As you enter the Muggle Studies classroom, you'll note that the only desk in the room is Moxley's. Yes, the muggle studies maven seems to have done a little redecorating. Many antique looking sofas, recliners, and cozy arm chairs have been scattered haphazardly around the room, all with a good view of the brunette who is perched atop her desk, legs swinging happily as she awaits her students arrivals. She's wearing a cheerful blue smiley face sticker on her shirt, a reminder that the new rules still stand. Hopefully everyone has familiarized themselves with the routine by now.
So come on in and find a place to sit! Class will be starting shortly!

The second he walked in, he found himself in a state of surprise. Suuuuure some classes had been lax, but this, well this was something else. WHAT were they doing? Inspecting muggle furniture? Playing second hand furniture salesmen? Who knew. "Hey, Professor," he greeted, air-fiving the woman as he placed his sticker on his chest for her to see. LOOK, FOLLOWING THE RULES, MISS! The smiley face was bright yellow and hard to miss on his grey school sweater.
So... where to sit?
Deciding to plop himself down beside someone he knew, he opted for his closest option, JANELLE!
"Hey, how's it going?" he asked, flashing her a smile.
After the last Muggle Studies lesson with the Human Bowling thing, Candice almost tempted to skip today lesson. Almost. But Moxley probably wouldn't plan something like that in today class again, wouldn't she? With that thought, the Gryffindor entered the Muggle Studies classroom.
The first thing she saw when she entered the classroom was the comfy looking couches. And the Professor of course. She greeted the Professor with a polite nod and an air-fives. Sticker. She need that. She choose the expressionless sticker before she sat down on one of the comfy couches. Okay! She's ready.

From where she sat it was an easy view of everyone coming into the room. Without a sound she reached down into her bag to pull out a clean sheet of parchment and her self inking quill. Now she was ready to get started whenever the lesson began, for now though she was just going to chill out in this here recliner and be comfortable.
Hady cast Professor Moxley a content grin. Yes she was very satisfied with the days sitting arrangement. Could this possibly keep these seats rather then the usual desk and chairs? This was much more comfortable.
"Hey Adi!," she greeted warmly with a nod of her head as he entered and choose a couch. The next greeting from one of her mates was a bit unusual but she didn't mind it at all. The fourth year gave her own smile and a return wink towards Yoongi. What the wink was about she had no idea but alright then.
'Hellos' were then also sent out to both Paulina and Benny as they entered the room. Brooklyn got a smile in return also before her hazel eyes returned to the Professor again waiting for the lesson to begin.

There are some reasons why Ava enjoyed the muggle studies class.
1. The Professor is cool.
2. They're allowed to wear a non-uniform outfit.
3. Usually it ends up by playing games.
She put on her Chelsea FC jumper again and walked to the classroom. Oh look, comfy sofas were around! Maybe they're gonna have a nap first? Hehehe. The young lioness gave a high-five to the Professor and grinned widely "Hello, Professor!". For the mood sticker, she chose the blue smiley one. "Hello, Henric!" She sat to an armchair next to that guy. "Thanks for the present again. It was great!" He sent her a ticket to see a football match... A SUPER SUNDAY BIG MATCH one of course.

She sat to an armchair next to that guy. "Thanks for the present again. It was great!" He sent her a ticket to see a football match... A SUPER SUNDAY BIG MATCH one of course.
Henric snapped out of his blank state of mind when he heard Ava's voice beside him."Huh?Oh...Hey Ava,its no problem..and you got your chelsea uniform on...very nice,"he said, trying to smile a little. He had almost forgotten about the muggle football match, truth be told. He was planning to give the extra tickets to llia as a christmas gift as well...but recent events held him back from giving it to her. Henric eyes downcast again, he should face her soon too...
"No naps," Moxley squeaked, sitting up a bit straighter. Her expression softened immediately and she gave the Hufflepuff a smile. "Forgive me, but napping in here might imply that my lessons are boring and that wouldn't be nice at all! It's good to see you, Prefect Kittredge! The new seating will be explained in time!"
Norah's droopy eyelids flew up suddenly. "Oh noooo Professor, not boring. Not even a tiny bit boring." Who could even suggest such a thing? She had half a mind to clutch her chest in shock, and flop dramatically sideways on her chair, but the dramatic effect probably would've been ruined by the gigantic yawn that followed her exclamation. "Everybody knows Muggle Studies is the very funnest. See? My sticker is sooo happy." That part was the TRUTH.
Determined to prove to Professor Moxley that her class was really truly awesometastic, she sat up straight in her chair and beamed at her. All ready to go for real this time, uh huh.

Zander was READY. Muggle Studies was GREAT. Moxley was AWESOME. What could possibly go wrong?
Nothing. That's what.
Only normally for Zander Adair that meant that everything would go wrong, but NOT TODAY. Today Zander Adair would make sure everything went incredibly right. As he made it into the classroom, he could only hope that the Gryffindors actually read the rules this time. The last few times around they had been slacking. And it was real hard trying to be Moxley's favorite when the actions of Gryffindor House were a reflection on him. Sigh.
Following shortly behind Ava, Zander watched as she gave the Moxinator a high-five. And PHEW. At least that was one Gryffindor who followed directions. Meant good things, right?
Only after waiting for Ava to have her go, Zander went up to Moxley himself. "Hey Professor!" HIGH FIVE CONTACT INITIATED. ahem. Unless she was gonna fake him out or something, but that'd be totally uncool okay. "Couches are a good look for er, the room," Sophie needed to give him tips on this flattery stuff, clearly.
Speaking of which, there was an open spot on her left, yeah?

Moxley gave Nora a kind smile, wanting her to know she wasn't bothered by the napping comment, especially when the Hufflepuff prefect was saying her lessons were the funnest. Yeah, that won her over!
Spotting the last group of students hurrying down the hall, the brunette waved them in, one after the other.

Spying the a professor, she gave a hearty wave with a big grin. "Hey professor!" She called out but not too loud. She'd been called loud one too many times.
Spotting a chair she liked, Noelle went and sat in it. She pulled on the lever on the side and out popped her feet. Oh this was nice. grabbing her bag, she put her parchment book and self inking quill on her lap. She was ready!
Oh wait!
A compliment.
"I just love how fun you make these classes." Not brown-nosing. Just truthful.
"Thank you, Noelle! I'm glad you enjoy them." And because of her kind words, Moxley was willing to look past the high five thing, though she'd be bringing it up at a later time.

He chose an orange one and stick it above his Manchester United badge. He cast a small smile to a group of students he knew and waited patiently for the class to start.
"And a good morning to you, Henric!" The Hufflepuff was looking a bit down so the muggle studies professor gave an extra enthusiastic high five and a kind smile, hoping today's lesson might cheer him up a bit.

Sophie considered the stickers carefully before selecting an indifferent purple smiley.
Looking around the classroom she noticed many students whom she knew of, but wasn't super close to. Actually, she wasn't much close to anyone. Why wasn't she good at making friends? There was that Benny boy whom gave her a compliment in Herbology, but he was sitting with his friends. With a smile towards him, Sophie chose an empty seat at a squashy couch and sat down.
Class would be getting started soon, so she took out her notebook and a ink PEN. Because it was MUGGLE studies, and muggles used pens.
"You rock just as hard, Sophie!" More compliments? Moxley was totally in her glory right now. She shouldn've changed the furniture ages ago!

As he made his way to the recliners, he saw the professor and he smiled brightly and said, "Hello Professor!" and then plopped down on his recliner and wasn't gonna move for quite some time now. Yup he was comfy.
He made it on time thought that was a good thing.
"Hello there!" Such enthusiasm. Always appreciated a good attitude, Moxley did. And he'd come right in to take a seat, which was much appreciated. They were on a schedule, after all!

One of the prim stiff couches would keep her awake all class (not that she needed help), so Dot perched her bum on one of those cushions. Hadn't she been saying something? Oh! "Professor, it's just so lovely in here. Definitely sets a very specific tone."
The Slytherin prefect had quite the eye for furniture, didn't she? Moxley noted this with a smile on her face as she watched the red head find a seat. "I'm pleased you think so, Dot! I quite like this setup, too."

Mr. Adair! Moxley was amused that the Head Boy was the last one in but she'd pretend he was making sure all the Gryffindors got to her class, 'kay? That'd make them both feel much better.
"It is quite the comfy setup, isn't it? Go on and find a seat!" Moxley returned the high-five, smiled at Zander, and closed the door.
Making her way over to her desk, Moxley leaned back against it and clapped her hands, calling for everyone's attention. All conversations needed to wrap up right now because Moxley was to unload some knowledge on these Hogwarts baby brains!
"Alright, everyone, listen up! Last class, we talked a bit about pastimes. Pastimes are things people do for enjoyment. Hobbies, if you will." Easy enough to understand, right? "Hobbies can be done in the magical and muggle communities. They can also be done inside or outside, at your home or elsewhere." And preferences differed from person to person, of course.
"Today, we're going to think of pastimes as having three different levels." Turning her attention to the floating white board behind her desk, Moxley pointed them out.
Quote:
Level 1: Diversion-Hobbies to pass the time Level 2: Passion-Something we truly love doing Level 3: Sense of Purpose-Gives us a feeling of accomplishment
The best hobbies combine all three levels!
Giving the class a moment to copy those down, Moxley hopped up on the edge of her desk and got comfy, all smiles and excitement. "Now let's think about the first level in relation to little kids. Picture yourself as a small child at home on a rainy day. You're stuck inside with no magic and lots of energy. What kind of hobbies might work for a child in this scenario? A hobby that'll help pass the time. Please share just one each."
When Zander appeared as the last person to enter the room, Soph gave him a big ol' grin and patted the spot next to her on the couch welcomingly - and when he came over and joined her, she scooted up a little closer to him, their shoulders touching, and she got her materials for class settled on her lap, the big, goofy grin never leaving her face.
Life couldn't have been better with him by her side.
Attentive as Moxley began class, Soph gave a soft, pensive hum at all the pastime levels on the board. Those all made a lot of sense and she started thinking about what hobbies she had that fulfilled all three of those requirements... but then a question was posed, and Soph's hand instantly shot up in the air.
"Coloring, professor. Even for a kid with lots of energy, I think most people enjoy coloring in a coloring book, even if it's outside of the lines. It's something to do, something fun to do, and when you're finished, you have a finished artwork that gives that strong feeling of accomplishment. It's something concrete that we can be proud of, no matter how good the coloring is, 'cause it's just cool to turn a paper into a colorful masterpiece." Really, who didn't love coloring, especially as a child?

Ellery got a grin when she entered the room, of course. He didn't even bother to wave her over, knowing that she would choose to sit next to him anyway. But she looked tired. Like, really tired. Had she slept at all? He eyed her, hoping that she would not fall asleep on him during class. He did not want drool anywhere near him thank you very much.
Hey, they were talking about hobbies again. It was a good topic, in Oliver's opinion. Mostly because it was one he found easy. And it was not super boring. He glanced at the list on the board but didn't write it down. He was not one for note-taking. Ahem, yes, question-answering. That was something he could do. Oliver raised his hand.
"They could play house. It would be best if they had siblings, or friends over, but you can play house by yourself if you want."

When Professor Moxley called the class to order, Janelle looked up and directed her attention to the front of the class. They were talking about pastimes again, but this time in a little more detail. As the professor spoke, Janelle began to take notes and tried to keep up with the conversation.
They were going to talk about Level 1 pastimes and when a question was asked, Janelle's hand shot up. If she was a muggle kid stuck inside on a rainy day, she knew just what she would do. "Drawing. Drawing would help pass the time if you were bored and had nothing else to do." This she knew from experience. Janelle had spent many a day with a box of colored pencils and a sketch pad. Truth be told, drawing was something she still liked to do occasionally. It could be a level two pastime for some people.. Janelle just drew for fun and found it to be very relaxing.

Attention shifting to the front of the room when professor Moxley clapped her hands Hady folded her hands on her lap. She'd listen first and then take notes as needed.
Hobbies? Hadn't they spoken of hobbies during one of their previous lessons already? The Slytherin shifted her weight in her recliner as she listened to what was said. "Dancing. Little kids can dance around to burn off excess energy," she gave her answer as she raised a hand in the air. Not just little kids but anyone really. Like herself.

Well compared to Moxley's age we were all little kids. Sorry, Professor. It was the truth. But he got the idea. Hobbies, Pastimes, do what you love, and so on and so forth. But it did get him thinking on what he did when it was a cold raining day and he was stuck inside the house and his brother was not home. If he was he would bug him to do magic. But if he was not then he would have to improvise.
"Mattress Surfing"
What his house was big enough so he could do it.
Though his parents were usually not home when he did this because if they were it could have resulted in some trouble.

Aww, Professor Moxley was so sweet. Paulina gave her a smile. It was nice being here! She still didn't understand the strange rules, but she was going to look past that today because she was in a good mood. She gave her other friends waves as they arrived.
Soon it was time to get started!
After taking out everything that she needed for the lesson, Paulina raised her hand to answer the first question. "Finger painting is something that a lot of young kids like doing." She herself used to do it. She liked to thing that she did a pretty good job too.

Usually Phillip wouldn't move for ANYONE apart from a select few like his mum or the Minister of Magic. But upon seeing a certain Gryffindor heading his way, the Slytherin beamed and sat up to make space for the boy. First Hogwarts friends could get special treatment too. "Hey, Blaise!" he whispered to the fellow first year, smiling at him.
And then Moxley had said that it was always nice to see him. ALWAYS.
No wonder the boy was beaming from ear to ear as the lesson got started. To make it all better, they were continuing with the passtimes themes, which only made the kid wonder whether they were going to be doing anything fun like last time. Paintballing was still his number one suggestion but he could settle for waterfights and MATTRESS SURFING, like Cardboard Boy Dante over there had mentioned.
Speaking of Dante, he got an innocent smile and a finger wiggle thrown his way.
But back to Moxley. What would he do if he, as a small kid, was home on a rainy day? And it had to be one that used up a lot of ENERGY. UH. Did annoying the siblings count? Because that could burn up a lot of energy as it is, especially when the siblings put up a fight. But something told him that Moxley wasn't going to go for that one so, the first year started rubbing the end of his nose in thought.
Uh.
UH.
OH! "Playing 'the floor is lava' uses up a lot of energy and time, especially when you make it more fun by trying to take out the other person by using kids bows and arrows to topple them over."
Angel looked at the Professor and raised her hand. "When I was younger, I used to dress up and play at being a princess, using my dolls as my royal subjects." Angel really thought that it was good, and she remembered doing these sort of things as a little girl.
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
He was aaaaall grins at Phillip's greeting, grins and excited waving before the Professor caught his attention again. There was no way that was an actual question. Blaise was gonna enjoy this class no matter what. The boy had been taught to be grateful and trust him when he said he was grateful for Muggle Studies; Merlin knew what his grades would look like otherwise. He could only make up in so many subjects.
While the Professor spoke, he tried getting a little more comfortable on the chair since Phillip had been nice enough to let him sit there,
Hobbies to pass the time for little kids? Well his little sister did those all the time and made him play with her. "Hosting tea parties could be one too I guess." Julie liked hosting them a lot and if she made their mum promise to make them real tea then he didn't have a problem sitting through one with her and pretending to be fancy....so long as she didn't tell anyone afterwards.
"Can we mattress surf?" Dante had good ideas.
Yes?

Colt was so relaxed in his armchair, he was not gonna move for quite sometime. He could possibly take a nap here but he heard Moxley screech that there was no napping. Welp there went that idea. He was just relax until he heard Moxley start the lesson. He perked his ears up and heard the question about an activity he would do when he was little if he was stuck in the house. He pursed his lips and thought about what he would do with his cousins. I mean he always went over Kaces and Braedons house. There mothers were inseparable and he remembered they would play cops and robbers in their basement since they had a huge basement. Should he volunteer that info? Nah he had a better idea....
"Professor my cousins and I would play laser tag. We had these machines we could wear and we would play in the basement and it was a lot of fun." He remembered he needed to be forced to leave there and be carried by his mother.
He heard about matress surfing and he nodded in agreement with that. "If we could do matress surfing I am so in." That would be epic.

Caleb couldn't really remember what he did on rainy days when he was a kid. Usually he watched TV, because his Uncle Ben had been obsessed with muggle stuff and got them a TV for their home because he believed EVERYONE had to have one. So he'd watched cartoons and stuff, and also read comic books. He raised his hand.
"Reading comic books? That's an easy hobby for kids because not only does it teach them to enjoy reading but they also have the whole collection aspect thing to it too," he explained. Trying to get those rare comics and all that.

Back into Muggle pastimes... Evie was rather familiar with them, considering she had spent the first several years of her life in muggle London AND quite bored. So she had QUITE a lot of time to figure out what her favorite pastimes were.
Apparently, there were different levels of pastimes. She supposed it made sense, but Evie had never really thought about it before. She tried to think back to when she was a little kid and remembered a few things. "I liked to play with dolls when I was little," she said, after raising her hand. "I liked to play with their hair." Because her mum wouldn't let her play with her OWN hair or else she'd have an afro every day.

Merlin, was he really the last one in? Ahem. Could've sworn he'd left with enough time to get to class early and-- oh wait, no. He left with enough time to quickly stop by the kitchens for a quick snack before class. And that's what really happened. Aheeeeeem.
Only after sitting next to Soph and returning her goofy grin with one of his own, the Gryffindor turned to pay attention. Ahem. Merlin, he needed to start leaving for the kitchens earlier. Maybe that way he'd have time to chill out for a few minutes before class started. This was just down right exhausting.
As for the question though, he waited for others to answer before choosing to raise his own hand. Well... Honestly, the rain never stopped him as a kid. But he was pretty sure that wasn't the right answer. "I used to play with toy cars 'n stuff," make 'em race down the halls. Get them to do cool flips and watch them stick the landing. Zander was a good kid. His brothers... Their hobbies were annoying the heck out of mum.

As the lesson kicked off, Zeke copied down the notes from the board - though oddly enough he was already disinterested in the theory of play. Ugh. Did EVERYTHING have to be categorised?
...
He hadn't had much of a childhood, so he couldn't really provide examples of his own pastime activities... but there was one. Just one. Hand raised, he contributed to the discussion. "Build a couch fort, Professor, using the cushions as walls and the roof or even substituting parts with blankets and pillows." It was great fun... but the main fun came after when one had to defend against enemy fire.
Henric would play video games as always. He would be stuck in his room even if it wasn't raining outside. Yup... He only stepped outside when he needed too, besides he was homeschooled most of his childhood life and had little to no friends in his neighbourhood. His little circle of friends consisted of kids who were either lived far away, too sick or unable to go out and play with him due to their strict rules and regulations in the orphanage he often visited. His mother had to kick him out of the house one time just so he had a different hobby too.
He raised his hand to answer the professor,"I played video games when I was little...mainly to kill boredom or passed time. If not, I played family board games with my mum if she weren't too busy with the housechores and stuff."

That list of levels for hobbies made Dot very pensive, mostly because she sort of couldn't figure out where one left off and the other began. Diversions bled into passions, which became a reason to live soon enough. There wasn't a thing that Dot did anymore that she wasn't excited to be doing.
But not the point of this exercise at the moment. Dot raised her hand and waved those fingers at Moxley. Helloooooo, professor. Pay attention over here!
"Exploding Snap. And other board games. We always played Snap when I was little and it was raining out."
Norah returned Professor Moxley's smile with a grin of her own before settling back in her chair again. Alrighty. Class time for real.
As soon as the question was asked, her hand shot up in the air. OBVIOUSLY the right answer was coloring. Everybody knew that. But as soon as her hand was up, Sophie Brown was STEALING her answer. It was like she was a mind reader from all the way over there. Man. Ravenclaws really had it going for them, didn't they. With her hand back down on the chair, she tried to remember all the other stuff she did with Marcel and Sebby on rainy days. There were a whole lot of rainy days in Brighton so she was practically an expert. The only problem was that there were just SO many games she came up with, how was she supposed to remember all the details of just one?
Once enough students had answered to give Norah time to think of a better answer, she put her hand back in the air. "Playing pretend!" That encompassed most of her favorite ones, anyways. "Sometimes me 'n my brothers--I mean my brothers and I--would play dress up or prince-in-the-castle or school or pretend we were knights or horses or camels or explorers or anything else. Y'know, when we were little. And stuff. Yeah, little." It wasn't like she still played school with Marcel to teach him about Herbology or anything. That definitely hadn't happened the night before she'd left for Hogwarts. Ahem. Of coooourse not. Prefects were much too important for such things. At least it'd been years since that time they'd been playing Troll-Under-The-Bridge and she'd gotten her head stuck in the railing and they'd had to cut her out. That had to count for something.
