The Eagles sit under a beautiful navy and bronze banner representing their house. Their solid, shiny wooden table is nicely polished with all the place settings perfectly set. The food will arrive after the Headmistress' traditional feast speech. To all Ravenclaws, both new and old: enjoy the feast!
Reactions to Prefect things, Benzi, staring at Gabe.

Text Cut: RAVENCLAW SHOWDOWN
I didn't actually quote anything, but ya'll know what happened.
Evie was back down on her bum with half a dinner roll in her mouth. All she had said was PLEASE, which Gabe reacted to fairly maturely to and even said thank you.. Her mouth was full, though, so Evie only gave him a nod. But then EDEN jumped in and nearly bit his head off and SHUT him DOWN and Evie had to stuff the rest of her dinner roll into her mouth to keep from saying anything. Evangeline didn't really have any reason to dislike Gabe, you know, but he kinda just gave her a weird vibe sometimes. She was sure he was a nice guy somewhere in there, too, but his response was so stoic and mature and whatever; she felt like Eden was totally owning this argument.
And then Sophie took over and asked her to save hers and Eden's seat. "You got it, boss." Evie nodded at the two girls as they took off, pretty sure that Sophie would never get after Eden, so she wasn't concerned at all. Ahem, yes, back to eating and talking to Benzi. The not-new kid.

"So what's that guy's de-" he began asking Evie in a quiet voice, but then the headmistress spoke and he was rather distracted by that red hair until she sat back down again. ... What had she said? Ah well. FOOD TIME. LOOK AT ALL THIS GOOD. YES. FOOOOOOOOD. He attempted to ignore everyone as he began piling up literally everything in sight, but very quickly realised that the conversation was centered around Standing Prefect's comment to him. Might be worth listening in.
Hey, was that Evie standing up for him? GRIN. Even though he really didn't need it, but he nodded to her in gratitude anyways. Silently observing - aka mouth too full to form words - Benzi watched with an avid fascination as Standing Prefect tried to wriggle out of the situation.
....... Oh.
"Oh."
That was an unexpected answer. "I'm sorry to hear that." She was also very curious why he was gone for THAT long and wanted to ask, but held back. It probably wasn't an appropriate topic for people who had just met. The theories DID swarm through her brain though. Maybe he was royalty and his family was getting killed off by assassins. Or maybe his family was CURSED and they were all slowly dying. Or not, you know, maybe it was something normal, whatever.
"Were you gonna ask me something?" Evie asked in a hushed tone, leaning towards him a bit. It sounded like he was gonna ask about some dude with a badge, but that was just her guess.

So. Potatoes.
...and steak and kidney pie. It was especially tasty this year. Or perhaps that was because he was so hungry. It was common knowledge, actually, that the more hungry you were, the better food tasted once you finally got your hands on it. Or so he'd read.
Spearing a potato carefully with his fork, Gabe brought it to eye level, inspecting it...before putting it in his mouth.
Chew. Swallow. Repeat.
Speaking of the Prefect...... what was he doing? Checking to make sure his potato wasn't alive? Evie stared at him while this process continued, intrigued and confused at the same time. Remember those weird vibes we mentioned? They were back.

Janelle gave her full attention to the House Ghost and responded to her question. "My summer was nice, but no, I didn't go on the school trip. I spent part of the time with my sister and brother since I don't get to see them very much. Then I went to visit some of my relatives in the U.S. It went by really fast. I can't believe a new term has started already."
Janelle tried to imagine what it must be like to live in an empty castle. Pretty boring she would guess. The students might be crazy, but they definitely made things interesting.

Janelle noticed Sophie sending a wave her way and she waved back with a smile. When saw a break in the action, she headed over to her new Prefect. Of course, Sophie was busy and surrounded by other students. Janelle waited her turn and then made her move.
"Hi Sophie", Janelle said with a big grin. 'Congratulations! I'm really glad that you are our Prefect now. I can't wait to tell Jasmine." Janelle knew that Sophie had her work cut out for her, but she knew she'd do a great job. Not wanting to keep Miss Prefect Brown from her duties, Janelle said, "I guess I'll see you around then." She figured she'd better head back to her seat. There'd be time to greet other friends later.

He could get them to help him when he was stuck in class, they of course knew more than he did since they had been here longer. He hoped that he wouldn't get hexed for saying Hi but he was a new kid on the block, she wouldn't hex a new kid... would she? Well he hoped not!
Suddenly Janelle noticed a boy sitting near her. A first year from the looks of it. She hadn't seen him around before. Ahhh, a smile and then a hi.....a new friend in the making perhaps? Turning to the new boy, she put on her best welcome face. "Hello. I'm Janelle. What's your name? Is this your first year?"
He seemed a little nervous to Janelle. She could understand that because after all, it was just one year ago that she was in his position. "Don't worry, Ravenclaw is a really great house. I'm sure you'll love it." I mean, what was not to love? "So, how are you enjoying everything so far?, Janelle asked. Better not overwhelm the boy with too many questions........give him a chance to talk.
