A large number of floor-to-ceiling bookcases fill up the library, creating aisles upon aisles of books available for students to read and browse. To make finding books for all years a little easier Mr Kitridge has divided the bookshelves into sections like romance, suspense, crime, history, plants and fungi etc.
To return books just walk up to the appropriate shelf and hold up the book. The gripping charm in place on the shelves will take a hold of the book. When you feel a tug on the book let go and the book will fly up and find its right place amongst the other books on the shelves. When retrieving a book you can use the sliding ladders or if you feel confident with your magic you can use a simple accio charm to retrieve the book you want.
In front of each aisle there is small set of desks which students can use to complete homework, copy notes, take book references or chat. Keep your voices down and be mindful of falling books and other students accessing books around you.
Oliver was sitting at one of the tables doing his magical creatures homework, he wished that his aunt was here because she worked in the magical creatures department at the ministry. He heard someone walking towards his table holding a big stack of books so he said "do you want me to help you?"
Olathe peeked over the top of her books. " Who?...me?" she asked she took a quick glance around and didn't see anyone else. "I um i think I got them, would it be any trouble if I joined your table?" She asked. it was the nearest table able and she was carrying some heavy. " note to self practice the levitation charm more." She mumbled.
Henric shook his head,"No no...you didn't scare me,I-I thought I was alone here...you see." He wasn't lying, he really thought he was. Most of the students he'd seen today should be finishing up on their studies by now, they wouldn't loiter around in the library any longer than they have to. He guessed he had reasons to stay back, he wondered if hers were the same as well? He realised Rissa had been pretty quiet since the day she got here. Had she been making a lot of friends? He often seen her around school either sitting or walking alone."Meeting someone? Oh no,that is the last thing I have in mind right now."Henric realised he had replied her a little too quickly."I- m-mean I'm not meeting anyone...I'm here to borrow some books,"he assured her. Why was she looking down on the floor like that? Had he said something wrong?
"Oh that's great, how was Hogwarts Christmas Feast Celebrations? Delicious? I heard there was a big tree decorating event here.Too bad I missed it,"he said with quite the same amount of sadness in his tone."Me? I went back home so I could help out with the preparations. My parents played host for the annual christmas community charity event this year. We set up a feast for the homeless and I came up with the idea of exchanging presents and game activities for umm..some of my little friends at the orphanage.Yeah...we had fun.All in all, it was great too,"he told her.
"O-oh. S-sorry." Larissa looked back up at him. Of course they were in a library. Borrowing books was normal. "O-oh...it...i-it just s-seemed l-like you w-were..." She paused. "...w-waiting f-for s-someone." Rissa shrugged. "I-it was v-very d-different. I..I'm u-used to h-home." Rissa raised her brow. "W-what? I...I d-didn't h-hear about t-this, t-this Christmas tree t-thing." The brunette nodded and smiled. "T-that s-sound l-like a lot of f-fun."

Henric shook his head once more but didn't say anything to counter her doubts. Maybe he did expect someone to see him...someone close to his heart. He gave her a small smile,"I'm looking for a book...actually.I can't seem to find it so I thought some other students might have borrowed it somehow."
"Yeah, its different at first but you'll get used to it...we get to celebrate christmas with friends, houseelves, Hogwarts ghosts and some of the professors here atleast,"he grinned. She hadn't heard about the tree decorating event? "Oh I thought you do, I just heard from a few of my dormmates that they have it too besides the christmas feast, of course."
"Yeah...it was, it was kind of hectic...but it was worth it,"he agreed with her.
Oliver laughed at her joke and then introduced himself "hi I am Oliver, I am in my seventh year. I was just doing my magical creatures homework". He looked at the books that she was carrying so he said "I see you have a interest in magical creatures!"
Olathe placed the books on the table as he introduced himself. " Hi, I'm Olathe (ol-thee-uh) She greeted back as she sat down across form him. " Oh these... Umm yeah sorta well hippogriffs and unicorns actually." She noticed his creatures book. " what are you working on?" she asked curiously.
"Hi Olathe, I am just working on my magical creatures homework, wish my aunt was here she works in the magical creatures department at the ministry" he noticed that she was younger than him so he asked "what year are you in?"

Honestly she felt like she had bugged him. It wasn't his fault at all, it was her fault. Larissa wasn't that great at reading people in general and when she wasn't able to really read anyone she felt as if she was bugging them. "I-is...i-it y-your book? O-or i-is i-it...u-um t-the l-library's b-book?" She questioned. She had hid a few books of her own in here. Though not together.
The brunette shook her head. She would been here next time. Maybe if she was she would feel more comfortable. "I...I...w-w-well...won't b-be here n-next t-term." She shrugged and looked around at the book shelves. She was graduating at the end of her and she was actually scared. She didn't want to be a real adult.
"S-sounds l-like i-it."

"Umm you okay,Rissa?"he asked, slightly concern for the older gryffindor schoolmate and new found friend. She looked as if she was bothered with something in her mind. Henric shook his head once more,"Nope, the book is not mine...it's the library's...I would normally keep it in the same location here but I think it may have been move again. Eh...its fine, this usually happens...so yeah...I'm just browsing through to find another book to read..I guess. What about you?"
He smacked his head,"Oh right, I keep forgetting you're a seventh year...sorry...but you're still welcomed to celebrate with us, past alumni students had done so before...I don't see why not, the professors would be happy to see them aga-"he stopped himself when he noticed her change in demeanor. "Rissa, is there something wrong?"
"Hi Olathe, I am just working on my magical creatures homework, wish my aunt was here she works in the magical creatures department at the ministry" he noticed that she was younger than him so he asked "what year are you in?"
Olathe listened as Oliver spoke about his Aunt working at the ministry it sounded interesting, and as he imagination took off for a few seconds Oliver's Aunt had a highly dangerous job in Olathe mind. but then his next question brought her thoughts crashing back to earth. "Me, oh I'm in my first year." She answered. " What about you?"
"I am in my seventh year, I would love to have a job like my aunt when I finished school!" Oliver told Olathe, he looked back at his homework he really didn't want to finish it he wanted to make more friends .

The library was a place completely foreign to him. In fact, the Gryffindor had managed to not step a single foot in the library during his four years at Hogwarts. It was an achievement that he was quite proud of and he once had ambition to make it through seven years without utilizing the place, but the times had changed now that he was getting tutelage from Professor York. It was expected that he actually do of all the work involved in the process, including the tedious research and reading.
The place smelled of Ravenclaw. It was the perfect environment for studying, smelled of old books, and was way too quiet. Frankie didn't like it one bit. A fleeting thought about livening the place up a bit ran through his mind, but the Gryffindor decided to save that for a different day. He was on a mission to get what he needed and sneak out. No one needed to know that he had been in such an uncool location.
But his library trip was talking longer than anticipated. It didn't help that Frankie had no idea where he was supposed to be looking for books on theory. So the blond simply wandered in between the bookshelves, waiting to see the words Transfiguration or Animagus pop out at him. So far, no luck. And he had a gut feeling that he had walked by this row of books before... Sigh. The struggle was real.

Larissa nodded and gave him a small smile. "Y-yeah. I'm g-great." She was great but she was also telling a little white lie because she didn't know what was wrong with her right now. Rissa nodded. "Oh...I hid...a...a f-few b-books a-around h-here too." She had more that a few that had the same hiding spots.
The seventh year shook her head. "I...I f-forget t-that I'm a...a s-seventh y-year too." It was true, she felt like she was more of a fifth or sixth year or sometimes a first year because she had never been here before. She knew that it was possible for her to come back and visit Hogsmeade on the weekends that Hogwarts students were there but Larissa hadn't even gone to Hogsmeade yet. This next part she really didn't want to admit but it was true. She mainly didn't want to admit it to herself.
"I...w-welll I'm a-afraid t-to graduate."

The library was a common place to find Hady. She wasn't her daily or even every other day she was here quite often. Mostly looking for books on certain interests or something for homework. Though there was that occasion when she just didn't want to be bothered back in the common room where she would come here.
Today. Today was one of the days that she was looking for something. Books pertaining anything that had to do with the healing of creatures AND help on casting a Patronus...with a bit of animagus info tossed about in there. Whatever looked interesting or could help her was going to be read. That was the way it always was when she put her mind to something. The more she was able to learn about it the better.
Kneeling down in front of one of the shelves, a stack of books already set down beside her foot Hady ran a finger along the spines of the books in front of her. Where was it....where was it. It was here and she knew it was. She'd seen it a few minutes ago but for some reason hadn't pulled the book from the shelf just then. Now she decided she wanted to read it and had turned back to get it only she was having some trouble locating it once again.

Still wandering through the labyrinth of books, the Gryffindor realized that he was in the History section of the library. Had he been paying better attention to the titles earlier, he would have saved himself a lot of wasted time walking up and down these shelves of boring, old, smelly books. This was one of the last sections of the library he wanted to be in. There was not a single bone in his body that cared for the subject. So he quickly slipped out between the shelves and made a beeline for the next set, hoping that he'd have better luck there.
Potions ... Potions ... Potions ... Runes ... Runes ... TRANSFIGURATION! So paying extra attention to the titles did work. Frankie grinned, having succeeded at his library search all on his own, as he focused on the books on the topmost shelf. That had to have been were all the good ones were, right? Only the adventurous would need something from there, and he figured the most important books were always up high away from little dirty first year fingers.
The blond sidestepped as he eyed the books above him, completely oblivious that there was someone kneeling in front of the shelves nearby. Because he didn't hear anyone, he figured that no one was there. Needless to say, it was quite a surprise when his foot made contact with a stack of books, which had now all fallen in a messy pile on the floor. Who in Merlin's beard left random books lying about? Didn't whoever it was know that was a safety hazard? When he looked down from the top shelf to investigate, he saw that he wasn't alone in this row of shelves. "Oh. Hi, Hady. Umm ... bit of light reading?"

Where was it, where, where where! Why couldn't she find the book. Groaning quietly she rose to her feet to cheek a higher shelf. It was possible the book she wanted was up higher then she had thought.
Fingers grazing lightly over the bindings of each book on the next shelf up over her head Hady didn't hear anyone come down the aisle. At least not until all the books she had stacked nicely crashed down to the floor startling her. Whirling around, her hand quickly moving to her wand she let out a breath when she saw who it was. "More like re-reading really but I suppose so." She sighed quietly pulling her wand out and with a small wave and muttered word the books were stacked back up on the floor. "Are you looking for something?" Odds were she might know where it was if he didn't.
