Default Charms 1

Before entering the classroom you'll see a sign next to the door in noticeable letters that reads:

Rules Before Entering Charms Classroom:

- Located inside next to the door is a yellow wall. Write something you appreciate about the school, your day, someone, ect. No names or inappropriateness, please. After posting on the Positive Wall take a sticker located at the heart of the wall, and wear it on your forehead for the duration of the class.

- Trade your house tie with someone else of a different house.

After that is done, the first thing you'll notice once fully walking inside is the cool and fresh breeze. The windows are open, letting in the cooling summer air and the soft morning glow. With a gleam in her hazel eyes, Professor Astrid Baxter stands at the front of the room leaning against her desk waiting for students to arrive.

Behind her there's yet another message, this one written on the blackboard:

Welcome, students! Take a seat next to a person you have not met and please properly fill out a nametag.

The first Charms lesson of the term had put Milo in an even better mood than he had expected. Charms was the subject he had been looking forward to the most at Hogwarts. He hadn't had a chance to find the Professor apart from seeing them at the staff table in the Great Hall.

Walking in the classroom he noticed the breeze and sunshine but also the yellow wall and sign asking him to write something nice on it. Oh that was neat.

I can't wait for the Charms lesson! I want to learn how to levitate things!
He did though, or to summon them. He could reach stuff off high shelves and get his drink off the table without having to get up. The important stuff. Next he had to pick a sticker...and wear in on his forehead. Oh well, that wasn't too bad. Besides his bangs were long, it would be hard to see but he could push them back if asked about it.

One more stipulation. He had to trade ties with someone from another house....he didn't know hardly anyone that wasn't a Ravenclaw. He's chatted some in class but that wasn't really something he did. Walking into class he found a taller, older girl (Brooklyn) from Slytherin standing nearby looking like she was trying to find someone to trade ties will also.

"Hi, um, I'm Milo, Ravenclaw," he pointed at his tie. "Want to trade ties?" He'd already began untying his own and pulling it from his neck. As he did so he took a seat at the desk nearby hoping the girl would follow him.

As Cullen was settling in his chair he looked around. Surely he doesn't want to be bothered while he learn things but the Professor wanted for them to trade ties. As he look around the place for a person who has not yet have a tie-swapping partner he saw a boy who just walked in, Ravenclaw.

He approached the kid and as he was about to say, Do you want to swap ties? He heard the kid ask a Slytherin. Such is life he thought. Oh well, he must grab a new person before the class begins.

Kate was almost late to Charms class. She had no idea what had happened, because that sort of thing never happened to her. She skidded to a stop outside the door, realizing only then that people were still filing in, and she wasn't late after all. Okay, good. GOOD. Now she can relax and breathe and all that other important stuff.

Kate stopped at the yellow wall, noticing people were leaving little notes on it about class or the school in general. Okay, cool. She had stuff to say, too. Kate posted a little message that said...

'Colt, you make me smile. '

Just as the note said, she smiled, as if on cue, as she posted her message along with the others. She then peeled off a sticker featuring a pink smiling face wearing a little red and white bow. She fixed it on her forehead then walked into the room, only feeling halfway silly about where the sticker was located.

Once in the room, her blue eyes zoomed in on a new message, one that said she needed to trade her tie for one of a different color. Merlin. Was this part of the lesson, or were they just having random fun? Kate pulled her tie off and looked around the room. "Anyone want to trade ties?" she asked.

She needed to find a seat, too...next to someone she had yet to meet. Mmkay, cool. HIIII, new people! Kate spotted a Slytherin girl she knew was named Brooklyn. "Hey," she said, "want to trade ties with me?" She could sit next to her, too, since they really didn't know each other personally.

In the meantime, she took the time to fill out her name tag, which was hopefully last on the long list of things she had to do to get in the door and get seated. Oh, well. At least the professor was keeping things interesting.

Ilia walked into class and took in the scenery. This....was definitely....nothing like the apple munching cat professor's class........that was immediately and starkly apparent. She had a distinct feeling that she wasn't going to like this the moment she started reading the board. Something positive........

Next task? Finding someone else who looked equally alone , that she didn't immediately recognize, that was also not a fellow snake. Slim pickings it seemed, but her eyes caught what seemed to be an unclaimed lion a little younger than herself. Maybe she'd be successful? Hi I am a random snake you have never met with a stupid sticker on my forehead want to be friends? ......This was going to work splendidly. Still, she took a deep breath and walked up to the boy (Cullen).

"Hello there." She bowed politely. "Would you happen to be looking for someone to swap ties with?" She played with the end of tie, ready to take it off and hand it over if the boy agreed.

She said smiling at him. "You can just tell everyone you're wearing the infamous Noelle Grace Summers' tie and they will understand. Because that's me!"

Hehe. Infamous.

"Nice to meet you Henric! Did you see my sticker?" She asked while standing on her tip toes so he can get a better look since he was sooooo much taller than her.
Henric beamed at the girl's enthusiasm. He chuckled,"Nice to meet you too Infamous Noelle Grace Summers. I'm honoured, truly. Tell me Miss Summers, did you rob a bank or something? Or are you in the news lately?"he teased.

When she asked him if she could see her sticker, he shook his head."Nope....what kinds are they? Any colour in mind? I'll take it for you,"he offered kindly because she seemed to be having a hard time reaching up for it.

There was a boy in the seat next to Olly. One who had stayed quiet since his arrival, and had therefore escaped Olly's notice. He managed a smile smile for the boy. The point of the rules were to make new friends after all. But he was used to him and Ellery making friends together. Grumble. Grumble. He supposed he could give it a try. Fortunately, this boy was a Ravenclaw. Olly slightly extended his hand, which still held his Slytherin tie.

"Hello, want to trade ties?" Olly tried to say it casually, to be sure the boy knew it was alright to say no. If he hadn't traded yet, he might not want to at all.
Lo and behold, someone had indeed come to claim the seat right beside him. Daxton had watched the boy - another first year, he recognised him from the boats and the Sorting - claim a seat seemingly at random, though it was difficult to tell whether it was a true random selection.

A Slytherin tie. Slytherin was the other house the Sorting Hat considered for Daxton, and oh how he remembered the stress of that evening. When he had realised what House it was talking about, Daxton had told it in no uncertain terms that he would not be going into Slytherin, whose Head of House was the doctor or 'Healer' at this school. He still stood by his decision too.

Daxton shook his head, because... well, he did not want to. There was his answer.

There were risks involved in this. And aside from plain not wanting to trade ties with anyone and potentially lose his own, Daxton thought it unwise to partake in this (or any) activity before knowing why it was being put to them.

Great! Its hard to be pretty when nobody notices. Cullen was about to head towards his seat and wait for the course of fate to do his actions. But before he can do that,

He looked at the Slytherin that spoke and turned to her with a bit grin and was taken aback. What's with the sticker? He tried to hide the quizzical and amused look in him and smile back and said Yes, yes I am he said extending him hand to shake hers.

"Hi, my name is Cullen. Everything alright?" he had to ask. Pointing at his forehead while looking at the older student's one. Curiosity will always kill the cat. "If I don't put this on, do you reckon I will get into trouble?" he asked again and before the Slytherin could answer stuck the sticker in his forehead.

Just loads of theory from Wizarding Prep so the boy excitedly skipped toward the classroom boys did that too, okay?

The sign and the interesting looking wall gave him reason to pause though cause this looked like MOAR rules and everyone lost points last time they didn't follow 'em.

Something he appreciated about someone?

Huh. Alright then. Blaise nodded his quick quotes quill toward the wall then cleared his throat, ready to give his dictation. "I really appreciate my cousin Bentley. We made Gryffindor plans and he didn't back out on me."

Of course the quill got something more along the lines of:

Had the boy taken a second to LOOK, he may have realized but he'd already grabbed the BIG yellow smiley with the polka dot red tie and ran inside all excited like.

The boy took a seat riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight up at the front of the room and sank into it, beaming brightly at the woman who was standing there. "Morning Professor!" Oh and name tags. Name tags were safe. His quill hardly messed those up. The boy watched it float on over to the tag and again began giving instructions on what he expected written down.

O_O

The boy STARED at his name tag, refusing to believe that of all things the quill decided to distort it would be THIS. Oh man, oh man oh man oh man. Ensign wasn't EVEN a year--unless they were in Astro but they weren't anymore, gosh quill! The boy stuck his hand up, wiggling his little fingers to get the Professor's attention despite sitting riiiiiiiiiiiiight up there with her. "Can I...can I have another one of these....and...and I don't think mum will want me switching ties with anyone AND I worked really hard to be a Gryffindor so can I keep mine that way?" He didn't know about anyone ELSE'S struggle with the hat but his was REALLY made up and all in his head.

Tsk, tsk, tsk.

She had asked for no names and just as this young one came in a name was said. Astrid wouldn't take points. Not this time, anyway. Once they got used to routine, which she fully expected them too, she would.

Look at that smile, though! Astrid smiled back, eyeing his name tag. "Good morning to you, Mister Bellaire--" Oh. Mistakes. Several of them. "Of course. Do write things on your own, please." If she let on student write with a special quill then more would follow and she wouldn't be able to say no without sounding unfair.

As for the tie situation. "Tie-switching is only for the duration of the class, Mister Bellaire. You can switch back afterwards." So no. She was the queen of fairness here!

Entering the classroom, she looked around and.... She was early. "Good day, Professor." She smiled at the Charms Professor who-she-didn't-know-her-name yet and she didn't want to blurt out like she called the Transfiguration Professor as white-haired lady.

Like the sign had said, she grabbed a quill and wrote something.

Done? Done. Then she took a smiley sticker and put it on her head. Hehehehe... it's funny. And then she took a seat beside an empty one and put the nametag on her.

Moving on to the next student who arrived, Astrid grinned at her. A little Gryffindor! "Morning, Miss Burton." Don't forget the tie-switching.

Putting on his brakes, Yoongi read the sign because the Professors were already changing their classroom rules.

Eh? ok...so he needed to write something positive? And it was supposed to be anonymous. Ok. He took out his bright pink flamingo quill and scribbled a message on the board. he doodled some stars around it and then went to grab a sticker. He took the dark pink one which was on the top right corner and ...he read the sign again. Put it on their forehead for the duration of the class?

ehm.... maybe the Professor hadn't written that right or? He would put the sticker on his face when everyone else would do the same... For now, he entered the classroom and waved at the Professor. "Goooood day Professor Baxter!" he said cheerfully and walked to an empty desk. Using the pink flamingo quill again, he wrote his nametag.

"Anyone wanna trade my Gryffindor tie?" cause he had forgotten that....

There was Yoongi Hyland, and she couldn't help smile at his positive post on the wall. Confidence! He was owning it. "Good day to you, Mister Hyland. Sticker on your forehead." Just like the two young ones had done.

He quickly scribbled:

Awesomeeee! Now whenever anyone looked back at this, they would know that Adi Rehman had been there. Grinning at Benny, he added, ''Let's trade ties!'' Already he was pulling off his black and yellow one. "An honourary Hufflepuff and an honourary Gryffindor.'' When Benny handed over his tie, the Badger knotted it around his neck. Wheee! He was part lion! Wasn't he forgetting something? Oh yeah! The sticker! He LOVED stickers. They reminded him of Apollo and the seminar. He grabbed one to stick on his forehead, albeit a bit crookedly but who cared?

Now really in the class room, the GryffinPuff instantly noticed the summer air and Professor Baxter. "Hello, Professor!'' She got one of his happy signature grins and so did Ava, Yoongi and the other Lion (Blaise)whom he sat next to. Flopping down, he read the board. Okay, easy enough instructions.

Adi showed off the name tag to Benny. The Cheering Charm. Yep, gotta keep the world HAAAAPPPY!

Darn. The prefect did the same the as the first student. No names, but as she did the first time, she was going to let it pass just for today.

"Nice morning, Prefect Rehman."

What to write?

In the end he settled for something casual.

Yeah.... that'd do. And the sticker? What sticker? He wasn't wearing a sticker. Nope.

Now though.... he needed to swap ties with someone? Could he get away with just changing the colour of his own? He stood idly for a moment before deciding to take his off. If nobody wanted to swap with him, he'd be cool with ditching it.

But now, while people were still arriving... a desk.

Zeke picked one close to the back, giving the Professor a small wave to say 'hello'. Words weren't working for him today. Here he filled out the name card.

Hogwarts rocks his socks, but stickers apparently don't. "Morning, Mister Browne. Did you not like my stickers?" Were they not 'cool' enough? She had more.

Hmm. Depends if the Professor was approachable enough.

The young badger had now reached the outside of the Charms classroom. He went through the instructions and beamed. Cool. They had a Positive Wall, they could even get stickers! He immediately pulled out a quill from inside his bag and wrote on the wall:

Mooooore beaming because this Positive Wall was making him very optimistic. Yay, he gets to pick a sticker! Hmmm...which one? ....Oh. That smiley face with the hat. Owen peeled it from the wall and stuck it to his forehead. Now he had to trade his house tie with someone else from another house, yea? Since there was nobody else outside at the moment, Owen stepped inside the classroom in hopes of finding someone to swap ties with. PROFESSOR!ALERT. "Hello, Professor maa'm. Good day!"

...more instructions. Owen took a seat on an empty desk near the door and filled out a nametag.

The Hufflepuff turned to his classmates, "Anyone want to trade house ties?" Beamingggggggg.

There was another happy-looking kid. Astrid was glad majority were coming with an upbeat and hopefully a desire to learn! "Good day to youuu, Mister Montezor."

Uh alright. Something she appreciates. Shouldn't be to hard to come up with. Pulling her quill from her bag she neatly wrote down the first thing that came to mind.

There done. Using 'they' made it easier. No sense in giving names or anything like that. The next part caused her to raise an eyebrow but she collected a green music note sticker and placed it on the back of her hand. Wearing a sticker on her forehead was a bit strange so her hand would be okay, right?

Now she needed to find a seat. Selecting one somewhere in the middle Hady gave a small smile at the Professor in greeting before she sat down. Setting her bag on the floor at her feet she kept a hold of her quill to fill out the nametag thing.

Setting her quill down she glanced around the room for a brief moment. Tie switching. Not something she wanted to do but yeah... sighing quietly she removed her tie and set it on her desk. If anyone wanted to switch with her they could.

Astrid studied the next to student quietly. She appreciated her following the rules and not mentioning any names. The young witch didn't seem as upbeat at the rest. Hmm.

"Good morning, Miss Lynch. I hope you're having a nice day." She really did.

Seeing what he wrote gave him a mixed feeling of self-consciousness and pride. Yep...that was him....Lab Rat. Benny tried to think of his own to write, potentially mentioning Adi in return but finally opted for:

Now for the switching of ties, one of the new rules being added to the mix. at least this one wasn't bad, he'd almost had a Hufflepuff tie at the start-of-term-feast to fit in better. Loosening his red and gold tie, he swapped it for Adi's yellow and black one before retightening to still look properly dressed. "Yep, it's official." The sticker was added next, albeit somewhat reluctantly. It felt a little itchy to have something random on his forehead but...meh.

"Hello Professor," he greeted the woman with a polite smile as he moved to follow Adi and take a seat next to him. However the instructions on the board stopped him as he nearly sat down. Next to someone you haven't met. Oops. "Guess I can't sit here..." he mused with an inward sigh to his best friend before scanning the room. Zeke was also out of the mix and two others had already paired off. So Benny moved towards a first year Gryffindor he'd seen in passing but hadn't officially met. "Hey," he greeted, sitting down beside him hoping he didn't mind and filled out his nametag.

He had learned that one over the summer interning.

When she meant no names, she really meant no names on the wall. Seeing as these were her fun rules, she wasn't going to deduct points. It was for fun, after all. She liked the way he moved himself next to a new person. Good kid.

"Hello, Mister Atreyu."

Good vibes, thingamajig? Not that he’s against it, but isn’t he too old for that sort of thing? And they’d need to put a sticker on their forehead?

And hell no, they’d have to trade ties with other houses?!? Ethan gave the wall a sceptical look and considered skipping this class. Maybe he’s over reacting...but he didn’t expect those rules too. The seventh year took a peek inside the classroom and saw that a couple of Gryffindors are already inside. And of course they did follow her instructions without questions. Rolling his eyes, he proceeded with the first instruction and wrote something on the wall. Truth. Tossing the quill aside, he went on to pick a nice, green, star-shaped sticker.

Ethan opened the door, and immediately gave the woman a courteous nod and greeting. “Good morning, Professor.” He said, as he eyed the message on the board behind the woman. “And Welcome to Hogwarts too.” A small grin was given, and then turned on his heel to get a seat at the back. Away from everyone else. Somebody WILL take a seat beside him whom he hasn’t met eventually, right? Right. For now, he just wants to be alone. Picking up the blank nametag, he too got his self-inking quill and filled it out:

He was going to trade his tie, yeah? It was for fun and an opportunity to mingle with other houses.

Disillusionment Charm, eh? That was the first charm that came to mind actually. Why? Well, he felt like hiding himself from everyone else right now as he picked up his green star sticker, and smacked it on his forehead. Didn’t say it had to be in the middle, yeah?

Oh and ties? He’s going to keep his green tie for now. He won’t be caught OFFERING to trade his OWN tie because it felt like betraying his own house, even if it were for funsies.

Another student who didn't read the rules properly. He got a smile nonetheless and a nod. "Good morning to you and thank you." That was the first welcome, how sweet of him.

There. Take THAT, mood, there were entire stickers and walls fighting against you. It was true, everybody DID feel bad sometimes, even Prefects, apparently. She started on her way to the desks again, now looking around for somebody to switch ties with. She passed by the professor and said, "Hi Professor Baxter," then took a seat near Zeke. Yeah, okay, she did know him already but she'd met everybody else too, and they'd never talked much before so it totally counted. "Hey. Zeke. Want to switch ties?" She didn't really get that part of the rules but Professor Baxter PROBABLY knew what she was doing, being a Professor 'n all that.

What a sweetie. Astrid smiled brightly at the Hufflepuff. She hoped her mood improved. "Good morning, Prefect Kittredge."

I really like this 'yellow' wall. It certainly adds colour to the dreary wall we had before. Brilliant...absolutely brilliant,Professor! - Henric Nicolei, Hufflepuff

Ohhh...stickers?! Wicked! This reminded him of the seminar they had once before in Hogwarts. He quickly picked his favourite colour out of all the stickers available and pasted it right in the middle of his forehead.Brilliant...a plain blue one would suit nicely.

What was next? They had to exchange ties now?!! But he didn't want to exchange ties... Henric loved his tie. He ironed it last night too! Well..the houseelves did...

Anyway, where could he find someone to exchange it with? He looked around the class, everyone seemed taken."Hi, good morning...anyone would like a Huff tie?" Henric flashed a friendly smile.

This was one happy Hufflepuff. Returning a brilliant smile, Astrid returned his greeting. "Good day, Mister Nicolei!"

Sappy, yes. But today, Austin didn't care, and he hoped he didn't have to elaborate on it later. Since he wasn't in a good mood, he took one of the orange frowny faces, and stuck it on his forehead. Wasn't this a little childish? This wasn't going to be permanently stuck to his head? Right?

He looked around for someone to trade ties with, and saw an older Slytherin (Stefan). Because of his sour mood, he forgot all about being shy, and walked straight up to him. "Here." He said taking off his tie. It wasn't exactly polite, but then again, Austin didn't care today.

This one didn't seem to be in nice mood and might have forgotten his manners. Astrid was going to keep a close eye on him. "Good morning, Mister Moore."

First he had to bring food for Culloden, say a bunch of volcano language for Flamsteed, and NOW he had to switch his tie with someone???

But what if he didn’t want to switch his tie? No offense but green wasn’t really his color. No one would believe he was in Ravenclaw. AND he had gone through years of being called a Hufflepuff so there’s no way he’d go back to that thank you very much. Gryffindor was clearly the only tie for him. And also what if someone stole it and didn’t want to give it back? LOOKING AT YOU MAGGIE. The wall thing wasn’t that bad though, so he went and wrote something down really quickly before grabbing one of them tongue-out smilies and sticking it on his forehead. Man. He looked absolutely ridiculous. Good thing everyone else did too.

”Hi Professor,” he smiled, walking towards her desk and finding a seat near the front of the classroom but only because he didn’t feel like finding a seat so he took the first one he saw. ”Is switching our ties super necessary?” He wasn't protesting... Just asking. He needed to know the motives, y'know?

"Good morning, Head Boy Adair." Oh. Did he not like her rules? She thought they were fun. Majority did too. Look at them interacting with each other! "Not super, but it would be great if you encouraged following the rules," she smiled. What was wrong with her rules?

Step 1 done. Next, switch ties with somebody? Olly quickly removed his own tie. Well, as quickly as he could even though he was not all that good at it. When he got it off, a thought occurred to him. "ELLERY WE CAN BE IN THE SAME HOUSE FOR THIS LESSON!" The only flaws in his statement were that he wasn't sure if Ellery was even in the room yet, and that switching ties didn't technically mean switching houses. Still, the thought was very exciting. So Olly kept an eye out for a Ravenclaw or a Hufflepuff. Two Ravenclaws or Hufflepuffs, actually. Next step, nametag.

Excited fellow at twelve o'clock. "Good morning. Inside voices, please." When she stated she had sensitive hearing, Astrid had been honest.

"Positive Wall" concept was actually kind of nice, and Sophie actually smiled. This was a SUPER easy thing to do, so Soph marched right up to the wall and added HER appreciation.

I appreciate my best friend for being smart, kind, funny, loving, sweet, and charming.

Whether it was about Zander or Tobes, no one would ever know since names weren't allowed, and Soph promptly selected the blue sticker with the little bowtie and stuck it right in the center of her forehead. Boom. WORKIN' IT.

The house tie thing, though? She wanted to be GRYFFINDOR. She would've made a good Gryffindor, she knew, and she knew JUST the Gryffindor to trade with, as long as his wasn't taken yet... AH-HA! ...Except JUST as she went to trade with Zander and claim him, two OTHERS stole him. Ruuuuuuuuuude. At least it looked like he was going to be a Ravenclaw today. He was more Ravenclaw than he thought, because he was very creative and smart in ways outside of typical means of intelligence, and he was unique, too. No one she had ever met was anything like Zander Adair.

But even more than just not getting to wear his tie, she wasn't allowed... to sit with him EITHER? Mega lame. But she didn't know WHO to sit with because she already KNEW so many people. That was the problem with being Head Girl. It was her job to know everyone and to talk to everyone, so like... WHAT TO DO.

Sophie was just going to... sit over here. On her own, with her tie already in her hand and READY TO SWITCH WITH SOMEONE WHO WANTED HER. In the meantime, she filled out her name tag.

Name: Sophie Brown
House: Ravenclaw
Year: Seventh
Favorite Charm: Any charms that help make people feel good.

One in particular came to mind, of course, but if they were going to be read out LOUD or something, she didn't want Zander snickering at her. So she was just going to mind her own business and keep things subtle while trying to catch the eye of a newbie she didn't know--

Oh. And. "Hi, professor. M'Sophie Brown." Head Girl, she probably knew. "If y'need assistance with anything, m'game." In case she needed a helper at some point. Just WANTED HER TO KNOW.

Head Girl was spot on following the rules and with a pleasant attitude at that! This made Astrid a happy professor. She was even being helpful. Head Boy, take notes, yes. In return the young witch received a bright smiled. "It is very nice to meet you, Sophie Brown." Very nice, yes yes. "Thank you, I will keep that in mind."

Except, when he arrived at the classroom and read the sign outside, his mood immediately fell flat. A Positive Wall? What on Earth? Stickers on foreheads? Trading ties?

Why?

Staring at the rules, and then at the wall, Daxton tried to make his mind up as to whether he even wanted to go inside. He did not want to, but... he was curious. Curious about learning magic, and seeing more in action, and watching the various ways everyone else failed. He wanted to learn about spells, to gain knowledge. But those rules... those rules were ridiculous.

So Daxton simply ignored them. Bypassing the 'Positive Wall' and the eyesore stickers, he made his way into the room and claimed a seat as close to the door as he could get. He did not doubt that someone would take it upon themselves to force their company on him soon enough, but he would not seek anyone out. And he did not want to trade ties, because his tie belonged to him. In any case, it all seemed like a ploy to get them to interact with one another, and Daxton was perfectly fine keeping to himself.

He did, at least, fill out a nametag.

With that done, Daxton simply sat there, closely watching others in the class, idly flipping the edges of the pages of his notebook with his thumb.

Daxton Prince was giving her fun rules a big NO. Well. It wasn't a classroom rule for now. "Good day, Mister Prince." She smiled at him even if she had a feeling that smile wouldn't be returned.

She figuring that she would bring the new professor some to this lesson. Since she had been up all night baking she maybe as well bring them with her.

Making her way to the classroom, she stopped by the door to read the signs. Okay write on positive wall, sticker from heart wall and trade ties. Got it. She walked on into the classroom and headed toward the professor with the cinnamon rolls. "Hi, these are for you." She smiled and handed her the pan.

Moving on to the positive wall, honestly she couldn't think of anything positive today. Nothing at all. So she quickly read over the wall at what the others wrote to get an idea of course. Hmmm.

There that took care of that. No one else has said that, right? Oh well opps then she made her way to the heart wall and picked a sticker and stuck it to her forehead. What a lovely fashion statement, professor.

Also she filled out the nametag. Now to trade a tie! "Who wants to be a Gryffindor for a day?" Who wouldn't? She took by her desk and looked around.

Did she smell...cinnamon rolls?

She did. She most definitely did! And she was being presented with actual cinnamon rolls. The Charms Professor almost went starry-eyed. This was her weakness. Oh Merlin!

"Thank you so much! Take two house points for your generosity." Well deserved too. Bringing a professor food was much appreciated. Especially since Astrid didn't have a specific time to eat. These would keep her going for most of the day.

Another happy soul. Astrid smiled at the girl, tilting her head slightly as she wrote her name. The surname Landvik stood out. Which was odd because she doesn't remember meeting anyone with that name. The Gryffindor, as well as other students, didn't quite follow instructions.

He missed that treehouse already. Treehouses were INTERESTING and DIFFERENT, unlike these classes over here.

But what was different about THIS class was that there was a bright yellow wall. Yep. One where they had to write something they appreciate? Uh. Phillip wrinkled his nose at the notice and then over at the wall. He had nothing against positivity but the word rules was making him feel WEIRD. RULES. New and WEIRD rules. He was sure he didn't have to walk around with a sticker on his forehead and a different colour tie around his neck in his other classes.

As for his appreciation...

There. When that was done and he slapped a bright sticker on his forehead, Phillip turned his attention towards the Professor herself. "HelloooOOOOO, Professor," Morning and all that jazz. Smiling at her, the first year started loosening his tie as he made his way towards an empty seat. Plonking himself down and taking off his tie completely, the Slytherin started looking around for a partner to work with. Someone from a different house AND someone who was likely to fall for the innocent, sad first year look. Phillip was a pro at that.

Merlin, these happy young ones got her upbeat and excited for her own lesson. They almost reminded her of her students back in Alicante. "Hellooo to you, Mister..." Oh. "You're name tag." She tapped the desk lightly. "Let's not forget that." Or his name might end up being Frabizio Rizzoli.

Glancing up at the clock above the entryway, Astrid clapped her hands twice to get the attention of the class. The door closed, hushing the sound from students out in the corridor. "Let's settle down, please." Her voice was clear and loud enough for the students to hear. It made her heart all warm seeing them interact (most of them), but it was time to go to business.

Walking back to the front of the classroom and leaning against her desk, she tugged at the tip of blue and bronze tie that was around her neck. As a former Gryffindor she had clearly switched ties with someone. The students wouldn't know that. "First, I want to welcome new and returning students to Charms Class. I, myself, am new to teaching at Hogwarts, but not the castle itself." Flicking her wand at the blackboard her name was written in neat writing. "I am Professor Baxter and as you may have all guessed, I will be teaching you Charms." How exciting was that! "I would like to thank all of the students who followed directions and participated in the activity. It was nothing to be alarmed about." She smiled reassuringly and kindly at those she noticed flip about the rules and at those who did great and followed through. "A brief advice, if you'd like to earn full credit in my class read the rules and follow them appropriately." They were simple enough, yeah? They were early childhood level. She thought so, and she wanted them to all earn full credit. And now they couldn't say, 'but you didn't tell us thaaat!' because she just did.

With another smile, Astrid pushed off her desk and wandered toward the front desks, pausing. "To get this lesson started, I would like you to pull out a piece of parchment and write a paragraph on what you know about charms and what charms you would like to learn about. It's a way for me to get to know you." Because Merlin knew just how much office time she had (she would make as time as she could) but she was sure they had other lesson things that needed their attention as well. This was the best way to get to know them and to warm up their brains and get working. "You have ten minutes." And go!

Whoops?

Did he not like her stickers? Well, no, no he didn't. "Sorry Professor, I'm not really a stickers kinda guy." Did she understand? He just didn't see why he should have a sticker on his forehead. It was weird. Even in muggle school, stickers had gone on their work, or their shirts, but never their foreheads... not that he ever got one in muggle school anyway. "I'm happy to forego one so that other people may have it." Yeah. Because he was SO generous like that.

But then, the lesson was starting, and so he started pulling out his parchment and textbook.

...

That was, quite a task. A whole paragraph? About what they knew? He knew a fair bit, and certainly more than a paragraphs worth. The second part of their task was interesting enough though. Did they really have a choice in what they learned?

Inking his quill, Zeke got started, jotting down his thoughts as he went. Granted, his response wasn't very structured, but he answered the question at least.

SPOILER!!: parchment, notes

There are lots of things I know about Charms, and I would like to think that after three full years of studying it, that you can appreciate that I can't explain all that I know in just one paragraph. The main thing to understand about Charms - and I learnt this in first year - is that Charms doesn't change an object, because changing the nature of the object would be straight up transfiguration, but instead you just alter the object in ways. For example, giving objects the ability to float or fly, changing their colour, or the way they might behave - like making something move or act in a way that it usually might not. And this is where some people get confused. Because in some cases it can seem like you're conjuring (which is not charms) but really it's charming your wand to behave differently -a wand is still a wand, even when it's behaving like a hose (Auguamenti) or as a torch (Lumos). As for Charms I would like to learn, I don't know. This is one of my favourite subjects, and I've done really well in the past, so perhaps learning something more advanced than what you might normally teach me? That being said, we started to learn how to cast a Patronus last year, and I haven't been able to cast a corporeal one yet, perhaps we could work on that?

There. Zeke set his quill down.

Alastair sat quietly while the lesson started. He listened patiently to the professor's instructions and pulled out a piece of parchment and a quill. He stared into space for a time before he started writing.

Quote:
Charms are their own kind of magic. They can change properties of items, such as growing wings on objects. They can be used for simple things, and very complex problems. There are multiple kinds of charms, including dark charms. Some common charms are "Lumos" to create something like a flashlight and "Alohomora" the unlocking charm. Charms require precise pronunciation and wand movements.
Alastiar was sure he was missing some information, but he thought what he wrote was more than adequate.

Super focused.

And not just because the professor was pretty either but because Charms. But the Professor being pretty really didn't hurt. Not at all.

Huuh. One paragraph?

Taking out a piece of fresh parchment, Kyroh thought for a few seconds. This was sort of difficult? He felt like he already knew a lot about charms, and nothing that wasn't obvious. As for learning new ones? He was certain his mum had taught him a lot already. Grabbing his quill though, he began to write.

SPOILER!!: Notes/Answer

A charm is a spell that alters what an object does. That's the most basic way i'd put it at least. Actually changing what an object is would be Transfiguration. People tend to think that charms are easier because of this, however I don't really think they are easier, they just have different levels of difficulty. For example The Wand Lighting Charm is something that even inexperience's witches or wizards could do (like first years) a memory charm. Or at least not a well performed memory charm. The effectiveness of charms is pretty much based on your ability to practice and grow. I don't really know what charm I'd want to learn. But I think that something really difficult and different would be amazing to know.

Scribbling hastily on the parchment in front of him, he half listened to what the professor was saying, though paused at the mention of... more writing. Well gosh dangit, why couldn't he have sat closer to Marsha? The thought made him look around wildly for her. All. The. Way. Over. There.

...

No problem. Nooooope. He got this. Just... write it slowly.

Question
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

"HI!'' Adi said happily to the firstie (Blaise) he was sitting next to. "I'm Adi! Seventh year Puffer. Looks like I'm getting to know you today.'' Hehe. Oh looky! Benny was sitting next to the kid too! Great minds think alike! Though he did think his bestie had the greater mind. But then Baxter was telling the class to settle down. Woot! Time for class to get started!

She wanted them to write something? Okaaay, Adi could do that. So out came his parchment, quill and ink. He began to scribble almost immediately, pausing at times to think of his answer and to put words in proper sentences:

SPOILER!!: Parchment!
I know that Charms adds properties to something. After many years of Hogwarts and a mom who was always throwing random magical facts at me, I think that's one of the things that stuck with me. Charms are important to helping persons out with things in everyday life but what's my favourite is that they can be used for pranks. For example, the Levitation Charm can be used to levitate an unsuspecting friend up to the Treehouse. Charms that I would want to learn include the Homonculous Charm and Scarpin's Revelaspell.

There! Short and to the point!

Some of his classmates didn't want to swap ties. Only a few of them wanted stickers too. Toblerones, what an anti-fun bunch.

Anywaaaay. Class was starting.

What he knew about Charms? Hmm...that was pretty limited considering he was muggle-born and a first year. Picking up a quill, Owen straightened a parchment on his desk and began to write.

SPOILER!!: parchment
I know that charms add or change properties to an object or creature. I have read about most charms from books but I can't perform most of them. For now I only know simple charms that don't require very complex wand movements or incantations. But I have been practicing. Yesterday, I got to perfect the Incendio charm, which is also a form of conjuration. It's so cool. This subject is so cool. I'd like to learn so much more.

Done!

Henric noticed llia talking to a Gryffindor boy over at the side and he couldn't help but feel self-aware that the mate was standing a little too close with his bestfriend. She was going to swap ties and seat next to that third year too? Alright, he wasn't eyeing them at all...nope...he wasn't. Atleast llia was making the effort to get to know somebody new today. That was what the instructions said...yeah...so Henric took a seat beside the first year Gryffindor named Noelle.

He took out his parchment, laid it on the desk before picking up his quill again. He wrote:

SPOILER!!: Henric's Note
Charms spell is a way to add or change the properties of the object. I suppose the spell controls what the object does. They are many types of charms spells including the Impervius spell, levitation charms, a wand-lighting charm and more. My personal favourite charm spell is definitely the Scouring Charm. Its so easy to have this spell around because it no fun to clean manually by yourself. It's also incredibly useful for me if I want to clean my pet owl's bird-cage or something. Charms that I would like to learn is the Verdillious charm and the SpeRevelio charm.

He sighed and tried to think up what he was appreciative of this term, or in general and only one thing really came to mind, taking up the quill, he wrote;

Okay, and... Now the name tag.

There, that was done. He put back the quill, grabbed the heart eyed smiley sticker, and stuck it smack dab in the middle of his forehead. There, one rule down, now to the tie swapping. Damien looked around, not sure who or what he was looking for, just sort of glancing around the room until his eyes landed on the Head Girl standing nearby.

He walked right over, Red and Gold tie in hand and offered it up to her. "Trade me?" He said with a little grin. Maybe the ravenclaw would rub off on him and he'd be able to pay attention today.

Oh. Oh. Evie's friend. Was he coming over to--? Oh. He... wanted to trade with her? AND he was SMILING at her. Was this a trick? Did Evie send him to make her feel worse about her Head Girl status? Was that what this was? Was he going to be nice, then CRUSH HER LIKE A BUG and THROW SHADE?

She wasn't really sure, but she tried to just think that Damien was just a PERSON and not a good friend of Evie's with the potential to belittle her, and thus put on a smile in return. "Sure thing. Thanks, Damien." Trading out her own Ravenclaw tie for his Gryffindor one, Soph was happy to put it on. She'd wanted to wear a Gryffindor tie today ANYWAY.

...But really, was Eves setting her up?

"You have ten minutes." And go![/color]

The professor LOVED her already, which was extra convenient since her other charms professors had adored her. Just made SENSE, and Sophie Brown BEAMED at the woman after she returned the positivity. Hoorayyy for BEING A TEACHER'S PET.

But the first assignment was... a confusing one. She wanted ONE PARAGRAPH on what she KNEW about charms? But she knew a whole LOT about charms, how was she supposed to narrow it down enough for just one paragraph? That was a tall order and tested her abilities. But Sophie Brown never backed down from a challenge.

Text Cut: Parchment!
This assignment is really difficult for me, professor, because I love charms and know a whole lot about them, and it's hard to narrow all my charms knowledge down into one paragraph. I just want to say that I got an Outstanding on my charms OWL and I fully intend to get an Outstanding on my charms NEWT, too, so you can expect me to be at the top of the class with a few others. Your predecessors, Professor Fuller and Professor Quigley, were two of my favorites, and I was theirs, too, so that's probably a testament to how much I can bring to the table to be a good leader in your class. You can pick on me whenever you want someone to demonstrate something or set an example or answer a question really well. That being said, I like learning about all charms. I want to learn as many charms as I can and soak up as much knowledge from you as possible, professor. With anything you want to teach, you've got a willing learner. You can count on me.

Not the kind of paragraph the professor wanted, certainly, but Sophie Brown wanted to show what she knew in OTHER ways. So she would. Juuuust biding her time.

Norah grinned at Zeke and undid her tie as well, handing it to him with a small shrug. Who knew what this was all about, but at least she'd get to pretend to be a brave Gryffindor for a whole entire class. Imagine that. Norah Kittredge, being BRAVE. It'd be one for the history books for sure, and even better for being a Prefect. She did up the red and gold tie. Aw yeah. Lookin' FABULOUS.

...

Prefect Norah. She could get used to that. The new professor seemed extra sweet so she got some big smiles for sure, just as big as the smiley face sticker that was still stuck to her forehead. Maybe she should ask to learn a permanent sticking charm because that sticker wasn't allowed to go anywhere. EVER. Why hadn't she thought of wearing happiness on her head before? It was a genius idea. GENIUS. Professor Baxter obviously knew a lot of stuff. Plus Astrid was a super cool name, so she got extra coolness points for that too.

At her instruction, the fifth year pulled writing materials from her bag and smoothed the parchment down on the table. Charms stuff. Cool beans.
SPOILER!!: paragraph
Charms are spells that don't really change the object or person you're casting (that's transfiguration which is a whole nother class) but kind of changes what the object does. Or sometimes you don't have to cast it on an object at all, like lumos because that just makes light. So i guess I don't really know how to classify charms except that they're spells and they don't turn things into other things. And they're not jinxes or curses because they don't do bad stuff, I guess. Charms are happy spells. Or at least the ones I like are happy spells. So i guess the kinds of spells I want to learn are the kinds that make people feel good OR the ones that are fun OR the ones that involve colors. I guess the colors part fits in with the fun part and the fun part fits in with the feeling good part, but I'm supposed to be writing a whole paragraph so unnecessary details should be allowed.

First ten minutes and there is already a question posed. It'e just like being at home again - a lawyer and a healer. First thing that happens as I walk in the door for summer is a bombardment of questions. I am not complaining. I love my folks and that's why Hogwarts feels very much like home.

Charms is the act or way of adding an enhancement or reduction to an object but it is still the same as before. It differs from Transfiguration in that if you transfigure something, you lose the object completely.

In terms of what charms I wanted to learn, I want it to be as practical as possible. Helping my folks at home or my dad in his clinic will be very beneficial for me. I do not want them to pamper me too much, I want to make a difference.

And that should suffice, wouldn't it?

Angel listened to the Professor as she started to lesson, so first it was going to be writing something down to do with charms. She had a feeling she could do that. Angel grabbed a parchment and then she grabbed her quill and she started to write down something.

SPOILER!!: Parchment

I think that charms is something that we all need to learn, they are helpful though if you don't use them correctly they can hurt and harm you or worse, but that is why you practice them because as someone one said practice make perfect.

Angel then stopped what she was doing when she thought she had written enough and waited to see what the next instructions were.

SPOILER!!: Owen and Blaise before class
People from Hufflepuff were nice, that's why she chose to sit with Owen and also swap her tie with him. "You're welcome." And now she got the black and yello tie while Owen got hers scarlet and gold one.

"I think it's just for the lesson purpose, Blaise. Don't worry," Ava said to her fellow housemate. If it's not for lesson's purpose, she didn't want to. She's TRULY Gryffindor and not to mention that she's the only Burton that became a Gryffindor.

Not to wait for a long time, the lesson had started. The brunette lioness need to write down the Professor's name so she wouldn't just refer her as 'Charms lady' or worse, 'Professor with pretty hazel-eyes.' And... did she just ask them to write something about charms? OH NO! This was a test, wasn't it? AND SHE HADN'T STUDY BEFORE SO IT'S A DISASTER! "Professor! Why don't you notify us before that you're gonna throw a test before class? I haven't studied yet." What if she got a bad grades and then the Professor would gonna send the result to their parents? Ava Burton would gonna be in a serious trouble with her Russian mother.

But well... Let's try first.

Quote:
Charms is... a subject that where we learn how to use spell and practice them in real life. Like.... if you're too lazy to grab something that is very far to be reached, just cast the summoning charm.
Done, just that

They had to write a paragraph about charms?

Alright. Paulina could do that.

Taking out a piece of parchment and a quill she tried to work out how exactly she wanted to put things. Sometimes wording wasn't the easiest thing for her, and she was not yet familiar with this Professor. What if she was super strict and docked points for improper spelling/punctuation?

After a moment she got started and hoped that she was doing okay:

SPOILER!!: Paulina's Parchment
Charms deal with adding or changing the properties of an object. As with most forms of magic, some charms are easier than others. The Patronus Charm for instance is really hard because it requires intense concentration and a really powerful memory. The amazing thing about charms is that they really come in handy through day to day life; I've already used quite a few today and by tonight I will have used many more. I can't say that I have a favourite charm as I don't think it's right to choose favourites. I can't even choose one charm to want to learn, because I'd rather be educated in as many of them as possible so long as they aren't harmful to others. I think this subject is really interesting and like increasing my magical knowledge.

Short and to the point.

Merlin, only ten minutes to write a pop paragraph. Now that was something else. Though Dante usually sat next to strangers anyway. Since he just sat where he wanted most of the time.

Write a paragraph on what you know about charms and what charms you would like to learn about. Dante could do that. It is just he did not really want to. Sigh. Since this was not optional guess he had to.

SPOILER!!: Paragraph

A charm is a spell that adds certain i guess properties to an thing or creature. Charms are different from lets say transfigurations in that a charm adds or changes properties of an thing. Then you have your really really powerful charms like the Fidelius Charm and your dark charms like curses, hexes, and jinxes. I would like to learn the summoning charm, Hot Air Charm and any other fire making charm other than incendio.

There.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

So he WAS supposed to stick the sticker on his forehead, it hadn’t been a mistake on the board outside of the classroom. Yoongi nodded and then put the sticker on his forehead with a grin. He was suddenly reminded of that class last term where that non professor man gave them stickers whenever they did something right. He hadn’t liked it back then cause he put the stickers on him but now he could do it himself so it was ok.

Another thing though, he still hadn’t swapped his tie for a different one. And as he looked around he suddenly realised how many Gryffindors were in this class. Ah, he would check again later if someone else also had their own tie.

…………writing a paragraph. Uuuuugh. He loved charms , but actually using and practising it, not …this.. But the Gryffindor did look in his bag and took out a piece of parchment, ink and his pink flamingo quill and dipped it in the ink. He thought for a moment and began to write.

SPOILER!!: Parchment

What I know about charms.

I know that a charm is a spell that focuses on changing what an object does. Unlike Transfiguration which will change the appearance of an object, Charms will keep the object as it is and use it in a way it normally can’t. For instance, the levitation charm is used to levitate an object even though it can’t fly. Charms usually last longer than other spells and an object that has a lasting charm on it is called bewitched.

What charms i'd like to learn.

For the most part I want to learn to make my charms more powerful. I pick up spells fairly easily unlike some of my other subjects but I feel like I can do more than I can do now. As for learning a charm, i'd love to learn the Disillusionment Charm.

Her simple question was met with a huge grin, it seemed to be going okay at first.....but then the kids look shifted. She caught a hint of amusement and while it annoyed her she simply held her polite, doll-like smile. When he extended his hand for a shake, instead she flipped her tie off and laid it in his hand. She did not do handshakes little lion, bowing was what you got like it or not.

He bothered with introductions when they were all wearing name tags? Fine enough. That everything alright comment while pointing at his forehead though, caused the pretty blonde snakette to sigh. "Hello. You may call me Ilia if you please." She bowed like a lady as she had declined the handshake. "If you read the board entirely, you will see the instructions regarding the 'stickers'. Trust me, its far from a 'fashion statement' that I would personally enjoy." Yes, she did not look amused by having to wear the bloody sticker or by his gesture and 'question'. She tossed her long blonde hair over her shoulders and took the desk beside the Gryffindor boy.

She didn't even want to look at Henric with a stupid sticker on her forehead. Well at least class was starting.....She followed all of the rules whether she agreed with them or not so hopefully she could get her house some points. Writing time, she could do that.

Text Cut: Parchment
By definition, a charm is a spell that adds certain properties to an object or creature. A charm adds or changes properties of an object and it focuses on altering what the object does as opposed to what the object is like transfiguration. One uncommon example and perhaps exception to this, is that of this is the Patronus Charm, which takes your happy energies and memories and brings them out into a defensive spirit form.

Charms that I would like to learn the most currently are Scarpin's Revelaspell and the Herbivicus charm.

The yellow wall was kinda distracting. The color was too bright for her liking but maybe its the Professor' favorite colors or something like that. She watched as her classmate wrote something about hat their appreciate and posted on the wall. Maybe she should wrote something too.

Quote:
I'm glad to be back to Hogwarts.
There done. After she posted o the wall. Candice took one of the red star sticker because it looked more normal? and put it on her forehead. She didn't really get what the point of the stickers thing but she just gonna rolled with it since the Professor said so.

The Gryffindor filled out her nametag before she took a seat.

They didn't need to wait that long for the Professor to start the lesson.

Huh? Write a paragraph about Charms? And what charms they wanted to learn? She could do that.

SPOILER!!:
Charms is a spell that alter an object without changing its essential nature. Charms could be very helpful for your daily activities, like you could used Summoning Charms to summon something that out of your reach. Or like Bubble-Head Charm that could hep Oceanologist like my uncle to do their job when they're underwater. I'm a diver so I want to learn the Bubble-Head Charm that way I don't have to use the diving tank when I go diving with my uncle.

All done.
