The class is the same with the proper chairs with soft cushions to sit and lean back on, and they are still are charmed to take the most comfortable shape and height once a student is seated. The walls are still a soft, calming blue. There are one big, grey rubbish bin by the door and a white, porcelain washbasin with a tap for those who wants to wash their hands before/after the class and who can't perform 'Aguamenti' charm.
The door is open 15 minutes before the class time. Professor Culloden is sitting at his desk and greets everyone very cheerfully.
OOC: If you are going to RP your characer use the washbasin or the bin, you don't have to take Cosgrach's permission. Just assume he has granted it.
The class has begun, so please do not post your characters late!

After completion, it needs to wait for a few minutes to mature.
It's a base potion, which can be stored for a year. The emotion to be decided after the creation of the base
The antidote is the base, which lifts the effect of the potion, so the person goes back to feeling whatever they were feeling before consumption. However, if a normal person drinks it, it makes them feel completely neutral and therefore confused. A full water glass of antidote is needed for full dose.
Full dose is half a water glass in any liquid.
Overdose is more than a full water glass in 24 hours. May cause severe emotional changes and/or only one emotion for an indeterminate time. SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP IMMEDIATELY IN CASE OF AN OVERDOSE.
The duration of the potion depends on the brewer, but it's usually between 5 to 10 hours.
Colours are:
Happiness: Bright pink Sadness: Grey Tenderness: Orange Anger: Bright red Excitement: Bright yellow Fear: White
Huh. The antidote was the base? Plot twist INDEED. Man, professor Culloden was clever. Did he know? Because Norah knew. She leaned over to write the rest of the notes down, surrounding Culloden's surprise in lots of little stars so next time she was studying her notes she'd get her own surprise. The start type of surprise, because stars were loads of fun. The fourth year's face lit up with a grin at the sight of her potion doing 'zactly what it was supposed to be doing. Well behaved potions were the best kinds, a fact which she chose to focus on instead of the fact that white was a boring color because there were more important things going on. More important things like GETTING IT RIGHT, and EXPLOSIONS?
She was hit in the face a curl four the third time just during this lesson as she spun around to see the mushroom cloud engulfing Zahra. Holy bananas. Aaaaand another curl to the nose when ANOTHER one went kaboom. Man, she really needed to cut all her dumb curls off some time. Nothing was allowed to just get in the way of appreciating a good explosion. She packed her bag slowly to maximize the amount of time she got to spend watching what happened, eventually just standing there with her bag on her shoulder and staring. A rash too? WOAH.
Norah waved goodbye to Professor Culloden as she left the room, calling a "thank you!" over her shoulder just in case he hadn't seen.
steps 9 - wrap up! HEY LOOK! I THINK WE FINISHED A POTIONS LESSON! *proud* <3

Tia had been daydreaming as she watched her potion for something interesting to happen. She had a few more ingredients yet to add.
Carefully sliding the two measures of boomslang skin into her cauldron, she glanced at her wristwatch to time it five minutes. In the meanwhile she began to count out the ten newt larvae to set off to the side. Once the five minutes were up, she plopped one larvae in, two, three ... individually, until all 10 were now in her potion. Peering at, she had to admit the SHOCK at how easily the muddiness turned clear.
Having no superb ideas of her own, Tia had simply listened to all the possibly theories about the antidote for the potion as she decided on which emotion she wanted to create for her potion. Not happiness. Fear seemed interesting; taking a scoop of flies into her mortar, she squished them until they all were mush together and barely resembled individual flies.
Taking a sample vial of her base off to the side, she then added the squished flies to the remainder of her cauldron and waited. And jotted down some notes; particularly the part about the BASE being the antidote! Brilliant, Culloden! Clearly why he was potions master, but actually it made logical sense when she considered it.
Once her potion turned white she was about to pour some into a separate vial when explosions happened. WELL then, at least Culloden had quick reflexes. And thankfully she had been sitting far enough away that she hadn't been splashed. Placing her samples with her name and year on the professor's desk, Tia cleaned up her workstation quickly and nodded politely towards the Potions Master. "Thank you, Professor" And she was out of there; she didn't want to hear the wrath of a professor in regards to class explosions!

Sophie stared at the professor, even as he smiled at her. What? For REAL?
Her ears went slightly pink as she fought the urge to peek at Tobes to see if he was upset with her for refuting his theory, and she caaasually started writing things down on her parchment. It was hard to focus on words and she might have actually been writing some jumbled form of gibberish, but she tried to look VERY interested in it. Felt bad, she did. Didn't want to make Tobes feel inadequate or like she was trying to one-up him. She had NOT been expecting Culloden to say the base ITSELF was the antidote, though, and that was way cool. Very logical, once he explained it.
Peeking at her potion, she was pleased that it had turned bright yellow after a few minutes, and she gave a delighted hum as she vanished the remainder of her potion and extinguished the fire, then set to clean every inch of her workstation and began packing things away when a PUFF of smoke emitted from Zahra's cauldron first, then Dante's EXPLODED. Soph raised a robe sleeve to shield her face as a reflex, and lowered it to curiously examine Culloden's reaction to what had just happened.
Silent, boiling anger. The worst kind.
Soph averted her gaze from the fuming potions master and went back to cleaning her workstation and her supplies, packing up her potions kit, then moving along to write down some last-minute notes. All the while, she was keenly aware of how things were going with Dante and Zahra - the latter of which handled her mishap in good spirits, though, which was... pretty admirable, actually.

After jotting down more notes, Ethan tossed his things to the side, and got a sample of his base and placed it in a clean/scourgified vial. He had been meaning to use ‘Fear’ for his potion, and after reading the somewhat gross step, Ethan manned up and proceeded with the actual step.
Ew. Gross. YUCK.
The Slytherin gathered his mortar and pestle, scourgified it, and added a scoop of flies in it. He gave effort not to squirm as he pounded the crunchy flies, and as soon as he was done, he dumped it inside his cauldron. Fear, really? He was…well, more of disgusted.
Another question was posed by the Potions Master, but Ethan decided to concentrate on his creation more. He still was listening though, and took down more notes. Okay, so the antedote would be the base. Well, it is logical really, reverting the emotion back to what it was before consuming the tainted base. And seriously, it SHOULD be an antedote, what with the steps they had to do to get it right, right?
More answers were revealed, and Ethan compared the color indicated on the board to his…oh hello, WHITE potion. GOOD, because that means he got it RIGHT. The Slytherin immediately got two clean, empty vials, labelled them properly and filled it with his ‘Fear’ Potion. After screwing the last vial shut, Ethan got his wand and emptied the contents of his cauldron. “Evanesco.” He also turned to his left over ingredients, and vanished them as well. After that, he laid out all of his used utensils and potion material, and scourgified them with a clean sweep of his wand, “Scourgify.” Done and dooone!
Ethan started to pack his things up, and tossed all of the cleaned potions materials back to where it was placed in the work station.
Then…an explosion happened.
Ethan winced as he felt liquid land on the back of his right hand. The Slytherin was ready to panic BUT, Professor Culloden was quick to inform them that it’s harmless. Harmless. OKAY. Good. The sixth year turned around to see who was behind the exploded cauldron and…it was Dante. If the others were snorting at the poor lad, Ethan felt sympathetic. What if he’s really NOT gifted in Potions, could they blame him? Ethan kept a straight face as he turned to continue packing his things.
He stood up to drop off his sample on Culloden’s desk, and passed by behind Dante’s work station. He was near enough to hear the boy respond, and Ethan’s eyes drifted from the boy to the Potions Master. Pity. He felt pity towards Dante somehow. The older Slytherin reached out to the boy, and gave him an encouraging pat on the shoulder. He then looked up at Culloden, and gave the professor a small wave to say goodbye. With a last look at his fellow Slytherin, Ethan solemnly walked out of the classroom.

He felt he had learned a great deal this lesson - at least where semi-dark potions were concerned, and more so with the antidote for this particular one. Who'd have thought it would be the BASE?! It was so obvious and so NOT obvious at the same time. Hilarious.
Zeke grinned, pleased with his matured potion, it was a lovely shade of white, which reminded him of milk... and speaking of milk... he could do with some cookies. Ahem.
Packing his things up and tidying his area, he was about to depart when THAT EXPLOSION THING happened.
What the?
WHO?
...
Zahra.
Zeke smirked, finding the situation amusing, but perhaps only because he wasn't in the firing line. He was safe.
"Bye, Porfessor," he said as he made to leave, "good luck."

She was just glad she was all the way near the front of the classroom. Brooklyn would have burned holes into Dante with her glare had any of his potion ended up on her, but instead, she was perfectly safe, and so was her base potion. All she had to do was find a vial and fill it as instructed, after Scourgifying it and two others. Now time to decide what emotion she wanted to influence, and that was simple enough.
Acquiring a scoop of black flies, she dropped it in her mortar and squished them with vigor. Once they were well squished, they got added to her cauldron, and she grinned as the liquid turned white. Of course it did. She wasn’t planning on exploding any potions any time soon. Filling the other two vials with the white potion, mentally noting it’d be easy to know which was the base and which was the fear potion since they were different colors, she labeled one with her name and information before vanishing what was left in her cauldron. Time to clean up.
But first, she added the rest of the notes to her journal page, and then she Scourgified all of her Potions supplies before packing them away. Standing up, she walked the few feet to Professor Culloden’s desk to turn in her labeled vial, giving him a smile to show she’d enjoyed the lesson. Minus the explosions, of course, but then, they hadn’t bothered her too much. She still kept a wide berth between herself and both workstations as she’d gathered her things and left, though.

How cool was that, ,making the antidote be the base for the potion? Hady thought that was a cool idea as she quickly wrote that on her parchment of notes. With the lesson being over now she put all her things away after making sure once more that her area and all her items were properly cleaned. Everything was.
Grabbing her bag up off the floor and going to sling it over her shoulders there was a loud explosion from somewhere near her. Spinning around at the noise and smoke cloud she realized it was someone's potion and just a little of it had splashed onto her arm. Frowning at that she was going to ask if she needed to head for the healer but the Professor was just stating that all she had to do was keep it clean. Alright then.
With her bag in hand she headed to the front of the room and set her labeled vial on the Professor's desk. "Bye Professor, thanks for the lesson," Hady called to with a wave as she left the classroom.
Angel smiled as the Professor said it was right, she was feeling funny at the minute. "Professor! can I have a word with you after the lesson." Angel was still trying to figure out what the smile was about before the start of the lesson.

Though maybe he should just stick to potions that are meant to blow up or fireworks. Then he would never have a problem.

Cosgrach didn't even hear the 'goodbye's. All he could see was Zahra, Dante and their non-existing potions now. His mind barely registered Angel's request to see him later, and he hissed a "Later," at her. He was going to kill Dante, and Angel sure didn't want to be in the way.
He didn't know if Zahra selflessly sacrificed herself to soften the mood or if she really wanted to shake hands, but she succeeded: he was distracted and looked at her, then SNORTED. Okay. Okay, she DID look funny with her hands, but that wasn't the point. The point was, Dante had practically confessed that he tried to explode potions in the past. He was too angry to make rational decisions. They had to understand that they would need to call him if something went wrong.
"I want to see both of you in my office tomorrow at 8 AM promptly," he said and shook Zahra's hand, because what was done was done.
THEN he would decide if they really were awful at potions or just didn't try their best.

OH COOL! So the antidote was the base potion itself!? It was like a lightbulb moment, and Zhenya was almost embarrassed that she didn't pick that up. It was just logical, was it not? Anyway, she wrote it down on her parchment, put HER two vials into her bag, protected in a side pocket, and packed away all her things, then hopped down with the vial of the potion to hand over. She gave it to Professor Culloden, said "See you Professor, thanks for another great lesson," and left. It had been a great lesson, but... really, all Potions lessons were great. Zhenya LOVED potions.

Zahra had wanted a high five and Cossy the Potion Man was formally shaking her had, like they just met or made a deal or something. Hehe. WELL ALRIGHT.
"Breakfast with Professor Potions, it is then." Zahra cast a glance at baby Barrington. She had a feeling she was going to have to end up trying to take some blame so Cossy didn't eat Barrington's spleen or something. Ah well, what were House Points anyway. "I'll catch ya later! Thanks for the lesson and junk. Gonna go show Toussaint my new HairDO!"
Cutty gave his potion a moment to mature before bottling the three. The antidote it turned out was the base. This made Cutty's mind charge forth into potions and wonder if this was also possible with others. Perhaps illnesses. Interesting. To say the least. He heard Marsha's soft little voice breaking him away from his inspiration, but he remembered to smile and wink at her, "Yer welcome, bibi."
Without so much as two damns the senior Slytherin boy took the alihotsy leaves and added them to the base of one of his potions as he considered a happy thought. But before he could recall Professor Dursley smiting Tora Gallaway and trying on tiny witch shoes he was greeted with the gift of an explosion. Yes! Barrington and Kettleburn! He laughed out loud as the leaves floated down and into the potion base and changed it's colour to a bright hue of pink.
Gathering his composure he took the black flies and added them to his mortar and pestle. He still found the odd chortle hard to suppress as he smooshed up their little bodies. I mean, Zahra's hair alone. Tilting his morter, he scraped the mooshed flies into the potion base and corked it in time for it to take on it's normal white shade.
"Evanesco!" He said, cleaning up the rest of the potion after corking his three phials and putting them into his potions case. "Pack." He used his wand to gather the last of his belongings and head out making sure to leave Cosgrach Culloden his sample which he labeled clearly with his name, year and house.
