The student garden was once a beehive of student activity, but in recent terms, it has fallen by the wayside. Over the summer, however, Headmistress Truebridge worked hard to restore the originally started by Professor Caraccio. Puffapods and flutterbies planted in Term 21 can still be found in the southwestern corner of the garden, and the once-dull tool shed has been repainted to a bright, shiny pink house for tools, buckets and watering cans.
A small warm, shallow pond with giant Victoria amazonica water lilies borders the western edge of the garden and newly painted pink benches have been renovated so hardworking students may take a rest after pulling weeds. Lining the student gardens are the cherry trees which were grafted in Term 15, and the northern planters of the garden are occupied by the student hybrid flowers created at the end of Term 16. Don't be alarmed by the number of already-occupied planters, however. There's still plenty of room for you to leave your mark!
SPOILER!!: Basic Map of the Student Garden
*Yes I made that in photoshop 20 terms ago and yes it is crude so just squint and play along, k?*
The sixth year Hufflepuff did have every intention of venturing into the greenhouses soon, but today, she was interested in something a little more peaceful. The student gardens could offer just that. Peace and quiet. Entering the garden, she meandered over to the rows of flutterbies and puffapods. They definitely needed some attention. Kneeling beside the first few plants, she started to pull some of the weeds that had begun to sprout.

Kace was making his way to the greenhouses because why not right? He never really been on this side of the castle often. He just wanted to see what he was missing out. As he made his way closer, he noticed a girl pulling out weeds. He furrowed his brows and wondered who that could be. He hadn't seen that girl like ever or it could have been a while. He cleared his throat in order not to scare her. "Hello..." he greeted her with. "Do you need help with that?" he said referring to her pulling weed task.

As she weeded Kara began to hum quietly. It wasn't something she normally did while gardening, but she knew that the flutterby bushes enjoyed singing, and this was as close as she'd get. No singing for her. She was so into her gardening, she didn't notice the guy coming up. And even with him trying not to scare her, the poor girl had been extra jumpy for the last several months, and well, she jumped and the noise of his throat clearing.
Kara looked up, and after the initial surprise, she realized that she had seen this guy in the common room a few times. “Oh, um, Hi.” she said, letting a smile tug on the corner of her mouth. Sure she was shy and kept to herself, but she was observant and cautious. “Sure,” she nodded. 'if you'd like to help. I'm just weeding for now.”

Kace felt bad for interrupting this girls weeding. She was trying to fix the plants and such. "Sorry I didn't mean to scare you. Have we met before though? I swear we have....Your in the house of hufflepuff right?" I mean it had been a while since he had seen her. Well she said he can help out so bent down and got on his knees and began to weed with her. Man these things needed a lot of help. "Man I never realized how much help these plants needed.." he said tugging hard on one weed. "I mean even this one is stuck.." he said tugging on it a little hard and got it. He sprayed a little dirt and he grinned sheepishly. He noticed it got a little bit on her clothes."So tell me what year are you in?" he asked to make a little conversation. "Also I am Kace Lecium.." he said to remind her of his name.

“Oh, its fine. I just wasn't expecting anyone to be out here. At least not in the garden. Herbology doesn't seem to rate very high on most people's radar.” The girl nodded. “Sort of, we're in the same house, yeah. We've kinda passed each other a few times, but I don't think we've actually spoken before.” And well, if they actually had, Sorry? She felt like her brain was a bit leaky these days thanks to things. Anyways, it seemed like he didn't remember.
“Plants need a lot of care actually. There's always things that need to be done. You see these Flutterby bushes? It actually looks like they are due for a trim, and I was going to so that next.” Kara laughed, as her garden partner sprayed dirt everywhere. “looks like they need some watering too.” It was a pretty good thing she decided to take a look at the garden. “Sixth yeah. Kara Macmillian.... Or, actually, I guess its Swynford now. Just not used to it yet.” It was new, and although she was grateful, she wasn't sure about everything.

Kace smiled at the girl and she brought out a good point. "You know it is true but I don't see why. I mean some plants are really beautiful. I am in love with some flowers especially those who some nice." He grinned and he began to examine some of the flowers past the weeds. He picked out a red rose to give to Emmy later on. "Aahh well there is a lot of hufflepuffs lately. So you know we can start over. You haven't been in the classes right?" he asked just to sure. Look at this girl putting Lecium to work. He grinned and with his honor he would trim the bushes. "Sure I can do that.." he said and went to go find a trimmer.
Once he found the tool which was in the greenhouse, he began to trim the bush.
Once he felt it was well cut and he wiped off some of the sweat off his forehead, he heard the girls name. "Well then nice to meet you Kara.." he smiled and went to go get a watering can since she said the bushes needed watering. He realized the watering can was empty and he needed to fill it with water. He went to the hose and filled up the can. After the heavy jug was filled he began to water the bushes and man they were thirsty. They sucked the water right out.
"Man they were thirsty.." he said in amazement. He wondered what other jobs he can help out. "Any other jobs you need me to do Kara?" I mean if not he could do some exploring.

Kara nodded. “Yeah, but beauty doesn't come easy, especially when it comes to stuff like this. People don't want to put the hard work in. But I like it, like getting to work, and make things grow.” She liked being by herself too, though, saying that seemed kinda rude, so lips zipped on that. “Yeah, there's quite a lot.” Maybe even too many. It needed to be not so crowded. It made her highly uncomfortable. “I've been there, I, well, I just usually sit at the back, and stay quiet.” Staying out of the professor's hair was really her main agenda these days, especially considering the things that had happened in the last year.
Kara was startled when Kace got up, and was even more surprised when he came back with trimmers. “Where did you find those?” she asked as the guy began to trim. She wanted to keep weeding before starting on anything else, but then at the mention of watering, he popped off again to go get a watering can, she shook her head. “ You know, I didn't mean for you to do all the trimming and the watering. I was just mentioning that they needed to be done.” She pulled out her wand, helped to water some of the plants as well. “Hmm, I don't know. We've done the major stuff I guess. Can you think of anything?”

Kace nodded and understood what Kara was saying. It was true the time and effort you put into something, you can see the beauty of it and others can too. That goes with plants. I mean the plants were really gorgeous. He chuckled at Kara's response and it was something he did in the class. "That is so true. I sit in the back of the classroom too. I mean I am not the best in Herbology but I try. I know my friends Lux and Adi are know it alls in the class." he smirked and was joking yet truthful at the same time. "Do you sit in the back to be avoided getting called on?" he asked.
When he came back with the trimmers, he heard Kara ask him where he got them. He shrugged like it was no big deal. "Oh I got them in the shed over there." he pointed behind him. "Awww no no it is fine. I don't mind doing a little manual labor actually. It is sometimes comforting. I am used to doing it in my own house." He said it was kind of like second nature. What other things needed to be done? He couldn't think of anything. "Hmmm well we may need fertilizer.." he said thinking out loud. "Do you think so?"

Kara continued her work on the plants as they talked. They really were starting to look much better, and it was making her quite happy. With the plants at least, the conversation had kind of turned to something that made her uncomfortable. She tried to hide it, though she did start playing with the end of her braid. "Yeah, its mostly that I guess. Stay out of the way, they won't call on you." Its not like she wasn't smart, it was just that even after having two full years of magical training, she still felt like she was often behind the others. And of course, there was her well, fear, of some of the professors. "Its just, easier that way."
"Oh, I didn't even notice the shed," she admitted sheepishly. "I was just focused on what I was working on, I guess." Plucking a couple of weeds, she nodded. Hard work wasn't foreign to her. "You do a lot of manual labor at home? Do you live on a farm too or something?" Sitting back, she rested on her heels and observed their work so far. It was looking very beautiful, and she was quite pleased with their progress. "Hmmm," she mused. "I think a little bit of fertilizer would be okay." Getting up, she rubbed her hands on her pants to clean them off. "Did they have some in the shed?"

Kace saw Kara was starting to feel uncomfortable with the subject and he understood. He was gonna let it go because some people didn't like being the spotlight in the classroom. I mean there is a lot of pressure on you. If you get called on and you get the answer wrong you feel like a dummy. If you get called on and get the answer right people think you are the nerd and expect to get every other question right. There is no in between. He smiled warmly and knew it was easier. She didn't notice the shed? It was right there! Well hang on there were trees and bushes covering it. He would give her that one. "Well the trees and bushes disguised it. It is fine." he grinned.
Look at Kara getting right to the point with her question. He chuckled and nodded. "Yeah I do work on a farm. I work on it with my grandma and parents. I help them mostly with the chores because someone needs to with younger limbs as my parents would say." he laughed. He could even hear their voices when he said the quote. "I also work with the animals too. So I guess manual labor is kind of second nature to me." he shrugged like it wasn't a big deal. He rested too a little bit like she did and looked at their work. Now onto fertilizer. "Yeah there is, I can help you get some. It looked like a heavy bag." The least he can do.
Now onto his questions. "Now tell me what kind of lifestyle do you live in? Do you live on a farm too?" he asked curiously.

The sixth year smiled as he listened to the boy talk about working on a farm. It was something that was actually starting to be familiar to her. “Yeah, they need all that muscle right?” she asked, lifting her arm and flexing it. Not that there was a whole lot there for her to flex, she was just having fun and all. “oh? What kind of animals do you work with?” Nodding, she offered her hand to help him up. “Help would be most appreciated,”
“I, um, live on a farm now too.” she said reaching up and twirling her hair again. “Me and my sister, and I've been trying to help out with things. I'll help out with the animals some, but I really enjoy helping out in the gardens.”
