Austin walked along the corridor hoping to find an empty compartment. Sadly, he found none, but what he did find was a young boy reading. The boy looked to be in his first or second year, and he was the only one in the compartment. So hopefully it would be cool to sit with him.
"Do you mind if I sit here?" He said, knocking. "The whole front of the train is full, and I'm not willing to check the back." That was part because he was lazy, and part because he knew there wouldn't be one. Austin was late to the train this year. His younger sister was throwing a fit, and it was hard for him and his dad to get her dressed.
He blinked and looked up as he heard someone talking, "Hm?" The second year paused for a second, having been lost in the book, but it clicked slowly what he'd been asked, "Oh, oh... Of course you can sit." Philipe smiled slightly and looked at the older boy.
He started to look back down into the book again but paused realizing he was being rude by not at least saying his name, "I'm Philipe, by the way." He gave a small nod and marked his page before closing the book, if the boy wanted to talk he wasn't going to have it seem like he didn't want to converse... It would be nice to actually have a friend this coming year.

SPOILER!!: Zeke
Laying down just didn't feel right any longer, and he was far too alert to properly 'rest' in this position. Swinging his legs off the side, he pulled himself up into a sitting position. Zeke nodded solemnly to Hady's reply, because yes, it was so indeed. It was cute though that she thought she had the ability to MAKE him dance should she want to. Pfft. Yeah, good one. Hilarious. "If believing that makes you feel better, then I suggest you don't try... I'd hate for that bubble of yours to pop," he goaded, returning her playful wink.
He gazed out the window, watching as the pastures rolled past, his eyes also focusing on Hady in the reflection. He was sure that they would find somewhere nice, though the prospect of house hunting was incredibly dull and not at all motivating, especially from Hogwarts. "It is nice to be included," he agreed in the end, turning back to her.
The 'but' had given him hope, and so he watched Hady with renewed interest. As se fished around in her robe pocket, he couldn't help but think that perhaps he ought to change soon too... it wouldn't be long until they were there. Catching the small package she threw at him, Zeke grinned when he saw it was candy, and better still, cherry flavoured. "You're a life saver," he stated with all the seriousness in the world. His stomach would be grateful. "Thanks." Of course, now with a mouth full of candy, he didn't have much more to say.
Did he seriously just doubt her abilities on this matter? It sounded very much like he had. Hady eyed him up for a few seconds before she simply smirked at him. "You're only saying that because you know I can, should I choose to." There was a small sparkle in her eye that showed a hint of playfulness should he look closely enough to spot it however her tone was nothing other then a hundred percent serious.
When Zeke moved to sit up and look out the window Hady found herself instinctively turning a bit more sideways in her seat to be able to look at him when they spoke to each other. "It is. I'm sure in the end he'll make the right choice." Her father always knew what was best in the end even if it didn't seem that way at first.
"Anytime, anytime", she commented lightly with a small laugh. She knew. Since first year she knew his favorite flavor. Hady smiled watching him eating the candy, her hand eventually making it's way into her other pocket and pulling out a jolly rancher for herself. Of course it was green apple flavored. Unwrapping it and popping it into her mouth she leaned her head back on the window. "So what do you think this year will be like?"

Hmm, Daxton was nonverbal because of something in his brain. Interesting. Davie wondered if a Healer like his uncle might be able to fix that for him, but he would never wonder that aloud. He also (mistakenly) assumed that Daxton just meant he gestured to talk with his hands, since he had no knowledge of Muggle sign language.
"Well," he responded finally, "at least you'll never lose points for talking out of turn." He smiled a little at the boy, even though he was thinking of how frustrating it must be to not talk whenever you wanted to, and how maybe Daxton wouldn't be able to show how smart he is in class because he'll probably never raise his hand.
But those were thoughts for another time, if they got to know each other better. "Did you have more questions about Hogwarts?" David asked instead, thinking that if not, he might head down to the food trolley.
For a moment, Daxton wondered whether or not that was supposed to be a joke, and one at his expense, too. He had a hard time picking up on such things, and almost always missed them. But after spending the last four years in a school where the other children made it fairly obvious that they were laughing at him, it had become his default to be suspicious. Not because he found it upsetting, but because it never took long for a that to turn into something more sinister, so it was always smart to be on guard.
Daxton eyed David Truebridge for a moment. The smile could mean anything; he didn't know if it was a mocking smile or just a happy smile, or if this boy was just one of those people where that was just their face. It was frustrating, not being able to tell, but hardly an unfamiliar feeling.
He did have more questions, as it happened, but Daxton didn't want to seem like he was relying on David Truebridge for anything. The likelihood was that he could find more out eventually, and until then he had what was currently the most valuable thing to him; information about the Sorting.
So he shook his head, his expression impassive once again, and went back to inspecting the liquorice wand once again without so much as 'thank you' for the information David Truebridge had provided.

It was a good thing Davie kept his expectations for others low, at a level which was achievable for even the most basic human beings. This way, he never got upset when other people failed to rise to the occasion, or even to rise at all and show a little response for how helpful and awesome he was. Ahem. That small joke had been just to lighten the mood, okay.
At Daxton's almost dismissive shake of the head, Davie nodded and rose from his own seat. "It was nice meeting you, then," he excused himself politely. "I'll see you at school." With that, he quietly slipped out the door of the compartment and shut it behind him. Time to find Char.
