Adi wanted to check on those plants that decorated the corner of his Common Room. Really, it was a great idea for the Puffers to have a garden here given that their corresponding element was earth. "Hallo, hallo,'' he greeted the greenery and colourfulness. "Looking good, did you guys know?'' He began humming, not just for himself but for the plants too. The idea that plants enjoyed music as well stuck with him thanks to Professor Myers.

It looked like practically all of the plants were taken care of which was good. Maybe the Puffer should plant something to plant the time then... but what? Hmmm.

One of Paulina's favourite areas in the castle was the little garden in her common room. How cool was that?? She didn't think that the other Houses had gardens. That was the thing about Huffelpuff though...it was more EARTHY than Gryffindor, Slytherin, or Ravenclaw. Part of why she loved being one.

Heading over to the workbench, she saw Adi humming away as he spoke to the plants. So she was not the only person who did that. "Have you ever sang them a song?" she asked curiously.

Hum, hum, hum!

Adi was really sure the plants would like the humming. Hmmm? Has he ever sung to them? Before he answered the question, he turned towards the voice asking it. "Heya, Polly! Nope, I've never sung to these. Only the ones in Myers's Greenhouse.'' The seventh year grinned at his friend. "Don't you think it's awesome that we have our own garden here?'' He certainly thought it was!

"Have you planted anything yet? I was thinking of doing that. You know, to leave something behind after I graduate.'' Because Aditya Rehman was a LEGEND to Hufflepuff House. Mhmmm. He DESERVED to be remembered and his name to be known to future Hufflepuffs.

Smiling at Adi's greeting, Paulina waved. He seemed to be in a good mood, but when didn't he? She honestly didn't know how he managed to have all that energy all the time because it would have seriously tired her out. "Oh, well I'm sure they would love to hear something from you." Maybe she could sing to them as well, but it would have to be when she was alone. "I think the garden is wonderful. Is it new or has it always been here?"

"I've planted a few things, all mundane so far. I'm hoping to do more before I leave." It would be so cool if she could plant a tree but she didn't know if that would be allowed. Would be a cool Herbology lesson though. "Are you looking forward to life after Hogwarts?"

Oh, yes! These plants would no doubt WANT to hear his awesome singing voice. Mhmmm! But he had an even better idea! He and Polly could sing together! "What song's your favourite? Maybe I know it and we could sing it together.'' If not, they could find something they both knew instead. "Nope, it hasn't. It's been added for this term.'' Which was totally cool in his opinion.

"You could ask Myers if he has seedlings of harmless magical plants so you can plant them here,'' the boy suggested. Harmless ones because of course he wanted no harm to his Puffs. Especially his baby ones. "Oh, yeah! I am!'' Adi now sat in the ground, not caring about getting dirt on his clothing. That could be cleaned off later. "I'm going to be working with creatures so nothing could be better.'' He fidgeted with a flowering plant, absently plucking at dead leaves and petals. "I suppose you'll be off travelling looking for exotic plants?"

What song was her favourite? Paulina wasn't sure if she had one. "I don't know," she admitted. "I like a lot of songs. I think plants like something that makes them feel relaxed and happy." At least that was the way she saw things. Death metal for instance would probably be way too harsh for them. "And I'm not sure if you want to hear me sing." She bit her lip. "Oh, that's perfect then! As if it was added for me." Except not really.

And she DID like his idea. "That would be great. I'm sure he wouldn't say no as long as they weren't fanged geraniums or the like." There were loads of safe magical plants out there just as there were loads of safe mundane plants. Smiling, she put on her gloves so that she could water the plants. She'd use her wand even though she preferred watering cans but it was still a good idea to wear gloves.

As she worked she listened to Adi talk about his plans for after school. "That sounds like loads of fun. I'll be traveling, yes. Or at least I hope to be!" It would be so cool if she discovered plant species.

Gosh! Paulina was like him in the way of not being able to choose her favourite song. "Anyone who can choose their favourite song easily obviously has their life in order,'' said Adi, quoting something he had read online over the summer. "Yep, I agree there! But I bet they don't like lovey dovey, mushy stuff. Most of them told me they love rock music.'' Hehehe. "Oh, come on! I do! I'm sure you've got this great voice.'' As for the garden. "This makes sense! They somehow knew that future Herbologist Paulina Holiday was on her way so they got this ready for her.''

Awesome! Polly liked his idea! "I could go with you and we could see what he has.'' It would be like leaving something behind for the other Hufflepuffs from the two of them. "Any ideas as to what you might want to plant here?'' And on the topic of careers... "You're going to University first, though?"

Shaking her head, Paulina laughed at the comment about people who have favourite songs. "Got that right. It's hard for me to make my mind up about a lot of things." She didn't generally do favourites because so many things were equal in her mind. "I can't imagine plants loving romantic music either. Maybe the Mandrakes when they are teenagers with their hormones going crazy." They could be hard to deal with at times. "Okay, how about we play rock music and pretend I'm singing?" Did that sound good to him? Because it sure did to her! "Maybe Professor Cassie saw it in a crystal ball!" That would be cool.

"That would be amazing. I was thinking I might plant Puffapods or something." The matter would need a little more consideration first. "Yep, university first. There is a lot more that I need to learn!" One could always learn more about plants.

"But you've made up your mind about Herbology though,'' Adi said cheerfully. Indeed Polly had. The romantic song reply had him laughing. Hehe. Polly was funny, wasn't she? "I agree! And for those rebellious ones, heavy rock and roll!'' Cue him headbanging and doing the air guitar! "Yes, let's do that! We're all waiting to hear Polly's awesome voice.'' He bounded over to stand more among the plants. "Polly, Polly, Polly!'' Just like a concert where fans cheered for the singers.

Puffapods! YES! These would be perfect! "Great idea! And they're easy to plant.'' But on the topic of further education. "So true. Benny and I are going to study Magizoology at the Edinburgh campus.'' Eeep! Adi was looking forward to this! Time with his guy bestie AND studying creatures? This badger wouldn't say no to that!

"Yeah, I have," Paulina agreed with a laugh. "THAT wasn't a hard decision to make." Plants had a way of calming her and making her feel more grounded. They had really helped her when things got harder at Beauxbatons. Soooort at the air guitar and headbanging, but she was NOT going to sing. "How about YOU sing and I play air guitar?" That was ONE kind of guitar she should be able to master.

She nodded as he said that puffapods were easy to plant. "Do you plant many things?" she asked curiously. He didn't strike her as being in love with Herbology, but he must like the subject at least a little if he enjoyed singing to the plants. "Are you guys going to work together?"

"I shouldn't think so. Especially when you're good at a subject, you just want to stick to doing something related to that.'' Adi knew exactly what Polly was talking about. In his case, he wanted to do something both in the field of Magical Creatures and Potions since they were his best subjects.

"Trying to escape, huh?'' he teased his friend. But he couldn't resist. He WANTED to sing LOL. "Sounds like a deal! What do you want to hear, mi lady?'' If he knew the song, he would sing it! The plants AND Polly would enjoy it to the max, he was sure.

"Herbology's not my thing so nope, I don't. I only do it when I have to which is only at Hogwarts.'' Yep, not even at home did he ever plant anything. "So, did your parents make you a greenhouse yet?'' Adi could see Polly waltzing around in one of those as she sang to her plants. The mental picture made him grin. "Yep, we plan to. With as many magical creatures as possible but mostly dragons and hippogriffs.'' What fun awaited them after Hogwarts!

It was nice to hear that Adi knew where she was coming from with the Herbology thing. Some students didn't feel particularly attached to ANY subject, deciding to pursue something something else entirely - like Quidditch. It was nice that someone understood. "Exactly. I want to do a lot of exploring and try to discover new plants." There had to be at least some of those out there; it was a wide world after all.

"You caught me," she added with a laugh. She wasn't afraid to admit that it had been her plan. "Do you know any upbeat songs? Something that would make you want to tap your feet?" She wasn't sure what Adi had stored away in his repertoire. Maybe he would surprise her with something nice.

Interesting that he wasn't particularly into Herbology but seemed to like playing music for the plants. Maybe he just liked having an audience. "So you have no interest in gardening?" Paulina knew that it wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but she really enjoyed it. Maybe she could design and prepare a lovely garden for him some day. If he wanted her to, of course. "That sounds great. You two have a really deep connection." She had noticed it months ago; they were inseparable.

Adi grinned as an idea occurred to him after Polly spoke. ''Maybe you can name a plant after me.'' Hehehe. Just his little suggestion but it didn't sound half bad to him. "But I'm willing to share a name if you decide it to name it after you.'' This guy and his ideas... don't mind him, Polly.

"One of the Power Rangers theme songs!'' Woops. Adi had blurted that out almost instantly and without any thought at all. He wasn't even sure Polly knew what Power Rangers is. He tilted his head. "You ever watched that?''

Adi shook his head. "I don't really but I don't mind digging for worms!'' That was fun to do! And he suddenly had an idea. "Hey, remember there's that notice that went up where Culloden asked us to get some ingredients for potions and those other activities?'' He gestured at the garden. "We don't have to go to the Greenhouses or outside. I'm sure we could get some ingredients right here.'' Cue the prefect scanning at the plants more carefully. "Oh, yeah. He's been my best friend since second year,'' he told Polly happily. "He's the best best friend a guy could ask for. He puts up with my silly ideas and experiments all the time. Plus he's always there for me whenever I have those bad days.'' Honestly, Adi could go on forever about Benny but he was distracted.

"Daisies! Those could be used in Shrinking Solutions and Essence of Daisyroot.'' Wheee! The guy snagged a healthy amount of the flowers.

Name a plant after him, huh? Paulina laughed. "We'll see about it." She really wouldn't mind doing it, of course...she just felt like messing with him was all. "Maybe it can be named for us and Benny!" He might like that.

"Oh, Power Rangers. Sure. I haven't watched that show in YEARS." Paulina couldn't even remember how the song went, but it was awesome that Adi did. "That sounds great to me. Do you watch much tv?" It was interesting to think that some of her classmates were so exposed to muggle society and others had no idea about any of it.

It was a shame that she wouldn't be able to work in the garden or greenhouse with Adi, but at least he was okay with worms. Worms were great helpers when it came to things like compost. "Oh, the potions project. I'm not planning to do that, but I'd be glad to help you." Sounded like it could be fun, Paulina was just trying to focus on her school work and NEWTs without swamping herself. The Dueling Club was enough excitement for her. "It's nice to hear how close you are with Benny. I miss my best friend." It was okay though, because she had made friends at Hogwarts.

She smiled as Adi snagged some daisies. "So we just take anything from plants that could be used in potions?"

Adi marveled at Polly's idea. "Sounds like an awesome idea! Benny would love that!'' But most of all, he himself dug the idea. And she DID know of Power Rangers! How cool! "Yep, I do. I'm half blood with the magical abilities coming from mom's side. She works at the Daily Prophet.'' Did Adi mind telling Polly all of this? Nope! Sure, he only knew her for less than a year but he liked her a ton.

"All you've got to do is gather some ingredients. At least I figure I could do this option for now since we've got a garden right here.'' Adi grinned. "Thanks a ton! I'm sure Culloden would appreciate it.'' He tilted his head. ''Where is your bestie?'' He couldn't imagine being away from Benny much less not being able to talk to him everyday. When they had fought last term, it was like a part of him had died.

"Yep, that's the plan!'' He continued gathering daisies with his friend, plucking them cleanly and then putting them in a neat pile.

"Then we are agreed that it will be named after the three of us!" How exciting. Paulina was already thinking about all the cool plants that she could discover over the years. It would be amazing if Professor Myers taught future students about some of them!

Adi was a half blood like her. Interesting. "I am too. What does your mom do at the Daily Prophet? I have a pretty big family, but my sister Adeline doesn't have a part of it anymore." She didn't usually share personal stuff like that, but she trusted Adi and was comfortable around him. It was still hard for Paulina to believe that she was an aunt to Adeline's child - or was it children? She had no idea.

Nodding, Paulina began looking at the different plants around them to see what could be used as potion ingredients. "No problem. And my best friend is at Beauxbatons. She's french." As she talked, she began collecting rose thorns using Diffindo. "I never really got into potion brewing. I'm not very good at it." She could follow the steps and end up with the correct results, but goodness knows she had no idea about the science behind it.

Adi couldn't stop grinning. "I like this a lot!'' Just think... a planed named after the three friends. This was so cool! "Oh, she writes for them. The Sports section mostly.'' Yep, even his mother was interested in sport though it was more of wizarding ones than muggles'.

But Polly- cracker had an interesting family. "How come?'' he asked curiously but then shook his head. "You don't have to answer if it's too personal.'' The Hufflepuff knew his friend may not be too fond of telling whatever had happened among her family members.

Adi wasn't sure how much ingredients Culloden wanted them to collect but with his daisies and Polly's rose thorns, they at least had something for the man's potions stock. He proceeded to stock the gathered thorns together using magic to levitate them into a pile. "You'll get to see her during the holidays,'' Adi said. "I'm sure she misses you just as much.'' Not good at Potions? "I can always help you with it whenever you want.'' It was a fair trade, right? She was going to be helping him with Herbology, after all.
