Gryffindor Gryffindor Game Lounge

[ map ]

While the Lions' Den may be the focal point of the Gryffindor common room, all the real action happens over here in the game lounge. Sofas and bean bag chairs are strung about the room in a haphazard, but comfortable, manner and off to the left is a large table with enough chairs for eight people to sit. A shelf on the wall above the table is stocked with all sorts of games and activities for curious Gryffindors to utilize. To help the lions take home the Gobstones Cup, there is a Gobstones set to practice with. Just be sure to clean up any of the smelly goo that comes spurting out from the gobs. You can also find a wizards' chess set and Snitch Snatchers on the shelf. If games are not your style, on the opposite side of the room is a grand piano waiting and ready to have its ivories tickled for a sing-along.

While Snitch Snatchers is one way to get your quidditch fix, the real quidditch treat can be found in the middle of the room in the form of a modified muggle foosball table that has been made to look like a quidditch pitch. There are no knobs to move the players around, instead all you need is your wand and to tap one of the figures on the team you wish to control while saying 'GRYFFINROAR' and away you go! As long as you are holding your wand, all you need to do is order the little figures around. Be wary of the tiny golden snitch that will start zooming around on its own accord. The figures will not return to being inanimate until it is caught!

In the back of the lounge you will find a medium sized tray topped with soil, and spray bottles containing brown liquid beside it. It may seem strange, but this is the resting place of the Gryffindor Tower Lion topiary. The Topiary Lion moves around on his own accord, and is responsive to a pat or two. Just remember to spray his roots with fertilizer and water them occasionally when he's on his pan... or else he might wither and die. On the wall behind the topiary is a display case holding dozens of Dandy Lion flowers that will purr, roar softly, and paw at the air with their leaves when you get close.

Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite

It took a little more stumbling around before Blaise thought he'd finally gotten the hang of this feline thing and once that was accomplished, there he went, leaping onto bookshelves, pawing away at the furniture. The boy fully intended to enjoy every waking moment as a cat before the spell wore off and he had to go back to being a boy.

His quill and notepad zoomed after him, wherever he went, taking the notes he would likely hand in for his homework because if anything could fully capture his experience and distort it somewhat it would definitely be his quill.

Bounding eagerly around the corner, he came to a stop in the game lounge where he spotted two girls playing by wizard's chess.

Ahem. Pay no attention to him while he mosied on over with his tail swinging ever so nicely and a light pep in his step. The boy...er...cat came to a stop right before them and gave his best meow--he'd been working on it, in case the couldn't tell--and watched as the two left their game to shower HIM with affection. Adorable? Why of course he knew he was adorable and they were so nice for saying it. Naturally, Blaise was relishing in the attention...'least until one of them mentioned taking him BACK to their dorm to dress him up. That was his cue to leave and had him BOLTING. If they kept him up there and the potion wore off he didn't think anyone would buy that he was only doing homework and in any case the Professor said to use common sense...which meant NOT going to the girl dormitory.

See? He was smart.

Default transfiguration hw 1 post 1
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

During a free period, Yoongi entered the game lounge area of the common room. He had completely forgotten to practise the spells from Transfiguration and he didn't want to enter the next lesson and he couldn't do any of the spells. Well, as a sixth year he already knew the spells that they had to practise for their homework but he did have trouble with one of them.

Sitting on one of the chairs in the corner, the Gryffindor took out his homework notebook and read what he had to do. Then he took out his wand from his wrist holster and stood up. He had already decided to use Scribblifors on a chess piece.

Grabbing a Knight piece, Yoongi walked back to the chair and placed the piece on the table in front of it. Pointing his wand at it, the Gryffindor thought really hard and imagined the piece to transfigure in to a quill. 'Scribblifors!' He thought non-verbally and flicked his wand to the right. The chess piece began to change slowly. The head of the horse changed shape and got feathery but then it stayed stuck like that. Half horse, half feather.

With a sigh, Yoongi turned back the spell and tried again , this time verbally because he wanted to see if he was just bad at this spell or if he just had difficulty with non-verbal. "Scribblifors" The chess piece changed shape immediately. So it wasn't that he was horrible at it....good to know...

Default Transfiguration Homework #1 Post 1
Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna

Benny had nearly gotten so distracted by his weekly practices of human transfiguration that he had delayed his work on the various homework given out for the normal class. It wasn't his fault that working on transfiguring himself into some sort of creature was more fun, despite the hard work required, than working with more inanimate objects. Even the ones he made move by Piertotum Locomotor. Little Merlin statues moving to your very command can only be soooo interesting for sooooo long.

Debating what to work on, the seventh year headed towards the Gryffindor Game Lounge for lack of other direction. Surely there should be a decent amount of random items to work with whatever spell he decided to practice. So with his notes in one hand and a gobstone set in his other, he settled into a chair at one of the free tables. Small, round, non-descript objects seemed a great palate to build from. "Might as well start from the beginning," he mused aloud to himself as he took out a few of them to focus on.
Beginning meant Vera Verto.

Item into water goblet.

Certainly a stretch in size but something should be doable. That was the purpose of practing the spell...right? Trying out things in different ways including out of the box. So Benny slipped his pocket from its home and refreshed his memory on the wand movement before taking to casting. "Vera Verto," he spoke clearly once before repeating it with the wand movement. Gobstone to water goblet. Gobstone to water goblet. Come on.

There was movement, and there was change, gentle and smooth at first before growing. However by the time it stopped, it was curved and partly hollow almost like the target object but still relatively small. "If only I had wanted a stone bowl."
