Once again, it's early morning. Same as the past few lessons had been, though the light was significantly fainter what with the winter months and all. So rolling out of bed might have been harder, eating might have been slower and venturing to the classroom might have been more effort than it seemed worth. Especially when the classroom was divided right down the middle with a cold, stone grey wall. A single wooden door had been placed right in it's center. Of all the things, this hardly could have looked like anything exciting or worth an early morning rise, it was just that type of wall.
What perhaps saved the classroom were two odd things. The first, a large, round bowl-type structure right beside the bowl, filled with the queerest colored water. It was a pale blue, and reflected light as if it was coming from the bottom of the bowl. Sabel stood close by the bowl, looking rather serious, as a Defense Professor might.
The second odd thing, or perhaps more remarkable, was that if one looked up they would find that the ceiling seemed like it was moving. If one looked closer, they would be able to discern that the movement was not the brick or the boards, but snitches. Hundreds of them, milling above, some zipping back and forth among the others.
There are however, no brooms or ladders or really, anything that looked like it could fly.
Just a bowl and a serious looking Professor.
There are however, benches available for sitting if one is tired of the floor.

Zeke nodded, his idea registered, and in listening, the others were quite good too. What interested him the most though, was what Sabel told them next. A honing spell sounded all sorts of amazing, and had he known that was possible before, he would have learnt it already. He was salivating just THINKING of the possibilities.
He watched, a slight frown turning down his brows. This was purely as a result of concentration, as he absorbed the information they were given.
When given the freedom to practice, he did so.
First with the wand moment, line to the side and forward flick. Line to the side, forward flick. Line to the side, forward flick. Content with his wand movement, Zeke tested out the incantation, the word rolling slowly from his tongue. "Per-seq-uo-ris...... Per-seq-uoris..... Persequoris"

Her answer had been received well and she offered a slight nod of the head in return. Sometimes protecting ones self was more important then attacking at that given moment. Nothing wrong with insuring ones safety first...though there was nothing at all wrong with being a bit reckless at times also.
As everyone around her gave their answers she thought about all the different ways those ideas could be used in a duel. It all made sense and she was already given several ideas that she could use if the need arose. Adi's reply caused her to cringe slightly remembering the stupid birds and how they caused her to lose her focus, not to mention what had happened along with that.
They were moving on. Learning the honing spell. Nice. A small flick of her wrist and her wand was set firmly in her hand. Line to the side, forward flick. Hady slowly preformed this wand movement a handful of times until she was content with it. Now for the incantation. "Persequoris...persequoris...persequoris..," she whispered softly to herself getting a feel for the way it sounds. Strange spell this was.

Apparently Dakest DID get what Adi was trying to say. AWESOME! But what surprised him was that his answer had come closest to their topic today. DOUBLE AWESOME! He tried not to look too pleased with himself as he started making notes on the Homing Spell. Yep, this spell was exactly what Adi had been trying to get at with his earlier reply to that question.
Alrightey! Practice time!
''Persequoris! Persequoris... Persequoris.'' It was said aloud first until he got accustomed to the incantation before he moved onto repeating it in his head multiple times. Now for the wand movement. A line to the side and then a flick forwards... repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat annnnd got it!

Over the course of this year, mostly for Dueling Club but also for NEWT reasons, Benzi had gone back and retaught himself all the spells he'd ever learned, read about or briefly heard of. Long hours in the practice room and one particular incident where he'd blown something up (he'd fixed it straight after not to worry) had made him quite the expert on mastering spells.
Therefore, he wasn't worried about learning and executing this new homing spell but he did have more than a few questions about it. Muttering the incantation once and finding that the wand movement was simple, Benzi waited a few moments and then raised his arm. "Professor, how exactly does this spell work? Can a shield charm deflect it or only solid objects? Can you combine a verbal incantation with nonverbal Persequoris. or do they count as one single incantation when combined? Could one hypothetically outrun it or fly away quickly enough? What would happen if one disapparated or used a spell to disappear and reappear in the same vicinity, would that confuse it? And what would happen if the target multiplied itself after the spell had already been cast? Would the homing spell know instinctively which duplicate was the real deal?" and he'd probably have more questions if he actually took the time to think about the logistics of it.
His duel with Evie had taught the seventh year many things, and he'd been fervently reading up on the pros and cons of the Gemino charm ever since. He was particularly interested in the relationship between the copies and the original and what exactly were the differences. If he could pinpoint those then he'd hypothetically be able to spot a fake copy and the charm would be rendered useless against him.
But, regrettably, this wasn't the topic of today's lesson. The homing spell was. Right.

Yoongi was again, uncharacteristically silent while sitting on a bench and watching the class progress. Not that he wasn’t paying attention though. He was hanging on every word and made notes here and there in the notebook on his lap. These things could become useful in his next duel. He was still bumped that he had lost against the Ravenclaw. And it had made him realise that dueling isn’t just about attacking, it’s about planning and waiting as well, something Tia had done…and she had won even though she had used less magic. It had been something he had been thinking about a lot lately. Perhaps that was why he was quiet? He did hate losing…
When the time came to practise the incantations, Yoongi ran a hand through his now red coloured hair and stood up. He flicked his wrist and his phoenix feathered wand fell in his hand and then he looked around. So they had to practise both the movement and incantation right? He’d start with the wand movement first so he moved his wand a line to the side and then a forward flick. He repeated the action. Line to the side, forward flick, and again..and again. The incantation would be a bit more difficult as the spell was very weird to pronounce, at least he thought so. “Perse….persequoras..” no that wasn't right. Yoongi frowned and focused on what the other students all around him were saying. “Persequioris…Persequoris…Persequoris” got it.

Oliver took out his wand, but kept his eyes on professor Dakest. What was that wand movement again? Line to the side, and then flick forward. That seemed easy enough. But the speed looked like it played a part, too. He had to move fairly quickly. Line to the side and flick, faster. Olly repeated the motion a few times with his wand in his hand, his gaze flickering between the professor for an example, and his own wand to make sure he was doing it right. Yeah, it seemed pretty good.
"Persequoris." Olly tried to say it out loud, but it was kind of hard to wrap his head around it. Or, lips, actually. It was a weird word. Hard to say. But he had to keep trying until he could do it correctly, so that he would be able to do the spell. Olly kept repeating the incantation under his break. Persequoris, persequoris....

Ava just nodded at Professor's comment about her idea. Then she heard the man talked about homing spell. Ooooooh, could she use this at her upcoming duel? Hehehe. Maybe not.
And now, it's time to practice the spell. She took her wand from the holster and tried the wand movement. First, she needed to line to the side and flicked it forward. And it combined with the other spell too? Cool!! "Professor, could you demonstrate how to combine this spell with others?" PRETTY PLEASE?????? And of course she's gonna continue practice the wand movement. And the incantation too.
"Persequoris....... Persequoris........" To be honest that the incantation was NOT easy.

Aha, there WAS a homing spell! And you could combine it with other spells to ensure that your hit your target! Fantastic. Davie's instincts were right.
He practiced the wand movement for this spell first, drawing his wand to the side and then sharply flicking it forward. "Persequoris," the first year chanted to himself. "Per-seq-uor-is. PERSEQUORIS!" Yeah, it was a mouthful, but he thought he had it. "So you cast your offensive spell first, and then follow up with the homing spell right away, professor? Like Ava said, will you demonstrate that for us?" He wanted to make sure he'd have it right in his notes for later.

So he had been roughly on the right track in the way of options as well as Benzi and Evie in difference to the students mentioning effecting the person. But Professor Dakest in turn had his own point in the matter and Benny nodded in understanding at it. Manipulating the surroundings also ran the chance of challenging himself, or the caster in general, in the process. Then there was no real advantage to the spell if you got in trouble with your own offensive magic.
Looked like Adi and others like him with more unique ideas had also made a good point. The seventh year badger the closest with oppugno by Dakest's own words. Way to go boyfriend! Cue small look beside him at Adi. Benny listened to all that was being said and taking down notes for later reference, especially as the spell of the day they would be working with was introduced with wand movement and incantation.
And now for the practice.
"Persequoris...." he said, attempting to get his mouth around the incantation. "Persequoris...Persequoris." It was a mouthful for sure. But was it PER-se-Quor-is? Or Per-SE-quor-IS? The Gryffindor was trying to think back to how the professor had said it and matching it up.
...Merlin, who died? Dakest looked like the world was about to end. Was this really him? Was it a polyjuiced Dakest? Had someone imperiused him? Was he not acting on his own accord? Sophie didn't know, but the fact that he wasn't even slightly chipper to see HER made her very, very suspicious. Why was he so serious? Was it their topic today, or had something really happened? What was going on?
No matter the circumstance, she was gonna find out.
Still, at his response to her, she gave a shrug. She knew it still left the problem of hitting the target, but since everyone else was throwing out spells, it didn't hurt to touch upon their ideas and add some food for thought to the discussion. He didn't seem displeased with her, though, so she didn't let it deter her.
A homing spell, though? She knew they existed, and obviously that made sense as the best way to lock in on a target, but she'd never learned one before. Per-se-quor-is. Cool word, and Soph made a mental picture of the word since she was still standing and didn't have any way to take notes at the moment. As her wand hung in her hand by her side, she found herself subconsciously copying the professor's wand movement as he taught it to them. A swift line to the side, then a sharp flick forward. Easy enough, and as Dakest gave them the go-ahead to practice, Soph did just that.
"Persequoris... Perrrr-seee-quorrrr-isssss... Per-se-QUOR-is... Persequoris," she murmured to herself, letting each syllable roll from her tongue, testing out different stresses of syllables to see which one felt the best. She halted her practice endeavors to listen to Benzi's question, which was a good one and something she wanted to hear the answer to, so she switched from reciting the incantation to practicing the wand movement. Line to the side, forward flick. Over and over again, her attention shifting between Benzi and serious!Dakest.

The homing spell?!
Phillip snapped his attention back towards Dakest when he started mentioning the spell and the wand movement. Follow your target with a vengeance. He didn't know why but, all of a sudden, the first year was starting to imagine a number of arrow-shaped objects chasing after an unknown opponent. Was THAT what it did? Because it was DEFINITELY going to be a spell to remember. So much so, that the boy took out a notebook and scribbled it down inside. There.
Next step came the practising, which didn't look like it was going to be EASY what with the snitches up there. They were distracting, you know. So, furrowing his eyebrows, the first year looked down at the floor and started chanting to himself, "Persequoris........ perrrrrrseeeeequoooooooirissssssss!" That sounded about right. "Persequoiris........... persequoiris......." You know, this wasn't an easy spell to say. Phillip found himself chanting out the spell more than any other spell he had had to chant out for practice reasons.
When he was finally -- F I N A L L Y -- sure he had the pronunciation down, the Slytherin turned his attention towards the wand movement. Was this easier than saying the spell? YOU BET. Line to the side and then flick forwards! How simple was that? M U C H more simple. In fact, Phillip was even enjoying the flicking forwards motion they had to make.

Evie took pride in her answer, especially when Dakest seemed to agree that it was a good one. He'd understand, as an auror. Besides, she had gotten that idea from him when they dueled last term and now she used it as often as she could in dueling club.
She listened carefully as he moved on, eager that they seemed to be about to learn a new spell. The homing spell... Evie quickly grabbed her little notebook out of her bag and scribbled down a couple notes on this homing sell. Persequoris - to hunt, chase. Follows target until it hits it or it is stopped. Merlin, this was brilliant. Why didn't he teach them this before dueling club had started?!
Lifting her eyes from her notebook, Evie watched carefully as Dakest demonstrated the wand movement. Then she put away her notebook and tried to test it out on her own. "Persequoris," she said to herself. Then she used her wand and silently drew it to the left and flicked it forward. Seemed easy enough...

Persequoris.
Interesting... Rooney made a few notes on what Professor Dakest was saying and then looked at his peer students to figure out how they were saying it and practicing it. Because it was much easier to hear ten people say something over and over than to just take one persons demonstration for it. He watched Miss Sophie Brown (Head Girl of Hogwarts) for the longest time, with a stupid smile on his face as she was definitely amazing at this.
He too, copied the wand movement that went alongside the homing spell a few times before pocketing his wand and reciting the incantation, eyes still fixeed on the Head Girl.
"Per.." Wow, pretty. "Perse.." So, so pretty. "Persequo..." Did she know that her hair was particularly shiny today? Good shiny, not greasy shiny. GOOD shiny. "Persequoris. Persequoris!"
As the professor spoke, Jet either listened sitting still or she would go back to nodding her head, especially when he went on to mention the specific spell they would be studying that day.
"Persequoris." The Slytherin said once and immediately felt confident. She had never heard of that incantation before, but it naturally rolled off her tongue.
The fifth year then proceeded to practising the wand movement. It was almost as natural as the incantation, but Jet repeated it a couple of times until she felt like it was more than 'good enough'.

Paulina made sure to write down everything that she felt would be important for NEWTs. The time was getting closer, and she was starting to feel the pressure to do well. It wasn't so bad though since she wasn't going to try for all 12 exams like some people did.
Homing spells.
Interesting. That thought had never occurred to her, but Paulina could definitely see how they could come in handy. She made a note of the incantation and wand movement before moving on to practicing. This shouldn't be too hard, but she wanted to get the pronunciation down perfectly. Professor York's last lesson came to mind and made her smile because of the craziness.
"Persequoris," Paulina said as she tried to get a hang of the incantation. "Per-see-quor-is...Per-see-quor-is...Per-see-quor-is." And one more time all together: "Persequoris." Now on to the wand movement.
Paulina picked up her wand and made a line to the side and a forward flick. She repeated the motion a few more times until she thought she had it down perfectly.
Angel now had to do some practicing and she smiled as she heard the Professors warning about her answer, well yes maybe she would only do it if she was desperate, she totally thought that the professor was nice to listen to her answer though.
Angel took out her wand and started to practice the wand movement, she did it once... twice... three times and then a fourth time for luck, because sometimes that came into play right.
"Persequoris!" Angel now had to practice the incantation, with the wand down, she didn't want anything going wrong, she started to practice it. "Per...se...quo...ris!!" That sounded like it was right, though she wasn't sure if that was or not but she could always figure it out. "Persequoris!" Angel loved this spell and she totally wanted to put it all together now to see it's effect but she knew she had to wait.

He hadn't had any questions about the spell, but when that Ravenclaw Prefect, Ryder, asked a whole bunch, he realised how stupid he had been to not have any at all. And WHEN, had he not had questions before? There was something wrong with him...
Intrigued, he watched for Sabel to respond, because those were great questions, and ones he SHOULD have thought of himself. Merlin help him if he started flunking out of DADA.
Which was why Dante said you could try. If you sucked then too bad you missed. But he was just going to say quiet and listened. Since this strategy has worked for Dante in the past. Oppugno sounded like an awesome spell but the next one sounded fancy to Dante. No idea why. Though it did sound like a place Dante could visit if he ever had money on him or you know not spending that money on stupid stuff.
It was a problem.
"Persequoris"
Line to the side, forward flick. Easy enough with his wand, Though he still needed to work on the spell.
"Persequoris"
Yawn.
Oh that was not good.

Alright a homing spell, he could try that. Yeah. Zander was more about the defensive spells than he was the offensive… But alas. Zander had a vague idea of the spell before, knowing that there should be one of those, as there was practically a spell for everything. Except, he hadn’t ever heard of this one, so he didn’t even think to mention it. Persequoris. Interesting.
Talk about a mouthful. Per se quor is. Very interesting.
He quickly jotted down a few quick notes before taking out his wand and trying to keep up with Professor Dakest. Quick line to the side and forward flick. Not too bad. He repeated the movement a couple of times out of habit. To hunt and to chase. Actually it was kind of cool, even Zander had to admit that he liked the sound of that.
The Gryffindor looked around the room a bit as he went to begin practice with the incantation. Uh. Why was Rooney looking at Sophie like that? Per-se-“… his eyes were dead set? ”quor-is-“ like the boy was hardcore oogling at her? ”Persequoris,” Not that Zander cared or anything, ”Persequoris,” the kid was a second year. Rooney was no threat. Plus Zander was already dating Sophie Brown and ”Persequoris,” Wait why was he still considering this? This was silly. Absolutely ridiculous, right Soph?

Still proud of herself for being right as to what the bowl thing sitting there by Professor Dakest had been, Brooklyn had simply listened to the discussion about spells, the homing spell in particular. Honestly, she was less interested in the snitches flying around than she was in the pensieve and why it was there. Whether they were going to be using it, or if the professor just had his own memories stored in there and it had nothing to do with the lesson at all. She wasn’t planning on asking, though. She wasn’t a Claw after all, as she’d glanced over at the Claw boy who had asked all those questions once they’d been released to practice the homing spell. At least, to practice the incantation and the wand movement. She didn’t think the professor wanted them actually trying the spell yet. Not that she was really inclined to try it anyhow.
First, she took her wand out and moved it in the direction they’d been shown. Straight line, then a flick forward. The funny part about that was she felt more like she was pushing something away than anything else, which she kind of liked. Even though she didn’t see how that was related to what the spell was supposed to do.
Either way, there was still the second half to practice. Setting her wand in her lap, she closed her eyes, focusing. “Persequoris,” she said clearly. “Per-se-quo-ris. Persequoris.” A few more repetitions and she felt like she had that part down. Hopefully. She wasn’t about to listen to anyone else who was working on the pronunciation, unless it was Professor Dakest. She didn’t trust many of the others not to try and mess her up, and she refused to fail.

If baby peacocks could preen with their little downy feathers, then Dot was preening like a baby peacock. She had answered the question RIGHT and got a full NOD and the professor liked what she said and it was probably what Ravenclaws felt like all the time. The rightness of being clever.
And they were going to learn a homing spell, which sounded dead useful, so not only was she right, but the spell wasn't a total bust. (Only... what was the blue stuff, okay? Could they talk about that soon?)
In the meantime, Dot was going to practice the spell and maybe creep a little closer to Mr. Professor Face so they could nod at each other some more. As one did. "Persequoris." What a mouthful. Per-seck-kwor-is. And the motion, too, was more involved then the standard spell. Luckily, it was a charm, and Dot had great confidence in her ability to learn charms. Warranted confidence or not.
"Persequoris." And again with the motion. "Psst. Professor. What's the blue stuff?" So much for patience."
Norah scribbled down notes on the incantation, giving her parchment a quizzical look before feeling around in her bag for her wand. How did it...work? Did you do it before the other spell or after it? Had Professor Dakest said that? She didn't pursue the curiosity any further (the OTHER questions she had about the snitches and the doors and everything would probably spill right out), and instead reread the incantation. Persequoris. No biggie, right?
Persequoris...Persequoris... Persequoris. That was a funny word to say. Per-se-quo-ris. Extra funny. Aaaaand a line to the side and forward flick with her wand. It was a funny movement TOO. What was with this spell? She wasn't going to judge it too much for being weird, though. Maybe she'd even like it better for that very reason.
"Per-se...kwaah..ris..what?" Henric tried to recite the spell but failed to do so. Nevermind, he would practice with his wand movement first. He moved his wand, making sure he did exactly what Professor Dakest told them to do.
Alright, done...
"PER-SE-KWA-RIS...nope...that doesn't sound right...Per-se-aquaris!"he cast confidently but nothing happened. Huh? Did he pronounce the spell incorrectly. He paused to listen once more to his classmates incantations.Oh...it sounded like that! Alright then, let's do the spell again...

A homing spell! So there was one. It sounded like a VERY COOL spell too. Persistent, follows target with a vengeance and speed. It made Owen very ecstatic to learn the spell even though he still yawned every now and then. Owen wrote down the important points on his notebook first before practicing. Persequoris."Perse..kwaris? .....Persekworeez? That sounds about right. Persequoris. Per-sek-wo-ris." Nodding to himself, Owen repeated the incantation a few more times until he was satisfied.
Next, he pulled out his wand, rotated his wrists around to warm up and began practicing the wand movement. Liiine, and flick!
Another yawn escaped Nells mouth. She gave a half yawn half grin to Phillip as he made his way over to her. Nells had seen the benches but she would have open range than be squished in between people on benches. She was a firstie after all and quite little.
"Hey.. " She said another yawn escaping as she smiled at Phillip. She was grateful he plopped beside her because now... Pillow. Leaning into him and placing her head on his shoulder, she might just fall asleep now.
But wait,
Professor Dakest was speaking now.
Noelle listened. She didn't have a problem listening since eye candy was speaking, even when she was too tired to function. It was early okay? Nells kept her head on Phillips shoulder, as long as her let her, and listened as other on the room started giving answers. She supposed she could give one. "The Leg- Locker curse would be a good one professor, I think." She had read up on it... Ahem... Or rather skimmed over it during some reading.
Noelle figured it might come in handy one day, which is why she had remembered it.
Earlier that morning Sabbath had dragged his tired carcass into Professor Dakests' classroom and slumped himself down next to Noelle on the floor. He'd rested his head on her lap, covered his face with his newly acquired black hat that he'd stolen from the snowman building competition (he knew it would come in handy) and had promptly fallen back asleep.
He awoke just now with a start! Opa!, had he missed the entire lesson? He took his hat off his face and sat up bleary eyed and looked around him. People were casting spells, but he had absolutely no idea what for. "Psst, Nells, Whats happening? Why didn't you wake me up?" He said, laughing "It's your fault I'm this sleepy anyway", he teased her giving her a little shove with his shoulder.
