Barnabus the Barmy
|
for Chris ^^ Owen had a mission, a personal mission, and he was pretty determined to get it done. He chose to do this in this part of the castle because it was pretty isolated which meant he would be able to concentrate well. Squatting down a few feet away from the tapestry, the Hufflepuff pulled out his wand from his ankle holster. He also had his notebook out which he turned to a certain page, and a metal basin. He was ready. |

After checking out a landscape or two and then a portrait of a large woman (who it turned out WASN'T the Fat Lady of Gryffindor), the Ravenclaw found himself down a corridor quite far from his Common Room...but not as far as the Hufflepuff he found there. He looked about his age. He was sitting across from a large tapestry of an odd scene to say the least. The trolls were interesting at least. "Is that a bedpan?" Was he going to....do something with it? Milo eyed the boy curiously. |
*posts from phone like a BAWSS* xD Okaaaay. He got the incantation down and he was now practicing the wand movement. Owen found it a little difficult to control his wrist at first due to how filled he was but eventually he got it. Time to see if it would work then. "Agua--" --bedpan? Whuuut? Someone was here and watching him and asking him if what he had with him was a bedpan. Owen laughed. "No...just a metal basin." But...clearing his throat, the Hufflepuff pointed his wand at the basin, concentrated hard, and muttered, "Aguamenti." And from the tip of his wand streamed water. Hersheys! It worked! He looked up at the other boy. "But right now, I think it's kind of a bedpan. Hey, I'm Owen and.......holy toblerones! How do you stop this thing?!" It was overflowing! |

"Owen, hi, I'm Milo." Was he supposed to say that he was a Ravenclaw or was that assumed? He decided that it was assumed and didn't say that. "Are you practicing?" He had already learned the water charm pretty well at home and it seemed that Owen could cast it well too-- "You have to end the incantation." Milo said bending down and coming closer. "It's um, finite, FINITE." he said quickly. Were they going to to get in trouble for spilling water in the floor? |
Quote:
Finite? Finite? "What?" Owen didn't get it at first because he got a little panicked but eventually realized what the other boy was saying. "Finite!" The water stopped and the Hufflepuff sighed in relief. Phew. "Wow. I really need this practice, it seems. Thanks, Milo." He grinned at the other boy and then looked at basin that was now very full with water. "I still have to practice but I don't think the basin can carry any more water." Tsss. Maybe Milo had an idea? He seemed to know more than Owen. An evaporation charm, perhaps? |
You know every so often Dante just had to come up to this floor and laugh at this tapestry. Because really just look at it. What is there not to laugh at. Attempting to train trolls for the ballet is hilarious. That Barnabas was one funny dude. Besides having Dante's middle name which he never says in public. His last name was bad enough for reasons. Though he really should be studying some spells he wants to master this term. But yeah those could wait a couple hours. It was time to have some little fun. |
SPOILER!!: Dante One of the things he loved the most about being a Gryffindor, was that his common room was located in one of the seventh floor towers. This meant three things. 1. He had a fab view from his dorm. 2. Getting to bed after a late Astro session didn't take so long and 3. The daily trips between the common room and classes also included passing the delightfully amusing tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy. And now seemed as good a time as any to admire the scene. Comic relief was always appreciated, and trolls in tutu's never got old. NEVER. He was even convinced he'd find it just as amusing in his seventh year, which didn't seem all too far away, considering. Upon approach, Zeke grinned to himself. Dante! "Feeling inspired?" he asked, sidling up to the Slytherin. |
Quote:
At look who was also walking by this Tapestry. Zeke! "How can you not be inspired by looking at this tapestry. If you can get trolls to do ballet. You can do anything" It was true. Though Dante could not even tell if the dude was a dark wizard or he was just crazy. Could be both. He would never know unless he researched and that is the last thing he wanted to do. "How have you been?" It had been a while since they had even spoke. |
SPOILER!!: Dante It really truly was inspirational, and Dante summed it up all too well. Anything was possible. "Oh the possibilities," Zeke joked poetically. Seriously though, he had always wondered if he might be able to achieve a similar effect with first years. A simple tarantellegra on a horde of first years who were clueless where countering was concerned would be epic and would surely have him in stitches. One day. BUT... how had he been? "Mm 'kay I guess," he could have been better, in fact, he had been better. "How're you going?" he returned, genuinely interested considering it had been too long since they'd properly conversed. |
Quote:
Dante nodded. The possibilities were endless once you have trained trolls to do ballet. Though Dante had no idea if it was hard or anything. Though it gave thought to spells to use on first years or anyone younger ad does not have a way to fight back. Though on the thought of first years. "Yeah I've been okay. Though...you think the first years this term are crazy and it begs the question where we like that?" Because Dante had no idea. |
SPOILER!!: Dante Zeke sniggered as one of the trolls in the tapestry fumbled and fell. And to think ballet was a graceful dance. These trolls had so much of that, clearly. He hadn't expected Dante to not be good, so the confirmation was nice. The thoughts that followed it were certainly an interesting observation. Zeke thought on it a moment, but he really didn't need to. "I do," he confirmed. "The mob we've got are downright certifiably insane..." okay, that was maybe pushing the envelope, BUT, he did have reasons for his thinking. "They never shut up, and they're SO loud, and don't accept anything from Ava Burton." He didn't recall ever being that loud, or annoying, or... yeah, just nuts. Was he wrong in his assessment? Perhaps. "I think we were fine, I mean, look at how we turned out," so far at least, "I doubt they'll settle much." The first year girls were especially loud, he couldn't imagine that changing any time soon. "Recon they need to be taught a thing or two." |
Quote:
"You would think they would just talk about be loud together somewhere else in this giant castle. But nope. Though the Slytherin first years are not bad. Just i keep meeting Gryffindor ones. One jumped on my back in Diagon Alley and called me a noble steed" He will never forget that. Though he and the person who did that are acquaintances "It's true. We are pretty awesome. Though for the effort needed to teach them something might be too much. Might just leave that to Prefects and The Headboy and Headgirl" But he did not even believe what he was saying. He did not trust the Prefects to deal with anything. |
SPOILER!!: Dante It didn't much come as a surprise to him that Dante had only had run-ins with Gryffindor first years, they were a challenging group. Very, challenging. "Consider yourself lucky then, there's no peace in our common room," not really. His dorm wasn't bad though. The whole being jumped on by a first year, was insane, and the fact that he'd been called a noble steed on top of that was downright annoying. "Tell me you fed them to the fountain," he asked, brows raised incredulously. Dante did raise a good point though. Effort. He didn't much care for effort, a little jinxing wouldn't be out of the question though. Heh. Leaving it to Zander and Sophie though, well, that was something else... the prefects in genera maybe, but he didn't think they'd care to pass up time away from their 'significant others'. "I won't hold my breath then," he mused, smirking. |
Quote:
Enough of that. "No it was in the joke shop. I was looking for fireworks and than bam!. Plus i did not want to give them a ride anywhere. Though that would have been a great idea had i been at the fountain" A little jinx or hex there would be fine with Dante. Though Dot already thought he was planing something already. Though he had no idea what. Since you know he was not planning anything. "If i held my breath i would be unconscious before anything got done" |
Quote:
As for the water. "I'm sure there is a vase or something nearby that could use watering." Or if there weren't any flowers in it maybe they could just dump in in there. "Or a window maybe?" |
Quote:
And yes, as for the water. Owen blinked at the other boy. Dump the water through the window? Wicked and an awesome idea but...what if someone below took an un-ordered shower? They could get in trouble. Soooo...the finding a vase choice seemed a much better choice. "Do you think you can help find a vase? Or vases, preferably?" He seemed like he wasn't in any rush anyway. |
Quote:
His magical background? Milo grinned at the Puff's wording. "Well my mom's a witch and my dad was a Muggle. He died a few years ago though." He wasn't really sad anymore just missed him. So it was okay for him to talk about it. |
Quote:
And look it! He found big vases over there! "I see vases!" Theeeeere. Carrying the basin full of water, Owen headed over to one and poured about half of the basin contents into it, the rest he dumped over into the next one. Yay! Crisis solved. He could go back to practicing now. "Do you want to practice with me, Milo?"They could get to know each other more while they did so. They were kinda friends now, right? |
Quote:
Ah yes, a pair of large vases so they could ditch the water without getting in trouble. "Sure, I could use some practice." Never could have too much that is. He crossed the corridor and fell into a cross-legged position on the stone floor and picked absently at the rug as he waited for Owen to join him. "Shall I go now then?" he asked, holding his hand out for the metal basin. |
Quote:
Following Milo's lead, Owen handed over the basin and sat down cross-legged across his friend. "Go ahead." He can learn from watching first. |
