| | Office of Professor Astrid Baxter
Once invited inside Professor Baxter's office you are welcomed by the soft sunlight coming in from the window. You mean it's cloudy and there is somehow sunshine? Why, yes! Professor Baxter tends to concentrate better in light environments. Don't worry, if it's an issue she will do her best to accommodate her students. There are a few flowers that decorate her office, and if it wasn't obvious, the Charms Professor is quite fond of nature. Inside her office there a few portraits that tie in with the ones in the seating area.
Her desk it typically decorated in student work as she does not make an effort to decorate with personal belongings. There is a picture of her beloved pet fish, Fabio. Speaking of Fabio, his tank is located on the left wall opposite of the windows. You can bet his quarters are protected by protective wards. Anyone feeling daring enough to touch will be automatically zapped. If Professor Baxter is feeling kind and you have proven to be exceptional she might let you feed the fish.
Come in, feel welcomed, Professor Baxter always makes time for her students. OOC: Make sure to post in the Seating Area before being invited into Baxter's office. Thank you! |

Astrid couldn't hide a small, yet prideful smile. She nodded and took the parchment. "It is no problem, Mister Adair. It is my pleasure." She was so excited. He was going to have nonverbal casting down soon. He would. And he would be successful! Despite the fact that he still felt like class went by as an utter failure, Zander was feeling a lot better now. Well at least he was feeling a lot better now that he knew he wasn't being punished or anything. And... Guess it did help that Professor B was actually pretty nice.. And willing to work with him... It wasn't all that bad. He'd have to decide later though, after actually trying to implement the practice. But he wasn't about to give up. Even though his prior attitude probably did nothing to confirm that. Zander wasn't a quitter. "I can er... There's nothing more that you need me for, right?" Merlin, please say no.
Even though Professor Baxter had proven to be a lot nicer than he had first pegged her down for, Zander still wanted to get that lesson off his mind. And sitting here in the Professor's office did nothing to help with that. Ahem.

She studied the earmuffs briefly, then turned her attention back on the boy. A thought nudged her at the back of her mind. "What's your favorite color?" Merlin forbid she changed them to his least favorite color, though, him being here asking for a color change was saying much about preference. His favourite... what was his favourite... colour?
Daxton stared blankly at Baxter for a moment, before redirecting his gaze back to the earmuffs. His favourite colour. What was his favourite colour? No-one had ever asked him that, and on the list of questions that Daxton tended to ask himself, the topic of a 'favourite colour' never ranked very highly. For some reason the question in this room, in this context, was completely unexpected, and Daxton did not know how to answer, he did not know the answer.
His brain stalled as he processed the question, trying to decide then and there how to respond, trying to decide what his favourite colour was, and did he have any at all? The question seemed to completely throw him, despite its simple nature, and Daxton found himself wishing she had asked him something easier. A science question, and history question, something about any of his favourite books. The longer he thought, the more internally flustered Daxton got, until there was a real danger that he might start appearing flustered too.
Eventually, finally, not knowing how else to respond and apparently suddenly incapable of giving a written response, Daxton closed his notebook and pointed to its black front cover. Black. That would do. The idea had occurred to him that she was asking in reference to what colour he would want the earmuffs, and black would be fine. Not technically a colour, depending on who you asked, but certainly in keeping with the rest of his dark wardrobe.
And did he feel better now that he had answered?
... No.

Clasping her hands over her desk again, Astrid shook her head. "Not unless you have more questions." Which she would guess he didn't? The boy looked ready to leave, and honestly, she wanted to devour those cinnamon rolls in her drawer. Ever since the sweet lioness had given them to her that was all she could think about.
Cinnamon rolls. Quote:

Astrid wondered if she should have just charmed the earmuffs off the bat. He seemed to be struggling with what was his favorite color. Maybe he had many and couldn't decide on one? Or maybe he didn't trust her enough to tell her. Either way, she waited patiently, shifting her gaze on the earmuffs as to give him some sort of privacy.
As the silence stretched, she began, "It's--" She stopped once he pointed at the cover of his notebook. She was going to say it was fine and she could just charm them a random color, but he seemed to have settled for one. "Perfect."
She wasn't sure if he was interested in learning the charm himself, but just in case, she took her time as a way to let him observe. "Colovaria," she spoke, focusing on the color desired as she pointed her wand at the earmuffs. When the turned black, she smiled. "How's that?"
