The Great Hall is flanked by two large, thick, wooden doors that often make a BANG! sound when flung open by dramatic students and/or staff. There are large, beautiful glass windows at the end of the Hall above the staff dais, the usual enchanted ceiling over everyone, and the four regular house tables lined up neatly in the middle.
Whether you make an entrance or choose to simply enter the Great Hall, you'll still be wowed by its size and architecture every time. You might also be pleased to notice the general upgrade in cleanliness, and perhaps a light, pleasantly clean scent from the candles floating above all the tables. Isn't it nice, what money can do for a school?
It was rather easy to ignore and dismiss the looks he was getting from both students. Perhaps if one hadn't shoved the other, and if one hadn't exhibited less decorum than was necessary, then they could all have traveled to the great hall for a bite to eat. As it was, a second lesson was in effect, as soon as all mandatory participants well...participated.
When at last Prince decided that he would comply, Sabel let out a breath he hadn't realized he had been holding. "Thank you."
And then, before either boy could think of retracting his arm or second guessing his decision, Sabel looped one end of the sash around Prince's extended wrist and tied it in place. The other end of the sash was looped and tied around Adiar's wrist. So, while they were bound together, they could still get about a foot or two apart. Proximity, wasn't entirely breached.
Taking a step back, Sabel looked between the boys. "Now, fairly simple. Keep that on." Really, he had a good guess as to what would happen the second he turned his back. "And you are to complete the obstacle course in the DADA practice hall, together. I don't care how you do it, as long as you stay attached until you are finished."
They could be at the very ends of the sash for all he cared, with the fabric taut between them, as long as they made it through. He was more interested in fixing the issue of communication and trust, though there was a nagging thought that this might also be the best way to break those two concepts completely. Either way, it was done. Task was set. And he was sure he'd be getting some more withering glares.
"Questions?"

UH????
Okay, didn't Dakest literally JUST say that Daxton wasn't a fan of personal space breeches?
Great. So the kid hated being close to other people, why not just take a sash that started this whole mess and tie him to someone else so that they'd be FORCED to stay close. Absolutely BRILLIANT. And the worst bit was, Zander Adair had actually kind of seen this coming. Well, not really. But he knew that the arm thing was going to be some sort of test. They weren't just getting a detention. No, that'd be all too easy. And Dakest was like Airey. They were both people who liked to make things very not easy.
But the next bit was... Unexpected.
Obstacle course? So not only did they have to walk around whilst being attached by the arm. But they had to do an OBSTACLE course. Might as well just set the entire school on fire right now. It had to have been coming. Nothing seriously bad had happened at all this year. This was it. This was the Hogwarts plot. Tie Daxton Prince and Zander Adair together and see how long the school remains standing. Bets will start at ten galleons each. Choose wisely.
The Gryffindor glanced over at Daxton to see how the kid was taking all of this. Merlin. This was a terrible day. As for questions, Zander only had one: WHAT WAS THIS MEANT TO ACCOMPLISH? But instead, "Errr, what happens if we don't make it through to the end?" Just wondering.
Also still didn't understand why he was being punished when this was all Daxton's fault in the first place.
Daxton had seen it coming - any idiot would have, though he was certainly no idiot - but that did not mean he was happy with the conversation in the slightest. While Dakest used the sash to link their arms, Daxton gritted his teeth hard and looked off in another direction entirely. He could not help but tense up - Dakest was too close too close too close and he did not like it one bit - and even when the man stepped away the Ravenclaw did not relax, not one iota. The only redeeming part of this was that the sash was not tied with magic, so he would be able to get himself free at any moment, and he fully intended that moment to be soon.
While Dakest spoke, Daxton kept his gaze fixed at a point away from either him or the Head Boy, his jaw set, chest visibly rising and falling as he took deep, steadying breaths. Calm, he needed to remain calm. Nobody could see him not calm, not if he could help it.
Daxton lowered his arm again, the movement sharp and deliberate, intended to jerk the older boy's hand as uncomfortably as possible, as it was all his fault they were in this situation in the first place, and now he was trapped, tied to him. He hated this. He hated him.
An obstacle course while tied together? Yes, because that was so smart. Not dangerous at all. Surely there were some sort of health and safety regulations that were being breached here, breached along with Daxton's precious personal space.
Daxton had been trying to tune them both out, to forget they were there, to zone out entirely. It was the only way he thought he would be able to get through that stupid obstacle course with this Gryffindor attached to his arm, but he was unable to ignore the sash tied around his wrist. Daxton looked down at it now, and while the Head Baby asked his stupid question (except not that stupid, because Daxton wanted to know the answer too, but he was not about to admit it), he tugged at the material, trying to loosen it, to free his wrist up just a little, and to make sure he could get it off when the opportunity eventually arose, make it easier to slip away.
Still he did not acknowledge Professor Dakest or Head Boy Zander Adair, but he absolutely took the opportunity to give the sash a good jerk a couple of times, to make his frustration regarding the matter well known, while not affording either of them his direct attention. It was clearly not a tug that signalled for the older boy to come closer, but a sign of Daxton's deep displeasure, expressed in the only way he knew how, much like when he had shoved Adair not too long ago.
What, exactly, was the point in any of this? That may have been Daxton's question, but he was ignoring Dakest now, and would not allow himself to ask anything.

Merlin, by the way both boys were reacting an observer would have thought he had told them the sash would never come off and they would have to live together, like this, for the rest of their lives. The obstacle course wasn't even up the moving staircase, how much of a bonus was that?
Finishing with his handiwork, Sabel stepped back and considered the two of them, his gaze finally resting on Adair as he spoke. "Don't believe I gave that as an option to you." Really, it wasn't impossible, just a bit tricky. Something both these kids needed to wrap their heads around.
While he had thought to leave the exercise to trust, and let the boys work out their differences without the watchful gaze of a Professor, Sabel quickly had other ideas when Prince started tugging and jerking at the sash. "Let's go. The sooner this is done, the sooner you two can go on your own ways." And sulk.
Turning, Sabel started them off towards the practice room.
OOC: So sorry for the delay >.< Up to you two if you want to RP this out....it's been a while since the incident, so I'll leave it up to you guys

Zander wasn’t a super observant guy, but he could definitely tell that Daxton wasn’t a fan of this set up. Quite frankly, neither was Zander. Except the Gryffindor was trying not to cause anymore trouble. Didn’t need their legs to be bound together too. Honestly, what was Professor Dakest trying to accomplish here because it wasn’t—AH.
Whatever. It was fine. The jerking was fine. Zander wasn’t going to think anything of it.
… Not an option. K. Zander had figured as much, but still… The answer wasn’t helpful. It just meant they didn’t really have a choice. There wasn’t any way of—AH!
REALLY, AGAIN????
WHAT WAS THAT FOR?
The Gryffindor turned his head sharply to give Daxton Prince a “WHAT THE HECK?” kind of look. Okay, this was DEFINITELY intention. Did Professor D see this?? THE TUGGING??? Now did he think this was such a great idea? Because honestly, they’d be lucky if ANYONE made it out of that obstacle course alive. By the time Zander and Daxton got through it, the seventh year was sure the entirety of Hogwarts would’ve fallen apart.
Seeing the Professor turn around, Zander turned again to squint at the boy again modeling one of those ‘WHAT THE HECK’ kind of looks before stepping forward. Daxton was coming, right? Because Zander wasn’t going to stop and wait. He wanted to get this thing over with as soon as possible.

Stupid. This was so stupid. Being tethered to the Head Baby and being made to complete an obstacle course together, probably for the professor's weird amusement. There was no sense in any of it.
Gradually, Daxton managed to loosen the sash around his wrist, very subtly, so he now felt sure that he could slip out of it if and when he wanted to, which made him feel... marginally better. In fact, if he positioned his hand just so inside the loop, it was more like he was holding onto it than being tied at one end. That really did make him feel better.
As Daxton led them away and Zander started after him, Daxton followed along too. But he could not quite resist the urge to give the sash another great tug, simply because was unhappy, and simply because he could.
