Professor York's door is likely to be closed, but as you approach the door, you will notice a sign.
Please knock and wait for a response.
There's no waiting area, but unless she's absent, she won't take long to answer your knock.
Once she opens the door to let you enter the Office, you will notice a large fireplace with photographs lining the top. In the cooler months, there will be a warming, crackling fire, with a supply of marshmallows for roasting. Being a sweet tooth herself, Professor York maintains a constant supply. In the warmer months, when the marshmallows don't taste as good, there will be a supply of other sweets.
One corner of her office contains a large bookcase full of a variety of books, shall you wish to borrow one, and four white leather lounge chairs with a coffee table, for any social talk. She can put the kettle on and make a cup of tea if needed, and there is a plentiful supply of tissues. Another corner contains her desk with two chairs in front, for any academic talk.
Her precious Cello is likely to be somewhere in her office, but please do NOT touch it. Beatrice is very protective of her Cello and won't hesitate to penalise any who touch it. There may be some classical music playing from her Gramophone, which helps her concentrate, and her white cat, Beamer, is probably right at her feet. Beamer loves to be stroked, so feel free to pet her.

"Good as new," she said brightly, putting it back where it belonged.
Observing Angel trying to turn the parchment into a water goblet, Beatrice just had to step in. "Angel, dear, would you like to come into my office and try on one of my things? I still have a box of mice, you could practice on one of those?" And Beatrice could assess Angel's technique, too...
Beatrice gave Angel a pat on the shoulder. At least she was trying, even if the results weren't... exactly what she had expected. There had been a third option and she hadn't thought about it, now that was a bit dumb. Why hadn't she thought to repair the vase and then put it back herself, maybe it was her muggle upbringing that once something was broken then that meant it was gone for good, like when she had played football indoor and broke her mothers vase... though she hadn't like the grounding she had been given, she was grounded for a week and it had made her realise you should never play sport in doors.

"I want you to put your wand on the desk," she said, doing the same with her own wand. "Now... repeat exactly what I say. vair-uh VAIR-toh," she said, extending the tohhhhh sound. Beatrice repeated it twice more, and allowed time for Angel to copy.
"Now," she picked up her wand and demonstrated the three taps. Tap tap tap. Then she showed Angel, putting it all together. Tap tap tap, "vair-uh VAIR-toh," she said, and the mouse transfigured into an immaculate water goblet. "Okay, now you try." Beatrice flicked her wand to the water goblet, which turned back into a mouse.

Now, normally Frankie made it a point not to visit professors at their offices. In fact, he tried his hardest to make sure that the only time he was in the presence of a professor was during class or in the Great Hall or if he was in desperate need of something. The later was why he left Gryffindor Tower and wandered around the sixth floor until he was standing outside of Professor York's office.
He stood in the corridor facing the door for some time, making sure that he was certain that this was worth all the trouble. Based on what all the Gryffindor knew about the topic, it wasn't going to be a piece of cake. The blond wasn't normally one to put an excruciatingly large amount of hard work into anything, but this was different. He had a knack for Transfiguration and was interested in the subject unlike History of Magic ... and being able to do the thing he wanted would be flat out awesome.
Yes. He wanted this. He needed this. He was willing to do whatever it took, even if it turned his brain into mush. So Frankie knocked on the door and waited.

Frankie was quite pleased that the music coming from within the room stopped and the door opened rather suddenly. He gave Professor York a pleasant smile as he entered her office and, since he had never stepped a single foot in there before, started looking around at the setting before him. Books, photos, some kind of stringed instrument, and a cat. Nothing too out of the ordinary or very shiny.
"I'm doing well, professor," he said while he looked around, just moments before he took a seat at one of the chairs in front of the desk and quickly ran a hand through his already messy blond hair. "How are you?"
The Gryffindor didn't particularly care too much about formalities, but he figured it was in his best interest to play along since he was the one that needed something. It didn't take him very long, though, to get right to business. "I actually came to ask you about something. Something that I'm very interested in concerning Transfiguration."

Dear. That was what his mother called him, when she wasn't screaming out his full name whenever he apparently did something wrong. But Frankie was going to let the dear thing slide for now. Instead the boy nodded when Professor York said that she was doing well too. Excellent. That meant the odds of things working out concerning his were in his favour so far, right?
He certainly hoped so, even if what he was going to ask for involved some pretty complex and tiring stuff. He was determined, after all. To those who knew him well enough, that spoke volumes.
"Animagi. I want to learn how to become one. You know, if that's possible and everything."

She was, after all, knowledgable and capable of the topic being addressed. He smiled up at her as she spoke, nodding his head to indicate that he understood everything about it being a long process, in addition to patience and understanding were of vital importance. All of these things this Gryffindor didn't care much for, but he was willing to make an exception here.

Frankie was still sour about not getting the joy of being an eagle or even a parrot. He could have gotten into a lot of fun situations with the ability to fly without a broom. "Lasted about three hours, I think. Maybe a little longer."

Even with everything that was going on this term and the many different things the fourth year had already taken on she was hoping to add one more. Hady couldn't get it out of her head. She'd been thinking about it for years. It was something she wanted to learn for as long as she could remember but she always assumed it was much beyond her level...until today.
Today was the day she would speak to one of her Professors about this special form of Transfiguration that she was hoping to learn. So it was with great hope that Hady raised her hand without much hesitation and knocked on Professor York's door to her office this morning. She was ready to get the talk going and maybe with any luck on her side some information or possibly even lessons. One way or another she would find out if she had what it took.

Beatrice cracked a smile, "No, absolutely not. I think it's a very worthwile subject even for those who do not wish to become an animagus themselves. However, if you do wish to, then I completely support that." It's just good to know those things. Have some sort of expectation. Frankie seemed to understand what she was saying so far, which meant he wasn't about to change his mind. She wouldn't have wanted to scare him away.
She nodded along as he explained being an animal, and let out a chuckle at his obvious distaste of being a rat. "Well... just keep hoping at the end of the process you don't turn into a rat." Ahh, Beatrice would put her hope out there for the lad. If he didn't wish to become a rat, then she would have HATED to see him become a rat. There was no exchanging your animagi animal. She was impressed with the three hours, too. "I'm glad that you said you adjusted to it okay, because a lot of the process of becoming an animagus is actually getting used to being an animal, by different means. There's a mixture of potions and transfiguration. Of course, you don't need to be gifted in potions, as you can get help from Professor Culloden, or someone else gifted in potions, or you can get someone to make the potions for you anyway. However, transfiguration is something you do need to be good at. So, my first piece of advice is to hone in on your transfiguration skills. How do you currently feel about the subject and your abilities?"
All of this talking had given Beatrice a dry mouth, and she summoned two glasses and a jug of water, and two mugs. She poured the two glasses full of water, pushing one towards Frankie, and said "Would you like a hot drink? Tea, hot chocolate?" She took a sip from her water.

There in the doorway was none other then Professor York the smile on the women's face making Hady smile in return. "Hello Professor York, I'm well thank you. How are you?," she greeted warmly slowly stepping into the room.
A quick glance around the office and it didn't take but a minute before her eyes landed on the cat. Aaawww! It seemed animals were almost always one of the first things the brunette took notice to. With a small grin she bent down and held her hand out towards the cat giving it the chance to either come to her or run and hide. She knew better then to just approach an animal that didn't know her. While she was down there waiting on the cat though she looked upwards at her Professor. "I hope I'm not disturbing you at all Professor but I was hoping I could speak with you about something."
The sooner she got to the point the less likely it would be for her to back down. Which was something Hady nearly never did anyhow but why give herself the chance to do that even if she knew she wouldn't. This was something she wanted.

However, transfiguration is something you do need to be good at. So, my first piece of advice is to hone in on your transfiguration skills. How do you currently feel about the subject and your abilities?"
All of this talking had given Beatrice a dry mouth, and she summoned two glasses and a jug of water, and two mugs. She poured the two glasses full of water, pushing one towards Frankie, and said "Would you like a hot drink? Tea, hot chocolate?" She took a sip from her water.
A stiff head nod was given in response to her saying that the subject they were discussion was one worthwhile to learn about. What little be knew about Animagi certainly did interest him, which is why Frankie was all for going through that long and tedious process. If that meant he could change his form in the end of it all and not be a rat, then it would be worth the time and trouble.
"You said it. I'm hoping for an animal with wings," he added, just as a random tidbit. "But only time will tell, I guess." Another head nod was given at that thought ... and then another about it being a good sign that he adjusted to the potion well. The blond gently bit his lip at all of that academic talk and then gave a small smile. As long as History wasn't involved, he was all-in.
"I'm not too shabby at Potions. Wouldn't say I'm the best, but I get along just fine." He did brew that Mutatio Animalia after all, mind you with just a little help here and there. "But Transfiguration is good. Probably one of my best subjects actually. Along with Defense." And he left it at that. She didn't need to know that he was doing poorly in all the other subjects (with the exception of Charms and Creatures) he was taking this term. Thank Merlin she hadn't asked about those.
Frankie watched as the Transfiguration professor conjured the jug and some glasses and mugs. "Hot chocolate, please." The chocolate and it being winter made that one an obvious decision. He hoped she had lots of marshmallows.

She watched as Hady took notice of the cat and bent down with her hand out towards it. "She's a very friendly cat, loves attention." In case she wanted cuddles or anything. Adi had certainly enjoyed some, and Beamer almost more.
"No, not at all dear. Well, come and take a seat." she said, directing her over to the lounge chair area. The less time at the desk, the better. Plus there was a fresh bowl of Bertie Bott's on the table. "Now," she said, sitting down, "What's on your mind?"

"Oh, wings? Wanting to learn to fly without a broom?" That actually sounded wonderful. She sincerely hoped he would eventually transform into what he wanted.
Not to shabby with potions? She was happy to hear that. Not that it was the end of the world if he hadn't have said he was good, but it was still a bonus. However, being good at transfiguration? Yes, that was pleasing to hear. And one of his best subjects? Even better! "I'm glad to hear that!" she said, leaning over to get the hot chocolate mix. She boiled some water and made two mugs, setting some marshmallows on the table in front; mini and regular sized.
"Now, first thing I want you to do is, obviously, keep practicing your transfiguration spells." She stood up to look through the books on her shelf, and pulled out one on Advanced Transfiguration. "Have a flip through this one. You can borrow it. There's information in there about human transfiguration, some spells allowing you to turn different body parts into that of different animals. It's always important for you to get the feel of being an animal. These spells allow you to have a feel of what it's like with different body parts, getting use to it slowly. Also, if you feel comfortable with potions, it wouldn't hurt to go back and consume your Mitatio Animalia potion again."
She sipped at her chocolate whilst giving him some time to flip through the book she had handed to him. Mmm, good hot chocolate.

Hady tilted her head upwards towards Beatrice and smiled lightly before turning her attention to the cat. Slowly reaching out to it she lightly rubbed the cats chin then the top of her head right by her ears. Hagan loved that a lot so maybe Beamer would too. "She's lovely. Hagan is an attention seeker himself, he really likes to be held." It was like that cat thought of himself as her baby or something. It was kind of cute really.
Good. Good. She wasn't getting in the way of anything. This helped her with what she wanted to talk about. With another small pat to the kitty's head Hady straighted up and rose to her seat following the older women to the chairs. "Thank you," She replied lightly sitting herself down in one of the comfy chairs. Sitting up straighter she rested her hands on her lap fiddling with the hem of her hoodie. "Well I've been doing a lot of research and reading on different forms of healing methods for creatures." From potions to charms to creams and everything in between. If it was in a book that she could get her hands on it had been read. Odds are more then once. "I was curious though about what it would take to become an animagi. I know it's incredibly difficult to learn and requires lots of focus and a long time to accomplish but is it even possible to try during my fourth year?" In other words was she to young? She had read what she could on it already. And she had successfullyrics brewed and taken the Mutatio Animalia potion. She already had permission to make the potion again since she had enjoyed it so much the first time.

He was told to stop by the office with his wand, so that's exactly what he did. For his part, this time there was no sulk on his face and he didn't seem too overly reluctant but this had a lot to do with the fact he wasn't going to an actual lesson for Transfiguration. THAT would have been another story entirely.
This was much easier and much less likely to be embarrassing. He didn't see why he needed to take his wand along with him but it was in his holster nonetheless.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
That should do it. Blaise was in no rush for the Professor to answer the door.

Did you take the Mutatio potion?" she asked, assuming she had.

Beatrice was just settling down with some hot chocolate and a freshly baked brownie, when she heard a knock at the door. She stood up, and answered, pleased to see Blaise. "Ahh Blaise, please come in. Would you like a drink or something to eat? Hot chocolate? Brownie?" anything...? She led him over to the lounge chairs, trying to make it as casual as possible.

Her cat was such a silly boy but he was he's and she didn't mind showering the fluff ball with nothing but attention. Glancing down at Beamer she smiled rubbing the cats ears still before carefully picking the cat up and setting her down on her lap making it easier to pet her while she spoke.

Beatrice couldn't help but smile at the look on Hady's face. She listened as Hady said she had experience, which, by now, wasn't all that surprising. Many of those interested in becoming an animagus had enjoyed their time under the effects of the potion. "Ahh a fox! Splendid. And how did you find that? How long did the potion have its effects on you?" And then Hady mentioned she had permission to brew it again, which was even better. Beatrice clapped her hands together. "Wonderful! Well, that will certainly come in handy."
"Oh, he is." Hady smiled. Hagan was her closest companion over the years most likely due to being able to bring him along to the castle but she enjoyed his company. "He's a Munchkin cat. My father got him for me several years ago."
Being an animal was a large adjustment but it had been a lot of fun too. There was so much she learned from just that short amount of time she had spent as a fox. "It took a bit of getting used to but once I could stand I enjoyed it. Things were much more different being a fox." The sounds and feel of the grass was a big change. So was being closer to the ground. "A few hours." Hady nodded her head in agreement. She couldn't wait to take th potion again.
