Welcome back for another fun filled year, badgers! And a very special welcome to the newest members of the Hufflepuff House! As Professor Moxley and Professor Culloden are new to the family as well, they thought they'd put together a little party for everyone to meet, snack, and get to know each other a little better!
Over by the new indoor garden, you'll find a selection of tasty treats. Moxley is especially fond of the cauldron cakes and one might notice a few missing from the tray if they're paying attention. What? Setting up is hard work! There's also hot chocolate and a large bowl of mini marshmallows for those who like their beverages extra sweet!
Once you've taken care of your tummy, wrap up in one of the cozy blankets set aside in a large basket for the badger bunch and find yourself a spot on the floor. The scratchy sounds of wizarding wrock can be heard from an old gramophone and the atmosphere is perfect for chatting with old friends or making new ones. There might even be a few games once everyone's settled!
OOC: This is just for fun and a nice way for everyone to interact with their housemates before the craziness of term starts! Come and play! IC, this would be happening right after the opening feast and the actual common room thread will be open for business in a few days!
[COLOR="DimGray"] Sipping some more from his cup of hot choco, Owen looked up just in time to see a creature filling up the bowls of treats. Cue internal flail! "HOUSE EEEELF!" There goes some pointing and excited grin!squeal!beam. Excited Owen was...excited.
Toddles hears someone callings Toddles. Toddles turns towards Master and asks, "Master needs somethings from Toddles?"

Woot! Paulina had a sense of humour! Adi approved of her so much more now. He laughed with her. "I try to be. Sometimes I think if I had a red nose or big shoes it would be even better.'' Hehe. The Puffer DID love to make everyone laugh when he could.
Awh, weren't House elves one of the most awesome creatures ever?! "We're VERY happy to see you too, Toddles. You do a great job. Wouldn't you stay a while? You can have a cauldron cake with us.'' The Puffer didn't really care if it was against an Elf's nature to socialise too much with humans or what because he really DID want Toddles to stay and he could bet he wasn't the only one.
For a while? Nope, not happening Culloden. "You're going to love being a Hufflepuff so much, you'll never want to go back being a Slytherin,'' Adi kidded with the man. Ohohoh, secrets? He had no secrets. He was like an open book, he wore his heart on his sleeve and whatever else. But Culloden...hahaha! He was funny! Yep, he WAS and ALWAYS will be awesome! "In the Castle? Probably the Kitchen because I LOVE food but out on the Grounds, it's the Wooden Bridge.''

A blonde guy(Noel) Owen has never seen before was talking to him and Henry! He nodded at the older boy's query as he stuffed himself with more marshmallows. "Mrmmh. Fvhery mush!" Who wouldn't? There was food! "Mer nermhs Ohhen." Or something like that. He really shouldn't be talking while eating.
YUP. He was all right, Prefect Adi. Just had a mouth too full of marshmallows and a heart full of Professor Moxley unprecedented interest about the Kitchen's location. Tickle the painting? It will turn into a knob? What a cool way to enter the realm of food, huh? He was going to do just that first thing later this evening in the morning. "Salamat!" He told the Prefect with a rather huge grin and hot chocolate mustache and all. "Thank you!"
With his hot choco mustache still in place, Owen turned to the other Prefect. He remembered her! Miss Prefect Norah! "Mm! It's Owen. Hello." BEAM.
Then the Professor man was talking to them now. He seemed nice. And he was sitting on the floor with them while eating. Owen decided he liked him. He was teaching Potions? Something to look forward to, then! So, favorite spot on the school? "The Kitchens, Professor sir (Culloden). There's food in there." That's where the real magic happened. That was what he thought anyway. He has yet to find out for himself how awesome that place was.
Speaking of which, the house elfs were the ones making their food, right? Which meant that Owen was all the more excited to be friends with one. Food motives and all. "No, I'm all set. Nice to meet you, Toddles!" Prefect Adi was introducing them. Yay! "Yes, Toddles. Have a bite. And do you think...um, do you think maybe I can join you in the Kitchens sometime soon?"Please say yeeeeeeeees.
Olathe had been in a continuous state of Awe since she stepped off the train, the village, the grounds, the Great Hall with its amazing ceiling, the feast it was almost overwhelming. After finally accepting that her Letter hadn't been some silly joke she had tried to learn as much as she could about the Magical world she was about to enter. but it wasn't until she paused just inside the common room and watched the other students mingling and catching up with each other that she realized just how much bigger and more interesting her world was about to become. " This place is.... Awesome," She blushed a bit realizing her excitement had caused her to be a bit louder than she had intended.
Noel stared at Brian. He definitely had had too much sugar, right? Isn't that why he was so jump? Seeing the fellow puff hugging everyone, Noel shook his head and commented "we need to cut down the sugar intakes for hufflepuff students, they are already so puff and with added sugar, they just kinda explode into -- that" he gestured toward the boy. Seriously, the over-puffness had to be life threatening, yeah?
Speaking of puff overload .....
....
What did Adi mean about forming a band? Did he not know? Noel stared at him deadpan. "Dude. I already have a band. WizRiots" Geez. They needed to advertise more. "The drummer is actually your fellow prefect, Benzi Rider"
When Norah started blushing like that, Noel grinned and forgot all about Adi not knowing about his band. It was amusing. He'd love to tease her about it but they weren't quiet that frank with each other so he pretended like he didn't see. "Yes. definitely. You should tell me your favorites sometime" He always liked hearing what others thought was good music. It was all about perspective, y'know. And then it also gave him the chance to share his favorite music.
He smiled when Paulina introduced herself. "Liking hufflepuff so far?" he asked, although he wouldn't blame her if she didn't. He certainly hadn't for a long time ............ and that didn't mean he suddenly did. But he also would rather be here than in any other house. So that was something. It was a complicated relationship.
Noel once again found himself staring when one of the first year (Owen) spoke to him with a full mouth. It was amusing. "Easy there, buddy - the food will still be here when you wake up tomorrow" Oh dear "What was that?" He tilted his head slightly, "Oh!hen?" What a strange name. Were his parents fans of chickens?

Look, look, look! It was another one of his baby badgers! Adi remembered watching her getting Sorted and had not gotten much of a chance to talk to her at the Feast. "Olathe, right?'' he asked as he approached her, holding out a cup of hot chocolate to her. "Yes, it is! Wait until you see the rest of the Castle! But be careful not to get lost.'' Cue the wink!
Whaaaa?! "How exactly did I miss this?'' Adi demanded of Noel. "That's so cool!'' He might love music but for some reason he never wanted to be in a band. Focusing on cricket and then later Hogwarts and his future career always took up his time. Nah, his music was more for his personal relaxation.
Oh man! Owen was super funny! Just look at him and his chocolate mustache! "You look very distinguished there, big guy,'' Adi joked and tapping his upper lip to indicate the fake mustache. "Salamat? What's that? Is it some kind of food?'' Because if it was, he had never heard of it before and he thought it sounded delicious. Like Salmon!
Did House elves blush? Ad didn't know that but her he was, seeing that for himself right now. Awwwh, Toddles! He was disappointed but he knew Toddles was happier to be serving the students. He just wished the Elves would take some time for themselves. "I understand,'' piped up the seventh year cheerfully. "You take care of yourself. I'll drop by the Kitchen soon. Please come say hi.'' He grinned happily at the elf. Toddles would have visits from him! And Owen too!

Olathe smiled brightly she nodded when Adi asked her name. “ Yes, and your…Adi?” She was a little hesitant with his name so many names and titles had been tossed at her lately she was a little nervous she’d get them all mixed up, maybe she should make some notes later just to be safe. “ Our prefect?” she took the offered cup of Hot Chocolate from him and took a small drink. “Mmmm,.” Olathe wasn’t sure if it was all just in her head from such an exciting day or if it really was the most amazingly delicious hot chocolate she had ever tasted in her life. “ I’ll try not to.” she blushed little when he winked.

To say Meredith was pleased to see Toddles was a bit of an understatement. The brunette let out a little squeak of excitement and waved enthusiastically, having always had a soft spot for the creatures. "We appreciate all your help,Toddles!" Especially because Moxley had picked over most of the snacks before the party had even started and refills were welcome.
Owen was adorable and the blushing was so amusing to Moxley. Yet another one of the kiddos falling for her beauty. She couldn't blame him for having a crush on her, really, which was clearly why his cheeks were so red. She was quite a looker. "I'm glad you're enjoying it!" And he seemed to be a fan of house elves as well. She was getting along with these badgers swimmingly!
Eyes on the gramophone, the muggle studies professor tapped her chin and then nodded, gaze shifting to Mr. Wallace. "As long as the lyrics are appropriate, I don't think it'd be a problem!" She was so good at this being responsible thing. Botros was going to be giving her some kind of award at the end of term, she could feel it.
Mr. Woods was a fan of knitwear, then? Moxley had never had the patience to make the stuff but it was quite cozy so she guessed she understood. "M'loving it too, Brian! My head feels warmer than the sofa by the fireplace in the dead of winter!" Truly!
Had Adi called her a Puffer. Such an odd sounding word, wasn't it? "I'm quite happy to be an honorary puffer, yes!" It was true. She was feeling right at home with these guys, though it was so much quieter here than in Gryffindor common room back in the day.
"You're going to do great things, Nora!" Moxley was pleased to see her stepping into her new role with a good attitude, not that she'd had any doubts. "And maybe you can inspire the kiddos to do their homework! That'd be a start."Wink!
A good Hufflepuff. She'd never met anything but good Hufflepuffs, to be honest. That's why the brunette smiled warmly at Paulina and nodded. "I'm sure you'll have no problem with that."
...
Favorite lesson being potions? PSH! Moxley chuckled and shook her head at Culloden before focusing on the question he'd asked. Favorite place in the castle, huh? Lots of the kiddos liked the kitchen and she couldn't exactly blame them. It was a favorite place of hers, as well. Not THE favorite place, though.
"I quite like my office! It makes me feel at home an it houses all my treasures." She grinned, thinking of the shelves and shelves lined with her muggle finds. "Now for returning Hufflepuffs, can you share why you love being a badger? For the newer members, can you share what you hope to gain from being a Hufflepuff?"

Olathe turned her attention to the Professor as she began to address the entire group. " can you share what you hope to gain from being a Hufflepuff?"Moxleyhad asked Olathe fidgeted with the hem of her skirt as she waited for someone else to answer first out of worry that her own answer might seem silly to everyone else. When it didn't look like anyone else wanted to go first she raised her hand slowly. " Friends that are the same.... I well I have friends but.. before I got my letter magic was just something from stories... I...uh. it's just nice to not feel so different... for once.." Olathe looked back at her lap and pretended to pick bits of lint off her skirt.

Goody! He had gotten her name right. "Yes, I am,'' Adi told Olathe happily and now holding out a cauldron cake and pumpkin pasty. Hey, he had to make sure his Puffs weren't hungry. He noticed her blushing and laughed. What was with all of these blushing first years? "If you get lost just come find me!'' Hehe. "Has any of your family been in Hufflepuff? Or are you a muggleborn?" Not that it mattered. Olathe was one of them! Wheee!
YAY! Moxley was pleased to be an honourary badger! She was already Puffer like since she had the traits like them. Oh! A question for them ALL. Adi didn't have to consider his answer. "I love being a Hufflepuff because I feel so at home with everyone in the House. We're also known as being the friendliest of the four and I really like that. Also, the way we work so hard each term is another reason.'' Gosh, he LOVED being a Puffer and he just couldn't put it into proper words.
Olathe wanted friends? He leaned closer to her to ask... "I'm already your friend, right?" He was everybody's friends. Hehe.

Distinguished? Whut? Owen stared at Prefect Adi for a few seconds before he got what he meant. Wiping his upper lip with his sweater's sleeve, Owen realized that he had an Owen mustache all along. Shyly, he chuckled. Did Professor maa'm Moxley saw that? The Prefect said he looked distinguished. That sounded like a good thing. Owen wanted the pretty Professor to see him looking good. Ahem. "Nooo, Adi. It's how we say "thank you" back at home."Nod nod.
Speaking of which, the word was now applicable to his interaction with Toddles. "Salamat, Toddles!" He was so courteous and polite withe bowing and all. "Maybe you can let me help you with making the food too, yea?"
Food. Yup, the food will still be there the next day. Owen grinned at the blonde (Noel) "Sorry, I get hungry easily." Growing boy here. "Owen! Hehe. Not Oh!Hen." ..... "It's cool to meet you..........?

Olathe let out a soft relieved breath when she realized she was right about Adi being prefect, that could have been awkward. She looked at the two cakes she had been two nervous to try the snacks on the train and at the feast every time she looked at the desserts she could hear her Mother nagging about not spoiling her dinner. " I'll try them both," She said with a grin as she took both cakes from Adi she took a small bite of the pumpkin pasty, Delicious was first word that could describe it. " Are all wizard snacks this tasty?" She asked after she had finished chewing.

"Thanks," Olathe laugh a little at the thought of looking for him if she was lost. "I'll remember that unless it ends up making me even more lost." She joked now but it could happen at some point this place was huge and she was new it was more of a matter of when it happened than an if it happened. " Muggleborn," She answered. " I'm still not 100% convinced this isn't some dream I'm about to wake up from." She whispered she took a bit of the cauldron cake. "Mmm, Ok dis unm mmy Faymurit."(this one is my favorite) She mumbled through a mouth full of cake.

Was it him or did Owen look slightly proud about what Adi said. Oh yesh. He had also figured it out... the young Puff seem to have a crush on their Head of House! How cute. Hehe. "So, it's not food?'' He was somewhat disappointed because this thing sounded yummy and Adi was about to ask Owen if he could make it for him. But hey! At least the older Puff had learnt something for today! "That's good to know. I'll be sure to use that word when I have to thank you for something.''
Yay! Olathe was going to try both the cauldron cake and pumpkin pasty. To make her feel more comfortable, Adi nommed on a pasty too. "Oh yeah! ALWAYS!'' he said enthusiastically after chewing and swallowing a generous portion. "Especially if they are made by the House elves. They rock!'' Indeed they did. Could he adopt the House elves when he graduated?
The seventh year laughed with his new friend. "If Hogwarts allowed it, we could have had walkie talkies or something so that we could communicate. 'Come in, lost Olathe, come in!'" Ah, muggle born! "This is no dream. You'll see that when you start to do magic of your own. Hey, if you need help anytime with anything... homework, spell work or whatever it is, let me know.'' #HelpfulBagder

note to self as for House Elf for BirthdayShe couldn't help but laugh at Adi's Lost Olathe comment, Maybe it amusing simply due to the fact she could imagine it happening. Adi with a walkie talkie surrounded by prefects trying to contact her while she was off in some unfamiliar part of the castle with a walkie with bad batteries or no walking at all cause it left somewhere.. "Can't wait, I wanted to try all sorts of stuff after I got my text books but with the rules about underage magic I was scared I would get chucked out before I ever even got here."

Gwen shyly stumbled into the Hufflepuff common room. She surveys the people. Nobody is looking at her. She approached the people she thought were prefects. "Hi, I'm Gwendolyn Rose. I'm an American transfer student, and I missed the train because I was adjusting to the time change. I was just sorted into Hufflepuff, and I've always known I'm a true badger. I read all about Hogwarts in America, always hoping I could go. And then my dad got a ministry job here." Gwen was once again too conscious of her Chicago accent.

"He tries to be. But yes, VERY soon, Toddles, I'll see you there,'' Adi chirped cheerily. The Kitchen was one of his absolute favourite places at Hogwarts! Maybe he and AJ can hang out there for a bit. Yeaaah, a date in the Kitchen with the girlfriend sounded great!
The little Puffer was laughing! He was making her laugh! WOOT! Adi was pleased. Hopefully he was helping Olathe feel at home. He could remember the first time he had come to Hogwarts, he had been a little home sick for quite a few weeks. Awwh, underage magic, yes. That sucked. But no more for him! He could do magic out of School now. Wheeee. "You'll get right down to business tomorrow. When you get your time table, I can walk you to your first class if you like.'' Yes, he would do this! "You know, I reckon firsties should have maps.'' Hehe. Less lost ones then, yes?
Annnd there was another first year finally joining them. Adi smiled broadly at her. "HIHIHI, Gwen! Can I call you Gwen? Come on over, don't be shy.'' It was very obvious she was not from around her as she confirmed. "Pumpkin pasty? Cauldron cake?'' She must be tired and hungry.
Gwen nodded. Finally, someone was speaking to her. "Yeah, of course you can call me Gwen, everyone does. And yeah, I'm famished. Do you have any candy cakes? I know they are sort of an American staple, and I didn't see them in Diagon Alley, but I just really love them, especially the chocolate frog and peppermint imp ones."

"Cool!" Olathe Couldn't wait for her first class to start. The fact that Adi was offering to show her where it was going to be was nice to. " If you aren't to busy yourself tomorrow that would be nice."Olathe looked up as someone approached them and was greeted by Adi.

" I'm Olathe," She added introducing herself as well She was new herself after all might as well meet as many housemates as she could, It would be nice know people when class started.
"Hello, Olathe." Gwen said. "All Hufflepuffs in the same year have classes together, right?" Gwen was excited to begin a new chapter in her life. "I'm so excited!" She laughed nervously.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Busy? Adi was never too busy for anyone! Especially when it came to the new Hufflepuffs. "I'll be sure to get you guys to the right class, Olathe,'' he replied with a grin. "It would save you guys from getting lost particularly if you have to use the moving staircases to get to the classes. They can take you to the wrong floors without warning.'' Those staircases were fun, silly and annoying at the same time.
WOAH! New girl Gwen sure can talk a lot. Hehe. Adi was reminded of himself. He could go on and on like that sometimes. He didn't need to introduce himself, no? All the Hufflepuffs would know who he was by now. But, but, but did she just say CHOCOLATE FROGS? Adi shook his head. "No candy cakes but I do have lots of Froggies!'' He had replenished his stash after a quick trip to his dorm since his trunk had already arrived. Out came two Chocolate frogs from his pocket. ''These are my favourite sweets, Gwen,'' he told her as he handed them over.
Gwen laughed excitedly. She could tell that Adi thought she was talkative, and she hoped that was good. She really hoped to make friends quickly. And she had always dreamed about Hufflepuff, so it must've been the house for her.
"Is it true, all the rumors about Hogwarts? That there are ghosts around every corner and that you can have owls to send letters home and that Christmas is absolutely amazing? We never had ghosts at Corona, the younger-level school was near Corona and we got a tour." Oops, she was doing it again, wasn't she? Talking too much?
