Tiara was proud of her students. Most of them were finding success, and Angel was finally getting it. And she had even learned something new herself from Mister Rehman over there. Food as a motivational technique.. she had filed that one away as a mental note.

"Okay!" she called to get everyone's attention. "Beginners, it's time to actually get you in the air! Once the broom is in your hand, mount it like so." She swung her leg over the twigs, minding her robes as she did so. "Maintain a firm, but comfortable grip on the handle with one hand in front of the other. Then, when you are ready, kick off hard from the ground." Once again she demonstrated, hovering a few feet in the air. "I would like you to hover a small distance from the ground to get used to the sensation. When you are ready, simply nudge the handle of the broom downwards to land." She showed them what she meant, alighting carefully on the ground.

"Experienced group!" Tiara called. "Please demonstrate the kickoff motion again, as it can be a bit tricky." They were all working with someone by now, yes?

"Now, everyone spread out and give it a go!" Once they had mastered this.. that obstacle course was calling their names.

Yoongi had heard Ava laugh out loud right after the broom hit his face and he knew she was laughing at him. He sent her a glare but otherwise said nothing about it because a moment later the Professor came to check on him. “I’m fine” he mumbled, rubbing his forehead. “I said I’m FINE!” He snapped as Adi also asked how he was. “I’m sorry …” He was already on edge and people asking how he was wasn’t helping.

PROFESSOR SAID WHAT?! THEY WERE GOING IN THE AIR?!

But…but he thought the first class would be the basic stuff. The , how to command the broom? Not..not flying! Well, it wasn’t exactly flying they were going to do, just hovering above the ground BUT STILL! The Gryffindor sat on the broom, his hands were sweaty. He watched her demonstrate how to hover in the air and took a deep breath. Maybe if he closed his eyes it wouldn’t be so bad? But if he did that how’d he know he’d hovered only a few feet?

YES! FINALLY! Caleb was going crazy here not getting in the air!

Flinging his leg over his broom, Caleb settled himself on the broom and then very lightly pushed off the ground. He hovered a bit, looking around and checking to see how the other kids were doing. "Anyone need help?" he offered for the younger kids, just in case they needed him to come down and help.

Until then, he was going to just hang out a few feet above the ground. La de da.

WOAH!

Adi hadn't expected that from Yoongi but he brushed it off almost immediately. "Forget it, man.'' Dude must be under a lot of stress but he didn't exactly leave his friend alone. Nope. Real friends teased each other. Mhmm. "You need a chill pill... or a potion. Or a Cheering Potion.'' Hehe.

He turned his attention to Tanner. Ah! She was demonstrating the kickoff! Gosh, how long ago had it been since he had done this? Oh, well. That would be changing soon. Adi turned back to Yoongi to see him sitting on the broom, looking like a nervous wreck. Oh yeah... Yoongi was afraid of heights, wasn't he? Uh oh.

"Take a deeeep breath, Yoongi, then follow my lead,'' the Hufflepuff stated as he sat on his broom too. He grinned cheerfully at his lion friend. "It's all pretty simple. You're not hovering high up so you can get adjusted fast.'' Baby steps. Mhmmm. They would take this in baby steps. "Okay, here goes!'' Happily, he demonstrated the kickoff motion again and hovered about seven or eight feet.

"Woohoo! This is super fun! Come on, Yoongi! Don't let your fear keep you from having a good time! Girls love a pretty boy on a broom.'' Ehem. He was referring to Yoongi's obsession with his looks.

Ah yes, it was finally time to fly. Olly was so ready to get in the air. He did not have a beginner that he was helping, but that was okay. Because he was just a first year. So he mounted his broom and kicked off. He soared high into the air, closing his eyes for a moment to let the wind blow against his face. The feeling of losing the ground beneath his feet was the best feeling in the world.

He hovered in the air, not far off the ground. He was being a good student and waiting for further instructions. But he was eyeing the obstacle course set up in front of him. When were they going to get to the fun stuff?

THEY WERE GOING TO FLY!

Like, F I N A L L Y!

Phillip, who was in the beginners group JUST IN CASE, had been EAGER to get up in the air. The anticipation was KILLING him, slowly and surely. He only shuffled around and rolled his eyes and sighed as he waited for the call. That one call. The one that would give him the cue.

And when it came, it was as if someone had told him that he was going to get FREE CANDY FOR A YEAR.

MERLIN, IT WAS TIME TO FLY!!

As quick as anything, the boy swung his leg over his broom and stood there. Okay. Breathe. Concentrate. Remember what had been taught back at the Quidditch Camp all those years ago. AND what Tanner Lady had just said. Confidence? He had PLENTY of that. It was just taking him a bit of time to kick off, okay?!

But, when he finally felt ready enough, Phillip took a deep breath and kicked off HARD from the ground. The broom soared up not very high off of the ground but, to the small first year, it felt like it was quite a distance. He was UP! He was UP IN THE AIR! After, what? Three years? Four?

"WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!" he called, raising one hand up in the air while the other maintained a firmer grip on his broom. There was a look of pure glee on his face because he, Phillip Romalotti, WAS FLYING.

Just WAIT till Kat heard about THIS.

And no, he didn't want to land back on the ground just yet.

They were actually going into the air? As in..leaving the ground? His feet would not be stuck to the floor and he would be in a position that could lead to falling off? Oh, this was about fifty times worse than getting stage fright and a hundred times worse than actually forgetting your lines in the middle of a sold out show. He dropped the broom in his hand to the floor, just so it wasn't in his hand and he would have a little longer to get his head together before doing whatever it was that Professor Tanner was doing.

Kicking off? Wasn't that a phrase used for a tantrum?

No thank you.

He set his hand out over the broom on the floor beside him and, just like before, loudly said "Up!" and watched as the wooden handle came up into his hand and curled his fingers around it. He was prolonging this as much as he possibly could because he did not want to make a fool of himself again. He gave some curious looks around him, before swinging his leg over the broom -- more so he just lowered the broom and stepped over it, because that was much easier than lifting and shifting and oh no. He watched a little more, observing the older students that knew what they were doing before copying and kicking off hard from the ground. Maybe a little too hard, because his broom (and he) moved quicker than he had expected off the ground so his feet were a foot away from the floor.

WoooOOooaoOoOoooAAaaaaaahhhhHHHH.

This was hella weird. He really didn't like the feeling of it though, and leant his broom forward until his feet touched the floor again. He probably needed to try it again, but needed a minute.

Time to practice the kick off motion?

Sure why not? It was kind of easy and mostly all the older guys were demonstrating for the little guys. He was just going to demonstrate for the teacher. He went over to his broom and called, "UP!" and the broom flew up to his hand. Wicckkeeddd. This broom liked him being a school broom and all. He put his other leg over the broom and leaned backward first and then leaned forward and kicked off. Then he started to hover a little bit and and leaned back down. There easy enough.

He chuckled at the newbies reactions. I guess it was cool to ride a broom. He remembered his first time and then he face planted into the ground. Good times. Good times. He remembered now what dirt tastes like.

Janelle was pretty proud of herself for getting her broom up. When she heard Adi's words of encouragement, she smiled, giving him a thumbs up right back. When Professor Tanner said nice things, Janelle beamed. She was going to do this. Continuing to practice, she worked on getting the broom into her hand.

Before Janelle knew it, it was time to actually get on the broom. She wasn't afraid, but she knew that this would probably not be a quick and easy thing to learn. Just like riding a bike, flying probably took lots and lots of practice. She tried to convince herself that not getting it perfectly on the first try was okay.

Starting from step one again, Janelle put her hand out, concentrated and said, "Up". This time, the broom came to her as soon as the command was given. Janelle wondered if brooms were like wands. If they knew they belonged to you, would they respond better? She would have to ask Professor Tanner about that later.

Thinking about the steps that the professor had told them, Janelle bravely swung her leg over the broom handle. To say that she had a firm grip on the broom was an understatement. It was more like a death grip and she had no intention of falling off the broom today. With one hand in front of the other she tried to get her focus and remember the next step. When she had her thoughts together, Janelle tried to kick off from the ground, just as the more experienced students had demonstrated. She went up all right, but not very far. Janelle was just high enough, for her feet to not touch the ground. Well, it was a start. Now she just had to concentrate on keeping her balance. That wasn't exactly easy, given how skinny the broom handly was. At least a bicycle seat was wide. Once Janelle felt like she was a little more balanced, she pointed the broom handle down. Moving the few inches until her feet touched down, she dismounted the broom and prepared to try it all again.

Healer Murdoch did not want to be here. She did not approve of this so called sport and she most certainly did not appreciate being told she needed to be here to help monitor things. It was as if Tanner was anticipating someone getting hurt. Why else would she request the presence of the healer on the pitch?

Honestly, Anastasia wasn't even gone five minutes before Botros gave the go ahead permitting flying back in the school, and everyone knew that could only lead to one thing...

INJURIES!

If any students got injured Cecelia was just the person who would point out that she was totally against bringing this class back to the school.

None the less, here she stood off to the side not talking to anyone, just watching what was going on. Watching to see who would be the first one to mess around and get hurt. She looked around as the students mounted their brooms.

And so it begins.

FINALLY!

She was itching to get her butt on that broom and fly. So when Professor Tanner gave them a go sign, Candice mounted her broom and placed her right hand before the left hand. She made sure that she didn't grip the broom too hard before she kicked off from the ground.

SHE'S FLYING...!!!!

Well, technically she's just remain in one place in the air. But it still the same, right? She's gonna stay here for a bit until the Professor give them another instruction.

This wasn't bad. The up thing.

The hovering, he wasn't so sure about because he was too busy staring at THE HEALER. Who the heck invited her here???? Because that meant they were EXPECTING INJURIES. Which meant, welp. This was fun while it lasted. See you lot at graduation, where he'd hopefully be recovered by then.

Ahem.

And all of this was before actually getting on a broom.

Sigh.

But following Tanner's instructions, the Gryffindor kicked on leg over the broom and held on to the handles with both hands before kicking off the--woaaaaaaah.

He was fine. He was FIIIIIIIIINE. He may have kicked off a little harder than necessary and may have hovered a little higher than intended, but he was fiiiiiiiine.....

......for now.

But best keep the healer on hold, yeah?

And it was FLYING time. Almost. Hovering... sheesh... though he wasn't regretting his choice of being a 'beginner' yet, because the advanced peeps weren't doing much different to them, more just... babysitting them if anything else. He was cool with this.

Mounting his broom and gripping it comfortably, Zeke pushed off from the ground with enough force to rise into the air by a couple of metres. He hovered there a few moments, watching everyone else, and then tipped the broom handle down a tad, commanding it to descend until his feet touched the ground.

After repeating this process another two times, Zeke was growing bored. Then again, he supposed his expectations had been a little high considering the class was called flying BASICS... it really was basic so far.

He had this. Could they ACTUALLY fly now?

Ooops....

Apparently she couldn't control her laughing. "I'm sorry, Professor Tanner." The young lioness apologized. Turned to Yoongi, she grinned sheepishly and put her two fingers as it said 'peace'. Come on, don't be mad Flower Boy. He's really concerned that his face would be ruined, huh?

And now.... IT'S FLYING TIME!!!

Mounting her broom, Ava then gripped the handle very firmly and then kicked off the ground hard. WOAH!!!! She hadn't feel this sensation since she stopped the broom practice with her brother. She was levitated like a few feet up in the air. Could she go higher now?

Slowly Hady crept up and down along the area where all the beginners were. Constant movement kept her able to see if anyone needed her help at all. So far most seemed to be doing just fine and she gave each a warm smile or a nod of her head. Others that needed a bit of help already had someone experienced working along side them.

Since she wasn't needed anywhere as of yet the fourth year happily remained in the middle of the beginners group and prepared herself for the next step. FLYING!

Easily swinging one leg over the back of her broom stick she held the broom firmly yet loosely. Taking a small relaxing breath she then kicked off hard against the ground, rising a few feet upwards. Just hovering in the air she enjoyed the feeling for several seconds before her attention turned back to everyone else.

Was it time to really fly yet?

Hovering? Kick off technique? HE GOT THIS. Step aside Bentley and watch a pro 'cept not really' show you how it's done.

Blaise mounted his broom as instructed to, trying the entire time to contain his excitement so he didn't mess up and make a fool himself. When you were a Firstie that boasted about being 'experience' you had to back it up otherwise who knew, the Professor might try moving him in with the beginners. Yikes.

Okay, focus Blaise. You've seen your father do this a million times and you've done it on the hovering brooms too. No big and.............up! One firm kick off sent the boy up off the ground, admittedly a little faster than he would have liked but he managed to tighten his grip and hang on.

See? This wasn't so bad.

He had SOME idea of what he was doing.

Angel suddenly saw the healer and now she was more nervous than ever, boy was this getting scary... she had never seen the healer though she had hurt herself and used that runes to make her better, she had heard stories about the healer and they had made her want to stay away.

Angel now had to try and get off the ground with this broom, okay she would try but she wasn't sure if she could do it, mounting her broom she held onto it tightly since she seriously didn't want to fall off, she was wondering now why she had come to the lesson.

Angel was now trying to be confident like Sophie had told her to be, but things were going weird and she wasn't sure she could do this... she got more comfortable. She then kicked off like the Professor did and the broom raised into the air and hovered a couple of feet off the group, this was scary.

They were going to fly now. That...sounded scary. Owen really hoped his broom will be able to carry his weight.

He threw one chubby leg over the broom and mounted it just like he saw his seniors doing. Okaaaaay. Next was to kick off from the ground, right? He could do that. And he did. Kick off!

... Holy toblerones! He was up. About four feet from the ground, yes, but still. "Whoaaaaa." Wow. This was awesome. Too awesome that he was failing to notice that he was continuously rising higher AND higher from the ground.

UH. OH.

Oh no oh no oh no!

They’re about to take off! The Slytherin’s grin slowly faded from his face as he watched the professor mount her own broom, kicked the ground, hovered a few feet away from the ground, then descended back to them.

Ethan squirmed a bit as he looked down on his own broom, and wondered if he could actually trust Boomie, the broom. He had his fair share of injuries from skateboarding, so technically, he shouldn’t be scared, but...heights you know? And his feet won’t have any contact with the ground. That’s a very different story for this skater boy.

Subtly breathing in and out his anxiety, Ethan swung his leg over his school broom, gripped the handle with both hands, and kicked the ground. He immediately felt the broom propel him in the air from his bottom, and the seventh year had to coil his legs around his broom, as he tried to find his balance, holding on for dear life. He may or may not have made distressed sounds as he stayed in mid-air.

Finding his center was surprisingly easy, since he has been skate boarding since he could walk, but the sensation of not having any contact with the ground was quite weird. Feeling a bit light headed, he gently pushed the broom’s handle downward, and made an unceremonious descent.

*THUD*

Well...that’s a good start. Ethan breathed in and out once more, as he stood up, and rubbed his behind. Maybe he should work on his landing next.

Ahh, yes, it was time to get into the air? Well, Beatrice had known this moment would arrive soon. They weren't about to have a ground lesson in flying, were they? She hadn't mounted a broom in... well, in as long as she had held one. So, watching Tiara's demonstration, and then the demonstrations of the experienced group, Beatrice swung her own leg over the broom. Yes, her grip was firm and comfortable, one hand in front of the other. Check check.

Spreading out was a good idea, and Beatrice found herself at the back of the large group. It was best for her to be there, she thought... a better way to keep an eye on everything. Ahh, and there was Healer Murdoch. Beatrice gave her a smile, feeling very reassured for her presence. She kicked off from the ground, remembering the feeling, and hovered in the air a few feet. It wasn't so bad, actually. She felt herself relax into the broom, and after a while, nudged it down to the grund again, landing softly on her feet.

Then Beatrice noticed one of the students on the ground. She recognised the hair; it was Ethan. About to call out and ask if he was okay, she saw him get to his feet. Well, he HAD been the one to tell her about all of his accidents from the skateboard, so she wasn't too concerned. He seemed okay.

So there were beginners all around gradually getting the hang of raising their brooms up off the ground. Looked like the experienced group was done with their work and sure enough, Tanner was moving them on. Time to get up in the air! Benny was trying his best to keep his excitement down to a dull roar but it was tough to do even with his normally reserved personality to help. He'd just have to focus on what he was doing and let out his energy and excitement when they were allowed some freedom in their actual flying.

Speaking of which...

"Up!" he said loud and clear after laying his broom on the ground in a clear spot. His hand parrellel to the wooden handle of the broom. Thankfully the school broom responded with no trouble and he grasped the handle with ease once it had bumped up into his palm. It felt good. The GRyffindor then slung his lead leg over the broom and settled both hands on the handle before kicking up off the ground.

Woah...

Guess that was a bad demonstration

He had put just a little too much into that kick-off. Perhaps he was a little out of practice with this. But he was up off the ground and hovering in the air. On a whim he pulled the handle up and rose up a bit more before stopping his ascent and simply hanging there looking down to the others.

She loved having the experienced fliers here to assist. It wasn't normal for the first beginning lessons, but it allowed her to help more students, which was always good. But she felt the beginners had now had enough hand-holding that they should be feeling a touch more confident and could do without the experienced guides. "Experienced group, once your beginner is comfortable, you may leave and have at the obstacle course!" There was a lot our there, including goal posts, several bludgers, dummies charmed to fly around randomly, and plenty of stationary things for them to dodge.


She watched as the experienced group slowly broke off towards the obstacle course and smiled. Tiara knew she would love to join them right now herself, but she had other things to do.

"Alright, beginners! You have the basics down. There really is not that much more I can teach you that would not be better learned by simply trying things out." Except for one crucial aspect. "But the last thing is starting and stopping. Once you are in the air, simply lean forward to go. The further forward, the faster you fly." Which is why Seekers often flattened themselves down to the very handle. "Likewise, if you want to stop or slow down, simply lean backwards. For sudden stops, I find a jerk of the broom handle upwards helpful as well."

So they needed to practice that, obviously. "Time to put it all together! Please mount your brooms, kick off and rise a several feet, then practice stopping and going a few times." And then after that... they could do it all on the course!

Nicely done? OF COURSE it was nicely done, he wasn't THAT much of a beginner, but Professor Tanner's kind words received a smile of acknowledgement. Really though, he was just eager to ZOOOOOOOM.

When the advanced group were give the godhead to leave them for the obstacle course, Zeke's face fell. HE wanted to do the obstacle course... but at the same time, he couldn't let Maggie do this without him, so the longing look dissipated quickly.

He listened to their next set of instructions, partially tuning out about the whole stopping and starting thing because he already knew it, what he DID hear though... was that they could practice that, which meant, FLYING.

Still mounted on his broom, Zeke pushed off from the ground harder than he had before, flew STRAIGHT UP, almost as if he was shot out of a cannon. Flying a distance up into the sky, the wind blowing back his hair, Zeke slowed to a stop, hovering so that he could look back down. Was Maggie following? ... perhaps not to this height...

Turning his broom handle down, Zeke descended at a slower pace, one hand steady on the handle while the other waved to encourage others to come up.

Touching down onto the ground Hady did one last walk around the beginners to see how they were doing. Everyone seemed to be alright for the most part and hearing Professor Tanners instructions she was more then ready to get onto the course.

Swinging her leg over her broom she mounted it carefully, gripping the broom firmly in her hands. Kicking her foot off the ground hard she hovered a few feet into the air letting the feeling of flying wash over her. Tipping the handle of her broom downwards just slightly she zipped forward towards the course and was ready to get started. Her hair blew around her face a few strands having come loose from her ponytail as she picked up speed and brought her broom higher into the air keeping on course.

Hady had to remember to keep her attention on all things ahead. Like that bludger! Darn thing was coming straight her way and she hadn't even been on the course more then fifteen seconds. Ducking down her head she locked her eyes on the dreaded thing as she pushed the handle of her broom down a little more laying herself down on it just a bit.

Zooming forward in a rush of cool air that wiped around her she managed to bypass the bludger without any harm coming to her. Those things hurt and she wasn't looking forward to being hit by one. Not today. Hazel eyes taking everything in it appeared that the next few feet of the course were clear. Maybe. Out of nowhere two dummies fly near her one just over her head causing her to push down on the broom so she could move lower and not collide with it, the other just at her side to the left. Insane things these were.

Hady swerved to the right and then the left lifting the handle of her broom ever so slightly to slow down a little bit. The wind on her face and the feeling of being off the ground was one of the best. Right now she didn't want to rush through the course. The longer she could be on her broom, the better.

Did she just hear that Professor Tanner said that she was excellent? Hehehe... Well, she's not that beginner for flying, remember? But not an experienced too so she's just gonna stick as beginner. As she landed on the ground, Ava listened to the next instructions about starting and stopping.

Yeah, she often watched Alec Summers some seekers leaned forward when they were on the air. So it's gonna make her flying faster? She's looking forward to try it by herself.

And now Professor Tanner gave them another chance to fly again. Mounting off her broom, the young lioness kicked the ground very hard and then she started flying again. Higher and higher. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!! Now she's already like... fifteen feet high from the ground. She leaned forward to her broom and.... OHMYGOSH!!! SHE'S FLYING FASTER NOW!!! Merlin, she was SOOOOO excited to be on a broom again! She rode her broom around the pitch and then leaned backward so it slow down her ride. Now it's time to go back to the ground again...
