Centered among the shops of Hogsmeade is a well enough known pub in the small village, called The Three Broomsticks. Not unlike the Hog's Head down the street in the strictest idea of pubs, drinks and the like, however it is the atmosphere that helps make the latter choice the one hailed by the mass majority. The outside of the building is a good preview of what the inside may look like with the same steep roof as the surrounding buildings, yet taller, with a sign on it's facade featuring, you guessed it, the legendary three boomsticks, all fixed around a lantern to light the patrons' way.
Once you enter the pub, smells and the warmth of the large stone fireplace great you as you place hats and coats by the door. Directly infront of you there are tables and booths lining the majority of the small hall with oil lamps placed on each one. On winter days it is usually hard to find a place beside the large fire grate but if you're early enough, only Merlin can say what will happen. To your left the bar and most likely the bartender Harold "Hops" Lagerty, await you and your order--a few stools await you to take a load off and shoot the breeze with others.
The bartender is pretty sociable to those who don't annoy him. He's seen his lot of warlocks, goblins, and Hogwarts kids to know which ones were trouble and which of those made loyal customers, so be sure not to be put on the first part of the list.
A few rules from the Shop Owner: No brawling, no shouting (angrily), no alcohol to minors, and don't go up the stairs, I live up there.
OCC Rules: No RPing for the shopkeeper and all other School RPG Rules apply.

She had been cured from her sickness, growing up, accepting her fate, and not to mention that she's being more mature than other 22-year-old girls.
Having a break time from her study at Hopkins, the brunette girl decided to visit London instead coming back to Seattle. She did miss being a witch-Well, she's still one but she rarely practiced it around since she currently lived around muggle community and she studied at medical school to be a doctor. Yep, a doctor. It's a looooong story why she decided to be a doctor instead of pursuing her wizarding education. Before she arrived at London, Raven did write a note to Zhenya that she's gonna be around Hogsmeade and perhaps they could meet up. They decided to meet here, at the Three Broomsticks.
Entering the pub, she took of her coat and looked around. Well, seemed like she was too early because she hadn't seen her friend around. Never mind, she could wait. After getting a glass of warm butterbeer, she walked to the corner and sat there, resting her long legs after a looong journey. Hmm... How she missed butterbeer and this place so much.
Zhenya was rugged up against the cold as she walked through Hogsmeade, towards the Three Broomsticks. She was eager for a butterbeer, so she quickened her pace a bit. She was also desperate to see her old friend Raven. She'd seen her over the summer holidays, in Seattle, but now she was in England.
Zhenya opened the door and spotted her almost immediately. A big smile spread across her face as she headed towards the table and hugged her friend. "Hi Raven! How are you? It's so good to see you!" Zhenya rubbed her face as she sat down, then yawned. "Sorry, I didn't get much sleep last night," she said, not wanting Raven to think she was already bored. How could she be? This was the most social interaction she had had since... well, for a while. Besides classroom stuff. "How's Seattle and Hopkin's University going?" she asked, loosening her scarf.

She already had two glasses of butterbeer while waiting for her friend. Sorry not sorry but she hadn't had this butterscotch drink for a long time. Even when she visited wizarding community in Salem, butterbeer was very hard to find there. So she was permitted to drink more, okay?
It's so crowded here by the way. The brunette girl glanced around and realized that mostly this place was full of the Hogwarts students. Gosh, they were soooo noisy and blah... Maybe because she spent most of her time alone in library or lab for studying so she's not really comfortable being here. Well, she's being here because she wanted to see her old friend who now was currently struggling for NEWTs. Speaking of... There she was. "Hey there, Z!" Her smiled widened as Zhenya walked to her and gave a hug. Raven was not really a hugger and also not really the friendliest person in the world except when she was with Zhenya. In fact that she's the only friend that she had now besides her cancer ward group, but most of them were already dead now.
"That explains why you looked so horrible." She said as she noticed Zhenya looked so tired and sleepy. But well, she was so familiar with that since medical school was also consuming her sleep time. "Well, I'm great. Hopkins is good though the competition is so tight there. I'm surrounding by the genius muggles and Ivy league snobs." That was her term to describe a bunch of arrogant students who came from Ivy league institution and often underestimate others who came from public or community college like her. "But going to Hopkins is the best decision that I've ever made in my life." She continued. And Seattle? Merlin, she missed that city very much. Especially the ferry-boat riding and the rain. "I haven't went back there since last year." Maybe she should visit Seattle next summer since Milla still lived there.
"I'm not gonna ask how's your life going on since I already see it from your lack-of-sleep face." She slightly chuckled. "Don't you really have a life besides locking yourself for NEWTs? If yes, then we're same." Like she had said before, most of her time was for studying. Because she had set her goals like be the first class of Johns Hopkins Medical School, getting a surgical residency in a famous hospital, and of course being a foremost neurosurgeon. Raven took the last gulp of her second butterbeer and now she wanted to order another glass... "You want some drinks? I'll treat ya, don't worry."

Reason: gonna fail my proficiency test because of this mistake -____-
Kace raised his eyebrows at Cinna and laughed at her sassiness. He muttered, "Well this is a shame because I wanted to surprise Emmy with some balloons. You blew it." He was kidding of course. He just wanted to know what she had done with the balloons. He turned his attention onto Keely and he chuckled when she gave him his title already. I guess he will always be known as Emmy's boyfriend. "Yeah I am. I mean I sure hope so.." Just a little humor added in there. "Do you go to Hogwarts?" he asked. I mean he never seen her before. Kace beamed at Emmy and kissed her in front of everyone of course. I mean Bart and Cinna did. He even continued to hold her hand too. "So tell me Emms, how are you doing? I mean with your mom and everything? You still okay?" She seemed to be but he wanted to make sure.

Zhenya just laughed at what her friend said. She knew she looked terrible. Pale, thin, dark shadows around her eyes. She looked like a zombie vampire. She just brushed it off. After the exams, she would spend as much time as she could outside, freshening up.
She listened as her friend spoke of Hopkins. It sounded great, but stressful. "Ivy League? What's that?" she asked. "How come you're not in that league? You're the smartest person I know!" Although if it was all snobby people, Zhenya was glad Raven wasn't part of that group.
Oh that was right - Raven moved away from Seattle. Zhenya facepalmed at her own mind blank. "Um... where was Hopkins again? Boston? Baltimore?" B something perhaps? Zhenya couldn't remember. Obviously her memory had cleared out all the non-exam information. Hopefully it was just stored away somewhere safe, and hadn't been destroyed. She'd need that information after NEWTs.
Zhenya shook her head, "Nope. Library, my bed, common room, empty classes... corridors... you name the place and I've studied there. Alone." She shrugged, "Mostly just the library and the common room. The house elves make a nice hot chocolate when I want to go to bed though," she smiled. It helped her relax. Raven was buying? "Oh um... thanks Raven. I'd love a butterbeer actually," she said.

Glad that her friend didn't find her words too offensive. Sometimes people thought that she's too sarcastic and offensive because she couldn't help it. She preferred to speak the truth, even if it hurts. It hurts more when you realized that people lie, like Milla who lied about her whole early life.
"Ivy league is a group of elite and top private universities in US. There are eight of them; Harvard, Brown, Yale, Columbia, Princeton, Cornell, UPenn and Dartmouth. And Ivy league snobs is a bunch of... brainless arrogant students who got their bachelor degree there before went to Hopkins." The brunette girl explained. Not all of them were brainless, okay? "What I hate from them is they often underestimate people who came from public university, or community college like me." And for the record, Raven was also accepted as a student of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons but she turned it down for Hopkins because... Helloooooooooooo!!! Hopkins is better! She's not gonna turn it down unless she got an offer from Harvard or Stanford. "And thank you very much, I appreciate that." She said as Zhenya admitted that she's smart.
"Hopkins is in Baltimore, Maryland." She replied. "I think you study too much that you kinda forget any other stuffs besides the lessons. You still remember your name and other personal details?" She asked sarcastically. Because it seemed like her brain was full of... Runes, karmic number, how to take care dragons, human transfiguration and other NEWTs lessons. "Yeah, I know the drill. Medical school is pretty much the same. All we have to do is just study and study, no time for social life." Well, sometimes the students still threw a party, especially after exams. What she meant especially that she didn't have time for love life. Dating and other kind that stuffs. She just wanted to focus on her study.
House elves. Raven wasn't a big fan of that creatures. "So, what's going on lately at Hogwarts and around? Wait, I don't think you knew it because you lock yourself for study and didn't pay attention around. Forget that I'm asking." And again, hope that her friend wouldn't be offended. Then she stood up and went back with two glasses of butterbeer in her hands. "Believe it or not, this is already my third glass since I'm here." She said as she handed the glass to her friend.
It actually meant two things:
1. She loved butterbeer so much.
2. It's a sarcastic comment that it took a long time to wait for her showing up.
"How are the twins by the way?" She asked out of nowhere. "Shame that I've never met both of them. In fact, I'd never met any of your siblings. And uh... I supposed you still haven't spoke to your parents?" The last time she heard, Zhenya was currently living with her older brother. She didn't remember much why she moved out from her parents and never came back there.

I supposed you still haven't spoke to your parents?" The last time she heard, Zhenya was currently living with her older brother. She didn't remember much why she moved out from her parents and never came back there.
Zhenya was interested to hear what the Ivy League was. She had thought it was a group, a club or something, but no, just a type of school it seemed. "Well, good for them," she said, "But who cares where you get your bachelor. If you're smart enough to get into Hopkins, then that's all that matters." She believed her words. It shouldn't be about where people went to school, or who their family was, it should be about how hard you studied and how much effort you put in.
"Baltimore, that's right." She laughed then, "Yep, well I know my name. Sometimes I have difficulty with my surname and my birthday but who cares? I can cast a Patronus," she said excitedly. Of course she knew her surname and birthdate. Just... not any of her friends. Zhenya nodded in understanding, "So... do you have exams coming up or is it a year long thing?" She sometimes hated all the exams at the end of the year. Back in Russia they did them every 6 months, but at least it was only 6 months of work to remember, not a whole year; or SEVEN.
What was going on around Hogwarts? Zhenya took a bit gulp of her butterbeer, almost explaining that she had no idea, when Raven guessed anyway. Zhenya smiled, "Yeah I... kind of don't know. I heard something about a Hippogriff running off. The groundskeeper may or may not have been harmed... or killed... and there's lots of cobwebs everywhere... I don't know what that's about." No idea. She just knew it freaked her out. Zhenya laughed, "Thanks. Well... Nasdarovje," she said in her native tongue, holding her mug out to clink. Good wishes, good health, that sort of cheers.
Oh, the twins!? Zhenya smiled, her face warming, "They're really good! Ava's such a little prankster but she's doing really well. And Teddy's... well, let's just say if he took the NEWT's now I wouldn't be surprised if he scored better than I did," she laughed. Of course he wouldn't, but it wouldn't surprise her if he was already studying, sharing trivia with Ava and their parents. "Ava's actually been um... fighting people," people? person? "Teddy gets a bit bullied at their muggle school, and Ava sticks up for him." She was proud of Ava for doing this for her brother. She shook her head, "Nope," and took another sip. "I don't know, I don't want to open that can of worms until after NEWT's. I don't want to be thinking about it. Maybe when I head back home I'll reach out to them." She had been thinking about it.

"Ivy league school is the best, especially Harvard. I'd like to go there since their medical school is the best, but Hopkins is on the top three and I'm not regretting it. So yeah, they have something that make them so arrogant." Mostly about money since the fee there is not cheap, then their intelligence. "It's like the old-fashioned pureblood wizards thought that they're the best, seriously." She had experienced that before back when she was in Hogwarts, especially that she's in a Slytherin. But her friend was right, the background didn't really matter anymore. So that's why she's working very hard to be the best. The best of the best. She didn't really care about any other thing beside her study which makes why some people thought that she's too ambitious and cold. Hellloooooooo, She's a Slytherin and once a Slytherin will always be a Slytherin, even she didn't finish her education at Hogwarts. "I could hex them if I'm allowed to do that." The brunette said jokingly.
She could cast a patronus? WOW! Well, Raven was not really surprised since she knew that Zhenya was smart too. "That's great. But still, if you were lost in a strange place and you don't remember your personal details, it'll be disaster." Haha! Of course that her friend still remembered about those. Human brain can receive and keep so much information--she learned it back in medical school of course. So it's not gonna be easy for someone losing their memory unless it got wiped up by memory charm or in muggle case, amnesia. "The official exams is every six months, but we have to study every time since we have to be prepared to the class..." Paused. "Like in Hogwarts, they often asked the students some questions, only if you didn't know the answer you can be kicked out. Kinda harsh, I know. But that's the system. The Professors don't give too many lectures, they just give the brief things and they we, the students have to be... more active. Read more literature, discuss it with them, and sometimes we deliver the lessons or cases to the entire classmate by presentation." Hope that it made sense? Kinda difficult to explain new things to some people that uh... don't really understand about that.
"Huh." That just came out from her mouth when Zhenya told her what was going on at Hogwarts. Still, every year weird things happened there. "Maybe there are a lot of cobwebs there because the house-elves are getting lazy or something? Or maybe there's giant spiders or acromantula?" Anything could happen at Hogwarts, okay? The brunette then stopped for a while and sipped her butterbeer. She didn't have any idea about the hippogriffs and the groundskeeper.
Raven just listened about her friends talking about the twins. There's one thing that she envied about her: she had a nice family... sort of. "How old are they?" Around eight or nine maybe? She didn't really remember. "Oh, Poor Teddy. Why he was getting bullied?" Muggle kids were mean sometimes, especially to the weak ones. That's what she ever heard from her friends in Children's hospital. But not all of them were mean. 'And how could both of them are so different? They're not getting switch at birth, were they?" Of course it wouldn't true. And sometimes twins do have different personalities, especially the fraternal ones. She didn't want to make any comment about Zhenya's problems with her parents. Why she had to bring it up before? Blah, sometimes she couldn't control her brain-mouth relationship.

Just when she was going to answer his question the sixth years jaw dropped as he kept talking and then he mentioned her mother. Out of all days why would he ask about her right now? OF ALL DAYS! What did he just ask? He really didn't just asked that right now. She couldn't believe it. Emmylou let go of his hand. "What...? Why would you ask that?" What was wrong with him?!? The blonde just blinked for a moment. "I hate her, she very clearly hates me! She tore my family apart!" She barely got to see her father these days thanks to her mother. "Not everyone's family is so happy and perfect like yours and Lux's!" She crossed her arms and looked away from him. "You guys don't have parents that hate you." Mainly one parent hated her. There was a chance that she was going to start crying.

Seeing a young lad come up to the counter Harold nodded as he ordered butterbeer. As he turned to get the two drinks he wondered if these were a few more Valentine's Day dates. "Care for a few heart shape cookies for you and your friend." He wasn't going to assume, but he had assumed.
Setting the drinks of the counter, "That will be ten sickles please." He waiting and took the boys money as he continued to talk to his friend. "You two have a good day now."[/QUOTE]
Heart shaped what now?
Oh right. It was that day. That day where everything was pink and fluffy and cherry and ... heart shaped. Despite the fact it was a kind offer, Amur couldn't help the distasteful wrinkle of her nose.
"Thanks, Sir. But don't think it'd go great with butterbeer." Cue polite smile and nod. "But thanks. And thanks for the drinks."
And with that, she scuttled as quickly as possible away from the heart-shaped offers.

But then all thoughts of points and keeping score were forgotten, because if he wasn't mistaken, Amur smelled strongly of a conspiracy theory. A juicy one a that. Admittedly, he hadn't thought of anything like that until she'd said it, but ti DID make some sense. It did. Crazy, but perhaps with a great deal of truth in it. "So, by not letting me be sorted to Ravenclaw, it was limiting my potential? But if it were to do that properly then I wouldn't be in Gryffindor." Truth. Because frankly, he felt as if he belonged. So how would she explain that? And... if the sorting hat was limiting them, then how did it try to limit her? He assumed she wasn't one of said 'victims'. "Where did it try to sort you?" he asked, curiosity burning.
Zeke followed her to the side of the room, slipping into the booth opposite her. He was taking a generous swig of his butterbeer when she said something about burning it. ..... it was a good thing he didn't spit his drink in her direction, managing to keep his mouth closed despite his lips tightening into a smirk.
Merlin.
"I threatened to burn it if it sorted me to Hufflepuff, it changed its mind very quickly, so I think burning it would mean the end of it." Like, fire, was the ULTIMATE weapon. "So when are we doing it?" Were they going to try for a night operation or were they going to go it in the day? So many options, and access wasn't all too limited, he knew of plenty that went in and out her office. They would just need to make sure they weren't the only ones in there if they were to go it in the day.
He was perhaps a little distracted by the foam on her lip, but he heard her words nonetheless. "That's what I kept saying, but she always has an answer to everything. At least dad's on my side, kinda." Maybe not with the name thing, he didn't know, but he was on his side where Emily's 'killer' concerns were concerned. He thought it was laughable, so there was nothing much left to it. And as quickly as that was said and done, Amur looked as guilty as if she'd have stabbed him in the back right then and there. "No, it's fine. It is ridiculous, all sorts of ridiculous... if only you knew." The lectures, the warnings, the chaperones.... it got old.
He grinned though, taking another small sip of his drink before continuing. "Of course, I've done some research, by the time I'm done with them they won't have any reason not to give me my name." As far as he was concerned, it was already his.
Thankfully, Zeke was a brilliant distraction from all heart-related talks.
A sneaky grin crept across her lips. "Thank you. Challenge accepted." Yup. She was going to do it. One day, she would catch him without a point. That, would be a day for the history books.
Because there he went again. Having a point. Amur's mouth twisted as he nearly shot down her theory about the hat. She thought about it over another sip of her butterbeer before shaking her head. "But did you think you originally belonged in Gryffindor? Cause if you didn't, then you shouldn't be in Gryffindor. You only think that now because that's where it said you should be, and everyone believes the hat."
Quite strange really. So much faith in a talking hat. It was laughable, really. "It didn't try to sort me anywhere else. Put me in Gryffindor. Dung-bettles know why." Shaking her head she craddled her drink in one hand, considering her friend. "What if the houses themselves are a ruse? The whole concept. Shoving us into four 'groups'. Groups that essentially tell us how to act, how to behave, what our 'character' and 'personality' is. And it's such a long tradition, so well known and standing that of course people believe it. It's like divination. You see it if you want to see it."
Did he see? Surely he did. He had a Ravenclaw...no, a smart brain after all.
And then he had her grinning. So, he would burn it with her? Good. Cause someone was going to have to gag the hat. She had a feeling it was a screamer. "Not early in the morning. The Dragon has her morning tea at that time. Bet at early evening and midnight too. We'd have to go just before then, when she's likely to be dreaming about how to best repress the talents and lives of students."
A bit harsh? Maybe. But the stories she had heard. A shiver ran through her.
But there was hope. Zeke was on her side, and he would soon be a Browne. Possessed of all the knowledge, superstition and confidence of the Browne's. Or at least, of his mother and the Auror's. Family traits and all, right? At least he wasn't mad at her. That let her breathe a bit easier. A small smile touched her lips and she raised her glass. "Then a toast to you. On your new, proper name. Mr. Browne. On battling ridiculousness for right."

Even though things were kind of awkward because her and Emmy were off, Lux was still pretty glad that she had come. And no, she was not going to tell Kace what the present was. Emmy was right there, and he would see for himself when she opened it.
Suddenly, the mood changed and Emmy was upset. What on earth had possessed Kace to ask about her mother? He should know better than that. "How about we give you your presents now, Emmy?" she asked in the hopes that it would help take her mind off of her mother. Kace had better give his girlfriend a hug after this, because she didn't think Emmy would take one from her.
Was this everyone? She looked around. Yep this was probably everyone. They had a pretty good group. So far everyone was getting along and things were going good. She smiled it was her birthday but she was still pretty happy. She was kind of in a mood for a butterbeer maybe she would order one for everyone there later. She turned to Keely. "Thanks you. I'm glad you enjoyed the decorations too." So maybe she didn't hear her singing to Emmy this morning. This was a great relief to her. She gave Emmy a nod. "Of course I do." Hehe she love spoiling her friends.
The sixth year had the bag ready to give it to Emmy when she felt two little arms around her. Wait, what? Who was that? Oh she turned when she heard Sissy and Em and Emmy. She knew exactly who it was now. "Chase!" She pulled her little brother on to her lap. What was he doing here? Was dad and Rae here? She looked around. She didn't see either one of them. She hopped that it would just be Rae. She really wasn't in the mood to have her dad and Bart at the same table or place for that matter. "where's daddy and mommy, Chase?" Asking her brother. How did he get here? She looked at Emmy quizzically.
Her brown eyes when straight to Kace. She glared at him "Do you really think she wants to talk about her mother today. How dare you even ask her and of all days." He better be glad that Chase was on her lap other wise Kace was going to get a black eye maybe two if someone didn't stop her.
