Come send a note or letter using your own owl or any of the school owls. Owls line the walls in nooks and on branches. Pellets, old animal skeletons, and belladonna berries are on the floor.
There are a few pieces of parchment, a ragged quill, and a dried-up bottle of ink on an old wooden desk in the corner should you need to add a postscript to your letter.

A few letters to send off to some of his colleagues back in London regarding some exoplanet research he had been doing on the side tucked under his arm, the Astronomy professor made his way up to the Owlery with a bit of spring to his step. He had made some real stellar discoveries recently and could not wait to see if his findings were mirrored in those of his esteemed colleagues. Maybe they finally would have a proper jumping off point to move forward with phase 2?
Selecting a few school owls, Airey set to assigning each of them with a letter.

The astronomy professor's blond hair must have looked particularly glorious in the sunlight today, because in a sudden, he had a bat in it. Literally. Cute little ears, wide curious brown eyes, and puffy cheeks, just clinging to the man's head. It's little tongue peaked out from all that flying. Or...just because.
It tried maneuvering around to sit in a better spot, but...
The letter attached to it's foot made it difficult.

Sending off the last of his owls, the astronomer was just about to head back towards the castle when the appearance of a bat in his HAIR made his stop. Stop and flail about wildly with surprise was more accurate, at least in the initial moments until he was able to work out it was only Chu Chu. He had grown to tolerate the tiny creature, sort of, but when it did things like THIS...he was not particularly fond of it.
"Alright, out of my hair," he muttered, using his fingers to just barely touch the creature enough to pluck it from his head and set it on a windowpane. This could only mean a letter from Medea, which he had been expecting, but he was not expecting this news.
Reading the letter only it didn't take very long to read as it was quite short, and not very long was also approximately how long the body would survive out in outer space without the protection of a spacesuit. The pain a human body could feel in those moments of swelling, ebullism, and lack of oxygen was short - at most two minutes, and that was being generous - but this...this was something he would have to live with for a long long while.
And now he realized just how much he had been looking forward to this.
Now that it was gone.
Slowly, the professor leaned forward and caught himself at the last minute when his hand shot out to stop his forehead from smacking against the stone wall. And then he stood there for a few minutes, longer than two, while refusing to let the broken pieces in his chest come to the surface in the form of tears.

Eden had to sent her NOVEL home. Not really a novel, but her VERY long letter to her Mam filling her in on all the happenings lately...seeing Phe, Cole things...Cutty things. Quill things? And the two copies that held her articles. She also had packed some candy from Honeydukes because she KNEW her mother enjoyed magical candy so much.
She did miss Irene McGee. And while lately, she had felt her mother was...lacking in the 'mother' department...she kind of just wanted to hug her and tell her how much she loved her.
It made her kind of sad.
She sighed as she searched for a suitable owl...

Melek was fighting with her owl, "Stop it! I need to tie this to your leg! Be good!" Her owl never listened to her. Mel considered asking her mom to just keep this owl and get her a new one but her mom probably would refuse. She stepped back and flailed, trying to keep from falling since the owl went to attack her. Melek paused as she accidentally hit someone. Her eyes widened and she looked at the girl. "So sorry... I didnt mean to hit you. Are you okay? My owl is just being a pain and..." She trailed off as she caught her owl trying to get away. "Not so quick!" Melek pounced and grabbed her owl with a smirk. "Ha! Told you, you wouldnt be able to get away." She finally successfully tied the letter to the leg then gave her owl a treat. Mel watched her owl fly away before glancing back at the girl. "I really am sorry for basically accidentally attacking you... are you okay though? Would candy make it up to you?"

Eden noticed one of her housemates as soon as she walked in. Melek was her name right? She was actually IN Eden's year, too. They just didn't share a dorm, with all the seventh year girls and whatnot.
hriuhtughiutghi
WAS SHE BEING ATTACKED? Eden just CAME OUT HERE TO HAVE A GOOD TIME AND WAS HONESTLY FEELING SO ATTACKED RIGHT NOW. She winced when the girl kind of ran into her, and then stepped back, losing her footing for a second. Eden grabbed a hold of one of the cubbies nearby. Luckily, the owl that usually slept in that one was out---unluckily, Eden's hand smeared riiiiight into some nice, gooey bird poop.
Ugh.
Eden just stared at her. "Oh MERLIN--it's FINE-" she guessed it was fine. It wasn't really Melek's fault, though...but Eden made a disgusted face at her hand..."Ugh--" UGH was right.

Melek looked at the girl then looked at the girl's hand. Her nose wrinkled in disgust and she backed up. "Ew... You might want to go and get that off your hand..." Mel bit back her laughter then looked around in her bag, "Though I think I have some water in here so that you can wash it off and finish whatever you were doing up here... Eden...?" She hoped that she got the girl's name right because that would have just made this whole thing that much more embarrassing. Melek kept digging around until she found the bottle. "Haha! Found it." She grabbed the water bottle and held it out to the girl, making sure the girl could grab it without getting that stuff on Melek.
Ah... she was finally free until Monday, but she still had homework that needed to be done, it seems like the homework pile was never-ending. 'Ugh... being a Fifth year sucks!'Savannah thought to herself as she walked towards the Gryffindor common room to drop off her books and robe. Deciding that she needed to write her parents and told them how her week was going, she wrote both of them before she headed towards the owlery to mail them. Savannah gotten over the fact that her parents were divorced, but it was still a bit weird getting two letters other than one, but she was slowly getting over it.
Walking into the owlery she peered around to look for her barn owl Athena but she didn't see her anywhere. "Athena where are you girl? " Savannah asked as she seen Athena flying in with a mouse in her beak. Savannah seen that she came back from haunting. "I hope that you had enough to eat, I need you to send some letters home. said Savannah petting Athena as she hooted at her. As Athena ate her mouse, she stuck her leg out as Savannah tied the letters to her leg. "Have a safe flight girl, and be careful! "said Savannah as Athena flew out of the window Savannah watched her fly away.

Well DUH. Eden just nodded. "I know." it was super disgusting..just..mildly gross. She uncapped the bottle that Melek handed to her and poured it over her hand--and then sighed. "Yeah--Scourgify--" she pointed her wand at her hand, and the rest of the white filth was GONE.
WAHOO.
"Well. That was certainly...an adventure." And one Eden did not care to have again, thank you.
And she still needed an owl to send off her letter...she sighed and glanced around.."Well..how is your day going, Melek?" she asked casually.

Melek looked at her as the girl said that she knew. Mel glanced around as the girl cleaned off her hand then was using a spell to clean it off. She felt bad but she thought it was techinally not her fault as well since she didnt have the girl put her hand there... and she did HELP... right? So they are all good... RIGHT? Thats what Mel was going to stick with. She nodded, "Yeah... an adventure..." Melek shot a glare at the girl, "I prefer Mel if you dont mind." She snapped a little then softened some. "It has been rough..." Mel gestured to her skin all full of scratches from her stupid owl. "What about you... other than the bird poop accident?"

Eden saw a tawny colored owl nearby who looked calm; well, this was the one she'd use for this instance. Slipping her folded letter under the ties of the package, she approached the owl..
WELL WHOAH THERE. Eden whipped around and squinted at Mel, apparently..just Mel. "Well-I didn't know you PREFERRED that-no need to be sassy--" she said quickly before turning around to fasten her package. And then she sighed. "Sorry *I* was just sassy..." She hadn't meant to return sass with sass!
"OH dear...did your owl just do all of that?" she asked, a little concerned. "I MIGHT have some essence on me--" but she wasn't sure. She would check her bag in just a second, after sending the bird off. "Oh, kind of dull. Full of homework. Nothing exciting whatsoever."

Mel glared at the squinted and then the sass that she was getting. Melek crossed her arms, about to go off until the girl apologized. She eyed the girl and calmed herself down. "Sorry for snapping... I... I just really really really really really hate Melek..." She blushed and sighed, rocking back and forth on her heels. "Yeah she did... she hates me and Mother REFUSES to have her exchanged..." A sigh escaped and she shook her head, "No thanks, I dont need any... thanks though." Melek shrugged and nodded, "Sounds boring... wanna grab some food and do something fun after you finish up here? I have the rest of the day free..." She leaned against the wall, careful to avoid any bird poop as she watched the girl.

Kace made his way to the owlery because he should at least give a letter to his parents letting them know how he was doing. I mean boys typically don't write letters they usually call but in this society everyone wrote owl post. He stayed up by the fire writing his parents a letter and telling them he got them a surprise in hogsmeade. They were upset they couldn't make it this term for his final year. His parents were going to take him out to dinner. I mean he understood because of flight accommodations and also his parents had work schedules. They just couldn't take off. He was fine with it and he was spending the holidays with Emmy. As he opened the door, he noticed someone he knew. She looked really familiar....
He then went wide eyed and stood there opened mouthed and said, "Oh my god. No way it is Savannah." he greeted her with. He was blanking on the nickname he gave her. It was there but he would say it eventually. "How have you been?" he asked and tied his letter to Charlene was up and ready. I guess she knew he was coming in today.

Savannah turned around as she heard a familiar voice before she smiled at him. "The one and only, as far as I know of! "said Savannah chuckling. Savannah felt like she haven't seen her friends in awhile which makes her sad, stupid O.W.L year, she hated having so much homework. It was a nightmare, she could only imagine how Kace felt, she heard being a seventh year was worse than being a Fifth year. She heard NEWTS was harder than O.W.Ls due to you have to take exams over everything you learned over the seven years, but she didn't know, that was what she heard. Although she remembered her brothers studying for it like crazy, but she knew that they also studied like crazy for their O.W.Ls.
"Felt like forever since I seen you Bubba Badger, how are you? " Savannah asked him as she seen Polaris flying in as she smiled at her. "Hey Polaris, have a good haunt? Hugglepuff will be down soon. "said Savannah petting her. "We got to do something together, we still haven't caused any trouble and I wouldn't be who I am if I didn't cause trouble! "said Savannah smirking at him. "So...how you been, anything interesting since I seen you? "Savannah asked him.

Kace laughed and was always happy to know that Savannah kept her humor. He hoped she never changed. He remembered she was a fifth year and he remember those days vividly. "Sooo how is OWL year treating you?" he asked grinning. I mean he was glad he wouldn't have to stress too much wait nope that wasn't true. He had his NEWTS which were way worse. Bubbba Badger, he laughed and snorted and walked over to hug her. "Man I missed that nickname. I have been good though." he squeezed her tight and then released from the hug. "I mean I have my NEWTS to prepare for but other than that you know nothing too much. Did you go to Hogsmeade yet?" he asked. He also wondered where her partner in crime was. "Also where is Sophia?" he asked looking around and then he realized his question had been answered. "Aaahh she is coming soon?" he asked to clarify.
He would obviously would stick around. He snickered at her comment. "Well I mean we can go some graffiti if you are interested. We can get out your inner rebel and graffiti at night.." he suggested. Now onto him? He shrugged and said, "Well nothing much has been going on but I have noticed some changes in my girlfriend because she doesn't want me to leave. Trust me I don't wanna leave either but the future is calling. I have also been going to meeting with Professors and trying to figure out what to do.." he said.
The summer has changed Sophia quite a bit, after suffering a heart break, she was no longer as sweet and innocent as she once was. No, Sophia was a trouble maker now, thanks to Savannah and her friends, she caused trouble over the summer and it felt good. She never caused trouble before in her life, always been to scared of getting in trouble, but now she could care less. Sophia had to write to her father telling her that she was ok and she wasn't causing any trouble yet, but that wasn't stopping her from doing so, her, Kace and Savannah already had plans to get in trouble this year and she wasn't backing down! She set Lilth her father's ex tent on fire during the summer camping trip with her father and Savannah and everyone else.
Skipping towards the Owlery to send her father a letter, she wondered who was all there, she knew Savannah was due to her telling Sophia to meet her there. The wind blowing through her blonde hair with pink and purple streaks in it, she skipped into the Owlery and smiled as she seen Kace and Savannah. "Mumbles! Savy Kitty! I missed you two! "said Sophia hugging them. "Like my hair I did it myself, don't worry it washes out, and you won't believe who I talked to by the lake, I talked to Seth! " said Sophia. "He said he was sorry for using me, and he really liked me, but I don't know if I could trust him again I don't want to get hurt again. " said Sophia softly but honestly.

Savannah looked at Kace and rolled her eyes at the mention of OWL year. "Ugh...it sucks, I been studying my butt off, and I had homework like crazy and I hate it! "said Savannah. Sometimes growing up wasn't fun, she missed being a kid, didn't have much responsibility when you were a kid. Although she couldn't believe that she had two more years until she graduated, Kace told her it was going to fly by and she'll be a seventh year before she knew it, and she believed him. Savannah looked at him and chuckled. "I missed calling you that! "said Savannah hugging him back standing on tip toes to hug him due to being so short. Savannah shook her head. "Actually I haven't, I been so busy studying and doing homework, I haven't had time for anything else. "said Savannah sighing. "She'll be here soon, she's probably finishing writing her dad. "said Savannah.
"Ooh...that sounds like fun, I can take pictures and add it to my portfolio collection!"said Savannah happily. Savannah frowned. "Just give her some space, maybe she'll come around, I'm sure she will! "said Savannah. Seeing Sophia she smirked at her. "Speaking of the devil here she is!"said Savannah smirking at Kace and Sophia.
"Ugh tell me about it. What till you get to your NEWT year though. You have a workload you never thought existed. I mean you get like so much for the week and you don't know how your gonna manage it all. I have still have a pile of work I need to look over.." he said and shuddered. He wasn't looking forward to it at all. He was glad he wasn't the only one who missed these two girls. "Well at least you made time to see me." he winked and nudged her playfully. He took Savannah's advice and was just there for Emmy. That was enough and they were making happy memories. He walked over to Charlene to mail his letter before he forgot.
As Kace was sending Charlene off to go send his letter, he heard Sophia's voice and he turned around and hugged her back. "I missed you too Candy Queen." he squeezed her and let her go. Then he heard Sophia talking about a dude he hadn't met yet. "Wait wait who is Seth?" he asked. He needed some clarification on that or maybe she told him and he couldn't remember. Kace tried to hold his tongue and said, "Well like I said once a cheater always a cheater." he shrugged. "You need to make him beg you to take you back." he told Sophia honestly. "He needs to earn your trust back." he grinned and patted her back. He hoped Savannah agreed with him.
Mel glared at the squinted and then the sass that she was getting. Melek crossed her arms, about to go off until the girl apologized. She eyed the girl and calmed herself down. "Sorry for snapping... Eden nodded. "I can understand that....so just Mel?" she asked, just to make sure. "Why do you hate it? I think it's pretty..." but that was just Eden's opinion.
Aww. Poor owl. "Well animals aren't things you can just...exchange. She might be snappy with you, but she's probably already bonded with you. So I wouldn't do that...it could severely traumatize her." Eden nodded knowledgable and hoped that even with their differences, Mel could get along with her bird.
"Sure. I'm down with fun." Hehe. She watched the owl in the distance until it disappeared. Sigh.
She missed her mam.

Savannah shuddered at the thought of NEWT year, it sounded more horrible than OWL year did, she didn't want to think how Kace felt. "Ew... homework, I hate homework, well... some of it can be fun!"said Savannah. Savannah wasn't the one who studied, she hated studying and doing homework, although she didn't mind a good book but that didn't have to do with studying or anything. "I'm glad that I did, I was starting to go mad not talking to you or my other friends! "said Savannah honestly. She wasn't lying about that, she felt like a prisoner by doing all this studying.
Savannah knew that Sophia didn't like talking about Seth that much, so Savannah decided to tell him about Seth. "He's the guy who used Sophia this summer to get information about her father, his mom is named Lilth and was only with Sophia's father because of his money, he goes to school here and is a Gryffindor like me. " said Savannah. Savannah didn't like him, he used her best friend, something she wasn't ok with. "I agree with Bubba Badger here Hugglepuff, if he wants you, he got to beg and make himself trustworthy for you can't have a relationship with anyone without trust and honesty! "said Savannah.

Upon entering the owlery, Zeke gazed around at the various owls perched around the place, his hazel eyes searching for just one. He didn't have to look for long, and soon enough the black barn owl descended - wings outstretched - and landed on his shoulder... the birds talons dug through his sweater but he didn't wince. "Hey Icarus," he greeted, giving the owl a scratch on top of its head before offering him an owl pellet.
He had a letter to send home, but he wasn't yet convinced that he WANTED to send it.
Slipping the letter between his fingers, Zeke took to leaning against the wall, deliberating. To send, or not to send... it was a super hard question. Though, he supposed, he didn't have to send it today.

Seeing as she hadn't been able to find Marigold, Maggie had been FORCED to go to the owlery herself. And find an owl. They had school owls right? Or maybe she could just pick one at random. No one would ever know and the private owls probably looked a LOT better than those that everyone could use.
Hmmmmmmmm.
Maggie didn't even notice Zeke at first when she walked in. Her eyes were on the owls, trying to find a pretty one. Hmm. That white one looked like-
"...."
She'd turned her head slightly to get a better look at that one owl when she noticed Zeke leaning against the wall. Initially she only gave him an unimpressed look and turned back around without even a 'hello'. In the end she couldn't keep stay quiet, though. "Do you hang out with the owls a lot?" His friends, she assumed.

The thought of sleeping on it for another day was feeling like a better decision by the second, and he was about to slip the letter back into his pocket when Maggie entered.
....
He watched her, actually disappointed that she hadn't seen him. She was a strange girl, but he couldn't say he was bored around her. Then she looked at him... and said nothing. Was she still annoyed about the Transfig thing? Zeke was sure she was, until she turned back and actually spoke words, like a normal human being.
"Hey to you too," he greeted, stepping away from the wall, the letter returning to his pocket. Icarus remained on his shoulder, big amber eyes fixed on Maggie and possibly her hair.
"All the time," he replied, nodding solemnly. "You come here often too then?"

Maggie was about to tell him that she HADN'T in fact said 'hey' or any form of greeting. Until her eyes fell on the owl perched on his shoulder. Interesting. It was probably his. And it was quite pretty. Definitely nicer than any of the others she'd seen so far.
Ever the opportunist, she smiled.
"Oh. NO! It's my first time coming here." Like. Ew. The smell up here was awful. Did nobody clean up here? What was up with those house elves? That was their job right? Maggie REALLY needed to get out of here. She could basically feel the smell sticking to her clothes. And hair.
