DADA 1 - Old Ruins & Forest (DADA lesson main activity)
So, hopefully this little place would be much more exciting for the kidlets than the broom closet. Hopefully. Unless someone was allergic to the outdoors, pollen or got stung by bees. Hopefully, this would go over well.
Hopefully, he wouldn't loose anyone.
Their destination was one not common to the grounds, and which had been charmed according to the groundskeeper's approval. It had been an interesting conversation, but at last the stage was set. A series of stone ruins lay nestled among thin, fall-colored trees. A brook ran through the center of the area, and a low mist hung about the mossy forest floor. All in all, a rather serene and inviting place in the mid of afternoon, but likely to be rather unsettling once dark fell.
Hopping up on one of the ruined walls, Sabel turned and sat down, facing the class. "This, will be your playground for the remainder of the lesson." Reaching behind the wall, he pulled up a bag full of multi-colored sashes, placing it beside him. "And these are your goals."
Was this better than the broom closet?
"We are going to play a bit of hide-and-seek tag out here. What you will do, is you will disillusion yourself, or hide yourself by any of the means we discussed during class. Remember, that you can disillusion your whole being as well as your clothes. Again, you will be looking for your classmates. Or rather, these."
Picking up the bag, Sabel pulled out a few of the sashes, one for each house color. "Each of you will start out with one of these. In order to collect more of these, you must find and tag your classmates. If and when you are tagged, you must end your disillusionment, if you are in fact disillusioned, and give up one of your sashes. The receiver does not have to disillusion themselves. Keep in mind however, that if you disillusion yourself to receive the sash, you are fair game for anyone, besides the person giving you the sash, to tag and steal a sash from. Those giving up their sash are safe for five seconds after the transfer before they can be tagged again. The goal is to get as many of these sashes as possible. If you have no sashes left and you are tagged, nothing happens."
Simple enough, right? He paused, searching the faces of the students to see if it was indeed.
"So, be smart, be sneaky and be inventive. Use your environment. Think outside the box. Apply what we learned in class today. Keep yourself hidden and get yourself under cover again as soon as possible if you are tagged."
Hoping off the rock, Sabel began making his way through the students and handing out the sashes. "While inventive methods are allowed and encouraged, please refrain from using any spells that may cause injury. Try to stick with our topics today and their applications."
Once all the sashes were handed out, Sabel moved to the front of the class and draped the sash over the rock wall. "One other thing, this is a house versus house activity. So, teamwork will be important and come into play. You can transfer sashes between your teammates, but you must still find and tag them. Strategize as you will."
Stepping back, Sabel held out his hands to either side of him. "And with that, I release you!"
Game. On.
---------- OOC: Heya again all! So this is the main activity. Hopefully pretty straight forward.
Objective is to get as many sashes for your house as possible. Each student starts out with one sash, and you can obtain more by physically TAGGING another student. When tagged, the student must disillusion themselves and hand over ONE sash. The tagger does not have to disillusion themselves, but if they do, they are fair game for being tagged. The taggie is safe for 5 seconds after being tagged.
While you can post disillusioning and tagging in the same post, please keep in mind to be realistic and allow time for other people to respond. That being said, as a friendly reminder, do NOT RP the outcome of your spell or finding attempt for the student you are trying to find. You can RP the attempt of your character to find someone, but please leave it up to them whether they are found or not. Again, please be realistic
Please make sure you title your posts with post number AND number of sashes you have
Also, minimum of three posts for this activity please
If you have any questions, please ask I'll pop in tomorrow again after work. This is the last activity, so the lesson will officially close in approximately 48 hours (by September 22 at 11:30pm GMT-6).

One would have thought that the designated head prefect would have had a smarter plan for hiding than the one he had opted for.
Of course, there was not much time to continue on this line of thinking, because not a moment later, he had grabbed Daxton's hand.
Daxton froze, his eyes going wide as he stared at their hands, unable to do much else. It felt as though a thousand volts were going through his hand, like it was burning, and after a split second Daxton wrenched it away again.
Once the panic had passed, anger quickly took over. When the sash was dangled in front of him, Daxton snatched it from the older boy and promptly responded with an almighty shove (not unlike the time when Char had grabbed his hand when they had first met, causing Daxton to send her right into the fountain), maybe even giving the Head Boy an accidental zap with his wand at the same time. He did not hang around to exchange pleasantries (or not-so-pleasantries), but turned on his heel, shoving the second sash down his shirt with the first as he went.
Moments later, Daxton had scaled his way back to the top of his wall in the ruins, turned, and fixed the Head Boy with an unmistakeable glare. By his side, Daxton flexed and shook the hand that had been grabbed, trying to shake off the pseudo-pain that lingered. He had not even been hiding, and yet someone had still managed to inflict physical contact on him. This entire game was stupid.
Daxton took both sashes out from his shirt and bunched them up in his hand. In his other hand, he gripped his pine wand tightly. Nobody else was getting near him. Nobody.
So uh, he had managed to get on his feet for a good few seconds before he was pushed back onto the ground again. And not that Zander wasn't strong or anything because he was working out, okay?!?!!!!?, but for such a small firstie, Daxton really had some power behind that push. Not to mention, Zander wasn't completely stable yet and everything. So he had fallen. Again. But this time, it was the result of a very angry shove.
And all Zander could do is wince (again) "Oi!" and let his mouth hang slightly ajar in shock. "What the heck was that for!??!?" He looked up with his brows furrowed, but the kid was already gone. And Zander was sitting on his bum in the middle of the game field. Definitely scratched up. Possibly with a bleeding chin (he wasn't quite sure yet). And also, now his bum REALLY hurt. Ugh. Maybe he did prefer the broom closet.
That kid was absolutely mental. Zander still wasn't sure what he did that merited the shove???? So he returned Daxton's pointed glare with a look of absolute "WHAT THE HECK, SERIOUSLY???".
Merlin.
This badge sure earned him a lot of enemies. Clearly the badges fault, 'cause Zander had hardly even said anything to the kid. Merlin.

And now he faced the problem that he side-tracked earlier. How to find people when they were invisible. That was literally impossible. He did think of using his wand to spray water around and see if it'd bounce on any concealed body but that would backfire and make HIM visible for anyone. Not a smart idea at all he needed another one. But time was running out and he had only one available choice that was most likely to work eventually.
The small Ravenclaw wandered around carefully making sure not to make any sounds or step on anything that would give away his location. Oh look trees! That could help. First he could sit there and watch everything and see if someone stepped on anything or made a sound while he was completely concealed. PERFECT plan! The first-year walked up there eagerly. And just as he was passing one of the trees to stand behind the other he bumped into something.. or someone!!
Immediately Aldous extended his arm and grabbed whatever he could. Which was clothes. He paused for a moment before speaking, "I just tagged you... I think." Whoever this was. And what now? They should be disillusioning themselves right? That's what the professor said. Or was it the other way around.
Hady hadn't moved at all. At least until she was bumped into that is. Where in the world did this kid come from?! It was a kid or well someone younger then her.
Frowning slightly she almost had to laugh. Whoever it was had tagged her due to luck it seemed. "Yeah, you got me," She replied reached out and attempting to grab the kids arm to steady him since he had grabbed her shirt.
"Finite." She cast on herself cancelling the disillusioning charm so he'd see her.
Sitting up a little she removed her sash and held it out to him. Or it sounded like a him anyways. Once he took the sash from her she'd be able to disillusion herself again and hide somewhere else.
Aldous was expecting a little bit of resisting or any sort of fighting back. But that didn't happen and he couldn't have been happier because he had no thoughts on how to deal with that sort of comeback. But now that the person, who was a girl judging by the sound of the voice, was handing over her sash just like that he started to feel suspicious.
Was this some kind of trick? Her handing it over then cornering him again or something?
The Ravenclaw cautiously accepted the sash with his invisible hand and threw it over his shoulder on top of the first one. He was gonna stay careful so that she wouldn't advance on him or anything. So he took a couple of silent steps backwards then murmured,"ok," Which was a useless thing to say but he felt like he needed to say something before taking off.
So with that he turned on his heels and walked away.

So that ended that indecision.
Dot touched the boy on the arm and hissed at him quietly under her breath. "Tag. Give me your sash and I'll let you hide with me. I'll even make you invisible."
Blink.
So...whoever he just found...was tagging him and asking for his sash? Well...how to the point. Blaise gave a small shrug before yanking at the sash that he now claimed as his own. "I don't have a sash with me anymore but I have this one--'cept you can't have it 'cause I found it and that makes it mine." He won it fair and square cause he found her.
The boy DID like the idea of being invisible though. He almost felt like everyone but him and Daxton were.
This made his choice an easy one. Blaise extended the invisible sash toward the invisible voice. "You can have this one if you make me invisible and let me hide with you. My notepad took notes of where most everyone went."
See? Fair trade.

Angel was still trying to figure out where anyone was, she was searching around and walking around not sure how this game was supposed to work, with everyone being invisible until the sash had gone then how where they supposed to feel for the sash or was it just guessing.
Angel felt like she was going to struggling like crazy, she had sung but now she had stopped because she didn't want anyone knowing where she was and she was still walking so at least she wasn't in the same spot, she felt like zig zagging to get away from the other students but well that wouldn't be fun and at the minute she was wishing she could actually find someone.

He waved,"Hello, umm...if you don't mind...is it okay if I go with you? Its fine if you don't want to...I can just go hide,"he smiled.Partners? They would get more coverage of the area to make the search easier right? Also, he needed a recap of the game rules again.
As someone waved to her, Paulina stopped in her tracks.
How could this boy see her? As far as she knew, she was completely invisible. Confused it took her a second to realize that he was probably just hearing the noises that she was making as she moved. Note to self: be quieter next time.
Hey. Can you see me?" Because it would be good to know in case she had done something wrong. Paulina had hoped to go unseen for the rest of the class because she had no real desire to play the game. Honestly, she wasn't even too sure if she knew HOW to play it. All she knew was it was like hide and seek and that they needed to get sashes. "You can come with me if you want, but I'm not really playing." She didn't want to hold the boy back if he wanted to win the game.

Taking care to be very, very, quiet, she slowly got up from her hiding place. Taking every step carfully, Janelle walked around the walls of the ruins, listening for any sound of life. She was trying ver hard not to give away her position in the process.
Too bad Janelle could not perform nonverbal spells because that would be extremely helpful right about now. Walking like a ninja, she continued to circle around the walls hoping to get a clue of someone's presence. Then a thought struck her. Hiding near a wall might be an obvious choice, but what would be the most unlikely place to hide near a wall? With an invisible smile on her face, she crept up close to the wall near Professor Dakest. And then Janelle waited and listened. Would someone dare hide themselves close to the professor. Of course they would. Were her ears playing tricks on her or was someone besides the professor there? Taking out her wand, Janelle softly said, "Finite". She didn't want to give her position away if she hadn't guessed right.
So far, her choice of hiding spot seemed like it had been a good idea. Others had gotten tagged and made visible, yet Brooklyn still held her position below the professor, happily Disillusioned. There were a few who had seemed to also take positions elsewhere on or around the wall, but nobody had sensed her presence. She’d been staying as still as possible, too, barely breathing so she wasn’t risking advertising her position. That and she was listening intently, a good thing as she heard a rustle nearby followed by a whispered spell. Oh, she wasn’t making it that easy to catch her. Not at all.
Dropping nearly silently to the ground, she felt the spell rush over her head, barely rustling her hair as she tried to get as low as possible. Checking herself, she was relieved when it didn’t look as if she’d lost her invisibility. Now all that was left was taking revenge for whoever had tried to tag her. Minus the actually tagging, really, so her sash was fine for the time being. But she lifted her wand a fraction, aiming in the direction she’d heard the whisper come from. “Homenum revelio,” she whispered, hoping it hit.

Yup. He was right! She was there all along."Nope, its just my ultra super-sensitive hearing powers detecting your movements from here," he replied her with a straight face. But he couldn't hold his laughter for long so he burst out laughing.Oops...quiet, Henric! They were supposed to be in hiding.Sheesh. Honestly, he saw her went into the same direction as him and she wasn't exactly silent in her movements. Crunching sounds of fallen leaves from the footsteps she made sort of gave her position away.
Henric had yet to disillusion himself so she could still see him."Cool, okay I come with you,I thought of hiding myself well enough somewhere so I can have a little shut-eye. You're Paulina, right? Let's go hide on one of the abandoned ruins over there..."he whispered and pointed to their potential hiding location. After that, he used his wand to cast himself invisible. "Disillusio."

"I'm Paulina, yes. And you're Henric?" She had seen him with Adi, but wasn't sure if he was also Benny's friend. In a moment he was hidden as well, and they were ready to go!

Janelle was sure someone was there. She just felt it. When no one was revealed to her after she cast her spell, she was all kinds of disappointed. Had they avoided her or was she imagining things. Nope, she wasn't. Janelle heard a spell being whispered back at her. Momentarily unsure of what to do, she tried to get out of the way.......but quietly.
Janelle's attempt was not as successful as her target classmate. This did not make her happy. She had taken a chance by leaving her hiding space and look what had happened. She was busted, all because she was too anxious to snag another sash. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Wait, the game didn't have to be over for her. Janelle was prepared to hand over her sash, but how could she when the person who exposed her was still invisible? She removed the sash and held it out in front of her. "Alright, you won my sash fair and square. You have to tell me who you are before you can have it though." That was only fair. She should at least get to know who had blown her cover.

So she WAS hidden. Paulina gave a relieved sigh before laughing at his joke. Okay, so THIS was why someone noticed her; she needed to learn how to be more quiet. She supposed that Hufflepuffs were great finders, but the same couldn't be said about their hiding ability.
"Having a nap sounds like a great idea. I wish there was some food here as well." It had been a little while since she had last ate, and Paulina was wanting a snack. "I have to admit I'm not sure I fully understand this game." And a lot of people were hiding, so she was sure that there was a chance that they would bump into someone else.
"I'm Paulina, yes. And you're Henric?" She had seen him with Adi, but wasn't sure if he was also Benny's friend. In a moment he was hidden as well, and they were ready to go!
His stomach grumbled at the mention of food."Oh man...yes, me either. I was hoping you know the game well. It's alright, let's just hope the game plays outs smoothly by itself. We still have our sashes on, that counts for something." Wishing he had packets of cookies right now too.
"Yup. The one and only. How you know?" *Cue charming grin.* He saw her at the Hufflepuff table and in their commonroom often, most likely a new transfer.Had he seen her before in school? Nope...he wasn't sure. Would it be rude to ask?
Now that they were both invisible. Henric made sure his steps were light enough so as not to alert others with their presence. He took a moment to scan around the area to make sure nobody else had taken up refuge behind this old dilapidated wall. "We have to stay quiet..." he whispered.
Well, it seemed that everyone was getting a good hang of the disillusionment spell. The revealing, and methods of revealing....not so much?
From his little perch he did try and keep an eye on who was doing what. Which included Bellaire and Prince once again remaining fully visible, though it hardly impeded their process in the game. There were a few interesting choices, including the disillusionment, hiding or abandoning of one's sash. Those got grins from him. Unique and quite the way of protecting one's assets. Good.
He also couldn't help but noticed the commotion behind his wall, namely with one Andrews and Guidry. An interesting choice, and one for which he sat a bit straighter, and perhaps leaned a bit forward. One could never be too careful when it came to students and their aim.
All in all, the playing field was quite quiet. A few students seemed to opt for environmental cues, which worked well in their favor. The undoing of one Adair was such an instance, though the series of events which followed had Sabel's mood darkening quite a bit. He wasn't close enough to hear the exchange between the two boys, or what might have caused Prince to exhibit such hostility, but he wasn't about to let it slide.
Perhaps his students were simply going mad? Maybe it was the dust from the broom closet or the misty air out here? Nicolei was given to talking to the air and there was very little movement anywhere. Perhaps the early morning class had simply caught up. Or perhaps, they were proving a very good point, that the best way to protect one's assets, was to keep what they had and not search out others. It was infallible logic, and of a rather ungreedy nature. Always nice to see.
Pushing himself to his feet after a few moments, Sabel scanned the forest and then glanced back towards the castle. The day was getting on, and so they had to as well.
Drawing out his wand, Sabel turned back. "Finite incantatum." For the whole forest, for the whole group. Which meant that everyone disillusioned, and everything disillusioned was now visible once again. All hiding spots were revealed, and some of them were interesting and others were quite close to fellow classmates.
"Alright everyone, that's a wrap." He took a quick stock of the sashes about, his brow twitching with the count. "Seems that you all understand self-preservation and protection very well. Sometimes the best way to ensure that you don't loose what you have, is to avoid advertising it."
That being said. "For this activity, there is no winner. Slytherin and Ravenclaw are tied, at six sashes each. Hufflepuff and Gyffindor are tied, at five sashes each." The numbers, were surprisingly close.
Hopping off the wall, Sabel scooped up the bag. "Well done everyone. Please return your sashes and then head out to your next class. Prince, Adair. Stick around." The two boys got a fixed look before his gaze turned back to the rest of the gathered. "The rest of you, enjoy your day."

Daxton gave the Head Boy no answer, simply stared down at him from his place up on the wall for a moment, before surveying the rest of his kingdom the area. Not for very long though, because not minutes later, Dakest cast a spell to reveal everyone in the vicinity and called an end to the activity. Daxton looked his way, but stayed atop the wall until the class was dismissed.
Or... most of the class were dismissed. At first, Daxton was not entirely sure by what was meant by 'stick around', and ran through the possible meanings in his head. Stick? They had to stick things... somewhere? He watched the others for another moment, glanced at the Head Boy (who he knew to be Adair), then jumped nimbly down from the wall, his landing cushioned slightly by the moss underfoot.
Both sashes were still balled up in his fist, but rather than drop them in the bag, Daxton discreetly shoved pushed them into his pocket. He stopped by Dakest and hesitated, lingering uncertainly and still not entirely sure what the instruction to 'stick around' had meant. He could have simply left, but instead opted to stay... being mindful to keep his distance from the Head Boy, eyeing him suspiciously in the brief second that he looked at him at all.
