. This was golden if they boy did manage to - ahem, this was a serious issue and needed to be addressed!
"My sympathies," he said as he tried to hide his grin, "but you should stay clear of bigger girls as a general rule." Until he hit puberty and got strong himself, but he couldn't discuss THAT in the middle of a lesson.
"Sure, take as many as you want." As long as... he left some for the Professor. Blaise WOULD leave some for him, right?

Adi grinned at Benny. They were right on target with their answers. Of course they were. Now the Hufflepuff focused his attention making that loooong list of notes from the blackboard. He even added Blaise's advice. Hehe. The list of ingredients (it seemed like the number eight was the lucky number of the day) and first steps were copied down afterwards.
It was time to set to work!
The sneezewort petals petals were separated then the eight alihotsy leaves were chopped with a clean knife. After also magically cleaning the mortar and pestle, the moonstone was crushed, crushed, crushed! Right! Now he had the three ingredients prepared.
"Scourgify!'' One cauldron cleaned. "Aguamenti!'' Said cauldron was filled with purified water. Annnnd in went the sneezewort petals! Yay! All done for now! Also, yeah! Well, she refused to write down that part about whatever it was that first year had said about love potions. Usually, Brooklyn didn’t take that many notes as it was, but love potions were interesting. Just because she figured knowing about them might keep people from trying to use them on her, thinking it’d change her opinion of them. Obviously it wouldn’t, and she wasn’t about to let anyone slip a potion o her without her knowledge anyhow. Even the fear potion last term had been with her permission, and after the spiders adding even more fear to the mix she wasn’t about to take one of those ever again. She didn’t like taking anything that made her feel weak. But that wouldn’t stop her from using them against others if it so piqued her interest. For the most part, she was treating t6his lesson as just information she could use though.
Either way, she hadn’t expected to be expected to take her notes before starting anything. Or to be invited to take treats, although she’d refrained from that. If she wanted any, she could go into her own bag and get her own. She didn’t need to take from Professor Culloden. She just wrote down the things she thought were important, especially the ingredients and the first couple of steps, then got to work on actually brewing. As always, her first step was Scourgifying her cauldron, even before she went over to collect the sneezewort, alihotsy and moonstone. It was one less step to worry about later, but there was still the knife, mortar and pestle to clean. She did that when she got back to her station, before she separated the sneezewort petals. Setting those aside, she applied her attention to the eight alihotsy leaves, chopping them with her clean knife before sliding her mortar and pestle over and crushing the moonstone.
Another quick Scourgify of her cauldron, then she filled it with purified water. That seemed awfully specific, but she didn’t question it. It was probably just because the potion was so specific. Regular water probably wouldn’t work the same. Either way, she carefully added her sneezewort petals once she was finished adding the water. Then all that was left was sitting and waiting for what came next. That was why she usually liked not taking all her notes beforehand. She didn’t like waiting.

Oh man. OH MAN. Love potions. Was Professor Culloden for real? She knew for a FACT that he knew all about puberty, uh huh. Wasn't it obvious then that unleashing all that love stuff on a bunch of students would end in some kind of disaster? Norah was willing to put her money on the classroom exploding or something before the end of the lesson. It was too bad, too, 'cause he hadn't even eaten any of the oatmeal cookies she'd bakes for him. Well, y'know. Tried to bake for him. They'd come out all lumpy, but it was the thought counted, right? There was no possible way they could ever taste as horrid as they had last time, which had to count as an accomplishment.
She dipped her quill in ink and began to record all the lovey dovey stuff Culloden had written on the board, looking up to read the next line and catching a glimpse of Yoongi from the corner of her eye just as her hand gave a completely involuntary spasm and knocked her ink well all over her desk. UHHHHH. Had Culloden done something to the AIR in here? It sure was feeling very strange. He was probably trying to teach some grand lesson on how dangerous love was; that sounded like something he'd do. She pulled out her wand and cast a quiet "Scourgify" on the ink-covered surfaces 'till they were all good as new, then looked up at Professor Culloden with a polite smile. Nothing had happened. Nothing at all. Just at him. Not at anybody else. Yoongi was her FRIEND there was no reason why she should feel the need to look at him during a lesson. Unless his hair was on fire or something, but that was a different story and probably much more dangerous than love potions. Plus, it was very nice hair.
Right. Potion brewing. That was going to happen. Norah skimmed her notes to make sure they matched what was written on the board (for someone who said concentrating was so important, Professor Culloden had sure slipped up in assigning the most distracting potion in the history of ever), then cast "Scourgify" on her cauldron AND gloves AND knife AND mortar AND pestle, just to be safe. She wasn't going to give Culloden the satisfaction of knowing she'd forgotten something important because of this love stuff which wasn't even relevant to her at all because she was already entirely convinced that it was going to be centuries before love became a real live thing that made her do lots of stupid things that got people on the covers of silly magazines. Nuh uh. No way. So she began by using her gloved hands to separate the sneezewort petals from all eight flower heads, only pausing for a moment to shoot a sideways grin at Yoongi (the hilariousness of the word 'sneezewort' was 786% warranting of a grin, okay?), before picking up her freshly cleaned knife to chop up her alihotsy leaves. Next came a crushing of the moonstone, which was easy peasy and especially fun because smashing things made her feel like a giant, then her gloves were shed in favor of her wand. "Aguamenti!" Aaaaaand a full cauldron. She shot one last look at Yoongi to make sure he was still alive--a noble cause, obviously--before adding all the sneezewort (HA!) petals.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
It was also forbidden? Like that prevented students from taking love potions with them right? He grinned at the thought. How many even in this class had a weasley love potion hidden somewhere? Ah it didn’t matter, what did was that he was supposed to be writing down his notes so he grabbed his pink flamingo quill, opened his notebook and began to take notes.
He was nearly finished when he heard a knock coming from somewhere beside him and curious as he is, the Gryffindor turned around to see that Norah had knocked over her ink bottle. “You okay?” he mouthed, not saying it out loud but when he saw she already took care of the accident he turned back around to continue writing his notes.
Grabbing , he triple checked his notes and blackboard, 8 sneezewort flower heads. LOL that name was funny. He turned his head to grin at Norah cause come on! Sneezewort! When he realised that the Prefect had grinned at him at the same time, Yoongi chuckled. Apparently they had the same sense of humour. Good to know…wait why was that good to know?
Shaking his head, the Gryffindor began to separate the sneezewort petals with his gloved hand. Then he grabbed a knife, cleaned it with a spell and began to chop the alihotsy leaves in to tiny bits. Another name that made him grin…what? It had hotsy in it. That was funny! The moonstone wasn’t a funny sounding ingredient though so he crushed the moonstone with a serious face, trying to focus on the potion itself. When he was done, he pointed his phoenix feathered wand at his cauldron, cleaned it with a “Scourgify” because this time he had made a note to not forget this step and re-pointed it in the cauldron to fill it up with …..purified water? Eeeh…that WAS the aguamenti spell right? Looking around , he saw what the other were doing, shrugged his shoulders and did the same thing “Aguamenti!” When the cauldron was full he added the sneezewort pedals.

Too much unrequited love.... Well, maybe? What did Ava know about love? Come on, Culloden. She's still ELEVEN years old, duh.... So she didn't comment any much about the Professor's statement. Sweet strawberry shortcakes, they're really gonna brew amortentia. This would be interesting.
After she copied the ingredients on her note, the young lioness prepared all the ingredients. She separated the sneezewort petals first, and then chopped the alihotsy leaves, and then crushed the moonstone. Once she had done with those ingredients, Ava cast the scouring charm to her cauldron, and then filled it with water. And... the petals, right. She put the petals to her cauldron.

Of course he was right, no arguments there... and as for the notes, he was taking them down as they appeared on the board. Zeke could particularly appreciate Balise's advice, it was great advice... because 'loved up' girlies could be dangerous, not only while infatuated, but definitely after the fact. He didn't need to worry about that though.
With his notes completed, Zeke set them aside and started prepping his utensils by cleaning them first, "Scourgify." And then without rushing, but working promptly, Zeke prepared his sneezewort, alihotsy and moonstone. First by separating the petals of the sneezewort for all eight heads, secondly by taking his freshly cleaned blade and chopping the alihotsy leaves before setting those to the side too... and lastly, using the mortar and pestle to powder his moonstone. He did an approximate measure of the substance before powdering a little extra to account for not measuring accurately... he would measure it out properly when he needed it.
Cleaning his cauldron in case there was any dust settled in it, Zeke then filled it with water, "Aguamenti," and followed that up by adding the sneezewort petals.

Whoa that was a lot of notes. Hady selected her usual color of ink for her self inking quill and began to neatly take down everything that was being said. The entire list made up by all her peers as well as the ingredients for the love potion and the instructions on how to brew it. That being done she pushed the parchment to the corner of her table to get started.
Setting out all the required ingredients on her table neatly first she then pulled out her wand casting cleaning charms to ensure all was clean. First she pulled on her gloves and cleaned them before separating the petals from the sneezewart flowers. Then she had to chop up the alihotsy leaves into small bits using a clean knife. After she had that finished she set it aside so she could carefully crush up the moonstone. Cleaning her dirty items she set everything aside to continue on.
With her wand she cast a simple "Scourgify" on her cauldron before using "Aguamenti" to fill it with the proper amount of 'purified' water. Now that she had water inside the cauldron Hady finished off the last step for now by adding the sneezewort petals into the water filled cauldron. Done.

Leave it to Adi to answer right after him, of course correct as Professor Culloden answered them. Was that a bemused look they got from the man? No time to dwell for other students were speaking and before long there was plenty of notes to be taking down onto parchment from everyone's answers, as well as the ingrediants they would be using for the potion brewing. Uh oh...ashwinder eggs...those could be so troublesome. Benny couldn't help the glance towards Adi.
Boyfriend would be helping make sure he didn't do anything wrong...right?
Now to begin. Sneezewort petals, alihotsy leaves and moonstone all out and the petals separated before he cleaned his knife and started chopping the leaves. When that was done, another scourgify was used on the mortar and pestle before the moonstone was carefully crushed it up into powder. That should be it for the prep work as he cleaned out his cauldron once more and was ready to begin in earnest.
"Aquamenti!" His cauldron was filled before he ended the spell. Then the petals were added and Benny awaited the professor to move them on.
Love potion? They're going to brew love potion? Why it had to be love potion? Love was not her favorite emotion. In fact she didn't believe in love. Love is for children. So when the Professor asked the class about what they know about love potion, Candice decided to just write some notes on her notebook. Speaking of notes that's a LOT of notes there on the blackboard.
And its time to brew the potion.
She put her notebook and quill aside to make room for all the ingredients and equipments she needed to make love potion. Using her gloved hands, Candice separated the petals from sneezewart flower. All eight of them. Then she moved on chopping the Alihotsy leaves. Chop. Chop. Chop. After that, using the clean mortar and pestle, she crushed the moonstone till it turned into powder.
The Gryffindor used The Scouring Charm to clean her caldron before she filled it with purified water using Aguamenti. When her cauldron was full with purified water, she added the sneezewort petals.

"Some solid advice right there, Professor." Blaise admitted with a nod as he got up to retrieve more candy. It was awful nice of him to let him have more. Lets see...what would he get?
Ah here we go!
Blaise nicked a few bars of chocolate and some lollies then went to take his seat again. He might have left his quill to take his notes while he was gone but had learned a long time ago that embellished notes and potions don't work well together so it was only after taking his seat again that he himself began jotting down everything that was written on the board.
DID EVERYONE SEE HIS IMPORTANT LIFE LESSON WRITTEN THERE!!! LOOKIT. Ahem. He was calm.
First things first, he needed a clean cauldron, which meant heading over to the sink--with his equipment too--and giving everything a fine scrubbing under the running water. Might as well, cleanliness was important for this lesson and his wand was nowhere to be seen.
Back at his table the little boy got to separating the petals very carefully so he wouldn't crush them. One by one he plucked and separated them then laid them out along the table. Next, he got out the cutting implement and began chopping the alihotsy leaves and crushing the moonstone.
One glance at his instructions told him he would be taking another trip to the sink, this time to fill his cauldron with what he hoped was purified water. There was no reason this water shouldn't have been clean so he took it back to his table and added the petals.

So yeah, Amortentia. Gwen knew enough about that to say,
Quote:
It was what Voldemort's mother, Merope Gaunt, used to make his father, Tom Riddle Sr., fall in love with him. And, the speculations were that he became the way he was because he was never conceived under true love.
Wait, had that been said already? Gwen's brain tumor had left her with short memory span issues.

They were jumping to the potion brewing already? Alright then.
Opening her notebook to a blank page, Paulina wrote down everything that Professor Culloden had recorded on the board. They weren't going to be asked to drink the potion were they? She didn't think she could handle that: being all moon-eyes over someone...and having them be moon-eyed over her.
Bleh.
Making a face, she gave her cauldron a good and thorough cleaning.
Now she just needed to take out her ingredients and clean her equipment. Looking at the recipe, she made sure to take out everything that she needed. A few good Scourgifys later and her gloves were put on (yes, she had cleaned them too). Paulina was good to go!
Caaaarefully she separated the sneezewort petals so that nothing was damaged. The alihotsy leaves were chopped with a knife and the moonstone was cruuuuuushed with her mortar and pestle.
"Aguamenti!" Paulina filled her cauldron with pure water then added the sneezewort petals.

No need to worry, Culloden. Sophie Brown was fine. Absolutely fine. Everything was fine. She was fine. Nothing to worry about. Allllll good over here, and her overly chipper smile and ANOTHER thumbs-up in his direction when his gaze fell upon her very obviously conveyed that.
TOTALLY FINE.
Amortentia to him smelled like... a CAULDRON, though? He liked the smell of a cauldron?! HAHAHA. Soph laughed when he said it, bringing a hand up to her mouth in a lame attempt to suppress her laughter, and almost raised a hand to comment on the fact that of COURSE food was one of the scents for him... but, luckily, she had enough sense to decide against doing that, and instead kept giggling to herself.
Culloden was such a nerd.
The giggling eventually subsided and she grinned massively as she copied down the notes extensively on the blackboard, copying every ingredient meticulously and considering each one as she did so - considering their properties, their uses, their effects, and how they would interact. Standard future potioneer assessments and calculations, and when she was finished, she didn't hesitate at all to put on her clean gloves and count out eight flower heads of sneezewort, separating their petals, then took a clean knife to chop the leaves of eight Alihotsy, then measured out eight teaspoons of powdered moonstone that she crushed in her mortar and set that aside, too, all in clean containers. Clean, clean, clean. All lots of fun.
Taking her gloves off, Soph cast a few cleaning charms on the things she'd used to keep her area and materials clean, then pointed her wand inside her cauldron. "Aguamenti." Nothing like the sound of fresh purified water splashing into a cauldron to wake you up in the morning, eh? Potions mornings were the BEST mornings. Always the best. The best time of all of forever. SUCH A GOOD TIME.
Stopping the flow of water, Soph did a chipper little boogie and levitated the petals she'd already prepared into the water. SHE WAS SO GOOD AT THIS.
Before she could stop herself, she was talking aloud, mostly to Culloden, though her hand hadn't raised, but did she really need to since she was sitting in the seat nearest to him at the front anyway? "Lots of number eights." Lots of them, in the WHOLE RECIPE. "In 'rithmancy the number eight represents, like, success 'n finances 'n power 'n stuff." Did he know? "M'not so sure about the money part with this, but I can see how success 'n power relate. You're essentially gaining power over someone by giving this to 'em, 'n you're finding success in making 'em display the attitude of having fallen in love with you. Not real, but they're at least acting that way, 'n a lotta desperate people would see that as success."
Completely irrelevant conversation, but she was sort of talking just to talk. Keeping her mind going. No time to stop and hesitate and dwell on anything. Just one thing after another here.
The concentration potion he had taken before hand was definitely helping. See what he had read beforehand was basically right. It was obsession. Not Love. Though Dante had no idea what love felt like. So yeah time to move on to the potion he should be starting to make. Merlin that was a lot of writing. But he wanted to stay on task and not rely on his memory since it had not helped him much in the past. He separate the sneezewort petals from the 8 flower heads he had then chopped the alihotsy leaves. This was not as fun as he thought when he was a first year. Next he crushed the moonstone.
"Scourgify"
Clean cauldron should be clean or it could affect the potion. All that was left was to fill his cauldron with purified water which he did with his wand and then added the petals.
So far so good. Right?

After Maggie had finished taking notes, she set her parchment and quill aside. Usually she would have loved this lesson but today she just wasn't really in the mood. Meh. A small lazy frown on her face she picked up her wand and used Scourgify on her cauldron, gloves and other potions equipment.
Didn't want the potion to go wrong just because she'd been negligent after all.
She then put on her gloves and took her time to carefully separate the petals from the sneezewort flower heads. Chopping the Alihotsy leaves next, Maggie briefly glanced around the room, deliberately NOT looking Dante's way but watching her boyfriend's back for a few seconds before going back to preparing the ingredients. So far so good.
Hopefully they wouldn't be expected to TRY OUT their potions once they were done.
Lastly she prepared the powdered moonstone before laying out everything next to each other. "Aguamenti." Her wand pointed into her cauldron she waited until it was filled with enough water. Setting down her wand again Maggie then proceeded to add the sneezewort petals. Okay. And now we wait.

As Professor Culloden began to add notes to the blackboard, Janelle copied them. She paid special attention to the potion instructions because she didn't want to leave out anything. When her notes were up to date, she set down her quill and began to clean her equipment. Taking out her gloves, knife, teaspoon, bowl, mortar and pestle, she began to Scourgify. When that was done, Janelle cleaned her cauldron and was ready to begin.
Janelle put on her gloves and reached for her sneezewort flowers and began to separate the petals. "He loves me, he loves me not........NOT." Of course she was kidding. Janelle had made herself perfectly clear with her "people in love act stupid" quote. She was definitely kidding. Once she had separated the petals times eight, Janelle checked her notes. Next came the alihotsy. Grabbing her eight leaves and her knife, she began to chop. It didn't say how fine the leaves should be chopped so Janelle just gave it her best guess. When the leaves looked good to her, she put them aside.
Janelle moved her mortar and pestle closer to her. Then she added the moonstone and began to crush it. This was really good therapy. Not that she was angry or anything, but it was good to know.......just in case. If you were angry, crushing something might make you feel better. Once the moonstone was properly powdered, Janelle picked up her teaspoon. She measured eight teaspoons of moonstone powder and placed it all in her bowl.
Taking out her wand, Janelle pointed it at her cauldron and said, "Aguamenti". She let the water flow until her cauldron was sufficiently filled. Then she retrieved her plucked petals and placed them in the water. While she waited for the next instructions. Janelle cleaned all of her dirty equipment. While she had time to wait, Janelle wondered what was up with all of the 8's in the ingredients list. Was there some significance to the number eight and love potions. She'd have to investigate that further. Eight, an infinity sign turned on it's side. Eight.....infinity....love......was there a connection?

MERLIN. That was lot to keep up with!
The Gryffindor began furiously writing everything down in his notes, glancing u every now and then to make sure the lesson hadn't moved on without him. He was still trying to get all the words written. And there were a lot of them. You'd think they would've invented some sort of magic for note-taking that was more reliable than those quick quote quills Blaise was so armament about.
Unfortunately though, he needed proper notes for class. Not some made up stuff, 'cause that wouldn't look good on NEWTs. Ahem.
Once everything was finally written he looked up again, setting his quill down to the side. And yes, he did see Norah knock her ink over. And he may have inwardly chuckled a bit. Ahem. Yoongi did the same thing last term and the boy nearly lost it. At least Norah didn't freak out at all. It was amusing.
Anyways, they were moving on??? WAIT. "Scourgify," he needed his cauldron to be extra clean, whilst also making sure the rest of his materials were clean as well... Y'know, incase. He then copied down the ingredient list from the board and soon after began separating the sneezewort petals. Once those were all separated he began chopping the alihosty leaves, glancing over to the people nearest him to make sure he was still following everything at a proper speed. And last but not least, the moonstone. He had to crush that up too.
Merlin. So many steps.
Taking a break from crushing moonstone, he lifted his wand to add some water into the cauldron. "Aguamenti," back to crushing moonstone. And oh, the petals. He added those into the cauldron before tackling the crushing bit.

Today the class was learning about love potions? He shrugged because he knew he was bit by the love bug for his crush on Kate. He grinned to himself and wrote down the notes his classmates said out loud. Then he saw on the blackboard what the professor wrote and it seemed a lot clearer. He began to scribble and thought some of these facts were cool. It was good to know the potion would mature over time. So basically it was good to keep it as long as possible. He was gonna TOTALLY use this on his cousin later on. Now onto the brewing aspect of the lesson. Woah there was only one question this lesson? What happened with the three question rule and then the activity? Well he might as well get his hands dirty....
He saw the ingredients on the board and went to go grab them. He saw them all at the front and then he squinted to see the directions. He nodded and began to prepare the sneezewort first.
SPOILER!!: Ingredients
Love Potion
Ingredients
8 flower heads of sneezewort (seperate the petals beforehand)
8 berries of atropa belladonna
8 chopped leaves of Alihotsy (prepared beforehand)
One frozen ashwinder egg broken in 8
8 tea spoons of powdered moonstone
All the thorns of 8 roses
8 drops of salamander blood
8 table spoons of peppermint
Instructions
Prepare the sneezewort, alihotsy and moonstone.
Fill the cauldron with purified water and add the sneezewort petals
He needed to separate the petals beforehand. He began to separate them and once he was finished he went onto the Alihosty. He saw the chopped leaves and that was all set for him. Sweeetttt. Now onto the moonstone. He got his teaspoon measuring spoon out before anything. Now he needed to fill his cauldron with water. He got his wand out and cleaned his cauldron before because let's face it, he didn't use it a lot. It was kind of dusty. "Scourgify!" and there squeaky clean! He filled it with purified water which is what the potion called for and then he added his sneezewort petals which was a lot of them. He dropped them in and waited for the next set of directions.
